mickeymouse Posted July 7, 1999 Share Posted July 7, 1999 Dear RobertCongratulations on a fabulous website.I am (another) beginner in Feng Shui.My reasons for learning about Feng Shui is that my husband and I are planning to commence build a house early in 2000.My introduction to Feng Shui was the Western Guide to Feng Shui - which initially excited me, but then worried me because I became sceptical about simply using the location of your front door to map the rest of your home.Then I purchased Lillian Too's illustrated guide to Feng Shui (may not be correct title as I do not have it with me). This book, while a little more daunting, seemed more authentic. However, since visiting your site, I have begun to have doubts about this book (ie comments about "static", "applied Feng Shui" etc)I would welcome your advice.Also, could you advise whether the year 2000 is a good time to be building a new home.Thank you.Wendy GomersallAdelaide, Australia Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Administrator Posted July 7, 1999 Share Posted July 7, 1999 Dear Wendy,Based on Feng Shui guidelines, there is a difference between `building' ahouse and finding a good date or year to build a house.Let me elaborate: You can usually find a good date in the year 2000 as thereare 365 days in a year and even if it is in December 1999, you can stillfind a good date the next year. Another point is that Chinese New Year doesnot follow the English New year.For those who are very new to Feng Shui, please take note that when wediscuss Chinese New Year, in short it is CNY or for this year Earth-Rabbit,Chinese New Year is from 16 Feb 1999 to 4 Feb 2000. Here you will noticethat Chinese New Year 1999 only ends on 4th February 2000. Therefore, it iswise not to offend the Grand Duke up to 3 February 2000 on the East side ofthe house.To be frank, in Singapore or Malaysia, it is easier to find a Feng ShuiMaster to look at your project and majority are able to provide you withprofessionaladvise :1. the date of starting the construction.2. the survey of the site, land and layout.In your case, I am not sure you can find an a true Traditional Expert. Theexpert even looks at the type of sand on your construction site etc...Anyway, what you can do is:-1. Apply the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui for the site and the lande.g. using the Four Symbolic Animal concept url:http://www.geomancy.net/fs/four.htm2. Eight House theory e.g. where best try to avoid the death and disasterline on the main entrance or bedroom. But priority goes to Para 1.3. Pillars of Destiny4. So youmay ask `what is the big deal' about it?Period 1 refers to the birth of a new period; Period 2 to 5 are one of theworst periods because as you are aware, No. 2 and 5 are bad Flying Starperiods and it could account for World wars etc...What is so significant about Period 6, 7, 8 and 9. In general, these`Stars' are considered Auspicious because, after all the toll in Period 1 to5, the generation under period 6, 7, 8 and 9 reap the `so called ' rewards(in general).This is similar to some business. For example, the grandfather build abusiness, it grows from a retail to a wholesale business (PERIOD 1 TO 5),the son takes over, inturn, he enjoys the fruits (PERIOD 6, 7, 8 AND 9) butafter his lifetime, his son perhaps overspends and what happens? Thiscompany may go into bankruptcy and returns to Period 1.The Nine Stars 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 goes in a circle.Therefore, what I am mentioning is that most houses according to the Luo Shuor Flying Star numerology implies that number 6 to 9 are `better' periodsthan 1 to 5. Again this is just a general summary.
