Chris_ng
Hi there,I have few questions about feng shui again:1. When we apply the 8 house theories, I find that there are different school of studies when taking the direction of the house. Some will take reference from the whole building in general (entrance of the whole building), others may take reference of the direction from the main door. There are some even take reference from the windows, so which is correct.Assuming in my friend's HDB flat, the lift (which stops at every floor) is near his front door. The lift is used by most people. As a result, should we take direction of the building, with reference of the main door of his house, or from the lift direction.2. I understand there is an on-line training course. As I come from an IT industry and also involved in training our customers, I always find that the instructor-led course is the most effective. The reasons are as follows:a. most of the time, the students have very interesting questions or experiences that will make your training more educational and interactive.b. No all the users can understand all the stuff inside the on-line training, at time they may need to ask questions in which the answers may be beneficial to the rest.3. Can we have some kind of feng shui seminars in Singapore? We can also set up a feng shui society or club and have regular gatherings to allow people with the same interests to interact? (the forum is definitely a good start). Members of the feng shui club will also get discount for seminars and consultation.I learn feng shui is really out of interests so that I can help people whenever they are in troubles related to feng shui and I really look forward to all these changes in the future. Thanks! :>Regards,Chris Ng

I must add that it tends to be more commercialised too.Give them a ring for more info if you are still keen. Quote From: "Chris Ng" This message is sent from "feng-shui-tips" Mailing List.Hi there,I have few questions about feng shui again:1. Some will takereference from the whole building in general (entrance of the wholebuilding), others may take reference of the direction from the main door. There are some even take reference from the windows, so which is correct.Assuming in my friend's HDB flat, the lift (which stops at every floor) isnear his front door. The lift is used by most people. As a result, should wetake direction of the building, with reference of the main door of hishouse, or from the lift direction. Thanks for highlighting this interesting question.1. I believe, some of the authors or practioners are not Singaporeans arenot aware of the concept of HDB flats. Here the confusion may arise. This isbecause, first of all Feng Shui can be applied at a very macro level e.g. toassess the location of a city and building. Therefore, here, I feel the confusion may thus arise. It is not wrong toapply Feng Shui assessment to a whole building or the main door. When a FengShui practioner assess the whole building, it implies that he/she looks atthe global picture of the building. This includes the surrounding building. In many cities and even in Singapore, take a look at the skyline. Forexample, you will notice that one local Bank is tall and triangular shapedrepresenting the `fire' element. Some of these not so friendly buildings mayhave got their advise from not so `environmental' Feng Shui Masters who usethe `fire' element to engulf some of the nearby `wood' element building.Another local Bank has `poison' arrows `shooting off' in all directionsother than it's twin shorter sister building. The essence here is that when some authors write books, they write on amacro level in assessing Feng Shui of a building. For example, if theentrance of the building is facing South, the building facade belongs to the`fire' element. Fire represents `activity' and thus good for activities likeSales and marketing.Another example is the logo of the building. In the above example, of thelocal Bank which is tall and triangular shaped, their logo has purplecovering a metal coin. Purple = Fire element and Coin = Metal element. Thissymbollically represents fire `destroy's' metal to produce wealth. But if you look at a HDB flat, many individuals want to have theirflat/apartment assessed and call a Feng Shui practioner to do so. Here, again it is not wrong to apply Feng Shui assessment to the main entrancedoor. But a good Feng Shui practioner will also look at the shape or profileof the entire building in relation to the surrounding areas. Most `older' 3room HDB flats are of the Earth element. So here, a threat would be a tall`thin' structure or buildings nearby which is of the `Wood' structure. You also mentioned that some Feng Shui practioners take reference from thewindows. Here, they are slightly more `maverick' in their application ofFeng Shui but still not wrong. This is because in most HDB flats, Qi or Chiusually comes thru from the `living' room and `exits from the kitchen. TheseFS practioners thus consider the `entrance' from the living room window. From my personal experience, I have advised quite a few HDB owners to takenote of the `active ch'i' coming from their living room but immediatelyflows out thru their kitchen windows. Here, they should try to close thewindows / `diagonally ' or if they have a door built to restrict the flowmuch the better. As you can see, some wanna be Feng Shui practioners may simply read a bookor two and come to the wrong conclusion and apply the wrong concepts e.g. ifa famous FS author says `must' assess the building, and if one readin-between the lines and misinterpret to say that even for HDB flats, youhave to assess an apartment that way. Here, we must start to understand whythis is so: Is the FS author living in Singapore? Does he/she know aboutthe structure of HDB blocks?Unfortunately, the quality of Feng Shui practioners varies all over theworld. Some may have fixed mindsets and some may be flexible. The best is tochoose wisely but the best is like yourself who take the time to check andunderstand further:) Quote 2. I understand there is an on-line training course. However, as she mentioned, you may expectcommercialisation in some of the `free' seminars or even `paid' seminars.
