Staff Robert Lee Posted April 24, 1999 Staff Share Posted April 24, 1999 Dear Anita,Thanks for bring up this interesting question. We will first begin by looking at the `history' of Feng Shui in China. In the past, Chinese were mostly into agricuture (farmers ) and live-stockrearing.What this means is that food was obtain from the land. Eaten, and left overswere `re-cycled' e.g. as some of them they rear pigs, these "garbage" weregiven to the pigs to be eaten. Manure or other `solid' wastes were used tofertilise the land. From the above, you will notice that they (ancient Chinese) do not have whatwe have now... " garbage " in the form of non-biodegradable productsetc.....Overall, Feng Shui is used to assess: in the above case of a home: theLandscape, the site, if you are living in an apartment the apartmentbuilding and then the home. One should thus pay more attention to Feng Shuirelatiing to the above and up to an individual apartment.Things like how to discard garbage can be considered " peanuts " Feng Shuiorthe least important issues of Feng Shui. So long as we are hygenic i.e.reguarly empty the garbage and if it is placed outside our house ensure thatstray animals do not get to it, this will be fine. Such issues are even lessimportant in daily Feng Shui living and if some one were to come up withsuch a routine; it no longer becomes Feng Shui but rather `relates to 'superstitiousbelief.Real Feng Shui does not have a routine. The key issue for a home is that in the past, Chinese homes do not have atoilet in their house but a distance away. This `solid' waste is moreimportant consideration.Even today, it is inauspicious to have sewerage pipes/channels running underthe house or crossing (especially the bed rooms). The above two issues are more important than any `fixed' routine ondiscarding garbage. Therefore, in my opinion, real Feng Shui is concerned for example of proper`sitting' or `placement' ratherthan nitty gritty of how to dispose of garbage etc..We have to be careful and like yourself, each of us are in search of the`truth'.The sad thing about Feng Shui in my country is that there is no licensingauthority and many dubious people carry on calling themselves " Master ".But many people simply do not question them but automatically given suchpeople recognition thinking that a Doctor is but a Doctor.Like any disciplines, even if one calls himself/herself a " Master ", theymay not be skilled in all areas of Feng Shui and Chinese Divinity. Just likea Doctor, there are General Practioners, Specialist Doctors etc...I hope that if you are reading this, if you ever engage a FS practioner, don't always take what they say.. times have changed, infact, ask them forthe rationale for giving such and such an advice.Warmest Regards,Cecil-----Original Message-----From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed>Date: Saturday, April 24, 1999 12:51 AMSubject: where to throw the garbage at home?
