Basically, the two stars influences will not change no matter what, except
when the period for the house you are evaluating is 2 or 5. These influences
does not need the life gua or change with the life gua. This means that it
does not mean that if your life gua is 2 or 5, it is better.
Life Gua is used for determining your own Eight House Chart, in many ways
these two charts are different yet, the main origin comes from its
similarity with Three 20-year Periods (San Yuan) theory. Eight House uses
the Life Gua to determine the EIght Directions, which is your personal
chart. The proper way to relate the life gua 2 and 5 is by converting it to
the Eight Directions, and then matching the door to the eight directions.
Only by doing so there is then a common ground for a 8 square grid of the
Eight House and a 9 square grid of the Flying Star. This way the charts can
be related to each other to see if the house is suitable for you or not.
You cannot use the fact that the life gua is 5 therefore your the influences
in the 2 and 5 star reduced. The only influence which can affect the stars
in the flying star chart (especially the Mountain and Water are the 20-year,
Yearly, Monthly, Daily, Hourly, etc.) or the period of the house being
built.
Similarily, when the Life Gua which used as the personal flying star, is
used to help to determine the directions less the stars number by itself.
Only when you have the directions influences in place, can you relate the
two charts together.

thanks for the great explanation, i had one more question in the special chart that adds up to 10 it is said that this is very fortunate in period 7 the house facing south172.5 to 187.5 it has a base and mountain star that adds up to 10which is good for health of the people bec.mountain is for health am i right?? we could see here the center is 3 and 2 this is not good for 2 person because wood destroy earth..how does it affect the 2 person???what about the good combination of mountain and base that add up to 10 does it rule out wood destroys earth?? i once live in a this special chart but only for 2 years..to sum up that yrs. it was very good.do you believe in this chart base on your experience or research? thank you.

I think I did come across reading about this portion. There are many complex combination for the Flying Star. However, more importantly the most important thing about Flying Star is the combinations between the stars and the relationship based on the Trigram.

It depends on what kind of earth person you are. If you are weak Earth, the 3 Wood would also harm you. If you are a Strong Earth, then the influence is good for you as your strong nature is being controlled by the Wood.

For Feng Shui BALANCE is the most important. However, it is not possible to achieve TRUE balance, so at best you want some influence of each element to bring you in balance.

So far, I have yet to encounter all the various combinations in real life, so unable to give you much comments here, especially relating to the 10 combination. However, in my research, I did come across many FS master providing this similar combination which produces good influences.
