Dear Cecil or Robert,
I received and studied my paid report for Pillars of Destiny of myself and
the Pillars for my spouse. We are confused and disagree with his element as
described in his report.
It says he is a Strong Water but both of us feel he is more Strong Fire
simply b/c of his personality and physical characteristics.

Are you again refering to the personality and physical characteristics from
your knowledge of the "Harriet
Beinfield's book _Between Heaven and Earth_ (describes the 5 elements and
types of people, foods and Chinese medicine). " as well as your own personal
intuition?
I viewed you and your spouse data. Interesting I noticed that in yours you
had lots of water, which made you feel that you were water, but in fact you
were weak Fire. Which when your acupuncturist told you to increase your
fire, it was pretty good as you were weak in Fire due to the many water
element in your life. Which happens to be correct because it was indeed
helping your weak Fire, and not what you had assumed as Water element.
As for your spouse, there are initally also 3 fire, but after combinations
had taken place you only had 2 fire left. In fact your spouse had 4 metal, 2
water, & 2 fire. Metal further strengthens the water, making your spouse a
Strong Water. For Strong Water, Wood is a good exhausion, or Fire is a good
controlling element for reducing the metal in your spouse data.
So far I noticed that your intuition has been pretty accurate in determining
the most suitable element for yourself and your spouse. However, a person's
intuition may not be able to differentiate a person's true element.
Secondly, I have no idea what the book which you have read has mentioned in
terms of how they use element to determine your personal characteristics or
personality. So far in the current pillars version, these analysis are not
included, simply because, a person's personality, can be pretty complex to
determine as it changes throughout a person's development, education etc.
Thus, it may not be accurate to use Pillar's Heavenly given luck and charts
to provide such analysis. Instead, many a times, using additional chinese
astrology, Three Lives (San Shi) or Chinese Numerology, Palmistry or Face
Reading theory is often more accurate as it takes into account other
influence not seen by Pillars.
So because of that, what I believe is that your intuition has already help
you to determine the elements which you should use to help your own elements
in order to benefit from it. I personally do not see much of a conflict,
except that, you are now more aware of the actual element which you are born
with, thus allowing you to further fine tune the cures and charts to your
life.
Pillars alows you to know the true element such as weak Fire for yourself
and strong water for your spouse. These can be pretty different if they were
instead strong Fire or weak water. For yourself, Water is pretty strong
making your Fire weak, while Strong Water in your spouse, makes is necessary
to use Wood to exhuast or Fire to control.
Hope that helps to resolve your conflicts in your personal intuition and the
true elements.
Warmest Regards
Robert Lee

I have followed the discussion of the Left and Right Brain theory in
Discussion forum,
and I notice that I too am very Yin and intuitive. My intuition tells me
that my spouse is Fire. What insight do you have into my dilemma? As far
as we know, the correct birth data was entered.
Please understand that I'm not implying that your calculations were wrong
or misleading.
As far as I know, they are correct, but we just wonder how to resolve the
conflict.
Thank you.

Hi Everyone
L and R Theory of Feng Shui,
There has been some confusion on the `accuracy' of the Pillars of Destiny.
Let me elaborate:-
The Pillars of Destiny has a few parts:-
1. It can determine the True Element of a person e.g. Strong Fire Element.
2. You can cross reference the period in which your element. For example, in
a particular period, what is the strength of the element for the period and
does it have any effect on you. For example, if you are a strong wood
element person, if 1999 has a season of strong fire, this is considered
inauspicious. If you have a Pillars of Destiny done for you, you can then
understand this and better control your `environment' i.e. further reduce
your
strong fire element.
3. The third part of Feng Shui is based on Fortune telling and divinity
methods. Even the number of Yin and Yang in your pillars may not be true for
you if you look at your own chart.
Why is it that I have 6 Yin elements and 2 Yang elements yet I prefer
mathematics, calculations?
Here, you should be clear about one thing:-
When we were born, our element and its strength will NEVER change. E.g. if
you are a Strong Fire element, you are always for Feng Shui purposes, a
Strong Fire element.
Here you will understand why we always use the above for Feng Shui to
analyse your element and its strength in relation to your individual, home,
office etc...
However, why is it that I have 6 Yin and 2 yang but love maths instead?
Pillars of Destiny provide us with an understanding or CAUTION that one's
pillars can be changed for example through education, up-bringing, useful
experience and people you contact with, Feng Shui of your physical
environment etc...
For example, an intelligent parent may read through certain books on how to
increase their child's skills development. If the parent is able to make the
learning interesting or to stiumulate the child's learning, for example, in
the area of mathematics, although the child have 6 Yin and 2 Yang, this can
slowly be influenced.
Therefore, today, if the child has his Pillars of Destiny analysed, it beg
to differ from what he is good at.
I hope you will now begin to understand why when I first `experimented' with
the L and R Theory, I have two parts to it.
Part 1. I believe that at your age (grown up age) of at least completed
your `studies' or to be precise, have gone to work, you can see if you are
more inclined towards the "spatial" i.e. if you are a white collar worker I
gave the earlier example that in presentations, you prefer to use where
possible diagrams or illustrations or icons together with words to express
yourself. A more Yang person would like to express themselves using only
words.
Part 2. This is where, I asked you to count how many Yin and Yang elements
you have. I have earlier in my note on the L and R Theory is that I am just
trying see `how true' this is.
I strongly believe that this can be changed. From current feedback, I
believe that this `Part 2' is not accurate based on what I mentioned earlier
ie. it can be changed through a person's education and upbringing etc...
But I still strongly believe that the L and R Theory holds true under " Part
1".
Therefore, I apologise if it may make some of us becoming confused as to if
one part of the Pillars of Destiny is " inaccurate " doubt the rest of the
Pillars of Destiny.
Hope you have understood what I am trying to say as most users will know
Geomancy.net has always focused on the Feng Shui aspects of using Pillars of
Destiny.
Two areas in Pillars which normally does not change is your True Element and
Luck Pillars. These are born with you and will remain as your own personal
influences throughout your life. Knowing these two influence, you can apply
Feng Shui to bring out the best in your life and reduce any unfavaourable
influence which may have disasterous effects on you.
Other Fortune Telling areas such as characteristics, wealth are just for
your interest if they are added into the analysis, as these have always been
what many are looking for. But these information is often no longer accurate
in our modern society as the many external influences can now alter these
deficiency in your birth "characteristics".
Warmest Regards
Cecil
