Colors/cures for SE room

The room I am using as a workroom is SE,
flying stars 6 and 1, base 6. There is a
mountain star at this location, should I
activate it? I am a NE person, so this room
has death and disaster lines running through
it (oh dear!). It is the only room I have
available for my use, so I have to do the
best I can with it. I have my work table
facing west. Is there anything else I can
do. Also, about a color to paint it. I have
in mind a pastel shade between peach and rose
(really a wash of one color over the other).
My pillars of destiny were confusing to me on
this point. It said that I lacked fire and
should use orange/red, but I am a strong
earth and I thought maybe fire would
strengthen that element too much. The house
is west facing, roof replaced this year.

There is nothing much you can do about the Eight House, just that either try to avoid it or at least make sure you do not face the death or disaster line.

Try to divide your Eight House using the pie lines and make sure you do not stay directly in the death line. Rather then the 9 square format. It is a little more accurate with the pie line division.
Just avoid staying directly under the disaster line.
Another suggestion is to strengthen yourself with your favourable elements, this will also help to counteract or reduce the influence.

Even if you are a Strong Earth, in your birth pillars so long as you lack or you have too much of an element, you need some of it still to bring it into balance.

You see, even if you are a strong Earth, but without fire, you do not have a mother or a resource these are what essentially created you. So you still need "a little" rather then none at all. But since you are a strong Earth, I recommend a little will do just enough to bring you into balance.
