Moving to new house during pregnancy

Hi,

Currently i'm just pregnant about 1 month, & I'm planning to move to my new house end of this month. So , my question is can I move house during pregnancy? Since during move house, a lot of dismanttle, installition, moving bed, moving furniture & etc activities. Any impact / concern / consequences?

Hi Anon,

Generally, it is not advisable for you to be involved in renovation works or moving process especially since you are pregnant. Like you mentioned, the various installation especially dismantling or hammaring works are not auspicious for the baby in terms of Chinese believe. So you should avoid getting yourself involved at all. In fact, if possible you should not be present at any of the works.

Since you are pregnant, never move in your existing bed that you are using now. Best to get new beds for the new home. Ideally, if possible you should wait till you have given birth then, move to the new home. Else, at least you should avoid getting involved in the renovation/move in works of the home. And if you do move in, you should not bring your old bed to the new home.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your advice. Is that means i only go to the new house once everything completed moved & adjusted in the new house on the same moving day or i should not go to the new house until the next day after the move in day? When is the best time for me to move in?

Hi Theresa,

Yes, as far as possible, try to move in only when everything is done.

As to whether you should move in on the same day or a different day. This depends on whether all the move in is done or not. If everything is moved in properly, then should be no issue to move in later in on the same day.

Probably it would be better tochoose another day that is auspicious for you to move in. This way, you move in when all shifting or arrangment is completed.

Hi Robert,

Regarding not to move the existing bed to new house, is that means i have to leave the bed in the old house or it's ok as long as i buy a new bed for my new house bedroom, & i just putthe existing bed to another room in my new house?

Hi Theresa,

Ideally, it is best you get a new bed for the new bedroom, rather than move your old bed. However, you can still move your old bedbut you must not be present during when the bed is being moved out of your existing home as well as move into the new home. As long as you are not there in the move, then it is fine to make of the bed in another bedroom.
