  1. Dear Kieron, Under Feng Shui, the most `vulnerable' area for poison arrows are: 1. the main entrance door. 2. the view from windows inside the house. The concept of `poison arrows' is that if you cannot see the poison arrow, there is no longer a threat. For a dying tree between your home and your neighbours, it is no `threat' unless: 1. it can be viewed from a window of a house and when it fulfil para 2 below. 2. when the tree disintegrates into a `tree stump'. When you only have a `broken' tree stump, this now becomes a `sha' provided when you peer through the window, it is tangent or perpedicular to it. In the long run, it is best to totally uproot the tree incase of decay and especially if it is large to fall and hurt someone. In my country, we do have termites and it would be `wise' to pull down the tree or if it can be rescued, then that's fine. Maybe you could make some agreement with your neighbour to share the costs. In conclusion, currently there is no threat unless it satisfies condition under Para 1. and 2. above. 2. Dear Anita, Thanks for bring up this interesting question. We will first begin by looking at the `history' of Feng Shui in China. In the past, Chinese were mostly into agricuture (farmers ) and live-stock rearing. What this means is that food was obtain from the land. Eaten, and left overs were `re-cycled' e.g. as some of them they rear pigs, these "garbage" were given to the pigs to be eaten. Manure or other `solid' wastes were used to fertilise the land. From the above, you will notice that they (ancient Chinese) do not have what we have now... " garbage " in the form of non-biodegradable products etc..... Overall, Feng Shui is used to assess: in the above case of a home: the Landscape, the site, if you are living in an apartment the apartment building and then the home. One should thus pay more attention to Feng Shui relatiing to the above and up to an individual apartment. Things like how to discard garbage can be considered " peanuts " Feng Shui or the least important issues of Feng Shui. So long as we are hygenic i.e. reguarly empty the garbage and if it is placed outside our house ensure that stray animals do not get to it, this will be fine. Such issues are even less important in daily Feng Shui living and if some one were to come up with such a routine; it no longer becomes Feng Shui but rather `relates to ' superstitious belief. Real Feng Shui does not have a routine. The key issue for a home is that in the past, Chinese homes do not have a toilet in their house but a distance away. This `solid' waste is more important consideration. Even today, it is inauspicious to have sewerage pipes/channels running under the house or crossing (especially the bed rooms). The above two issues are more important than any `fixed' routine on discarding garbage. Therefore, in my opinion, real Feng Shui is concerned for example of proper `sitting' or `placement' rather than nitty gritty of how to dispose of garbage etc.. We have to be careful and like yourself, each of us are in search of the `truth'. The sad thing about Feng Shui in my country is that there is no licensing authority and many dubious people carry on calling themselves " Master ". But many people simply do not question them but automatically given such people recognition thinking that a Doctor is but a Doctor. Like any disciplines, even if one calls himself/herself a " Master ", they may not be skilled in all areas of Feng Shui and Chinese Divinity. Just like a Doctor, there are General Practioners, Specialist Doctors etc... I hope that if you are reading this, if you ever engage a FS practioner, don't always take what they say.. times have changed, infact, ask them for the rationale for giving such and such an advice. 3. Dear Jon, Sorry about that, the download software hasn't taken into account the Lunar Conversion when it was first released. That module was not implemented into the software at that point. It will be in the later release:) It was a small project which I did for hobby and haven't fine tune or added many other features to it yet. For the time being, to use the software, you need to use the Chinese Calendar information. I forgot to inform the users about that. 5. Dear Nansi, The key to understanding this is based on the following:- Grand Duke does not like to be:- 1. Disturbed. Here one should not do construction work at the location. This includes repairs and renovations. 2. Touched. Here, this would imply that painting is consider `touching' him. So, based on the second point, please don't paint the walls on the East. I forgot to add that as an option for you. It should be when the base star (or luo shu number for that period) and its combinational influences with the Water Star or Mountain star. As the Flying Star normally is interpreted from Five Element Analysis, there are certain combinations which creates a balance. And when that happens the bad influences that one star has is being countered or converted to another use. When this happens the result is a good influence. So the San He for this case under the Flying Star is a combinations technique which influences the readings of the charts. This can be easily deduced by using the Five Elements on each of the numbers to see how is the relationship. Take note that the combinations normally will produce two types of results, good and bad combinations. Well, it is as hanyu pinyin for the chinese often has four different pronouncation to it, it is not surprising that it can be confusing. Personally, until I clarify it can be difficult for me to guess what you are refering to unless there is only one reference to that topic. Like the San Yuan. However, the San He, has many interpretations which was why I wasn't able to pin point which concept you are refering to. Warmest Regards Robert Lee
  8. Dear Julie, Please accept my apologies as I realised that I had wrongly quoted the directions to avoid for renovations. I guess, I was too sleep. Sorry! Therefore, please ignore all earlier references on the wrong directions given. The correct information should be as follows:- =================================== For this year, avoid doing renovations ONLY in the EAST = 90 degrees (Grand Duke and 3 killings location). For next year, avoid doing renovations at TWO locations::- ============================================= 1.South = 180 degrees (3 killings) and 2. East- South-East = 112.5 degress (position of Grand Duke) Once again, please accept my apologies. Yes, it is indeed beter to face North. The concept of the Grand Duke is that not to face him. Sitting at the East Sector is not considered this. Warmest Regards, Cecil

If it is, then San Yuan is actually talking about the Sexagenary Cycle's Three 60-year period, the Upper Period, Middle Period, and Lower Period. As for your San He, can you further specify if you are refering to the San He when translated to English Characters by Mountain & River, or Three River or even possibly the Luo He (River Tortise) under this url: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/tortise.htm? Sorry, sometimes the hanyu pinyin can be a little hard to guess what you are refering to. As for the San Yuan, it is from the San Yuan period that you deduce the base star for the Xuan Kong. But San Yuan by itself does not mean Xuan Kong Fei Xing. It is just a Cycle showing the breakdown of the periods which is used for determining the Flying Star number.
  10. Dear Toni, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Friday, April 09, 1999 2:32 PM Subject: Re: stove next to fridge?? Since the stove is in the south, this is acceptable because at the south position, the stove is able to `retain' the heat as it is at it's most comfortable location i.e. South. Normally, if the stove is at the South position, you can have the stove face a water element e.g. a frige. This is because a stove at the south can still be `cooled' down by the water element opposite it. Contrast this if you place a stove e.g. in the North sector. Here, you must not let the stove face a water element else the `warmth' will `die off'. In your case, the `heat' can still escape and you will not have a problem. But do not "purposely" add a water position in front of it as it may offset this `delicate' balance. Yes, the microwave is not considered a fire element and it is no problem placing on top of the fridge. Cecil
  11. Dear Eve, Traditional Feng Shui did not mention anything about the fridge as it was not invented yet. However, the number of fridge is not important as it does not provide warmth and effectively is `self-contained' box. Unlike the stove which is considered the `heart' of the kitchen, frige or a number of them are not that crucial. The only thing crucial here is that it must not be next to a `fire' element or if so, provide at least 6 inches or 130 cm distance. 12. Dear Nansi, This is based on the Grand Duke Theory where for this year, one should not offend the Grand Duke of Jupiter by not doing renovation at the East direction. The Grand Duke or Tai Su `will' be offended if one e.g. digs earth or do renovations at this direction as it will disturb him. Unfortunately, the effects can be `long lasting' as it may extend to a few years. So far, frankly, this is the warning but no acceptable cures are available. As mentioned earlier, for some Chinese, they may consider `praying' for forgiveness to the Tai Su or Grand Duke of Jupiter. Other than this, I really do not know what to do also. Because, many who are aware of this, remember about this and try not to offend him. As far as I am also aware, many books will also provide such a warning but I have yet ot come across a reliable remedy for this. Really sorry about it. 13. Dear Toni, I believe there are two schools of thought in considering a microwave oven:- 1. One school of thought is that microwave ovens were never invented in ancient times and some Feng Shui practioners may argue that since this is the case, there is no standard way to say whether it is good or bad Feng Shui. This camp will usually be not sure and can either give you a Yes or No answer. 2. The second school of thought is that a stove is different from a microwave. Under the Five Elements concept, the characteristic of a stove is that the fire flows upwards and thus this is considered a `Fire element'. However, if you are only using the microwave, it implies energy that `flows' inwards which has the characteristics of the metal element. Therefore if you are only using the microwave and not the `oven' feature, then in this case, it no longer represents the fire element. Currently, it is my belief that the microwave represents the `metal' element and not fire element which has no effect on the water element unless you use the `oven' feature. In such a case, there is no longer a clash of Water and Fire element or a clash of yin and yang. As I mentioned earlier, the microwave is new and in my opinion, I will classify the microwave as belonging to the metal element based on the reasoning in para 2. In such a situation, there is no effect of the microwave on top of the water element i.e. the fridge. However, can I ask you a question? Which direction is the microwave located and whether do you have a stove? 1. If you have only the microwave in the home, this is not favourable in Feng Shui as one should ideally also have a stove in the kitchen to represent the fire element. 2. If you only have the microwave and if it situated at the North sector of the home, this is equally unacceptable as the North represents water element and worse still if you do not have a stove, your kitchen is considered `cold' and thus you most unlikely can retain the warmth in your home. 3. It is acceptable to have a stove and a microwave in the home. But remember not to have two set of stoves in the home. This is considered very inauspicious. Like I mentioned, earlier, a microwave is a modern `invention' and based on it's characteristics of energy moving `inwards', it can be classifed as a metal element. If you are using the oven feature, then the heating element will (glow... unseen inside the microwave) and it is considered a Fire element. If you are using it more often as a fire element, then, it is best not to place the `oven' on top of the fridge as this is a real clash and very inauspicious. Hope that helps. 16. Dear Luna, The Green Dragon and White Tiger can have two `meanings'. 1st `meaning' based on the Shapes and Form School ========================================== 1. If we are simply looking at the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui, then you are correct to say that the Green Dragon is always on the East while the White Tiger is always on the left. This cannot be changed at all. 2nd `meaning' based on the Five Elements Concept ======================================== 2. There is another way of looking at the Green Dragon, White Tiger. This falls under the Five Element concept. If you notice why call it a Green Dragon? or a White Tiger? If one looks at the colour chart of the Five Elements, you will find that :- Green = True cardinal point East White = True cardinal point West When we want to apply the Five elements concept such as to find out the overall situation, such as applying a `cure'. If say your main door is at the cardinal point East, this is the Green Dragon domain. Is the site an EXCELLENT site? Here, we take on the 1st `meaning'. We can `grade' a site by looking at the distinctive features of the site. Better still if we can find a Dragon embracing a Tiger. This is similiar to the Horse shoe, which surrounds the back of the house and form a protective barrier. You can thus say that the 1st `meaning' is really meant for applying under the Shapes and Form School. Therefore, in the above example, the dragon is always on the right and the tiger on the left. What happens if we want to understanding the characteristics where the main door is facing or applying a cure? In the 2nd `meaning' we now have to apply the Five Elements Concept. Take note of the cardinal point. If the direction of your door is truly West, this has to be governed by the Tiger domain which is white (white stands for Metal element). In cures, we cannot say that this is the governed by the Bird (or Red Phoenix) which under the Five Elements concept is Red = South direction. As in this example, the main door is not facing South, so we cannot simply `switch' this West direction to have the `characteristics' of the South or Fire element. To sum up, the 1st `meaning' takes on the Shapes and Form School Concept while the 2nd `meaning' takes on the Five Elements Concept. This is why, it is understandable why there is confusion over this. Hope the above clarifies your doubt. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'feng-shui-tips' suppressed 'feng-shui-tips' suppressed> Date: Friday, April 02, 1999 6:51 AM Subject: Re: White Tiger and Green Dragon location You have asked a good question. The Four Symbolic Animals or Four Celestrial Animals Concept can be looked at in two main areas:- 1. Survey of the Landscape and Site. Under this area, we will have the Dragon at the East and White Tiger on the East. A Feng Shui Master will try to find the `Dragon' of a site. A dragon can be a `real' dragon i.e. the features of a hill or a `false' dragon e.g. a high rise building or even a road etc... An excellent site is one where there is a Green Dragon and a White Tiger " in close embrace " of each other. When you are in the house facing the main entrance, the Green Dragon is always on your Right and the White Tiger is on the left. 2. For Applying Feng Shui `cures' to a site, you must then use the REAL compass points. For example if your main door is facing East, this sector `belongs' to the Green Dragon. Here the distinction must be clear from point 1. Let's take another example, if your main door faces West or the White Tiger, this is the White Tiger's domain. Therefore, the following must be applied `strictly here' :- If your main door faces: North = Black Tortise sector South = Red Phoenix East = Green Dragon West = White Tiger Therefore, it is important to note the distinction between para 1 above and para 2. Well it depends, so long as the directions of the Eight House does not represent "disaster" or "death" for the breadwinner. It is still ok, once the Eight House shows that you are actually staying in your "disaster" or "death" house, it is not advisable for you to stay in this house. This is because even though the Flying Star can be very good, but you will find it very hard to find a bedroom which you can stay in (that falls within your good sectors). Other then that, the Flying Star should take precedence. You will only use the Eight House to subimpose into each of the sector and make sure that you are facing the good directions. The Green Dragon is at the East or a Yang location. The White tiger happens to be at the West (setting sun) or a Yin location. There are two ways of looking at the "White tiger". Some consider that the white tiger is ever ready to pounce on you and `eat you up'. However, on the other hand, the white tiger is considered a courageous and noble animal. If the location is auspicious, you can apply any auspicious `ruleset' as it has been applied to any other locations to this location. But if this happens to be your inasupicous location, do take note that West is a YIN location and Yin is considered more for the `dead'. Here, it would not be wise for example to plant too many trees at this location as too many trees create too much Yin and this may advertenly attract `spirits' to this location. Under the landscape school, the Green Dragon is always on the East of the main door. There should be a real dragon e.g. natural landscape or profile of the Green dragon or a `false' dragon e.g. a road, a building etc... while on the West is the White tiger, which is shorter than the Green Dragon. Here, a good site is one where the Green Dragon and the `lower' white tiger embrace each other. If there is such a condition, this is a good site. However, what happens if the `roles' are reversed? If the white tiger over towers the Green Dragon (which is shorter), the white tiger then over powers the Green Dragon. This is considered an unnatural order. What happens here is that if the breadwinner has a mistress, instead of him holding on wealth, she will be the one controlling it. If it is the bad star under the flying star, you can easily apply the 5 element cures to your directions. This is rather easy to cure just depends on the stars combinations and your personal true elements. Warmest Regards Robert Lee ------=_NextPart_000_009F_01BE7907.F9401110--

  21. Dear Chris, -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'pillars-of-destiny' suppressed 'pillars-of-destiny' suppressed> Date: Saturday, March 27, 1999 1:18 AM Subject: Conflicts using Piller of Destiny, 8 House theory & Flying House Are you the breadwinner for the house? a. no? Then you do not need to worry about this portion. b. yes? You should find a house suitable. Strong Fire means you stay in the Earth house. As for the colours of the house, this is secondary, as the best and most pratical colour for house is still white or light colours. Each theory has a specific use. It depends on what you are trying to do? What are the uses for each theory? a. Pillars of Destiny This theory gives you the Feng Shui of an individual. A person's true birth element, 80-year luck period, and other predictions about a person. What is most important for a Feng Shui Audit is the true birth element (eg. weak Fire or Strong Earth). You need to know this so that you can find the most suitable home, or how you can apply cures so that it is suitable for the various members in the family, or to find a suitable element which helps to bind the two elements together. 80-Year Luck period can be used for personal enhancements, to improve each period of your life, so that you get the most benefit from your own fate. Eg. Knowing when is your best period, allows you to make use of these periods to start a business etc. This can ensure that you get the best in your venture. b. Flying Star This theory gives you the Feng Shui of a house. A house's guiding period (for 20-year, yearly, monthly). The two stars which are always changing, creating different flying star influences. These combinations are most important, as most of the time when there are any problems it is due to several conflicts in the stars which give rise to illness, quarrels, lawsuit, marriage breakup, etc. In order to apply cures properly, not only do you have to apply cures based on the stars, the cures must suit the person who uses the room. Thus here you see that the Pillars cures comes in to give this additional information. c. Eight House This theory gives you the suitability of a house to the breadwinner, or best directions which other members can used as their bedroom etc. Flying Star takes precedence over Eight House, it is still important to make use of the Eight House. Why? Simply because Flying Star can only tell you the Feng Shui of a house, it does not tell you if you are suitable to the house. A house can have the best and most excellent Feng Shui, eg. double 77 in period 7 for the main door, but if the breadwinner of the house has the death or disaster that falls in the main door, then no matter how good the Feng Shui of the house, the breadwinner is not suitable to the house, as he cannot find a suitable room for him to stay in. Also, Flying Star cannot tell you which direction should you put your table in the location to improve your working conditions etc. But Eight House with the knowledge of your 4 good and 4 bad directions you will be able to apply such knowledge to your life. d. Shapes and Forms These theory tells you the interaction of Chi and external influence to your home. Even if you fulfil all the three Calculation schools, you still need to access the external environment for a complete overview of the Feng Shui of your home. Whether or not you are getting Chi into your house, any pointed objects from other house, any pool of water, mountain, etc. You need to do so because each theory is for a different purpose. Only after knowing how you can make use of these theories, then you can perform a very detailed an accurate assessment of your home. As you can see, all the 4 major theories are already easily found either from the website or from the www.Geomancy-Online.com, for anyone to apply these tools easily to their home or office, individual or suitability. Basically here is a simple and quick guide:- 1. Finding a suitable house, you should use:- - Eight House for suitability of the Breadwinner. Which one am I? You are an North East house Person, because your kua is 8 Gen Kua. I believe Cecil and I have come across this error in Lilian Too's book, if you double check the north, south, east, and west direction, you should find that the direction which she specify SW is actually NE where by the corner should have E, SW, NE. It is possibly a typo. I did a manual calculation for you and confirm it is 8 Gen Kua, which means north east house person. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Before doing so, you need to ask ... who is the breadwinner of the house. 2. Next, you should look for a house that best fits the breadwinner. 3. Look for a house with the main entrance that suits the breadwinner. However, this is not the end of the story. 4. Ask yourself the question: Where do I spent most of my time. The logical choice is your bedroom or your living room etc.... Here, this is where you start to look closely at your template and your wife's template and any other family member's template of the 8 house. Where possible the bedroom should be good locations for both parties. Where possible, especially for the bedroom, it should not be the death or disaster for your wife (assuming that the bedroom is auspicious for you). Intangible forces like `spook' and `irritation' in combination to any of your good auspcious locations are acceptable. Of course, it has been stated clearly that the Eight house theory is static Feng Shui and the main purpose is look for a house that suits the breadwinner of the house. Each Feng Shui theory has its specific use. 24. Dear Duc Lu, Please read below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'flying-star' suppressed suppressed> Date: Tuesday, March 23, 1999 12:48 PM Subject: Re: Conditional Interactions elements are different. But on the other hand, given Weak Water and Weak Wood, Weak Water is not able to strengthen Wood that much, also on the opposite end, Wood also exahust Water in order to produce Wood. So both will still remain weak. They should still have some Metal, because Metal will help Strengthen Water, which by then is no longer strong enough to harm Wood. In return, the strengthened Water would then help the Wood bringing both elements into balance. I find that a Strong Water with a Weak Wood would be more compatible. As Strong Water strengthens Weak Wood, so when that happens, Strong Water becomes balanced Water, while Weak Wood becomes Balanced Wood. Thus, this is a better combinations. The Idea about the Five Element is about Balance of the Elements. Yes, I agree with you a beautiful front yard with improve a family perception of the house, especially pleasing when you look out to a beautiful yard reducing stress:) Sometimes, it is not 100% necessary to take the Feng Shui perception of everything. Some issues just don't fit as well. But that is why Feng Shui is very complicated. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

It is simply the the combinations between the two stars and the directions of the Kua number which the direction faces. In fact all the Flying Star is based on the Five Element interactions. The traditional chinese is much more simple to understand and yet each different interactions can tell a whole bunch of story. Yes, because Chen (which is Qian proper han yu pin yin) is also numbering 6 thus, helps to strengthen the influence of the that flying star numbering 6 or 3 or 8. Based on the element influences.
