  1. Dear Harriet, It is difficult for me to give you an honest opinion on the small pond based on current information. Firstly, Shapes and Forms has to be looked into. It would be disadvantages if this location happens to be the `tiger' side of the house. In such a situation, it symbolises a tiger's open (hungry) mouth. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, if a chart is drawn and if this location needs instead i.e. mountain star etc.. then it is again inauspicious. In other instances, if any of the above does not occur, it would seem ok to have the pond there. Usually, we are influenced by where we stay. Thus, if you have business or own part of it, your influence or wealth is related to where you stay. For the gradient curve into your property, one has to be physically present to look at the entire situation. Usually, the most vulnerable locations of the home are the gate, main entrance and windows. The idea is, if these are under threat..." Protect, protect, protect!" Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Anon, Please see below:- Best to use big oval shape leaves rather than sharp pointing edges. Yes, it can be done. But, if the legs are not rounded, it is still a pointed arrow. (Check to see if the rest of the table still has poison arrows aimed at the bed.) Usually, if the table is 3 feet away, then the impact is minimal or negligible. But if the table is next to the bed and the edge is 1 to 2 feet away from the bed, this is a poison arrow (with impact). Yes, you can do so. Firstly, avoid placing any wind chimes facing the temple. It will be good if your unit is at least 4 storey high or higher. The major impact is usually at 1 to 3 storey high. Avoid, any lone or large plants facing it. As such plant or tree is said to be able to harbour a spirit. It is best to use more yang energy e.g. red brickwall or use red curtains within the house. If you are living at 1 to 3 storeys, it is best to use a ba gua mirror with a pair of door gods to `protect' this area. Attached please find an illustration. It is highly inauspicious to have a house situated at a NE to SW direction `cutting' to the temple. Especially if such temple has urns and in close proximity of 1 to 3 kilometres. It is said that spirits, can only travel in a straight line. Thus, this is the rational why some homes with main door at NE or SW are tilted at an angle so that such spirits cannot `come in'. Quite sometime back, I faced the situation as found under this illustration. The luopan, goes haywire, especially at the field close to the temple. Some of these temples are considered `unclean'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Soo Juan, Yes, due to physical contraints, there is not much one can do here. The most important consideration is have a tidy kitchen. Here, remember to keep all forks, knifes and sharp objects of the kitchen. It is inauspicious if such items is placed in a situation, where when one opens the main entrance door, one sees such object(s) e.g. knives or sharp objects of the kitchen. It is preferred that the stove should not be in full view of the main door. If not, best to close the door leading to the kitchen. Here, the stove is usually a location where one suppose to keep the warmth and in such a situation, warmth is hard to retain. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Jordan, Please see below:- Yes, in Feng Shui, this is not ideal. A `coffin' position is where one's leg face the bedroom door. One remedy, although not ideal is to use e.g. a 4 drawer linen cabinet (as a shield). I believe, this is the `coffin position'. Not auspicious. Perhaps, take a look at the attachment to see if it looks like this. If it is, this is the `coffin' position. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Nina, 1. One option is to acquire mosquito larvae granules, which can be found at various plant nurseries throughout the island. The cost for a bottle or packet ranges from S$3.50 to S$4.50. 2. A single tablespoon of these granules can sustain for several weeks. 3. Regarding fish: There are numerous interpretations concerning the quantity of fish: 1. The concept of Yin and Yang suggests that water is associated with Yin (softness). Yin is also symbolized by even numbers such as 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, etc. To achieve balance in a fish tank, it is recommended to have an odd number of fish, as odd numbers represent Yang. This creates a harmonious presence of both Yin and Yang. Yang is represented by odd numbers like 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, etc. 4. Typically, a fish tank accommodates a solitary dragon fish. Although dragon fish are territorial, having one fish is considered to embody Yang, thus ensuring the presence of both Yin and Yang in the tank. 5. For a small fountain, dragon fish or koi fish are unsuitable due to their need for ample space, including both depth and width. 6. While this point may not pertain to Feng Shui, if you intend to keep fish, it may be advisable to replace the fountain pump with a fish tank filter or pump. A fountain pump merely circulates water through a rotating fan, which could result in small fish being harmed, akin to a smashed sardine spread. 7. For a fountain, it is ideal to incorporate all five elements: - Water in the tank (actual water) - Fire represented by lighting - Wood symbolized by a water plant or a plant placed adjacent to the fountain - Earth represented by stones or other objects within the fountain - Metal, which is best represented by a rounded shape of the fountain. Since goldfish (or ranchu, the Japanese term for goldfish) are associated with the metal element, I believe it is unnecessary to adhere to a specific number of fish, especially when the metal element is already present. The reasoning behind not specifying a number of fish is that often, one or two may inadvertently perish, leading to the inconvenience of replacing them each time. This could ultimately result in one losing interest in maintaining the fish. Another factor to consider is that in many cases. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Yung Kwung, A lose-lose situation occurs when one party hangs a Ba Gua mirror above his main door (facing a neighbour's unit). As a result, the neighbour (if he/she is a Chinese, may or most likely have no choice but to hang a reflective mirror to bounce back the Ba Gua mirror. Therefore, it would seem that this has resulted in a lose-lose situation for both. It would be better off, for both of them to call a `truce' and remove each of their mirrors. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Further to the above, please find the attachment, below.
  8. Dear Miriam, Thank you for your sketch:) It certainly helps to understand what you had mentioned. Please see below:- In a pie chart, indents or protrusions do not really matter when superimposing or drawing out the lines for the pie. It is only or during FS analysis that we see whether we can include a cure at a sector. Since your sectors with `pink' are small in comparision to that sector, if a cure is required, then it can be placed within the house (instead of the `pink' areas). For areas with large missing corners, then, that corner may be totally missing thus, in many situations we cannot say `hang' something there i.e. 6 coins. In your pie chart, there should be an additional enhancement i.e. a circle at the centrepoint to indicate the centre of the house for the centre Flying Star numbers: #mountain with #water and a base star. Otherwise, you had correctly drawn a proper pie chart. Please refer to next message for the attachment for more details. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Anon, One way of looking at landed property is to find the frontage of the house. (Or the location with most light coming in) Since this is the frontage or the `entrance' area in such a situation, a grid, with say the main door drawn at the middle can be superimposed on this layout plan. Do note that, an ordinary compass is still required to find the North/South direction so that an appropriate template can be laid on it. In Flying Star Feng Shui, if one notice it carefully, majority of the 24 directional charts or 24 mountains (directions) are almost similar for each period. Thus, IN GENERAL not a major issue whether to take the compass reading from e.g. centrepoint to the house or the compass reading of the frontage. For example, under Period 7 (1984 to 2003), majority of locations in the house facing East has Misfortune/sickness #5 while South has #2 for nearly all Period 7 templates. Therefore, if we can roughly call this "the margin of error". The only major difference is that the interpretations under the eighty-one combinations should not be relied upon since this varies with each of the 24 directions of the Flying Star. Thus no matter if one moves the `main door' to the middle of one of the grids, one muststill align this template to North-South and East-West. Warmest Regards, Cecil PS. Please refer to the attachment below on the two methods of compass reading(s) based on the frontage of a building/landed property

  11. Dear Patrick, Please see below, Basically, qi (beneficial qi) must not flow in a straight line from the main door (directly) right to the back of the house. For the kitchen, in addition to the above, itis very inauspicious to have the kitchen door face the main door - especially if utensils such as forts and knifes are vissible from the kitchen towards the main door. In addition, if there is a wall to screen the back from the front, it must not be a half wall. The wall should preferably cover the entire door. Yes, a screen or divider can be used. For a divider, it should preferably be `air-tight'. Not pigeon hole type of divider. For a divider, it can also have - bottom e.g. wooden cabinet and top i.e. glass framed by an outline of wood. This is good if the house is North-South direction. As little light flows thru to allow as much natural light to flow thru the apartment main door. The hu lu is an authentic Feng Shui tool. But normally, it may not be as effective as a screen or divider. It should normally be used e.g. the entrance to the kitchen rather than say at the back door area. Or at the middle location. A ba gua mirror MUST never be used inside a house. It should be used facing outwards of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Soon Hoe, 1. Yes, one MUST not rely on this report: Eight Aspirations/Life Associations. 2. When one generate the report, we have stated clearly in the report that it is simply too general to be of use to anyone. 3. Unfortunately, there are many (tons of books) written to capitalise on this general concept. 4. In many of the past messages found under this forum, I have cautioned about "sector feng shui" or paying homage to a sector. 5. The rationale is because, this concept simply states that e.g. SW = romance sector. North = career. And this is not personalised to anyone. 6. It is like telling everyone that our romance sector is at South-West. Imagine: how can this be for a million, 2 million or a billion people? How can one best enhance such a sector in-light of competition. 7. Just 3 persons, trying to enhance this sector in the same office, does not necessarily mean that as a end result, one will have romance. 8. The Eight House theory (East four/West four) at least is personalised to an individual based on his/her DOB. 9. The Flying Star Feng Shui has also to be personalised to a home. And it depends on the direction of the main door of the house/office. 10. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Even the popular Shapes and Forms Feng Shui must be personalised to a home / office. For example, not all houses are at a `T' junction. Nor is all houses have a poison arrow aimed at it. Such poison arrows if any have to be neutralised. Please see below:- Currently, there are many resources on the above three. And also how to rank them. Do try to do more homework by doing a SEARCH in this forum for the above topic. In general (the clue is), it is always best to understand: 1. Strength and weakness of each theory or concept. 2. What is the purpose of each concept. Do take note that if one clearly understands the rationale for each of the concept; then one will notice that each concept has a specific purpose, strength and weakness. We glad to learn that you find the reports useful. Many of these reports are already in the latest versions and continually being enhanced. Wamrest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Hoa Luong, Please use the free "Comparison report" in the reports section of this website. It will help you to determine the bining element between u and your bf. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Miriam, As a last resort, if one really (really) unable to obtain a 6 rod hollow windchime, then, no choice, one can still use other windchimes especially if they are metallic e.g. hollow brass rod or hollow aliminium rods. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, Please see below:- Congratulations on your new home! In general, it is always prudent to look at `weaknessess' if any of a new home. Prior to making enhancements. This is usually the key success factor. Try to make sure that your main entrance door is protected. (Usually, there is no threats to the main entrance). But, there is no harm doing a `preventive audit'. Such as looking out of the main door and from all windows of the home. Check for poison arrows e.g. lamp posting slicing thru the main door or window(s) or other threats. Is there a direct path of `air flow' from the main door directly out at the opposite end? As mentioned, there is really no harm looking at `threats' or `weakness' of your home (if any). If this common place in your area/county/country, then this is fine. A pair of lion statues can be used. Most common is to use stone ones either white or granite. But they have to face out. They should also be in a proprotionate size (not too skinny looking). They should preferably tbe smiling as opposed to being fierce looking. Paragoda is genrally fine. As in the past, it is used in Feng Shui both to neutralise `bad vapours' or underground water. If it is also used or placed on a child's study table - for scholaristic achievement. Searh for pagoda in this forum for more on it's placement. For a lawn statue of 'Kwan-Yin' hmmm.... frankly, this is not common place. Worse still if it is easily accessible by dogs. Imagine, a dog, bringing up its hind leg and peeing on the figurine....... There are many rulesets and it is difficult to let you know all in one go. Try to understand more about the strengths and weakness of each FS concept. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Anon, 1. In the past, a butcher is a butcher, a merchant is a merchant. 2. But nowadays, due to multi-skilling, one person may perform various (varied) tasks, it may be much harder to identify the exact element of an occupation. 3. For example, a doctor can be involved in part research. This part of his work can be considered as `wood' element. 4. What can generally be classified under the Wood element? 4.1 Well, think or imagine a tree. For the most part of it's life, it is continously growing (unless of course it is diseased or eaten by termites). 4.2 Therefore, a wood element suggests anything to do with new projects, new technology or growth. Developing new medicine can be considered as wood instead of the water element (as explained below). 5. The traditional way of looking at medicine is simply " BLOOD " or blood letting. Thus, what does blood resembles? Water. In addition, anethetics or use of vapour e.g. laughing gase etc.. prior to an operation has to do with Water element or vapour. 5.1 It is also interesting to note that METAL always goes with WATER BEST. Under the Productive cycle of Five Elements concept, Metal supports water. 5.2 Thus, one notice that gas needs to be contained preferably in a metal canister. 5.3 Perhaps, other than to give doctors a clean look, WHITE or the common white coat / dress worn in hospitals by doctors and (traditional nurses is also white). White = Metal element. 5.4 Therefore, if you ask me, I personally feel at the base of the medicial profession, is in general considered as the Water element. 6. The idea of the Five Elements concept can actually be applied to human beings. 7. In fact, it is best to have an occupation that have at least two or more of the elements. One rationale is, then one does lesser monotonous work. 8. An sample of a life of a modern Geomancer: 8.1 Take for example, would'nt it be more enriching to have a career that e.g. does some paper work, moves around the field? 8.2 For example, I find my occupation interesting. I hope you find yours equally interesting:- 8.2.1 General Computing: As a modern day geomancer: I get to use the computer such as replying forum messages or attending to clients messages. 8.2.2 Graphic Drawings: And also the computer to draw illustrations. 8.2.3 Photographer: I also have to take photos for the forum etc... 8.2.4 Consultations / Audit travels: Meeting clients at their premises, discussing on findings etc... 9. Contrast this to a Geomancer of the past. There was no internet, no bulletin boards in the early 70's and before this date. And, perhaps the geomancer does less `multi-skilling jobs. Do count how many skills you use in your office. Some of us, represent our company and in fact, even Customer Care or support staff, perform Public Relations and even Sales. There are so many varied skills in each of our occupation. And some may belong to any of the Five elements. The more the better for job enrichment. Even in further studies like post graduate studies, the person (in order to have the skill sets) learn or study subjects such as:- Accounting Operations Management Law Human Resource Strategic Planning The idea here is that in order for one to be a CEO, it is believed that a CEO, should understand all key areas of his business functions. To allow him to better appreciate or have an all round grounding of his company. Furthermore, there is simply no RIGHT or WRONG answers to which element e.g. medicine belongs. IT DEPENDS... on how one put forth the argument or reasoning as to how one derive `medicine' is. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Further to what I had mentioned:- Flying Star Feng Shui is used in particular to look at the frontage (water star - if any) of a landed property or locations where there can reasonably be a mountain star. Thus, as mentioned earlier, if Metal elements or Water elements are detected, water or flat level areas can be enhanced - especially if Metal stars are present. For mountain stars, it can be located at the side of the house (next to main entrance) or at the back of the house - if a mountain star is found at that specific sector). The above together with Shapes and Forms MUST be taken under consideration, TOGETHER and should not be viewed separately. Other than the above, or if one is really not into Feng Shui, go for the " FREE FOR ALL " or relying on one's intutition. This is better than relying on a Modern Invention: Black Hat Sect Ba Gua Template. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Additional information: Attached please find a sample analysis using the PIE CHART method of Flying Star Feng Shui. One can notice that in this example, I have extended the lines of the pie chart for SW to look at the frontage of the house. In fact, all the lines of this pie can be extended over to the entire boundary of the house for evaluation using Flying Star Feng Shui. Overall, between the Pie Chart method or the 9 grid (9 equal squares); the Pie Chart chart is (in my opinion) a better one than the 9 grid chart. Although, both can still be used in an interior of a house. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Christa, 1. I am really not sure, what you mean by the Bagua map. 2. I hope you are not referring to the Ba Gua template used by Black Hat Tantric Sect or commonly known as `BTB' as this is a modern invention. 3. However, in traditional Feng Shui, accessment is done with a combination of:- Shapes and Forms Compass School (Eight House and Flying Star) 4. Under the Flying Star Compass School, a chart can be drawn either as:- 9 grids or pie chart. 5. For those drawing a 9-grid chart, should normally use it more for an interior of the home. 6. While those using a pie chart, can use it not only to look at the interior but also extend out the pie in the same direction to look at the exterior. 7. For example, if the frontage of a house has this Flying Star formation:- Period 7 house #7 mountain #7 water Base 1 or Period 6 house #6 mountain #6 water with Base 1 For information #7 is weak metal while #6 is strong metal 8. If one refers to the Productive Cyle under the Five Elements concept, one will notice that METAL supports WATER. "How nice therefore, if we can add water at this location especially outside the house if METAL has been detected. 9. In Traditional Feng Shui, either Shapes and Forms is used and/or Flying Star is used to analyse a sector. This sector can be inside or outside of the house. 10. And if a sector e.g. has a mountain star found inside the house, it can be extended or looked at using Flying Star at the exterior of the house and a `mountain' can be placed at that location. 11. Whether it is Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny) or Flying Star, the common lowest denominator is based on the Five Elements Concept. 12. Contrast this with what you had mentioned below:- This is really not proper Feng Shui. But as mentioned earlier, it is all a MARKETING PLOY to get people to buy products (under the pretense of Feng Shui mystic). Frankly, all one gets is a big hole in the pocket. It is better in such a situation to believe in one's intuition than such a Marketing Ploy. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Jonathan, In Feng Shui, one can either access one's unit or the entire facing of the unit's block (or frontage). Usually, for a unit such as yours, it is best to look at your main door only and not the building's main entrance. Please see below:- But, if your balcony forms part or is " within " the house, then it should be taken into the 9 grid. You can do a search for the word " condo " and there are many case studies especially under the conference: Photo Tours of Interest (with pictures). You should be able to find several resources on condos. Do use the SEARCH feature in this forum to narrow down your search field. If you have any layout plan that you want to upload; feel free to do so. The resources on condos, is also based on questions posted to this forum. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Doctor Z, It is best to give a sketch else, with a top down perspective. I really do not like to second guess or run thru line by line description. Which I feel can lead to miscommunication. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. The new kid on the block. An european designed building. Fortunately, with its frontage facing away from The Gateway. Pictures taken with a Sony DV camcorder with 20x optical zoom...
  23. Attached please find a picture showing an `inauspicious' shop house...
  24. Dear Evelyn, Thanks for your sketch. From the look of it, it seems that your main door opens directly to the balcony. Can I confirm whether is there a straight path of `air' flowing from the main door directly out to the balcony? Or do you have a screen or partition. If this is the case, it is more important to get a screen rather than to get a dragon. Even if one wants to use a dragon figurine, it should be on a wall, facing out of the house e.g. thru an opening such as a window. It must not be allowed to faced a blank wall. Yes, a dragon figurine can help improve on yang qi in the house but, caution about where to place it. It should preferably not also be placed inside a showcase or the show case be below knee height (low level). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Anon, Frankly, there is not much that can be done via Kua (Eight House). For example, if a house is unsuitable, it is unsuitable for the breadwinner. The only cure(s) are usually physical. For example, either changing of rooms that suit us to even relocating the main entrance to face a favourable angle of the owner. In many of the previous postings, I mentioned that Feng Shui is all about improving one's luck. Thus, you may like to further explore your home: Learn whether your home has good or not so good Shapes and Forms. If possible, try to apply Shapes and Forms. You may also like to look at Flying Star Feng Shui. As mentioned above, taking such steps is like trying to improve all luck in all quarters. Contrast this to paying homage to a corner which may not yield improvements unless one looks at all areas. Warmest Regards, Cecil
