The terms Maharajah and Rajah denotes "royalty" in Malay. This is one of the most popular plants, planted in a landed property especially at the front fencing area - as it is very good at camouflage or provide a nice screen 'privacy' screen for a home. And because it's stem (trunk) is red in colour; red at the frontage of a Chinese home symbolises auspiciousness. As the Lipstick palm has partial reddish canes; Chinese like RED as it signifies auspicious connotation. 3.
