myfs_146124
Master Cecil,I read that altar should not share the same wall as the toilet. Does this include all the 4 walls of the bathroom or just the walls where the watercloset and lavatory are attached?I attached a sketch of the chinese deity and ancestor altar. The wall at the back of the altar is the bathroom wall but the shower head and the lavatory are attached to another wall.Should I transfer my altar?Thank you. Staff Cecil Lee Posted March 14, 2011 Staff Share Posted March 14, 2011 These are some considerations:1. When did you last position the altar; there. 2. For example, if you had say moved in many years ago e.g. 6 years ago; and had the altar at that spot for many years; then : "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" applies.3. If you have just moved-in and realised that the location may not be good; then; you have to consider if there are any acceptable or good alternative (or not?) If there is not a "better" location; then this current location is considered the "lesser of the two evils".4. In general; overall; it is still best not to place the altar even if the wall behind it is the niche where one takes a bath. Again; do refer to Para 2 and Para 3; above. Staff Cecil Lee Posted March 18, 2011 Staff Share Posted March 18, 2011 In GENERAL (using the eye-ball method - quick visual look only):-1. Without considering other factors: position marking in RED "A" should be the better choice. While marking "B" is/could/may bethe next best choice. There are other limited choices but these two are often considered asthe better ones:-2. Provided, there is no beam above marking A. Or marking A area is shared with the shoe cabinet;etc...3. While marking in PURPLE "C" is out because it is sharing the same wall as the toilet. Thus for this layout, quite limited in the areas to place an altar. I have added the cabinet and furnitures layout to the floorplan. And marked the blue highlighted wall along the window. Is it advisable to place the altar there? Our hse facing is Southeast3 and maindoor Northwest sector of the hse. Thanks Again.
