myfs_150515
Hi Master Cecil,I am building a 2-storey house and have read up a little on feng shui basics. Among other things, I've learned that it is bad to place stairs directly facing the main entrance (mouth) and to keep windows (eyes) unblocked/free of clutter. In the current iteration of our plans, we have the stairs to the right side of the front entrance; the stairways are perpendicular to the front entrance doors and go both up to the 2nd floor and down to the basement. The stairs are right behind the front elevation windows and obstructing the view of the front windows from the main floor dining area. I've attached a floor plan and a front elevation image to illustrate what I'm trying to describe. Is the location of the stairs considered bad feng shui?Thank you very much for your feedback! Staff Cecil Lee Posted July 23, 2011 Staff Share Posted July 23, 2011 1. In my opinion, if this is truly the main entrance area; everything seems out-of-place.2. The staircase is a contributing factor.3. But the store or cabinet circled in RED is a total eye-sore! See attachment.4. In addition again, there ia another eye-sore circled in PURPLE. Yeap, see attachment.5. In my opinion; I thought I have seen everything... but frankly, this main entrance "AREA" is (no-offense) truly one of the "YUCKS!" I have ever seen! TRULY, no joke! Staff Cecil Lee Posted July 23, 2011 Staff Share Posted July 23, 2011 Please note that of course the current staircase is not the "best" location. But this illustration shows that we cannot just look blindly at the staircase; but also; all the indentations on the left side (when standing at the door looking inwards).Since the main door is like the mouth of the house; an important area where qi, bright hall etc... this sample illustration shows a better way of handling the "interior".The earlier interior is like the internal of the mouth having lots of ulcers or "porcupines" or spikes... myfs_150515
Hi Master Cecil,Thank you so much for the quick response and for your insightful feedback =)As you've illustrated, it would be better to move the entrance doors slightly to the right to allow for a smoother flow of chi into the home. For the areas that you've highlighted dark red, should these areas be completely walled off or could furniture or closet/storage space be placed in these dark red areas as well? As long as the furniture/closets/etc are not directly obstructing the path from the mouth into the rest of the home, would this be OK?Moving the doors affects something else too I think. I've attached another image showing the approach to the front entrance with the doors moved to the right (EntranceAndStairsExteriorInterior_DoorMovedRightV2.jpg). There are two pillars supporting a roofed entrance (to protect from the rain/other elements). If the doors are moved to the right, the right-most pillar is now slightly in front of the right entrance door... is this considered a poison arrow? Should this right pillar be moved so that it doesn't block the right door? And finally, you mentioned that the staircase is not in the best location... what's your opinion of swapping the stairs and the dining area (see attached EntranceAndStairsExteriorInterior_DoorMovedRight_StairsMovedBackV2.jpg); the stairs would be moved back and the dining area would be moved ahead next to the front exterior windows. How would chi flow be affected in this layout? As always, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Master Cecil! Staff Cecil Lee Posted July 24, 2011 Staff Share Posted July 24, 2011 These are some considerations:-1. Frankly, you don't get the earlier idea?2. Your green arrow sign pales in comparison to the TWO red arrows that I had drawn.3. By the way (BTW) these are SHA QI or poison arrows.4. More critically: go find out what this terms means : TRIAGE This is particularly true to determine which is a better location for say the staircase area.
