Career Element

This are some considerations:
1. In today's real world, real people, real careers; be prepared to have such things like what you mentioned not purely belonging to just one element but can also most likely represent : especially TWO or (even more) elements.
2. Thus, the old mindset of: sloting an industry into only ONE single element is "history".
3. Especially if one has some knowledge or look at a guide and figure out that this industry may belong to two elements. Does it sound reasonable? If so, you have your answer!
4. Thus in my opinion, to me, also, what you wrote sounds reasonable.
5. The term multi-tasking is common place today. So is the term: multi-skilling: where often, one does more than one function.
6. Let's draw a parallel: a generalMBA course and degreeis meant to prepare a participant to manage and especiallyGROWa company (and it's value).
6.1. Thus, the course is meant to prepare a person to manage an entire organisation. Such as becoming an MD (mad-dog) or CEO or the head of the organisation.
6.2. Some of the components of such an MBA course includes all areas of understanding of what each of your key functions (departments) does and an appreciation of it.
6.3. For example, the course put one into the shoes of:
6.3.1. Finance & Financial Management (that of understanding your CFO's function)
6.3.2. Accounting function
6.3.3. Operations Management
6.3.4. Marketing & Public Relations
6.3.5. Human Resource and Behaviour and Change Mgmt
6.3.6. and more modules
6.3.7. The course would often include: Strategic Management.
7. Thus if we look or dwell into each of the above function(s); we will realise that wow; an MD or CEO's job is like a jack of all trades. So which element should he /she be classified into?
7.1. The clue here is to determine what is the MD's major role in the company? Of course, he/she is suppose to oversee all departments in the company. BUT, his key role especially in any company is e.g. to make sure that the stocks of the company remain healthy.
7.2 Often, under performing CEOs are shown the door.
7.3. Thus, one of the key functions of a CEO /MD is Strategic Management : planning the direction of a company. Which is the WOOD (GROW the company)element.
8. So long as it makes sense, like what you said; no one can fault your interpretation. The test is "does it sound reasonable?"
