Staff Cecil Lee Posted February 16, 2016 Staff Share Posted February 16, 2016 Using an ordinary compass:-1. Make sure that when taking a reading; often the best is to go to an empty plot of land or grass area or outside of the home to take a reading.1.1. This is because there are reinforced bars embedded within the concrete structures of the home both in the walls and on the floors that may cause fluctuations in compass readings.1.2. Even on an empty plot of land such as grass area, do be careful of embedded metal pieces such as sewerage pipes that may cause the compass needle to sway.2. The easiest is to buy a protractor and use any street directory maps to find the directions. One good source is onemap.sg which uses govt. data survey maps.3. See sample illustrations.
