This time around at their Tanjong Rhu branch at Jalan Batu .. too much garlic smell. A turn-off for me. Other branches also have inconsistent quality. This Tanjong Rhu branch belongs to the elder brother / mum who still runs a stall at Marine Terrace market and food centre. These two stalls does not use the cantonese style noodles that was used at their other son's stall at Old Airport coffee shop.
Staff Cecil Lee Posted January 8, 2019 Author Staff Share Posted January 8, 2019 Soon Fatt Wanton mee at Block 20 Ee Hoe Eating House’s noodle is chewy. Generius portions of wanton with water chestnuts. A rarity given that it is so hard to peel them! The stall proudly displays a Makansutra award! Staff Cecil Lee Posted January 2, 2020 Author Staff Share Posted January 2, 2020 Annually I would visit a client at Penjuru Close. KL style wanton mee. Just $3/-. The small amount of their special black sauce does wonder to the noodles! This is the first time, I refrain from adding or stirring the chilli sauce with the noodles. Very fragrant, noodles chewy and the char siew nice and flavourful. The three wantons were also generous and lovely. Wasted, that it is an annual affair! Hope my client invites me for more years to come!
Staff Cecil Lee Posted January 15, 2020 Author Staff Share Posted January 15, 2020 Yong Chun Wan Tan noodle at Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre What’s unique? This is the first time ever that I had seen a hawker steam the noodles in a wok! See (back of the unit) below:- $5/- with generous helping of five pieces of wanton.. Noodles is really tasty. But not spicy hot.. to my taste.. generally a good effort! Nice! Acceptable...comfort food... However, one regret is that I would like to have kicking hot chilli sauce. As the chilli sauce is too mild or pussy-cat to my liking... This is why, I instead add lots of vinegar green chillies...
Staff Cecil Lee Posted March 6, 2020 Author Staff Share Posted March 6, 2020 Holland Village Market & Food Centre Liang Ji Wanton noodles Typical Pontian Johor style noodles. Staff Cecil Lee Posted October 2, 2020 Author Staff Share Posted October 2, 2020 Wet type of Cantonese style Wanton noodles Not bad. Well balanced flavours. But not spicy enough for me. Luckily their supplementary green chillies complement the noodles. Only $3/-. Thus make it one of the cheapest today. Inside the coffeeshop around Block 338 And next to Teck Ghee Court Food Centre. And it is surrounded by these other stalls.. Okay, not eaten their...
Staff Cecil Lee Posted October 4, 2020 Author Staff Share Posted October 4, 2020 Hua Kee Noodles Extra fine Cantonese noodles made under K.L. Malaysia style black sauce noodles. $3 or $4/- Really reminded the taste of sitting inside a K.L. Coffeeshop eating this noodles. Tasteful an filling. Slightly wet.. but that’s fine. As the noodles don’t soak and expand in this broth. Opted for no chillies. As from a distance from this stall has a strong distinct garlicky smell. Call me a Vampire... I don’t really fancy garlic.. really!
Staff Cecil Lee Posted November 6, 2020 Author Staff Share Posted November 6, 2020 Seng Kee Noodle House at Ubi Simply not nice. $3.50/- The texture of the noodles, the chilli is not to my liking. Staff Cecil Lee Posted November 26, 2020 Author Staff Share Posted November 26, 2020 Old Airport Rd Wanton Noodle Branch at Woodlands Street 31 Not to my taste. Too garlicky!
Staff Cecil Lee Posted December 31, 2020 Author Staff Share Posted December 31, 2020 This Wanton Noodles stall is not the most popular stall in the Hawker Food Centre. $3/- only! But their black sauce QQ wanton noodles are very tasty. Their wantons are really fantastic both in taste and smell. The only thing is of course their thinly sliced Cha siew meat is very dry. But this is expected from a traditional style noodle stall. Tempted to get the spinach noodles. My only concern sometimes is how fresh ate they? The other two stalls: A jack of all trades stall: The most popular stall in the Food Centre: Always long queue especially before opening
Staff Cecil Lee Posted January 18, 2021 Author Staff Share Posted January 18, 2021 Malaysia Chiak Great World City Basically comfort food... nothing special. Photo shows darken and harden char siew...fresh ones are white The five spice powder gravy is awful..and the chilli sauce is very salty... Only the wanton is nice... Staff Cecil Lee Posted January 30, 2021 Author Staff Share Posted January 30, 2021 Previously tried their standard yellow noodles. This time their spinach noodles. Frankly, harder to find a stall selling these spinach (green) noodles. Because of the black sauce added, cannot really tell that it was once a nice green coloured noodles. There are several other wanton noodles stall here. This stall is less busy.. and open early. But must say their black sauce non-chilli version is nice. $3/- per plate even for this spinach version. Can you see the green coloured noodles in this photo? Finished everything on the plate except for the juice..

Staff Cecil Lee Posted August 20, 2022 Author Staff Share Posted August 20, 2022 2nd Storey Depot Heights Shopping Centre, Food Court - stall Formely from Foodhaven $5.50 Overall, not bad. Four generous large wantons with shredded black fungus Noodles, “crispy”. Self help, take all you want chillies : red and green. Would certainly eat, this again. Staff Cecil Lee Posted September 8, 2022 Author Staff Share Posted September 8, 2022 A typical plate of wanton noodles. $4.00/-. Not outstanding, but Okay. Better than some. Added two chicken feet $2/- more. Comes with two generous 1/2 slices mushrooms. But chicken feet not that great… No flavour, pretty plain Jane. Staff Cecil Lee Posted September 9, 2022 Author Staff Share Posted September 9, 2022 Gold 186 Coffee Shop at 333C Yishun Riverwalk Soon Heng Wanton Noodles $4/-. Noodles is “QQ” with nice prawn based sauce. Unfortunately, the char siew is sweet. Not to my liking. But they also give some crispy wantons X 2 pieces = nice. But the soup wanton.. so so. Saw a container full of chicken legs soaked in herbs. After seeing an earlier customer carrying a plate of chicken feet noodles. Did not go for this version. Next visit to nearby Just T.O.P. Yishun Glen, might order other items. LOL
