A little interesting ' history ' of the word Geomancy

Have you ever wondered why nowadays many new Feng Shui sites uses the word " Feng Shui" in them? While Geomancy.net continues to use domain names without the words " Feng Shui " in them?
Why did Geomancy.Net not also use the term Feng Shui?
Well, let me share with you why this came about:-
When we first wanted to get a domain name for this website, even in 1997, nearly all good domain names were already registered or taken up and so happen that Geomancy.net was still available.
Is this an excuse not to get a domain name with Feng Shui in it?
Well, one thing if you really want to get a domain name, it has to be simple to remember and geomancy.net meets the critera. If you want to get the name fengshui, you may have to add words like Chinese astrology to it e.g. Chineseastrology-Fengshui.com Wow really a rather lengthy!
Next, this part is really interesting:-
Do you know that in Singapore and many parts of the Far East (includes Malaysia, Brunei, Sarawak..etc...) most Feng Shui practioners do not call their practice: ABC Feng Shui etc... but majority call their practise: ABC Geomancy Services.
Want to know this distinction?
The reason is that Feng Shui is really not the majority of the Geomancer's livelyhood in this part of the world although it accounts for some of it. This also depends on the specialisation of the Geomancer.
But, rather, if you look carefully at what they practise, you will find that Geomancers practice more than just Feng Shui:
1. Pillars of Destiny
2. Choosing a Baby's Name
3. Choosing an auspicious date for Marriage
etc..
4. Analysis a husband and wife's compatibility
5. Others do face, mole, hand reading and other divinity subjects etc...
The list goes on and on...
There is a `motive' for mentioning this. When we practise or understand Feng Shui, we must always remember that Feng Shui by itself is not `complete'.
In order to excel, you must be able to use all available tools of a " Geomancer " at the right place and the right time!
I hope with this write-up you now have a little understanding of the diversity of Chinese `culture' and Feng Shui alone does not include other disciplines such as Chinese Astrology and other Divinity methods!
Apply them well my friends:)
So it is more appropriate to call a person who applys Feng Shui, Chinese astrology and other divinity methods a Geomancer rather than a Feng Shui practioner. The word Feng Shui by itself conjures a `narrow' field of specialisation or as a person `narrow-mindedness'.
If one day, any of you become a Feng Shui Practioner/Master, do remember not to simply learn one theory e.g. Flying Star and apply this without knowing little else. Do keep yourselves updated and be versed in all aspects of geomancy.
I therefore believe that if you have ever `picked' up a book by Evelyn Lip, I feel that she uses the term " Geomancer " more correctly than anyone else on this subject.
