Staff Cecil Lee Posted July 14, 2000 Staff Share Posted July 14, 2000 Dear Elena,Usually, in my country a `good luck gift' is usually not exchanged on the initial meeting.More importantly, is to meet and have `tea' and have a cordial conversation. The most important element here, in the East is to present your business card by holding it with both hands with your namecard printing facing the associate and handing it `safely' to his hands. This is the most important `gift' that sets the tone for politeness and `respect'.Depending on who had called the meeting, usually the person who initiate it would foot the bill. Alternatively, here the gift can be to `foot' the bill. This means more than any other gifts.Warmest Regards,Cecil Quote On 7/11/00 3:04:00 PM, Anonymous wrote:Hello Cecil & Robert: I needsome ideas for a chinese "goodluck gift" to be presentedupon meeting a new businessassociate.
