Direction of the Main Door

My house has a double-door main entrance. I'm having difficulty in trying to determine the direction the house is facing. When I'm behind the door and place the compass on the floor, the middle point of the entrance says 300 degrees. When I stand right behind the door with the compass in my hand, the midpoint is approx. 292.5 degrees which is the dividing point of W3 and NW1. Why is there a discrepancy and what is the direction of my house? I had purchased a house report using the NW1 direction. If that is not the correct direction, how can I get another report with the correct direction?
Thanks, RTR
