myfs_97478
Dear Cecile,I have always read your post with much interest and now finally I can formulate a question to you which I hope you will have time to answer...I am Kua 1 and hubby is Kua 3 .. thus we have the same good and bad directions ... We are just rebuilding our new house and the kitchen has just been bought .. The kitchen is located in the NE part of the house and in particular I have placed the stove in the NE part as well ... the main door is S . I understand that by placing it on the NE walls the "oven mouth" is facing SE and both these directions being bad directions for us should give us good chi ... is this correct ???Thank you for your time to answer,Lola
Staff Robert Lee Posted October 27, 2003 Staff Share Posted October 27, 2003 Dear Lola,1. Just take note that one Feng Shui School of Thought finds it highly unfavourable for the kitchen to be at NE. In addition, the stove is at NE.2. This School of thought suggests that the kitchen, should not be at the North and NE sectors of a home. It has more the concept of cold winds blowing from the North. And, thus, this affects a stove situated at the North and NE.3. However, I personally find this argument to be not exactly applicable to every geographical locations.4. The idea behind Para 2 is because, it may be hard to cook IF - there high winds blowing into the kitchen from openings close to this. Here, if one is not affected by the winds, then this is not a major issue.5. The idea is also equivalent of the "commonsense approach" to Feng Shui in that a stove should not be placed with it's back at a window area.6. The next more critical point emphasised by nearly every FS practitioner is based on the Yin and Yang concept. Here, it is not ideal for the stove to be just next to the water position.7. Another major consideration is that a stove must not sit below a beam or a water pipe. If water pipe is to be run below the stove, it must not pass the stove within 6 inches distance. Where possible, the pipe should run in a U shape design away from the stove.8. Since both of you are of the same Gua (Kua) then, it is good for the stove to be facing your favourable direction.9. Some Feng Shui practitioners recommend the stove (fire) face the East or SE (wood locations). And alternatively facing south as opposed to north. Since north is the water position. But, here, I find that this may not be practical in many instances. Since some of these positions are inauspicious e.g. the stove facing the back toilet bowl/wash basin etc...10. Under my last point, it is important that the stove does not face the toilet entrance e.g. facing the toilet bowl, wash basin or shower of the back toilet. Quote I understand that byplacing it on the NE walls the"oven mouth" is facing SE andboth these directions beingbad directions for us shouldgive us good chi ... is thiscorrect ??? 11. As mentioned, there are many different interpretations of the position of the stove.12. Some FS practitioners feel that it should be placed facing a bad direction to burn away bad qi. While others feel that it should be in a good location to enhance qi.13. I have already listed, the major considerations regarding the stove. And the above statement above under Para 12 - can have different meanings to different people and practitioners.14. What matters most is to look at the total kitchen in relation to Shapes and Forms - Feng Shui first, then look out for the above points of considerations.Warmest Regards,Cecil Quote On 10/26/2003 11:19:01 PM, Anonymous wrote:Dear Cecile,I have always read your postwith much interest and nowfinally I can formulate aquestion to you which I hopeyou will have time toanswer...I am Kua 1 and hubby is Kua 3.. thus we have the same goodand bad directions ...We are just rebuilding our newhouse and the kitchen has justbeen bought .. myfs_97478
Dear Cecil,Thank you for having taken the time to answer my question.I believe that my kitchen design complies with "Commonsense FS" i.e. stove is not directly next to water or fridge nor infront. There is no window near stove ... no wind or cold air ... etc...I am worried however about the placement of the stove... which school of FS should be correct? should I place it NE/SE so it faces our bad sectors or should it be on E or N wall which are favourable directions for us? Anyway the kitchen has been ordered for NE/SE as it is a special corner unit (Had to have it designed especially!) Really I looked at it also from a decorative point of view so as to make it look nice and comfortable... I do have another question for you regarding the bedroom ... our master bedroom is in the S/SE sector of the house and the bed will have to go on the W wall... My feet will be thus pointing E .. I understand being Kua 1 this is my death position ???? Can I do something about this somehow ... the bed only fits in the room this way ...Thank you for your time.Sending you warm regards from rainy Spain ,Lola
