Dear Sir,
(A) Facing direction:
The last post question on House facing direction and you were saying "it depends".
Pls let me picture my scenario to you...
On 23rd floor, Main door facing SW direction and my living hall's wide window is facing North where the view of Bukit Timah Hill is clear. Hence is my house facing direction "the view of Bukit Timah hill" or using the "main door which is SW direction"?
(B) Changing House Period:
Changing my house to a Period 8 house, what are the things to do? It was mentioned in Lillian Too's "Flying Star" for Period 8 that there are mainly three things to activate that. Firstly, organise party at home. Secondly, organise a lion dance at home. And thirdly, giving a fresh coat of paint (recommended colour of paint is yellow which is the earth colour). Therefore, are these or one of these activities is enough and appropriate for the occasion? Otherwise, pls kindly advise.
(C) Altar location
I was once told by a Taoist that my ancester altar is badly located. Presently, it is located in my Kitchen(near window)which is the south location of the house. It seems inflicting bad omen in me in recent years. I am starting to worry on what he has told me now. How can I change that? Pls desperately advise.
It may seem many questions but I really need your advise on the above especially the "Altar" thing!
Thank you very much and your advise is deeply appreciated.
Best regards,
Ng C F

Since your flat is so high, you should take North as the facing direction.

Frankly, for a standalone (landed property) home, it is much easier to fly over the new period. Since for the landed property, removing some of the roof-tiles and replacing them (plus cleaning the rest) would help.
In my opinion, since we are just begining to change qi, it is better to do what is mentioned by you, perferably one or two months later rather than during this interim `cut-off' period.
For an apartment, usually to play safe, one symbolic method is to paint the entire ceiling. This is symbolic of removing the roof of the "apartment". As lion dance may not be practical for an apartment.

If you have done a search for the altar, e.g. ancestor altar should preferably:
1. share the same wall as the toilet
2. face the dinning table. And in your case, most likely face the preparation of food or doing of laundry etc...
(There are more conditions to avoid in the placement of the altar).
But, I would seriously agree that other than the "Kitchen god" one should not be placing ancestor altar in the kitchen area. " VERY SUAY" (very unlucky).
As mentioned, most HDB apartments are small, and often, the laundry, washing / drying and kitchen food preparation, the toilet in the kitchen area, handling of knifes e.g. to cook etc... washing dishes etc....
In general, if one is not sure when to move the altar, it is best to first, find a suitable location, preferably in the living room facing e.g. the balcony area. Avoid, looking into the bedroom. Next, generally, the best date(s) to move it is on every 15th Lunar month or the 1st lunar month (full moon) day.
Honestly, few if ever anyone would place their ancestor tablet in the kitchen. Anyway, hopefully, this will be in the past for you.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
