The "spilt-levels" is very common for many homes and apartments built in the 1970's.Here, the idea is that the living room CAN be lower than the dining room. Not the other way around. Usually, this "spilt" is only between the living and dining. And other dining is suppose to be at the "back" area of the home. The kitchen and yard should also be if possible the same level or "slightly" higher than the kitchen is OK.Many Feng Shui practitioners do not like the idea of the living room higher than the dining. And conversely, the dining higher than the back yard / kitchen area (if it is at the back of the home). Here, we can imagine that the home slopes downwards from front to the back. Thus instead of "water" at the frontage and mountain behind; the above in general is considered not good Feng Shui.I have included a text attachment which I had previously calculated to show what are the preferred number of steps for the homeWarmest Regards,Cecil------------ Please note the following:-----------------------Introduction:1.
