Dear All, Preventive Maintenance of Geomancy.net ====================================== Early this morning 17 Feb 2002 (GMT +0800) at around 1.00am to 10.00am; we were doing server maintenance and backups to our system. We had backup all recent updates, clean up several older webpages / website which were still found in our website, we did a thorough chkdsk on the entire harddisk to prevent any file errors etc, plus several spring cleaning on our web server. Some users e-mailing to us during this period may also be affected as the mail server was also brought down for sometime. So please re-send us your mail if you were affected. During this cleanup we also updated the My FengShui website (changing of server path to improve its overall performance, plus a routine cleanup & backup on the user database). 2. In the past due to a way the forum was designed, it was sometime hard to find some of the new messages particularly if they were posted in sub-topic and in different conferences particularly after it enters into a new day. We have improved this for our own admin and your benefit. 3. Forum Mailing List subscription, we have been developing a way for users to easily subscribe/unsubscribe to the various conferences from our external webpages. We have been successful and should be able to launch the new module in the coming weeks. 4. Geomancy.net older website and templates are removed to avoid duplicating confusion of different layouts. Dear Alexia, In regards to this personal directions, if I am not wrong you are refering to the Ba Zi Luck Pillars. Ba Zi Luck Pillars ================== If the directional elements are extremely favourable for you, then you should take advantage of it to do something you wish (ie start a business etc). Otherwise, you should enhance your personal self to reduce the inauspicious period. Dear Lise, There are a few Feng Shui theories which allow you to find you something about your personal element. The two least accurate method are:- 1. Taking the year of birth (ie water dragon year to mean that you are a water dragon year). 2. Taking the Kua Element (ie. Kua 3 - Chen which is Wood). So in you case you conflict of the element is due to the above. Both are not a very theory to determine your element simply because it only takes into account the year of birth. The more accurate way is to use the Ba Zi Feng Shui which takes in account the day, month, year, and hour of birth, giving you the most accurate element. (ie. a wood person born in the year of a water dragon, a fire person born in the year of a water dragon etc). And based on a True element analysis done on the website, you are actually a Fire person born in the year of a Water Dragon year. Dear Users, In our recent publishing, we found a few errors in the templates (ie extra lines which makes the formatting out a little, plus a few clean up in directories resulting the some CSS files not being called properly.) The following are now fixed:- 1. Fun with Feng Shui The graphics in the Introduction to Feng Shui had some path error in our local publish and website publish which had the graphics file located wrongly, thus the graphics for this portion sometimes cannot show up properly. 2. My Feng Shui navigation frame, the colour scheme file will misisng during our clean up. 3. Some page formatting was not consistent. We apologise for the delay in updating these that as sometimes it is quite difficult to notice as our browser and webserver frequently cache it making us seems to see that everything is ok. ............................................. Dear Users, We have updated our Pillar of Destiny Premium. In the last update we added the SCORE module for detemrining if the 10-year period is good or bad. This was done with a complex tree structure of 10-year, 5-yearly, yearly and 6 monthly analysis. With this flow structure, it was easy to deduce if a 10-year period was good or not. However, it does not actually yet represent whether a selected year (ie 1938) is actually good or bad. So we just added a new module to analyse only any selected year. This is done with looking at the 10-yearly and the selected year luck pillars to determine along with a detailed check for any clashes / harms / punishment etc which is found. This allowed users to better assess if a selected year is good or bad for them. With this separate yearly analysis, we will be able add more yearly analysis and even monthly analysis if necessary in future releases. In addition, we made a little fine tuning to include text for indentifying the wealth periods analysis in the 5 element analysis to let you know when you entered into a period where the wealth year is found. These wealth periods can be good and bad for you depending on whether you are a Strong or Weak and whether there are any clashes in that period. This is highlighted now in BOLD GREEN text. Dear Users, We have made several improvements to two key areas of the website:- 1. SEARCH WEBSITE ================= As our resources and website is growing, there is a need to have a larger, and faster searching, and a more fully featured search engine to cater to the needs of this website. So we have added a higly scalable DATABASE Search Engine which will be able to search through the entire website very quickly and accurately. It also comes with several features that will make your searching more accurate and faster. Currently this search only searches ALL PUBLIC pages hosted on our external webpage. It does not integrate a search into the Forum messages or Picture messages or other seach components on the website. In the near future, we will make it in such a way that it will be able to link all the search components together as that feature is still in BETA development and thus we have decided not to release it until it is ready. 2. RESOURCE SECTION ==================== We have been going through our resource website and have been re-ogranising it a little so that it is easier for you to find and learn the Ancient Art of Feng Shui. We have put together a Major Feng Shui Theories resources so that it focuses on grouping all resources pertaining to that topic into a central location. (Some parts of that website is still under construction but we will expect to see a lot more resources added in the coming weeks). That portion of the website will deal with each theory (ie shapes & form, eight house, flying star, pillars of destiny etc as individual theories and thus all and any related resources in the future will be added to that section). 3. UPDATES TO CONTACT PAGE ========================== We have added two other key address focusing on student@geomancy.net for a personalised one-to-one e-mail clarification for any questions on course materials. As well as a new events@geomancy.net to allow people to contact us for Feng Shui Events related topics that we organise in the future. 4. FUN WITH FENG SHUI WEBSITE - 5th Edition =========================================== We are also working on an IMPROVED Fun with Feng Shui website with many revisions to graphics to update the graphics so that they all use the Chinese Han Yu Pin Yin and to make use of Simplified Chinese Fonts for any Chinese text that will be used on this website in the future. Dear Users, We have made a few new improvements to the website:- 1. MEMBERS AREA =============== There are a few changes we made so that you can better access our Member Areas without having to re-login everytime you need to access our Analysis Tools or Free Advice Forum. If you do save your login details, this is what will happen:- 1. Next time you try to access your Members Area, it will automatically log you into as a Member. You no longer need to re-enter your Login Details. 2. This is also extended to the Free Advice Forum in two ways. 2a. In the past when you click on as Guest, it will log you in as a Guest User, and when you need to post a message you need to login as a member. However, with this update, if you do click to log in as a Guest User, it will automatically log you in as a Registered User. 2b. This is the same for logging in as a Member. In addition, we added a separate page which defaults the login for the Forum to the My Adviser section as opposed to you having to select the My Adviser section in order to login to the Forum. HOWEVER, at this stage one limitation is still reading the messages from the quick links provided by the Message Extraction. (This is still currently defaulted to login as a guest user. We will later see how we can do the same for that.) 3. So because of this, we added a Members Logout, in case for two reasons were you need to login as a different user or simply want to remove the login details so that no one can access your account from your browser. NOTE: Here that this is a VERY USEFUL feature but it should be used for only your HOME PC and NOT any of those public browsers (ie Internet Cafe or Office PC). We have added a warning for this so that users can be aware about it if you intend to make use of this feature. 2. MEMBERS AREA - My Adviser Account Creation ============================================= We have fixed up a bug for those trying to sign up as new users and then when they try to create a My Adviser Account, it pops up two different New User Signup form which creates a little confusion there for the users. 3. MY ADVISER FORUM =================== We have updated the layout for the My Adviser Forum it is now faster and also conforms to the rest of the website's design and layout. 4. AUTO-REPLY & CONTACT PAGE ============================ We have improved the Contact Us page by now dedicating different support staff to answer different e-mail contacts. This will ensure that you get the fastest response from us. In addition, we added the auto-reply to each of the key e-mail address so that you will be notified as soon as we received your e-mail. Instead of having to repost again for fear that we might missed it. 5. OTHER MINOR FIXES ==================== We clean up a few HTML page codes for errors, and in the recent update for the MyAdviser Forum to standarize the Layout, the News Extraction Module links did not bring you to that current message. In order to better consolidate the various additional features added since the last site update, we found the need to further improved the site structure and layout so that you can better access all the various site features on this website. We made sure that we kept what made the recent updates so good (the easy navigational links). Now we made it even better with the latest changes to standardise the site structure and colour schemes if any. 1. LAYOUT IMPROVEMENTS ====================== You will find that the latest revision is extremely friendly and visually appealing to view. In addition, we also made many fine tunings to the website codes which further optimise the web page loading which still supports cross-browser compatibility. 2. SECTION RE-ORGANISATION ========================== We have revised several of the sections so that they now better reveal all the key features of the website by moving some of the categories previously under a sub-category into the main categories. These changes makes finding useful parts of our website extremely easy. In addition, we did this as we are busy expanding many resources into different sections of the website. As our website resources is enormous, we added a few features that will allow users to e-mail to themselves or friends URL or pages which you like to remember for future refrence. So we added two features E-mail this page or Bookmark this page for your personal reference. 2. We also added a Print this page to allow you to print out the content of that webpage you are accessing. 3. Our Forum has been always buzzing with activities and often many updates are posted through our forum as compared to the external news pages. Thus to make our website even more interesting and to also allow such updates to be added to the main page, we created a special script that allows us to dynamically update the latest message posted in the forum to be displayed and linked from external pages. So you will never miss a new update and can also easily access new messages that was posted. Other Minor Fixes ================= 1. We also fixed up the CSS coding for the entire website so that users who use Netscape 6+, and Opera 6+ will be able to enjoy the website just as users using Microsoft Internet Explorer. 2. Live Chat, we further enhanced the live chat system so that it now display a photo of the helper. For the very first time you will be able to see us just as if we are there. (This has been a long awaited issue where many users often like to see how we look.) 3. Others less minor stuff are redirection of older links, clean up of My Adviser Forum features and layout.
