  1. Dear Clarence, I am not sure, if one is aware of what is a "wealth" name. Let me elaborate:- 1. For the Chinese, often is a child is born, a grand-parent or parent would often find a geomancy to look at a `suitable' name for a child. 2. For example, when my elder brother was born, my grandfather, went to see a geomancer. Under his ba zi, he is found to lack `water' element. Thus, one of his name contains water. Therefore, his `English' name has a Hokkien " Chwee " or water. 3. When my turn came, I was found to have balanced elements in my ba zi. Thus, my Chinese name has a " Tiong " or " middle/centre" which is symbolic of balance. 4. For example, please take a look at this Attached, sample chart: balance-of-elements1.gif 4.1 Under this chart, one can find that I had produced various sections marked in RED: A, B, C. 4.2 S/No. A shows all of a person's elements: Year, Month, Day, Hour; House of Life and House of conception. 4.3 S/No. B shows what are one's favourable and unfavourable element. And what is one's wealth element. 4.5 Under the sample example, this person is considered as a "Strong Metal" person. And since he is a strong metal person; his wealth element is wood element. 5. But Wait! Under the Chinese name (Name naming convention): If one's wealth element is considered as a "wood element" it does not mean that one's name has to have the wood element. 6. One has to confirm with a check on how much each elements that we have. In this example, it is coincidental that this person lack wood. Thus, for the Chinese, one can find one's name with "wood" stroke or one character that has wood in the name to help to balance his chart. 7. In many situations, wood element may not be the correct element to use for one of the characters in a name. We often refer to the marking "C - Balance of Elements in Your chart" to confirm this. 8. Since the Five Elements is about balance; just because our wealth element is "wood" we must not have our entire name full of wood. If not, the child when he/she grows up may end up as A DEAD WOOD. Warmest Regards, Cecil Clarence
  2. Dear Lei Sun, This idea was first mooted out by several Austrailian Feng Shui practitioners in the past: this was around the mid 1990's. But, several of these practitioners had retracted this method. Even down-under, one should still use the current North-South compass orientation - and should not flip it to South-North. This is the current consensus amongst most Traditional Feng Shui practitioners. Warmest Regards, Cecil I am living Best Regards Lei
  3. Dear Sanjay, It depends. Often for the purpose of looking at an office; we often sectionalise or subdivide each room / office room into sectors. But for a home, it is much easier to take the complete home and do a full single chart. But if one's home is huge e.g. the left wing or the right wing etc.. than it can be further subdivided. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Meei Jinn, Often if you are close to the equator, I personally find that the geographical North often coincides with the magnetic North. For a layperson, one often use a hiking compass. It still points to the magnetic north. For us, we often use a higher grade compass like the Suunto or other better brands. This is because; the higher professional compass often are "balanced" to a specific zone. For example, the Suunto brand categorise the world into 5 different compass zones. Northern hemisphere which includes Canada/North America falls under Zone 1 etc... But one is not expected to buy this type of compass. From my personal analysis; if you are in Singapore, more likely the magnetic vs geographic north are similar. The only thing to watch out is: if your home is above a power station or close to it. This may change the magnetic compass point to 10 to 20 degrees diviation. And this has to be considered, when accessing such a home. In Malaysia, (KL); often the geographic north vs magnetic north is in my opinion within tolerable limits. If one applies Flying Star Feng Shui; often there is sufficient allowance of 15degrees - variance (that sway) the reading from one sector to another. (Flying Star compass directions are based on 24 specific directions - every 15 degrees) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Sheila, 1. For keeping fishes, often, it is not necessary to keep specific types of fish(es). 2. Most people, rear fish, more for the "love-of-it" than Fneg Shui. 3. Many fish lovers, prefer to keep fishes such as "dragon-fish". And good quality ones are not cheap. Often can cost from US$388 to US$10,000 per fish. 4. Keeping "flower horn" fish has an element of commercialisation `hipe' in it. 5. One of the user in this form has a `strong' personal distaste of `flower horn' or Louhan fish. He calls it (in local hokkien slang - " Longkang Fish ". 6. In Hokkien, Longkang refers to the drain. And this is where this fish originated. From common drains. Here, another implication of drain is - "low quality". 7. I understand, there was a `gimmick' in recent years, where a seller of the fish - said that there is a `lottery' number found on the side of the fish. But however, how often does the same number turn up every week as a winner? 8. In my opinion, all this hipe about the flower horn is just a "gimmick". 9. Frankly, I would personally prefer more `peace' loving fishes. Try placing two flower horn fishes in the same tank (and not separated). They will sure to `fight'. 10. These fishes unlike goldfishes , rancho's (Japanese gold fishes) or the bigger carp - kois. Kois, and gold fish are `friendly' fish(es). And one can keep as many as the fish tank can contain, and they can live harmoniously. 11. Therefore, under "symbolism" in Feng Shui, the flower horn fish - are not `peace' loving, territorial... 12. I do not want to sound cruel but *JOKE* if one gets sick of the `flower horn' - it can go to the cooking pot and perhaps fed to one's pet dog. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Anon, Further to what I had mentioned, the key to understanding Flying Star Feng Shui is that "one must not simply - only eat and sleep on this method". I often see, some FS practitioners get into heated arguments on Flying Star Feng Shui. Looking only within the four walls in the home. Often, what is most important is that Flying Star is but one of the many methods used. Further more, I personally find that what is most important is the external factors. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Brenda, 1. Often, the remodel would "Fly" your home to a Period 7 chart given that you had built two new rooms to your home. 2. Nevertheless, if you have the time, you can chart out both the Period 6 and Period 7 chart. 3. Since last year, I had been drawing both Period 7 and Period 8 charts for all on-site clients. Unlike Period 6 charts: Period 7 and Period 8 seems quite `similar' in problem areas for the same sectors. 4. Often, the difference would be instead of sickness sectors; this has been `replaced' by #4 or #3 (bad wood). And often, in many instances, if the Period 7 chart is not that good; Period 8 also does not seem that good also. 5. If one has the time, try to chart out your home for both Period 7 and Period 8 - and most often, one may get the same conclusion (as under Para 4 above). 6. Under Feng Shui: Water positions can be looked at from: 6.1 Shapes and Forms Feng Shui and 6.2 Flying Star Feng Shui. When one mentions trying to improve one's luck under Period 8; this is based on Flying Star Feng Shui. We must still make sure that our home conform to Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. And afterwards, try to see if we can `chase' after #7 or #6. Since #7 and #6 are sectors with metal; (and if the other sectors) can support water - then we can use water to activate this sector. For example: if the sector has #7 mountain and #7 water stars than we can add water to metal to activate it. Therefore, please note that placement of water position under Flying Star has much to do with numerology of the #number(s). And this is contrary to our "whims and fancy". Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Anon, I believe, since you have been staying in this home, already. If you have been staying in this home for several years; one best way - is to chart out two charts. And compare each chart to your current situation. And check which chart coincides with your current situation. This is a much better way to resolve your situation. Anyway, often, one thing will not change for the same period home i.e. the base numbers. Plus the Year numbers are the same for all charts. In both of the arguments that you had mentioned; both are not wrong. As mentioned, above, draw to charts and see which more accurately `fits' your situation. Most often, because of the common base numbers; Period 7 homes will often have the same characteristics e.g. East and South sectors are unfavourable. In addition, for this year: North is not as favourable - given that North has #2 and South East has #5. Already the `fixed' base for Period 7 : East = #5 and South = #2. For each given period there are always TWO FIXED charts i.e. base chart and year chart. And with these two already `fixed', seems like in reality: even before, we ADD any #mountain #water to this chart, often, some sectors will remain bad for majority of the charts. For posting an attachment, do the same for how you had posted your message but also please "CHECK" the button "Attach file or picture". And follow the instructions, thereon to post a picture. Please remember to use .jpg instead of .bmp to reduce the size of the file prior to posting the picture. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Sagarika, As mentioned, previously, Feng Shui is not a `cure all'. Your situation has very much to do with "Human / Man luck" situation - than Earth Luck (Feng Shui). It is good to hear that both of you are in love:) Frankly, it would be a waste of money and time to go and buy a pair of mandarin ducks. What is more important is that your love endures! And often, this superseeds any other hurdles. And, in such a situation, often, many parents - will one day yield to your answers! Both of you continue to build on your relationship - and most of all be patient with your parents! Warmest Regards, Cecil Can Feng Shui help me in Waiting for your
  10. Dear Stan, Under Flying Star Feng Shui; each number represents an element. This is where #7 represents `small metal'. While #1 represents water element. And #6 represents `big metal' Often a "fail-safe" system is where should one of the 7 gold fish dies, often, one is still left with 6 gold fishes with 1 black fish. Under the Productive sequence of the Five elements concept: Metal supports Water element. Thus, this is why, 7 gold fishes with 1 black is often mentioned - for fish tank. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Anon, In the `Holy Trinity' of Chinese destiny and astrology:- 1. Heaven's Luck This is our given luck. 2. Earth Luck 2.1 Here, a percentage of our earth luck (Feng Shui) can influence `romance/relationships'. 2.2 Shapes and Forms and Compass School Feng Shui. A simple example of how romance can influence us is: often, if the `mouth' of our house is big e.g. on the frontage area, there is both a main entrance as well as a patio area where often, the owners - fully open the sliding door area of this patio/living room. Often in such a situation, children may not get married or remain bachelors .... 2.3 Flying Star Feng Shui In some homes, combination of star numbers has significance of "poor romance luck". In some of my past messages, one can see combinations of mountain with water that can influence - poor romance luck. 3. Human (Man) Luck Here, we must try to find opportunities to interact with the opposite sex etc... Frankly, there is no harm if you like to `display' pigs etc... Especially if it makes one feel "comfortable". There is no magic relating to this. For example, if one is born in the year of the rat: one do not necessarily need to keep a "rat" in the home etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. BAGUS.COM AND SATU.COM: Resources on CAN OR CANNOT BUY? URL:- Either http://www.bagus.com OR http://www.satu.com I finally found some use for these two `highly prized' Malay domain names which I own for many years:) - Received many, many offers on them.... A. BAGUS.COM 1. What is the pointer? Locally, it is easy to type this URL to go directly to the " CAN OR CANNOT BUY SERVICE". 2. In the Malay language, BAGUS means " GOOD ". 3. B.A.G.U.S. is an acronym for " BUY A GOOD UNIT SERVICE " B. SATU.COM 1. In Malay language, SATU means "NUMBER ONE". 2. S.A.T.U. is an acronym for " SELECT A TOP UNIT " Every day, I am flooded with lots of requests for "CAN OR CANNOT BUY?" And it is much more easier for me to ask users to visit the above URLs. For those who do not need the service now, can in the future, simply go directly to the above links. (It saves me the trouble of explaining or directing thru this website (Geomancy.net) to such a specific page. Wishing Those of you who are house hunting! All the Best! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Anon, 1. The Chinese `Holy Trinity' system consists of three categories:- 1.1. Heaven Luck ================ What one is suppose to be `born with' 1.2. Earth Luck =============== The luck coming from our home or (office) environment. 1.3. Human (Man) Luck ====================== Frankly, what you are "after" here has more to do with `Human' or man luck. 2. These three "Luck" factors is also commonly known as the "Holy trinity". 3. Often, if you post such a question (even) at Authentic Feng Shui websites: 3.1 Some of the replies could be e.g. "to activate" your "romance" luck at the South-West sector of the room or house. 3.2 Then, "coincidentally" the web site (will try to push - or sell their products) , has fabulous products that can seemingly enhance your "romance" sector. For example, perhaps, the recommendation is to buy their "pair of mandarin ducks" or a special flower pot to enhance such a luck. 4. The BANE of Sector Feng Shui =============================== 4.1 In the past, I gave a distinctive example of the flaws of "Sector Feng Shui". 4.2 Case Study:- ================ 4.3. There is this very beautiful and (attractive) new comer to the office. 4.4 The three (single) males in her office - suddenly woke-up and wanted to woo her. 4.5 All three of them happened to read some Feng Shui book(s) that says to `activate' their romance corner. 5. "The Competitors at work" ============================ Male Person A : He placed 1 rose on his SW corner of his work table. Male Person B : (Not to be outdone) saw Person A place 1 rose; and not to lose out; had placed 9 roses on his office work table; as well as 9 roses in his SW sector at home. Male Person C : (Again, saw Person A and B) and decided that he should be the one to "WIN" her. HE MUST! So, he wanted to out-do the other two. Male Person C : Therfore, placed 99 roses on his SW table at the office and 999 roses in his SW corner of his bedroom. Guess What? While all three placed such things on their table AND HOPE for the `sky to fall down'; Nothing happened!! Instead, this lovely girl met an ordinary man at her home's bus stop. Often, when it rains, this kind man often offered to do kind deeds for her! The morale of the story? " Do not wait for the sky to fall down. If it does, one may even be struck by lightning! And be struck-off the face of the earth! " Erh.. don't be shy... Try to find opportunities to have a conversation and perhaps, hopefully, it may lead further than this! "O WOMAN -> GO FORTH AND SEEK YOUR MAN" If you have to LIKE THE CAVE MAN; "CLUB YOUR MAN, AND DRAG HIM TO YOUR DEN". BUT DON'T CLUB HIM TO DEATH! JUST KNOCK HIM TEMPORARILY UNCONSCIOUS ONLY". One last thing: GOOD LUCK! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Jen, It is better if you have a sketch; for me to understand better the situation. This is because, I still unable to visualise where the staircase is leading up to the second level. Or are there two staircases on each side of the foyer leading up to the second floor? What is directly opposite the main door i.e the other end of the foyer? Is there a room or just a door or window leading out to the back area? Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, 1. To the Chinese, it is inauspicious to have the legs facing outwards towards the bedroom door. This is often called the `coffin' position. (Where, traditionally, we bring out a dead person: legs first - head later out of a home. 2. A bed need not be farther away from the door, but as mentioned, it is best not to face the door. (For privacy, it is preferred that we often do not want to sleep too close to the door.) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Anon, 1. Perhaps, we can look at it from a different perspective: 2. Could one night light imply "ONE NIGHT STAND?" Or worse if there are two night stands? Does it mean that one of the spouse has "TWO NIGHT STANDS?". *JOKE* 3. Frankly, these are pretty minor in Feng Shui. But on an asthetic side, often, a queen bed seem to look `more balanced' or uniform with two lamps on each side. Then again, it is not very critical in Feng Shui. 4. Here, we can look at it also from "commonsense" approach i.e. it would be more convenient at night for each partner to turn on and off the light when they go to e.g. the bathroom or outside the hall. Otherwise, the next time, if you happen to visit a friend's home or even a relative's home: and find only one night light - most likely - that partner is `hand-pecked' or alternatively "the controller" of lights? Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Anon, 1. If the apartment is high; i.e. if one looks out of the window and cannot see the pole; then it is not a threat. 2. Often, an apartment that is higher than 4th storey, would not have a lone lamp post slicing into it. 3. In several studies, there were no reported evidence that power lines cause `Sha qi'. - Magnetism from powerlines is unlike radiation e.g from the sun or micro-wave etc... 4. For the barren field, it is ok if it is not an entire `long stretch' e.g. streching from several miles. If the field is e.g. a small area such as one or two foot-ball field and after this, there are building complex; it is usually ok. Warmest Regards, Cecil Warmest Regards, Cecil Thank you.
  18. Dear Anon, House numbers has more to do with one's preferences or culture. In particular, many Chinese (Cantonese) do not like number number 4 or if a series of number sounds inauspicious. Otherwise, there is no basis in Feng Shui on house numbers. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Santanu, Please see below:- Currently, even with the Chinese 7th month, I am currently very busy with continously never ending stream of audits and may take sometime to reply to all the questions posted here. I am Santanu Biswas - My date of birth: The most practical approach in applying Feng Shui is via "priorities". Here, we should be aware of what are CRITICAL and what are NICE-TO-HAVE situations: Critical issues: 1. Shapes and Forms of the room 1.1 Often, our placement of beds and furniture e.g. work/study table has much to do with the layout of a bedroom: where is the bedroom door, what shape does the bedroom take? where is the toilet, toilet door; where are the windows? For condos, often, the built-in wardrope has been `fixed'. 1.2 Thus, often, if the room is small, there are not much locations where we can place the bed or the study desks etc... 1.3 Light Qi Often, if our room (or study room) windows are directly facing the afternoon sun e.g. West or even East, it would not be appropriate to place the study table facing e.g. the afternoon sun. Imagine the poor child, has to study "with his eyes" facing the afternoon sun. It is a true torture indeed! Here, one cannot blame if the child asks for sunglasses to study! (Worse is, that this location - directly facing the west sun can be quite hot!) 1.4 Thus, under the Eight House /4 Good-Bad directions, even if WEST is this child's best direction; we should not merely follow this concept blindly. Thus, from this simple illustration, try to differentiate between what are "Important/Critical" and what are "Nice-to-have". If this simple structure is applied, I am sure, one will not get confused. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Fran, 1. For a home, often, if things are not too good, there is a good chance that the Shapes and Forms of the home (either external and interior may have problems). Often, some of the external issues include: wrong placement of water positions etc... 2. Under Compass School of Feng Shui, if one had already stayed in a home; often, what we (practitioners) do is to draw several Flying Star charts to look at the home to see if it `matches' the problems that has been faced inside a home. 3. Thus instead of trying to figure whether the home belongs to period `X' or `Y'; the most practical approach is to try to do a chart of the current period, first e.g. Period 7, since you had mentioned that there were some renovations done during this period. 4. For example, currently under Period 7, the worst locations this year is the "North" compass direction. While East and South are also issues concerning Period 7. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Gek Soo, There are two ways of looking at fire positions: 1. The stove can be considered as a fire protection. Not so much of activating it but rather to see, if it is at a favourable location. 2. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, often, the star numbers at a specific location has to be looked at. And, if there are imbalance in a sector, we can in this way `activate' a "fire element". For example: Period 7 South-East 2 (135 degrees house) East sector has:- mountain star #6 water star #4 base star = 5 Here, Metal 6 destorys wood, wood element is destroyed or weakened by metal. Wood star 4 is inauspicious. However, meal is not sufficient. Here, a FS practitioner may recomend using Fire element to this sector. Thus adding a link of Fire to: Wood (4) -> Add Fire -> Earth (5) and -> Metal (6) This flow will be acceptable under the productive sequence of the five elements. Under this same SE chart: South sector has: mountain #3 water #1 base star #2 Under this sector: Wood helps to exhaust water, wter element is weaken by wood, which inturn makes wood stronger. And there is no elements to control or neutralise it. Hence, Fire element can be added to neutralise it and at the same time provide a positive productive flow: Water -> Wood -> add Fire -> Earth Alternatively, one can still use an alternative: Metal in all the above two examples. For those who are new here, please don't ask me questions like what are mountain, water stars etc... Please do SEARCH for informatin on Flying Star Feng Shui. The other area where `fire' element is activated is based on one's Ba Zi elements. If for example: if one is considered as a Strong water person, then fire element is considered as the water person's wealth element. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Dear Kathryn, Please see below:- On 8/14/2003 5:35:59 AM, Kathryn wrote: Frankly, there is not much "productive" inputs that can be gotten from the concepts like wealth/fame; helpful people or this sort of "Feng Shui". Honestly, such `fixed' concepts are often too general to be of use to anyone. For a start, is it still possible to `undo' the things that you had done previously. This is because, currently without much information or nor applying proper Feng Shui eg. Flying star etc... I don't have a clue (or is gropping) in the dark. Here, you may have to use `trial and error' FS. In my opinion, do try to forget about the notation of " relationship corner ", " creativity section " i.e. Sector "FS" or paying homage to a sector. - It will not work. More likely, if it does work, it has more to do with "psychology" or what is known as "Man/human luck". Pure Feng Shui assessments has nothing to do with "man/human luck". As pure Feng Shui has to do only with the Earth luck. Or qi flow. There are two types of Man/human luck: 1. Being `connned' into buying all sorts of products = buying a hole in one's pocket - while enriching the people who make a profit out of such sales. Often, such products costs very little to produce but because of the mystic behind how wonderful they are, these products are sold at very high mark-ups. 2. Relationships Often, building up relationships; friends, companions etc... takes some effort - and are `free'. Firstly, remove all those `trash' and organise your room such that there is a place for work and a place for rest. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Sonali, 1. The most important consideration for a home is, first and foremost the external environment, the site and the building or home. 2. Within the four walls; as you had mentioned; placement of beds are often restricted by the size of the bedroom, the location of the bedroom door, the windows and any attached bathrooms. 2.1 Therefore, given such a situation; preferably - the bed-head should be placed against a solid wall. 2.2 Under the Eight House, if the one's head cannot face a good direction or especially if the bedroom is unfavourable to a spouse; let the spouse with the better `intangible' force sleep closer to the side closest to this `intangible' force. Whle the partner sleeps further away i.e. on the opposite side. 3. Besides the Shapes and Forms, one can still apply the Flying Star Feng Shui - to check for imbalances (if any) in the bedroom. Often, if one's house was built or had a major renovation done under this current period: Period 7 (1984 to 2003); then; most likely bedrooms location at East and South do (depending) on the chart; have "sickness or misfortune/sickness" stars. In particular, for this year, North compass direction or a bedroom often have bad sickness stars. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Susan, 1. Some geomancers or users simply consider only the Year of birth. While others consider both Year and Month of birth. 2. While others look at Year, Month, Day and Time of birth. Here (geomancy.net); the House of Life and House of Conception are also considered. 3. One of the rationale is besides other considerations; the more variables i.e. stems and branches, the more we can analyse any double or triple combination clashes. These clashes sometimes are unfavourable: while other clashes are favourable. 4. House of Life or how `hard' is one's life or if one was born with a silver spoon is another consideration that can sway one's element e.g. weak water to strong water etc... 5. Thus under Ba Zi, one must understand that even if one's birth element or (assuming) that it is water: but is it `weak' or `strong'. It is not correct to consider the Year of birth being one's element. But rather, the day of birth element. 6. Is the water: Strong or weak? For a strong water person: favourable: Wood (green or brown), Fire (red, pink or purple) and Earth (yellow, cream or beige). unfavourable: Metal (white or gold) Under the Five Elements concept:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm `wealth' element for a strong water person is the `fire' element. (Please check out the above link and look closely at the destructive cycle. Here, water destroys fire to create wealth.) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Victor, 1. For the layout plan, often, the emphasis is to try to find the `center-of-gravity' of a home. 2. There is really no hard and fast rule as to whether a balcony can or should be excluded. Often, a more important issue is the garage: as this often occupies a larger area and if we take the entire garage into consideration, it may distort the center-of-gravity of a home. 3. For a balcony, it has to be looked into in relation to the entire layout plan. 4. For example, some balcony protrudes on a landed property. If so, often, we should not take this into account. 5. If the balcony is within the fringe of the entire layout plan (or top-view) and it does not seem to protude-out of the house, then we may consider it as within the home. 6. As mentioned, it depends. And, it is very difficult to give a one-off answer. Feel free to post a layout plan so that I can make comments on where the center-point is. 7. As for the second part of your question, I have already sent you a personal e-mail with the information. 8. Feel free to call me at my personal network number: 6100-9600 or E-mail: support@geomancy.net, if you require any clarifications. Warmest Regards, Cecil
