Dear Christa, 1. I am really not sure, what you mean by the Bagua map. 2. I hope you are not referring to the Ba Gua template used by Black Hat Tantric Sect or commonly known as `BTB' as this is a modern invention. 3. However, in traditional Feng Shui, accessment is done with a combination of:- Shapes and Forms Compass School (Eight House and Flying Star) 4. Under the Flying Star Compass School, a chart can be drawn either as:- 9 grids or pie chart. 5. For those drawing a 9-grid chart, should normally use it more for an interior of the home. 6. While those using a pie chart, can use it not only to look at the interior but also extend out the pie in the same direction to look at the exterior. 7. For example, if the frontage of a house has this Flying Star formation:- Period 7 house #7 mountain #7 water Base 1 or Period 6 house #6 mountain #6 water with Base 1 For information #7 is weak metal while #6 is strong metal 8. If one refers to the Productive Cyle under the Five Elements concept, one will notice that METAL supports WATER. "How nice therefore, if we can add water at this location especially outside the house if METAL has been detected. 9. In Traditional Feng Shui, either Shapes and Forms is used and/or Flying Star is used to analyse a sector. This sector can be inside or outside of the house. 10. And if a sector e.g. has a mountain star found inside the house, it can be extended or looked at using Flying Star at the exterior of the house and a `mountain' can be placed at that location. 11. Whether it is Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny) or Flying Star, the common lowest denominator is based on the Five Elements Concept. 12. Contrast this with what you had mentioned below:- This is really not proper Feng Shui. But as mentioned earlier, it is all a MARKETING PLOY to get people to buy products (under the pretense of Feng Shui mystic). Frankly, all one gets is a big hole in the pocket. It is better in such a situation to believe in one's intuition than such a Marketing Ploy. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jonathan, In Feng Shui, one can either access one's unit or the entire facing of the unit's block (or frontage). Usually, for a unit such as yours, it is best to look at your main door only and not the building's main entrance. Please see below:- But, if your balcony forms part or is " within " the house, then it should be taken into the 9 grid. You can do a search for the word " condo " and there are many case studies especially under the conference: Photo Tours of Interest (with pictures). You should be able to find several resources on condos. Do use the SEARCH feature in this forum to narrow down your search field. If you have any layout plan that you want to upload; feel free to do so. The resources on condos, is also based on questions posted to this forum. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Doctor Z, It is best to give a sketch else, with a top down perspective. I really do not like to second guess or run thru line by line description. Which I feel can lead to miscommunication. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Evelyn, Thanks for your sketch. From the look of it, it seems that your main door opens directly to the balcony. Can I confirm whether is there a straight path of `air' flowing from the main door directly out to the balcony? Or do you have a screen or partition. If this is the case, it is more important to get a screen rather than to get a dragon. Even if one wants to use a dragon figurine, it should be on a wall, facing out of the house e.g. thru an opening such as a window. It must not be allowed to faced a blank wall. Yes, a dragon figurine can help improve on yang qi in the house but, caution about where to place it. It should preferably not also be placed inside a showcase or the show case be below knee height (low level). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Frankly, there is not much that can be done via Kua (Eight House). For example, if a house is unsuitable, it is unsuitable for the breadwinner. The only cure(s) are usually physical. For example, either changing of rooms that suit us to even relocating the main entrance to face a favourable angle of the owner. In many of the previous postings, I mentioned that Feng Shui is all about improving one's luck. Thus, you may like to further explore your home: Learn whether your home has good or not so good Shapes and Forms. If possible, try to apply Shapes and Forms. You may also like to look at Flying Star Feng Shui. As mentioned above, taking such steps is like trying to improve all luck in all quarters. Contrast this to paying homage to a corner which may not yield improvements unless one looks at all areas. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Miriam, Traditionally, the `proven' method is the use of 6 ancient Chinese coins with square holes at the centre. Sometimes, (modern) we try or tested using local one dollar coins e.g. with a ba gua (Pa Kua) outline on it and that is has a percentage of nickel / bronze making it golden in colour much like the ancient Chinese coin colour. Try to find coins that are not `silver' in colour but golden in colour. Frankly, I am not too sure if the coins you mention works but, if you really cannot find the ancient Chinese coins, then you may try your own currency. Locally, I seen shops selling these `ancient' Chinese coins for less than US$1 per piece. Some shops were selling it for S 0.50 cents or close to US 0.35 cents a piece. For those who may not have seen a Singapore $1 coin, please refer to this link http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/mypictures.cgi?img=0&search=6+coin&cat=all&bool=and&x=7&y=10 Warmest Regards Cecil

Dear Anon, Usually, if there is a gap between the two buildings, there would be as you had mentioned there can be Sha Qi. However, as your description is not too clear, I can't really provide advise:- 1. When u mentioned your relative's house, is it a landed property? Or an apartment with window or gap in the master bedroom or main door entrance or otherwise? 2. When you mentioned a gap of 50cm of two near by buidings, currently cannot visualise what are their position in relation to your relative's home. Perhaps, you can provide a sketch to this. 3. However, if one stands at the gap and find gushes of air `forced' thru this into your relatives' home, then this can be sha qi. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Steffi, 1. Thanks for bring this interesting question. 2. In fact, I had previously posted some information on this issue. 3. In 1986, when I first developed my Chinese Horoscope site:- http://www.lovesigns.net 4. I was trying to find an appropriate information for the first page of this site. 4.1 I found this quote:- " If we want to be loved we must disclose ourselves to the other person. If we want to love someone they must permit us to know them. " Dr. Sidney M. Jourard 4.2 When young many of us have either being told or discovered our personal English zodiac signs. E.g. Gemini, Libra, Cancer etc... And there were (are) untold number of such books describing our characters and compatibiliy. 4.3 This is similar with Chinese Astrology books (by the dozen) that show us e.g. born as a `Rat', `Horse' etc... 4.4 Some of us may pick up a book or read on the website, that e.g. a Rat is a Horse's "enemy" etc... The DANGER here is auto suggestion. Or should there be a quarrel, we sometimes ponder? Are we in a right relationship? 4.5. Therefore the power of auto suggestion may be detrimental if - we were told that we are " totally " incompatible. 4.6. However, if what our astrology signs says is true or we may perhaps unconsciously act out the part. We should perhaps, try to understand more of our partner's characteristics and as the above quote says, we can try to understand the `good' or the characteristics of the person we love and by doing so, we can go for the good points instead of pointing out faults. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Please see below:- Feng Shui is all about maximizing one's luck. If one use it correctly or use a combination of the various tools / principles / concepts correctly, it would help to boost luck in majority of areas. Thus, reducing the percentage of `inauspiciousness' at the main door. Although a house has to fit the owners /breadwinner/tenant, if one has already stayed in it or made a commitment in it already, there is not much one can do here but as mentioned in the earlier paragrah to try and maximize luck in other areas. In authentic Feng Shui, there are two ways about placing a water feature outside of the house:- 1.1 Under the conference: Photo Tours of Interest (with Pictures), you can find many examples and some very recent on the placement of a water position in a landed property " to trap" wealth before it flows to neighbours. 1.2 In general, if one stand outside one's house (looking at it) and if one's house slopes e.g. a slope (gentle or gradient) to say the left side, then, besides other consideration, one can add a water feature to `trap' wealth before it flows out of the house. 1.3 For a water position, if it is outside the house, it is still ok for a person with weak fire element (where water may inadvertenly extinguish) the fire or for a strong water person. 1.4 In Compass School of Feng Shui, the Flying Star Feng Shui is used to locate sectors with `water stars'. A good example is this current period: Period 7. For example, if a house has #7 (mountain star) #7 (water star) with a base #1 then, it would be advantages for this sector to have a water feature. This is because #7 x 2 are of the `small metal' element. And if one looks closely at the Productive cycle of Five Elements concept: Metal helps Water 1.5 The other approach is if one is not using Feng Shui is by intuition. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Susan, Frankly, looking at one `idea' in Feng Shui or using it to audit a house may not provide the full picture. In your case, try to apply: 1. Shapes and Forms 2. Compass Schools: e.g. Eight House - not only the main door but bedrooms for each family members. There are more e.g. looking at one's Ba Zi to harmonise with the home e.g. for an individual such as a weak water person such as white walls. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Is it possible for you to sketch your layout plan using a paint program and attach as either e.g. .gif or .jpg as it is quite difficult to understand the text sketch although you had taken much time in drawing it. This was the reason, I opened your message several times, wanted to review your message but could not comprehen with the lack of a proper layout sketch. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Hoa Luong, Please see below:- From your initial description, it seems not as auspicious. If this is an existing house; try to find out (probe) further, the reason for the existing owners wanting to sell it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Here is a sample illustration of what is good or bad in the placement of a company logo when the main entrance is next to the safety railings. And if the logo can be seen from one level down....

Dear Carlos, 1. Usually, if one does not use Feng Shui, go with one's intution. 2. Under Feng Shui, there are considerations like e.g. the compass direction of the location to consider. 3 Here, this is usually referenced with the flying star influence of a specific sector. For example, if the ktichen so happens to have bad wood #4 with say additional #1 watercoupled with the location of the kitchen at the north. Too much green (wood) would not be beneficial as water helps fuel more of bad wood. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Soon Hoe, Yes, in my opinion, it is best not to place a painting with many birds facing the dining table. This is symbollic of too many mouths to feed. Even if they are cranes. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Susan, For a stove, it is equally inauspicious if a water pipe runs directly (below) the stove especially if it is as close as 6 inches. In such a situation, it is best to divert the water pipe away from the stove so that it does not directly cross path with the stove. Where possible, the water pipe you mentioned should be `hidden' from view of the stove especially if this sector is the North of the house. If the location of the kitchen is at the South of the house i.e. standing at the centre and the kitchen is at the south, there is no issue with it facing the washing machine. Frankly, with regards to the washing machine, this is quite new to Feng Shui, and in my opinion, there are so far no conclusive results to say whether it is or is not inauspicious to have it face the stove. Warmest Regards, Ceil

Dear Jen, It is best to go for clay coloured roof tiles or even red/maroon. There was once, a client who used to have clay coloured roof tiles. Because of the numerous leaves that had fallen on the roof, and algae growth on it, the roof `turned' greenish. Fortunately, this house `looks like a crab' or has a profile of a crab. The owners became very successfully and prospherous. However, the owners subsequently got the roof cleaned and things was not the same again. The green algae grown is akin or symbollic of `wealth accumulation'. Overall, locally and overseas, it is common to find green roof tiles especially for temples. For a house tht has e.g. blue or grey roofs; blue or grey actually represents the water element; and if the owner truly does not want to change the colour of the tiles, then, it is best to paint the external walls of entire house or maintain the external walls to white colour. At least, this would achieve a two `productive cycle' flow of water and metal (white). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Hoa Luong, 1. Besides Shapes and Form Feng Shui, the other form of Feng Shui is the Compass School Feng Shui. 2. In this aspect, the Compass School Feng Shui consists of both Eight House and Flying Star Feng Shui. 3. Usually, when applying Feng Shui, as mentioned earlier, both Shapes and Forms and the two compass schools i.e. Eight House and Flying Star Feng Shui is used. And usually and for practical reasons, how suitable the hosue is to a person (in general) should be based on e.g. the Eight House. 4. After having covered all the above points of consideration under Feng Shui i.e. Shapes and Forms and Compass School; we often then use Ba Zi for the interior of the home. 5. Therefore, a practical approach is: 5.1 Do a Feng Shui audit based on the above two known compass schools. Next, apply personal Ba Zi e.g. apply the Ba Zi binding element of both partners for e.g. their bedroom / living / dining room area. For for each family member occupying a bedroom, it should where possible harmonize with their ba zi. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Thank you for the description of the condo. 2. Your situation seems rather unique. 3. Frankly, there is no current reference to your situation i.e. whether it is good or bad Feng Shui to have an interior that is distinctively sloping. 4. The only parallel to your situation is that some Feng Shui practitioners have advised their clients to get their contractor doing the flooring to gently slope the floor in the living room i.e. from from the main door down towards the middle of the room. This is not obvious to the household. 5. The purpose is literally, with the hope to `catch' wealth. 6. In my opinion, this is just an idea and from past observations e.g. of houses been advised to do so, there is really no distinct advantage nor disadvantage for this. 7. Therefore, in your case, if the slope is minimal, to me, it seems OK. 8. Overall, (if you can) try to check out how well the past owners (tenants) were doing when they stayed in the house. However, if there are situations where there may be a problem, then, one may have to reference it in relation to the birth chart of the house e.g. house built or major renovation done during that period. Personally, if you and your family feel comfortable with the current situation, this is fine. Warmest Regards, Cecil

A company dealing with metal is considered as under the Metal element. Metal colour is considered as gold or white. As metal element goes well with water element, this company makes full use of the two elements: Metal : circle, white Water : blue and black. Did you manage to find all four of the items mentioned above? In this picture? In the picture, did you manage to see:- a. blue colour? (clue: the company logo) b. circle? (clue: the company logo is circular) c. black? (clue: the wordings of the company is in black) d. white? (clue: the background colour of the signage is in white). Under the five elements concept, water and metal are harmonous elements under the productive cycle.

Please see attached pictures. Fortunately, the new Parkview Square (European style) building is not directly at the front of The Gateway. Else, it would become the demise of The Gateway. The electronic street directoy of The Gateway site. Note: The new Parkview Square building is not yet updated under this URL:- http://streetdirectory.com/new_sd.cgi?product=&company=&detail=&start=&xt=&yt=&x=30903.9000&y=31242.9800&level=6&xyfile=&circle=&star=1&heading=THE%20GATEWAY,%20152%20BEACH%20ROAD%20(189721)&areapostal=189721&zonedetail=

These photos of Gateway building was taken from an office located in one of Suntec City Tower building office. Sorry for the poor pictures as these pictures were taken thru the window of Suntec City tower office. The earlier pictures in the first forum message was taken from the `front-paranomic picturs' of the building. While this set of pictures are considered as the `back' part of the building. In my opinion, some cases, there were some people who belief that some of the units were `haunted'. From my personal experience, some businesses did not do well there. In the past, there was also an Apple authorised retailer called Tricom Pacific which had occupied the ground floor of the East wing... it folded shortly afterwards... P.S. These three pictures were taken by me 5 years ago. I never published them until today. Again apologise for the poor quality as the digital camera I had used was an `old' Sony one - good enough at that time, but not now.
