Dear Sally, I have done away with manual computation already. Why not you go to www.geomancy-online.com and generate a free report on your true element. Under the free report, the assumption is that the element is weak. This is much faster and accurate method. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. In general, without looking at the individual's Ba Zi information; 1st day of every Lunar month and 15th day of every Lunar month are considered good days. 2. Please check out www.geomancy-online.com as there is an auspicious date by month report with reference to a person. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kenny, The resource on colours in relation to FS is at this link: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/colours.htm Please see below:- In general, the colour brown should be considered as wood element. Both brown and green are considered = wood element. I can quite understand that some would argue that " brown " can be seen as the colour of earth. But, overall, it should still belong to (in my opinion brown = wood). Yes, Yellow colour can be quite subjective as it can either be looked at as gold or earth. I tend to agree with what you had mentioned. However, this is can be a very subjective topic. Where possible, if one is not sure, it is best to use WHITE = metal element. For example, if one tries to enhance a room or a home with metal element, it would be best to paint the walls WHITE (to represent the metal element) rather than use bright yellow. When we look at gold i.e. 99.999 percent gold it is difficult to mould and wear and usually other metals are added to harden it. Here, the colour of the gold i.e. 18K may not be the same colour as pure gold. It is very difficult to paint a wall in gold. Thus shades of yellow or bright yellow... is very subjective. Purple, pink and red are usually associated with the Fire element. As mentioned above, purple, red and pink are related to the fire element.

Dear Anon, Apologies, as I do not give the idea of spending too much time replying to this question. But I forgot to mentioned an important point. If this is modern practise especially by Western practitioners who may not be too familiar with the Double Happiness symbol, it would be best, at least, if one display the symbol of a heart to (instead display DOUBLE Hearts) i.e. One heart can be placed overlap (half-way) over the other heart. Like the equivalent of the Double Happiness symbol, at least `LOVE' should come in a pair. I wonder, if some unfortunate souls, could have just placed a single heart and symbolically .. imply.. a lonely heart. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, I just remembered another parallel example. Can we say that the instruction manuals for all cars / vehicle are the same? 1. Firstly there are automatic and manual (clutch driven cars). Can we then, read the instruction manual of an automatic car and then apply it to a manual (clutch driven car). Obviously not. 2. For those who have driven Japanese cars vs European / Continental (US) cars, there are differences in the wind screen wipers and indicators. 3. In my country where we drive (right handed), in a Japanese car, the wind screen wipers are controlled by our left hand. While the directional indicators are controlled by the right hand. This differs with an European car such as Volvo, Renault etc... The wind screen wipers are instead controlled by the right hand while the directional indicators are on the left. 4. So, if one were to read the instruction manual of a Volvo and then assume that the wind screen wipers are the same for a Toyota, Mazda and other Japanese cars. We must most not mix `instructional' or educational manuals from two different sources. 5. Even the REVERSE gear shift can different in some cars. For example, in a Renault manual gear car, one has to pull up the ring on the manual gear before engaging REVERSE. In a Japanese car, one simply press the clutch and set the gear into reverse. I feel that drawing from such parallel, it is indeed dangerous to apply something from one source with another source. We cannot assume that both instructions, if read, and mixed together would / may work. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, It is interesting to note that in China and for Chinese living outside of China in the era prior to 1940's; love is never the first choice. Most marriages I am aware of, especially during the period before 1940's are arranged marriages. Thus, LOVE is not the main issue. During that period and earlier... majority of marriages are arranged. There is no opportunity for LOVE at first sight for many youngsters of the time. Love or DOUBLE Happiness? It is interesting to note that many people who " fall in love " have ended up in divorce (or a high divorce rate even for the Chinese today). But DOUBLE Happiness? I do not want to be cruel but, even if there is no REAL LOVE; perhaps as the Double Happiness symbol suggest, there is still Happiness. As both couples try to stick with each other through sickness or health. In my opinion, love can be developed... (even thru arranged marriages... where couples go on to their silver jubilee and onwards...) A Chinese saying goes.. from black hair to grey hair.. for the couple. Thus, what I feel is that the Double Happiness symbol has more meaning than the symbol of a heart. Some even say that a heart with the pointed tail can bring sha qi. Like a triangle ventilation hole above e.g the couples bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Robert, Please elaborate on your question, thanks. Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. My advise is that if one is using the tool of a particular site or book, try to follow it through. 2. For example, as you are using the online tools provided in this site, please follow the method used here (totally). 3. Often, we read; say another book and I would be cautious to mix what I read from one book/site with another. 4. I believe, Lilian Too, could be asking you to apply i.e. the Chinese Loupan where if one uses e.g. the Chinese Loupan, one can look at the sitting and facing direction. When using a Loupan, we usually, use it to read the sitting and facing direction .. based on what she had mentioned. 5. Thus, I hope you can understand that it is never wise to mix one set of instruction from some one else and with another person. 6. Another example: In the Eight House Theory, some FS practitioners may use the `tradtional' method i.e. using the Backdoor as the House Gua number instead of what is used in this site. Therefore, it does not make sense to read one book, take some `instructions' from it and then mix and match it to another site's method. 7. In this site, please use center of house method with an oridinary compass and follow the information/instructions fully to derive the direction of the main door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jo, In my opinion, it is best not to apply `sector/corner' "Feng Shui". This type of "Feng Shui" is a modern invention and no basis in the (wide scope) of Traditional Feng Shui. No Traditional Feng Shui practitioner would practise such things (with the exception of Feng Shui authors.) It is so easy to write books based on this. Furthermore, it is too general i.e. to be applicable to everyone in the world. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Pat, Frankly, if one is using proper Feng Shui Audit, it involves many Feng Shui concepts and principles and includes other disciplines such as Pillars of Destiny of each member of the family. There is no way, to just give a brief description and somehow an answer can be given. Majority of the time, a Feng Shui practitioner has to be present to review the external environment, the site and then look at the sitting of the house. Usually, based only on the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui, a site should be best to have the backing (support) of a mountain while the frontage of the house (the frontage need not necessarily be the front door) should face clear space and/or a water position. Please refer to the forum conference: Samples that will not receive a proper reply. I do not need to elaborate further on this. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ryan, Usually, company logos have been designed based on either i.e. based on a owner's Ba Zi i.e. weak water... etc... Colour is also widely used in Feng Shui. Geomancy-u.com 's logo was designed based on our scope/field of discipline i.e. studies and based on Robert's and mine element and strength. Although website designs are new, in this site, we have used colours for each of our sites (in our personal opinion, reflect best on Feng Shui principles). For example, our Resources site/pages is in green. Where green is like a tree sprouting roots and branches. The forum www.geomancy-forum.com uses the colour blue to represent (again to the best of our opinion) exchange of knowledge... There are many more colour differentation ... do check out the various sites and colour schemes used. In no way that, I would say that what we used can be a `standard'. This is based on our own interpretation. In the past, our older site image even have a trigram but in opinion, in order not to activate the Ba Gua trigram, we mirror imaged it so that when the pages was loaded up, it would not become a `proper' Ba Gua Trigram. Warmest Regards, Cecil

In addition to the link which I mentioned below, you can also check out the photos under: http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/imagesearch.cgi?img=0&search=wedding&cat=all&x=32&y=10 In the above link, you can click to view Page 2 and 3 ... pictures of the double happiness symbol and some Chinese wedding photos with the double happiness symbol. Thus, in Traditional China and today, the Double Happiness Symbol is used rather than the Heart Shape... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Health, In my opinion, your husband can proudly display his military service combat medals in: 1. If their is a study room or a visitors room, it can be placed in a display. 2. Alternatively, they can be placed in a specially constructed `picture' frame and mounted on a wall - conversation piece. 3. Usually, the thing to avoid is the placement of e.g. an officer's sword especially having it face the main entrance. Similarly, in my opinion, it is best not to let the medal display face directly towards the main entrance. Otherwise, it can be placed even in the living room area e.g. in a display cabinet. More importantly, it should be placed especially, from your husband's idea of a place that can make him `proud'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Yes, you brought up an interesting question. As you have mentioned that many " FS practitioners " had recommended placing the Heart shaped symbol in the bedroom. In my opinion, I believe that this is a "modern idea" especially if it is associated with Feng Shui. Traditional Feng Shui practitioners (I mean those practitioners i.e. Chinese and coming from Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and the Far East do not usually need to provide such an advise. This is because rather of the strong belief in the use of `standard' Mandarin symbols as shown in the link below:- http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/imagesearch.cgi?img=0&search=happiness&cat=all&x=21&y=16 The various simples and even `cutting' .... usually these are paper cuttings. On red paper. Red represents auspiciousness and if one looks at the symbol of the DOUBLE HAPPINESS one can see a mirror image or mirror of both images. For many years, Chinese do not need the advise of a FS practitioner on the placement of double happiness symbols as it is strongly rooted in their beliefs. Especially for the marriage couple, the double happiness symbols would appear on flower arrangements during their Chinese marriage ceremony and in their bedroom. The Heart symbol has more to do with Western FS practitioners... in trying to perhaps create this `belief'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, In my opinion, it is best not to use DIRECTION " Feng Shui ". 1. Although each Gua (Kua) or Trigram has a specific significance or meaning, many authors are churning out tons of books on it. 2. It is very easy to understand why authors can make money out of it (plus in my opinion hurt many people). It is so easy, for each of us to `imagine' and come with a such a book: 3. For example, since there are 8 `directions' or trigram; with some imagination or addition of our intrepretation of a direction come with with a book such as: Chapter 1 : Introduction Chapter 2 : Career Sector (North) What it means? What to buy? Go buy it... Chapter 3 : Mentor Sector (North West) 4. If we continue the flow, and if one has something to write about `Career' then `Mentor' one can easily come up with a book to sell on CORNER Feng Shui. 5. In my opinion, it is because it is so easy to write books focusing on CORNER Feng Shui that many (many) book authors try to captialise on this. 6. In earlier forum messages, I mentioned that these authors are advocating `fixed theories'. How can it be that for 100,000 or 2 million people that say their career sector is at the NE. Similiarly, how is it possible for all those who want to find romance have to pay homage to the South West corner? Take the case of 2 guys trying to date the same office colleague. Imagine, the first guy placing 12 roses on the SW of his office table. The second person, trying to outdo this guy places 100 roses at the SW corner of his table. By logic since the second guy had done more than the first guy in enhancing his romance corner.. does it mean that he has a better chance of dating the office colleague? The end result may be that both (who were too confident on only relying on CORNER Feng Shui) just sit there and HOPE. In the end, someone else (other than this two guys) who had the courage to date her, finally married her in the future. 7. Thus, ROMANCE corner cannot be considered as simply at SW. 8. One cannot also say for sure that when one enters the front door, the WEALTH corner is at the far left corner. What happens if the main door is at the side of the house. Nowadays, especially for those living in high rise condominiums, the main door is usually at the `back' of the house. This is where, at the opposite end, the balcony is over looking the water position such as the swimming pool... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Angelique, There are many (many) considerations if one uses Feng Shui to analyse a house: This involves, environmental scanning of the landscape, the site, the building and interior of the home. If the main door is facing the backdoor, this could still be `cureable' e.g. having a divider to shield the backdoor from the main entrance. Warmest Regards, Cecil It is good to look at the conference " Samples that will not receive a proper reply " as this part would end out in that conference.

Dear Anon, It is best to look at Feng Shui in a holistic approach i.e. looking at "WEALTH" from various angles such as: 1. How good is the Shapes and Form of the home i.e. external environment, the site, the building and the home. 2. Using Compass School methods such as Flying Star and Eight House. 3. By simply focusing on a corner of the house and to assume that this corner "makes "or "breaks" our achievement of WEALTH is in my opinion, too naive a concept. In my opinion, it is more important to get more areas correct, or `score' more points or marks in all areas to make it a better home will provide more results. Furthermore, to say that a `wealth area' is at a specific room may be too general if it is said that every house has a `wealth area' at a specific area. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Elizabeth, In my opinion, usually, if it is a painting of a single peony, this represents maidenhood and particuarly in the Tang Dynasty era, it is said to represent the femal genitalia. However, in ancient China, the significance is that it is considered the Queen of all flowers and signifies distinction and wealth. It is also a flower associated with the season of Spring. The most popular coloured peony (peonies) are RED. Later on, in the story of the Eight Immortals, there is a Bai Mu Dan or White Peony ... that challenged Lu Dong Bin (one of the eight immortals) and she won the contest. In my opinion, a picture with many peonies represents a vibrant `Spring' season. Professional Chinese artists also combine:- 1. picture(s) of peonies with flowers such as lotus, chrysanthemum and plum tree to represent the four seasons. 2. Peony with peaches represent good reputation, longeivty and wealth 3. peony flower with hibiscus to represent a flow of wealth and good reputation. Many Tang dynasty poets also sang praises of the poeny flower... Thus in my opinion, the painting of peonies is not all that bad or reflect solely on young or unmarried. It has other meanings as well. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kenny, Overall, perhaps, the observations made may be `coincidental' unless further analysis is done e.g. using the Flying Star to analyse each sector i.e. NE or South in detail. It also depends on the built-up of the home i.e. the building in relation to wind movement. This is also affected by surrounding buildings (wind blowing from different directions and the high and low pressure points of the location. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Florida, In my opinion, you can consider this (ceramic money tree with children on it) as a decorative piece. For this decorative piece, since it does not have any major significance associated with a specific deity/god, feel free to place it anywhere you personally feel comfortable with. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Frankly, for such a situation, there is no effective cure for it. The only possibility (but in your case cannot be done) is to have a flat ceiling. In instances such as what you mentioned and others such as toilet above the dining room etc... cannot be cured unless they are physically moved. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Kenny, Please see below:- This is good. More importantly, it is best to look at the entire building/block in relation to the Shapes and Form of the location, here. Is the piece of land where the whole block can accumulate wealth or where it flows off. Other consideration is that are there any poison arrows aimed at the apartment through windows.. This has to be looked into carefully. This is ok:) More importantly, best to look out for missing corners in the home. So long as the bed or other furniture are arranaged in good Shapes and Form, this should be acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Juliana, These are inherent problems that one should avoid if possible. Frankly, there are no cures unless, the bathroom is not above e.g. the study room or dining room. Where possible, spent less time at these locations. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Jolene, Frankly, it is difficult or impractical to hide this corner. An alternative is to use a poster bed with screens or curtains ... but again, this may not be a practical solution. A metal wind chime can be used in such a situation to neutralise the corner. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, In very early years before China had exchanges with the West, you will be surprised to learn that many missionaries had infact introduced and translated many of China's culture, history, classics especially works by Confucius. For example, Matteo Ricci, who was an Italian missionary had infact translated several books into Latin in 1590s. Since his time, many famous scholars and writers had taken much effort in translating Chinese works into English. Such famous scholars include: Lin Yutang, James Legge who is an English writer. Another famous transalter is Richard Wilhem, a German Scholar. These scholars had infact translated several volumes of the famous Chinese Four Books and Five Classics. Several Chinese Universites have also scholars who are constantly translating works into English. Some of them found James Legge's transalation (where some of words are `dead english' words) and try to elaborate further. Many works have indeed being translated into English such as I-Ching or Book of Changes where Confucious said that if he had lived a further 50 more years, he would love to spent time reading/understanding it. Other works such as The Ancient Art of War... had also been translated. Books such as the classic Book of History had also been translated... Warmest Regards, Cecil
