Dear Alice, Other than thru the use of and interpretation through Pillars of Destiny, or more generally, Chinese astrology, it is best to look elsewhere for an `answer/solution' to this. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kum Loong, San He Water Theory i.e. San He or known as Mountain Water theory is very much based on Shapes and Form i.e. Water classics concepts. Majority of the concepts are summarised under:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/wcourse.htm I recalled, sometime back Lilian Too wrote a book about Water Dragon Classic or something like that. Perhaps you can check out amazon.com ... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Chloe, Yes, it is best to avoid placing a bagua mirror facing inside the house. In my opinion, you could place two potted plants on both sides of the main door entrance. But if the plants does block the walkway, then do not place the plants. I feel that a crystal ball would not help the situation. Overall, for now I am too sure how the two doors `interact'. But, since they do not create any poison arrows or sha qi, perhaps, you need not place any objects at these sectors. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Breadwinner refers to:- 1. When assessing a home, the breadwinner can be said to be the person who brings in the most money to the household. 2. If there are two `breadwinners' and each contributes to half of the money for the household, then usually, for computation purposes, it would have to be the male or the husband who should be considered the `breadwinner'. 3. The `breadwinner' need not be the owner of the home. It can be someone renting the home and in this case, we look for a `breadwinner' i.e. the person who pays the rental and earns the most in the home (rental). In this case, for assessment of the home (both homes), you can use your sister's particulars since she is ultimately the breadwinner of (both houses). If your house has been built under Period 7 or this current period, a house with double 7's is considered good or auspicious for such a house. If a house was built under Period 6; then, a double 6 is considered good or auspicious. Colours are secondary in Feng Shui. Overall, the house especially the living room area should be more yang or brighter. Use colours that are not dark. In my opinion, earth colours can still be used in the home. Ideally, netural colours are still the best. One can inadvertently activate the earth element, if there is an imbalance caused by #2 and #5 in these sectors. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cecilia, Usually, I do not `verify' questions especially when a birthdate has been provided. At times, the question would be moved to the conference " Samples that will not receive a proper reply ". I hope you understand that, I not here to do all the homework i.e. someone furnish me a DOB and I have to first, do the calculations or pre-anlysis. Instead, quality time should be spent on analysis or provide advise based on all available information provided to me since there is only 24 hours a day. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. For those who are perhaps new or not too sure what questions would not be answered please browse thru the forum " Samples that will not receive a proper reply ".

Dear Kaushal, #2 = earth #3 = wood In my opinion, it would not be a good idea to use water i.e. a bowl of water as water will enhance #3 or wood. My advise is to use a METAL cure. Here METAL does wonder to neutralising #2 and #3. There are many METAL cures already mentioned in this website. My `favourite' is the use of 6 metal coins. As it has few or little hiccup's associated with some other cures like wind chimes. But cures such as 6 rod hollow wind chimes (may be used) or the use of a pendulum brass/metal clock with it's tick-tock effect are acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Rae, Frankly, Feng Shui is not so simplistic. It is difficult to achieve a `break thru' by paying homage to a corner i.e. career corner. Or feeling disappointed for some that `my toilet' is in the career sector. In my opinion, it is best not to practise FS in such situations. Usually, many have gone to paying homage to a corner and the end result is to buy items or materials or objects to enhance these sectors. The people who benefit from such `beliefs' are those selling the commercial wares who ultimately make the profit. Under the Eight House Theory, it is usually the time spent at a sector i.e. if a sector is e.g. the death sector but if one does not spent time there, then this is not a real issue. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Chole, 1. In recent times, generally plants that are not thorny can be used in the home. 2. Green silk plants are acceptable for use in your home. 3. Since many of us live in various parts of the world, it would now not be possible to be very specific about the type of plants one should use. In general, use plants that can i.e. if they are indoor plants, these plants should easily survive in your home - in your country. Try to get plants that are of very little maintenance if possible. Avoid plants that you regularly need to bring into the sunlight. 4. To be more specific, in the `past' plants can be classified into one of the Five elements. As many of us know, use the type of plant that `conform' to the element of harmony at that sector or if plants are used as a cure, or as a controlling element, use the plant with the specific element. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Max, Yes, with proper soil analysis and soil management especially drainage and structurally sound retaining walls, houses built as you had mentioned can be auspicious. Many a times, some of the various reasons below compounded by weather may cause landslides: 1. In many instances, too many houses were built on these hills providing downward pressure on the hill. This is less of an issue if there are no heavy downpours. But if there are heavy downpours, coupled by poor retaining walls or vegetation.. a landslide may be eminent. 2. Ideally, the best hills are those of limestones (hard rocks). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Feng Shui (earth luck) and other Chinese divinity methods such as Pillars of destiny (Heaven luck) are often looked at in a holistic way. 2. Frankly, there are no quick solutions to understanding your problems. 3. What FS and other Chinese divinity methods are used is to boost one's luck or if it is Pillars of Destiny (to understand one's Heaven map and improve/change some of it). 4. Furthermore, with unemployment either due to structural unemployment or competitiveness (some prefer to employ younger employees)... there are so many other related situations that may have to be looked at. 5. True Feng Shui can only help to improve one's luck. But there are limitations such as e.g. an existing house. In an existing house, or even if one moved house, I feel that the key ingredient in the FS of a house is it's shapes and form. This usually gives either a quantum leap or just one of those average houses. 6. To apply Feng Shui to a `normal or average' house does not guarantee a quantum leap in Feng Shui. 7. Pillars of Destiny, is another avenue used to see our luck period for the current period and it does help if it is correctly applied. 8. However, in my opinion, there is no such thing as finding a corner to pay homage to.. in order to extract `career luck'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Rae, If not sure, don't `activate' anything. It is not like buying some objects or items at $500.00 and hoping that one can get back a return of $1,500 or more. The only sensible way to `invest' money is through proper finance schemes or through low risk returns such as Fixed Deposits or Savings Account. Many fall into the trap of "Credit Card Feng Shui". Where, one gets cash advance in the `hope' of getting a return. The only return here is a bill with accumulated interests that loan sharks would only goggle their eyes on. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Angeline, Under macro Feng Shui; for Singapore, which is located in the south, ideal colour of doors especially entrance doors is white or represent the metal element. For your case, I have seen the doors and felt that it is `minor' and in my opinion, will not have any effect on your family. As opposed to the headboard which is symbolic of sleeping in a tomb. Therefore, I personally feel that there is no issue and there is no need to paint the lovely `natural' wood coloured door(s). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kenny, 1. Under the 20 Year Flying Star analysis, for a house built under Period 7; it is a bonus if there is a 7 7 combination at the main entrance. 2. The base number would also be looked at to find out the degree of auspiciousness of a 7 7 combination house under current Period 7. 3. Under the 20 Year Flying Star analysis, a house will (always) remain under that period if no major renovations were done in the period. For example, For a Period 6 house; that house will continue to enjoy 6 6 combinations under Period 6 provided there is no major renovations carried out anytime afterwards. Thus a Period 6 house with double 77 combinations will still have this birth chart even under Period 7, Period 8 or Period 9 so long as there are no major renovations. For a Period 7 house. This is the same situation. A Period 7 house with double 7 7 will remain so during period 7 and even under Period 8, 9 & restart at 1,2,3,4 etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Tom, Further to what I mentioned earlier, here are some other considerations:- 1. Symbolism is important in Feng Shui. I am not sure about natural crysals or gemstones but the shape preceeds material used. For example, for a piece of wood shaped like a pyramid, although its natural element is wood; but because it has taken the form of a pyramid, it should now be classified as a `fire element'. Alternatively, the piece of wood has been shaped like a pyramid and painted red. Here, red = fire element would also make it as a fire element. 2. Traditional Feng Shui is all about the Five elements concept: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal elements. Although, the methology or methods used may differ greatly by the various Traditional Feng Shui school, the way the five elements is used should be similar. The application depends on how well, the FS school knows how to apply the Five Elements concept. 3. Thus, we come to the point: each material or object can be classified under a specific element in Feng Shui. Although there may be differing views on classification of materials, one cannot discount the fact that i.e. cyrstals (or geniune crystals) come from the earth. Some FS practioners may have slightly differing views and could perhaps classify it as water element. But, in my opinion, it is most likely considered the " Earth element " especially if it is the raw material. 4. What is the difference here? Why mention Earth element? Unfortunately under Flying Star Feng Shui, the two most `fearful' numberology numbers are #5 and #2. 4.1 #5 and #2 are both EARTH elements 4.2 #5 is known as misfortune. 4.3 #2 is known as sickness. 5. Since cyrstal or such rocks or gems could be classified as EARTH elements, many professional FS practitioners are more cautious about giving advice such as using crystals or gemstones as cures. 6. It would be different if these `crystals' or gemstones or artifical stones are moulded into objects that result in them symbolising an object. 7. Thus, it would be fine or acceptable if these EARTH objects are made into dragon figurine or say a tortise paper weight. Here, under symbolism, instead of being representing the EARTH element, they are now symbolically represent an item. It is thus common for FS practitioners to advise the use e.g. crystal dragons or a marble torties paper weight to add to the mountain star (when it is found) at an appropriate location. 8. In Flying Star charts, we can find at each sector (there are 9 sectors in total):- # mountain star + # water star -------------------------- on a base number 9. Since there are nine sectors, the #5 can appear in say the mountain star # at NE and it can also appear in another sector as a #water star. There is also the base number #5 to watch. Similiarly we have to watch out #2. Hopefully, if they can be `concentrated' in one sector e.g. NE such that #5 #5 5 Would be nice. But unfortunately, what happens if #5 is scattered all over the 9 grids? This would mean that instead of applying just one 6 coins (metal cure) to neutralise #5s; we now may have to apply metal cure to many sectors. Furthermore, here, the chance of placing too much earth i.e. crystal could result in more bad earth. 9. My opinion, is that if one collects crystals /gemstones, it is more for the love of collecting them and not to base it on FS. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Tom, A warm welcome to the forum. Please see below:- Frankly, Feng Shui is used to: 1. neutralise any bad effects (from the land) 2. enhance beneficial Qi. Basically, it is used to assess "the earth". Therefore, when it concerns Feng Shui, it does not have a special signifiance to it. Thus Shapes and Form Feng Shui, is about assessment of the land i.e. landscape or city, site / building and unit. Compass School Feng Shui especially Flying Star Feng Shui - uses cures if there is an imbalance at a particular sector. Since most of the bad elements are of wood element i.e. #3 #4 and bad metal elements #5 and #2; usually the most common cures is the use of METAL cures. For Sha Qi i.e. under Shapes and Form Feng Shui, for example if there is a lone lamp post facing a window, a FS practitioner may advise the placement of a fish tank. Here, the components of the Fish Tank are: Gold fish = metal element; water = water element these are used to neutralise the lone lamp post. Based on the Five Elements concept. For crystals, this belong more to the `commercialised "Feng Shui" sites. Sites that claim the special significance of crystals. Usually, the characteristics of such " Feng Shui sites " posts lots of material goods or wares for sale. More importantly, the sale of crystals should not be in my opinion, associated with a `special' significance with Feng Shui or ride on it. But in terms of appreciation of crystals, this I believe is a totally different issue. I would like to honestly (based on my opinion) that based on what I mentioned above, Feng Shui or its established practise is `geared' for the analysis of `the earth' i.e. the landscape, site etc... In the past, it applied at a macro level, such as finding good sites for a city or locations of rest (tombs); and palaces. Most of the FS masters, half-geologist etc... and they really examine the soil and examine water positions to find suitable and stable sites. Thus, its purpose is simply to look at the land and how, man who encroach on it, can live in harmony with it. FS therefore does not have a set of rules for harvesting gems or precious stones. This would be best left to the engineers and geologists and specialised equipments/expertise to handle. I hope, I did not disappoint you on the above. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, On the issue of the Grand Duke, there can be controvesy over the definition of how the Grand Duke can be `offended'. Therefore, when answering your question, I used the word `strickly speaking' i.e. where it concerns some advice, it is a must not to offend the Grand Duke. In my opinion, I feel that it is acceptable: 1. When one does a renovation especially take the case; where this is not a new house and we need to renovate the home. When we engage a contractor to do the entire renovation of the home; I feel that this is acceptable. On the `commonsense' approach.. it is not practical to ask the contractor to say do renovation to the home and leave out some parts of the home. This may be impractical. For example, if we need to change the floor tiles, it would not be practical to change the floor tiles while leaving a certain section with the old tiles or to leave the wall unpainted at a specific sector. 2. When we fit a nail or drill a small hole, I feel that this is in my opinion still acceptable. But if can avoid, try to. 3. If we already live in the home and decides to do some renovation, it is best not to do the renovation especially if we are still living in the house. However, if there is a major leak e.g. sewerage pipes and it happens to be at the Grand Duke sector; one cannot help it but to get someone to fix it. Thus, I personally feel that it is difficult to provide `fixed' answers to this question. It depends! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Damodar, Weak or strong is determined by several factors: 1. On a very general level, the day of birth is referenced to the season the person is born. Based on the interaction of the season ELEMENT STRENGTH, it is looked at in relation to the person's ELEMENT. 2. Depending on the type of Pillars of Destiny chart `done': 2.1 Some simply look at the day of birth, while others look deeper using the interaction of the four pillars. More advanced analysis looks at all four pillars: Year, Month, Day and Time + House of Life and House of Conception. More advanced analysis looks at each pillar = Heaven stem and earthly branches with reference to other stems and earthly branches plus looking at combinations / triple combinations of either clashes or harms. The final result is where one obtains weak or strong element. For the Grand Duke. If the Grand Duke is e.g. in the North. One should be e.g. sitting North facing South. So that one would not confront the grand duke. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Elena, Please see below:- Although a U shaped house is not ideal but overall, it is still acceptable design. Yes, the addition can still be made six months after they move in. Please email to robert-lee@3dmail.com so that he can provide you with a free credit to generate the month auspicious date. Here, you need to obtain the breadwinner's date of birth (time optional) and if the month of reno is clear, use the report to find out a good date to start the renovation. The above looks ok to me. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, I elaborate further at a later date. Do note that under the Five Elements concept, we often introduce a controlling element. For example, in your case of WEAK WOOD element, and if the season of influence is METAL element; to neutralise the METAL element effects on the person, the remedy is to introduce either: a. WATER element. Here water produces or increases WOOD. b. Alternatively if we do not introduce WATER, we can introduce FIRE element. Where FIRE destroys METAL. Under Para a. We apply the productive cycle i.e. Water -> increase weak Wood = STRONG WOOD. To help weak WOOD grow in strength to overcome METAL element. Undera Para b. We apply the destructive cycle i.e. using FIRE to destroy METAL and reducing it. In both situations, we have thus considered as having applied a controlling element. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Anon, I understand your situation/position as it is difficult to convince someone else on this. Strictly speaking, one should not even drill (i.e. touch the `grand duke' at the specific location). Unlike a situation where, " one does " a major renovation i.e. call a contractor to do it for `you'. This information is found under the Flying Star report at www.geomancy-forum.com Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Slawek, 1. Usually, a more acurate analysis is to use the Flying Star analysis. 2. Based on Flying Star numerology, do look out for #2 sickness and #5 misfortune nos. 3. It is my belief that the South sector has an imbalance and it could also be the result of bad wood #3 and the addition of water element i.e. fish tank that could create such an imbalance. 4. To sound `less complicated'; since your family members are now sick; it is best to drain off the water or remove the fish tank as soon as possible. Certainly, there is indeed an imbalance at that sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Stephaine, 1. I can quite understand your confusion on how to apply the various concepts that appears in various books - authors, FS practitioners. 2. On a macro level; it would be best to avoid `modern' day concepts on Feng Shui. Such as Ba Gua teachings or the use of Fixed templates. 3. Where possible, try to find out, where possible, whether certain forms of FS is based on `modern' day teachings or traditional forms of Feng Shui. I understand this may be difficult if one learns from a third party. But if it is through a book or site, try to avoid sites relating to Black Hat Sect FS. The clue is to check on the author's background and /or association especially with Lin Yun. 4. Next, under Traditional FS there are three main areas:- 4.1 Shapes and Form Feng Shui 4.2 Compass School: The Eight House Theory and Flying Star Theory 4.3 Eight Aspirations / Association and " Corner Feng Shui. 5. In my opinion, Para 4.1 and 4.2 should be used and within them have the more potent or most effective set of theories and concepts. Para 4.3 in my opinon, quite similar to fixed template Feng Shui and should best be avoided where possible. Here, it is very easy to write books on this subject and many book authors have capitalised on this. For example, the author may suggest that one enhance one's SW corner for romance. Or enhance the North = career sector. Such concepts are similar to fixed template `Feng Shui' and it would not be possible for everyone to enhance their SW and have a positive result in that if 100,000 does that, it does not mean that 100,000 persons would get results in romance. 6. Always take note that in Traditional FS, there is likely to be personalisation: 6.1. For example, even in Shapes and Form FS, we should not place a neutralising agent at the front door of every home! Only if there is a poison arrow e.g. a sharp corner of a building aimed at our main door, must we try to neutralise this. 6.2 Under the Eight House Theory, we look at our Gua (Kua number) and then see which type of house is suitable to us. 6.3 A 20 year Flying Star chart takes into account the specific direction of a house. Thus, it is my belief, that you should discount the Ba Gua concepts. Apply each of the traditional FS concepts, but understand their purpose and limitations. FS cannot be looked into in isolation. We cannot simply look within our home for improvement if everything else outside our house crumbles or fall apart. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. For a matter of interest, if you visit www.lovesigns.net; you can see a pictural chart of the 12 animal signs. 2. Do look closely the animal sign that is opposite your animal sign. For each animal, the animal sign directly opposite your sign. 3. For example for an OX, the most incompatible animal sign is the RAM. 4. Under www.lovesigns.net; it is based on just the Year of birth. 5. Ba Zi Feng Shui or Pillars of Destiny i.e. Year, Month, Day and time looks far more closely on the interactions; combinations, triple combinations and clashes to provide a detail analysis as opposed to a simplistic model as in the Year of birth " Chinese horoscope " under www.lovesigns.net. 6. If one looks carefully:- 6.1 Each animal sign can be `reduced' to the lowest common denominator i.e. one of the five elements i.e. a Rat = water element. 6.2 The combination of heavenly stems and 12 earthly branches is a more accurate analysis. Under www.lovesigns.net, you can `click' on the image of OX and you can see in general the animal signs that are in real conflict; need much effort to work on relationship or favourable to your element. Sometimes relationship is: 1. It depends on the individual's maturity and the friends or partner's view point. 2. It is hope that reading too much of such horoscope does not result in `auto-suggestion'. For example, if one constantly reads that an OX is most unfavourable to a RAM person, we could perhaps, have a preconceived idea and instead of trying to understand and work things out, it may become worse off. 3. Many of this type of conflicts and change have been studied by Management Gurus and it would (in my opinion) be useful to use such tools instead of relying fully on 'horoscopes' and traits associated with it. 4. If one do use the `horoscope; it would be good to understand the nature of that particular `animal sign' and by understanding that sign better, we could perhaps, learn why e.g. a person such as an OX can be at times `stubborn'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, "Five Yellows" is a common term used under Flying Star numerology or Luo Shou grid. Where #5 is known as the misfortune number. It is related to the five elements to the Earth element. As Earth element is represented by Yellow colour, therefore, some Flying Star FS practitioners call it " FIVE (5) Yellow ". Thus e.g. Wu Kwei or 5 ghosts etc.. are other terms and are no where close to nor `associated' with this number. Warmest Regards, Cecil
