  1. Dear Faten, 1. Feng Shui and other Chinese divinity methods is about trying to increase our `LUCK'. 2. Overall, we have commented usually only about the interior of the home. 3. Factors such as the Shapes and Form of the site, the external environment need to be taken into consideration. Plus other `LUCK' factors that may not have been taken into consideration. 4. Therefore, as you had mentioned only, we are currently `focused' only about part of the `LUCK' or a percentage of the overall `LUCK'. Thus one may still achieve overall luck in other areas. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Anon, It is good to use a white primer first. Although it has nothing to do with FS. As long as the colour has been changed; what cannot be seen can no longer `influence' or be used. Therefore, by painting the wall rosy beige, it will be `influnenced' by this colour. Therefore, in my opinion, it does not matter that you have to remove the black paint first. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Anon, 1. Please confirm, by standing at the front door area facing out of the house. Does the lampost or tree seem to `slice' thru the front door? 2. You mentioned that "the tree with lampost behind it. Do you mean that the lampost is furthest away and is blocked by the tree which in turn; can be seen `slicing' the front door? If so, you can place two potted plants on both sides of the front door. Or, if you do not like the above option, you can hang a Ba Gua mirror above the front door. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. 1. Further to what I mentioned earlier, it is always good to exercise moderation when applying Feng Shui. 2. It should not be a case where we turn our lives `upside' down trying to `fit' ourselves to meet FS standards. But rather, we should exercise moderation, when applying Feng Shui. 3. Many of us, read widely about the `Do's and Don'ts' of FS. For many people, they simply carry on with their daily lifes after applying some of the best FS practises. 4. If we take FS `too seriously' it results in only the equivalent of trying to do "interior decoration" to our home or control our lives. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Penny, In Feng Shui, many of us try to apply what is generally good for everyone i.e. where it works for most of us. In many other cases, it need not necessary be a `bad' practise to some of us. For example:- 1. It is mentioned that it is not advisable to place a mirror facing the bed. Some of us are more sensitive to this issue and feel uncomfortable with a mirror at such a location. For some others, there is no problem or `issue' with placing a mirror facing the bed. 2. In your case, for example, if you have for many years or months, have been placing a plant in your bedrooom without any ill effects, you may continue to place it rather than to use an artificial plant. If you ask an experienced Feng Shui practitioner or Master; they would be trying their best to apply " BEST " practises that WORKs most of the time for MOST people. And try to discard, practises that do not often work. Looking at the bedroom, there are many variables involved i.e. the location of the bedroom i.e. West facing ? North facing? East facing? For example, a west facing bedroom may tend to become hot especially if part of the wall soaks in sun light and in the evening, the wall could still retain the `heat' etc... Each of us have different degrees of `tolerance' with regards to the balance of Yin over Yang. For some of us, we cannot stand a too yang bedroom while for some others, they prefer a slightly more yang bedroom even if yin is the preferred choice for rest. Thus, one good lesson here is to remember that each of our circumstances may differ. For a situation where, e.g. a plant is suppose to create more yang (growing) than yin but if there is no `negative' effects on us, this can be acceptable. We should therefore, try to see whether FS can suit our circumstances and it does not automatically mean that what is `bad' for some may be `bad' for others. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear A B, Under traditional Feng Shui, many FS practitioners would recommend that the bedroom colours be in harmony with the element of the child. In addition, the bed should be placed in a favourable position. The study table should face the child's good direction. (All these come under the Eight House theory). The understanding of Yin and Yang concept is equally important. For the bedroom especially for an adult, the bedroom should normally be more `Yin' than yang. As this should be the place of rest for an adult. Unless the adult is taking up studies and staying e.g. in a dormitory. Where, there should be a balance between yin and yang. For a child's bedroom (who is growing up), it is best to have the bedroom more `yang' e.g. brighter colours (wall) or furniture), room full of toys .... In my opinion, bunk beds are acceptable in a children's room. As to whether it is Shui? Not too sure, what you meant by this. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Viren, In my opinion, it is best to relook at your Marketing and Sales strategy, first. Here, `packaging' of your product and how it can achieve sales through the distribution channels. As Feng Shui or Chinese divinity methods, emcompass a wide field especially for a company. It is harder to apply Feng Shui or Chinese divinity methods as a full scale of methods i.e. depth and breath may have to be used such as analysis of : owner(s); the company's location; the owner(s) Pillars; the owner's home. In fact, a whole barrage of Feng Shui and Chinese divinity methods may have to be used in a holistic way in order to improve one's `luck' or the company's luck. What I feel therefore, is that it is much easier for you and your company to look at your company's strategies and focus on marketing aspects rather than FS, at the moment. In my opinion, please try to avoid `Fast Food Feng Shui'; although they may be tempting but... may not achieve what you wanted to do. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Chloee, 1. Generally, what this means is that the house may not be that suitable to you and your boyfriend. Under the Eight House concept, there is really not much one can do here but to understand Para 1. 2. Other considerations are: 2.1 Hopefully, this house has excellent or good Shapes and Forms. Usually, if a house has a quantum leap in Feng Shui such as mentioned under Para 2.1; although the house may not be that suitable to the owners, it can still bring great wealth, harmony especially if the Shapes and Forms is excellent. 2.2 The other method is to check on the birth chart of the house such as using Flying Star. Some of us, may not want to dwell deeper using this theory. 3. Overall, as Feng Shui is generally about getting `good luck'; we should maximise all our other `luck' as we can. In doing so, it may give us a significant boost even though, the house is considered not as `lucky'. Do also check what influence (intangible force e.g. prosperity sector? etc..) is in the bedroom area. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Steff, In my opinion, it is best not to rely too much on `corner' concept such as " wealth corner ". Even if the toilet is at such a sector, there is not much one can do except to relocate it (which is impractical) for most of us. What is more important consideration is the Shapes and Form Feng Shui:- 1. Avoid having the toilet next to the main entrance. 2. Avoid having the toilet at the centrepoint of the home. For toilets in other locations, it is best that one of the wall shares an external wall. Other than closing the toilet door. Hanging crystal or wind chime is based on the user's preference or belief. In my opinion, there is not much impact or benefits to the Feng Shui, here. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Anon, Thank you for your clarification. In this case, the Flying Star House Number report analysis does not apply. The free Flying Star House Number report analysis is meant for analysing apartment/flats and not landed properties i.e. single / double detached / terrace houses or any other landed properties. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Hiii, The origin of this has more to do with commonsense than Feng Shui as traditional Chinese homes do not have a bedroom above the kitchen. (Especially if the is built on wooden material). Therefore, this is more of a commonsense that has been added to Feng Shui in modern times. As we are aware, fire moves or spread upwards or thru an opening e.g. windows. Which may reach the upper floors. Here, it would make more sense to `invest' in smoke detectors i.e. in the kitchen (which should be loud enough) to warn anyone staying in the home. If need be, the room above, or passage way leading towards the room could also be installed with fire detectors / and a handy fire extinguisher. I hope not to sound any `alarm' but I believe these are REAL precautions we can take rather than, trying to figure out what remedies to use under " Feng Shui ". Here, it is my opinion that " Feng Shui " cannot be looked at as a `cure all' or used to provide such answers. Apologies, as I do not expect that a fire can break out but the above is what I believe many of us should do or not do. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Anon, Can u confirm that your house is an apartment/flat and not landed property? This is because, the Flying Star House Number analysis is used for vertical analysis i.e. apartment buildings only. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Clarence, The information provided is a transcription of raw data and frankly, I do not have the time to do the `homework':- Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Cynthia, You can actually use the free tools located at www.geomancy-online.com. Since u mentioned that the house is directly at South or (I assume is 180 degrees) you can generate the Free Finding a Good House Report which can help you check whether it is a good direction or not. (Note: Only the paid report has analysis for all 24 directions) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Laurelle, I agree that there can be `contradictions' in the application of Feng Shui. Should we place plants in the home? Even if one's element is for example an Earth person. We should also look at the external environment i.e. `threats'. `Threats' is an important component in how we apply Feng Shui. For example, if there is a threat to the main entrance... we try to neutralise it by using an element that destroys it. In the home, we should try to `cure' or neutralise `threats' or imbalances in the various sectors. This can be independent of our personal element. For example, if a cure required `wood' element or plants, we can still introduce it into the home. Even if it is friendly to our element. In a city apartment, since the external environment can be poluted by vehicle exhausts etc... we can plant plants in our home. For personal elements, we can separately enhance it e.g. wearing clothing favourable to self etc... We should always remind ourself that we should not end up becoming `slaves' to the system. But rather let the `system' work for us. For example, what is the use of a complex and elaborate computer system that requires constant updating. We may end up becoming slaves to it. Similarly, in Feng Shui, we should have the `give' and `take'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Anon, Under the Eight House Theory, one concept is that one should spent time at one's favourable sector. The other concept is that priority should be given to firstly spending time at a good sector and after this is satisfied; then one should consider i.e. sleeping facing a good direction. If there is not much choice; you may have to sleep on the East. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. For those who have completed the Applied Feng Shui course and had requested for your Certificate in Applied Feng Shui, your certificate has already been sent out by Air mail. Date of receipt will depend on the specific country but normally should be within 1 or 2 weeks. Please accept our congratulations! Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee
  18. Dear BND, Most of the time, as an individual we want our individual apratment accessed. In such a situation, the front door is the door of your individual unit. (NOT the main entrance of the building). Usually, when the front door of the main building is being accessed, this is often done by a Feng Shui practitioner for the building owner. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Lars, Thank you for bringing up an interesting question. I can understand your plight in wanting to try to apply the various FS theories. In previous forum messages, I tried to elaborate that priority should be given especially to the `Shapes and Forms' with regards to the location of the position of bed. Therefore, priority should be given to the `proper' placement of the bed. In your situation, although one's altar and mediation table is on opposite wall as the toilet; although it would be `nice' to change the location, but if it does adversely affect the `proper' positioning of the bed, do not do so. Leave the altar/mediation table as it is. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Brenda, I hope you understand that the purpose of this forum is: 1. To clarify doubts or provide an opinion on the various FS practises. 2. To act as a catalyst 3. To help analyse / explain and interpret results. You may if you like to use the Free report under www.geomancy-online.com to generate the Flying Star report. I would not be able to help everyone to do all the mundane things like calculating out where users simply furnish e.g. a Date of birth, and in the next log in, expect all the homework done for them. The purpose of this forum is rather to try to provide quality `answers' if possible using quality time. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Sylvia, 1. It is good to understand the rationale of the East / West group (gua) persons. 2. There are many (many) people in the world where both partners may not be from the same group. And it is very common to find a situation such as yours. 3. In Feng Shui, it is best to use this East/West group or commonly known as Eight House theory to: 3.1 Find out how suitable a house is to the breadwinner. 3.2 Locations where one spent time at. Such as the bedroom. 3.3 Sit facing a good direction ie. placement of table or for studying. 4. Where it comes to element interpretation such as one's house is South therefore, one has a Fire element should be taken `lightly' as it is less accurate to use elements in this context. Especially since, it relates only to one's Year of birth. Pillars of destiny, if properly used would instead be the correct tool to use in such a situation i.e. to determine one's element and strength. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Dear Brenda, 1. In my opinion, Feng Shui based on `sectors' is too general and I feel that it is an unreliable form. 2. The question I often ask myself is: How is it that each and everyone's SW is the marriage and romance corner? It is not possible especially if everyone tries to `enhance the sector. 3. I often quote the situation where there is say only 1 lady and three men have made much effort to enhance their SW. For example, one man placed 1 rose at the SW. While the second male placed 12 roses at SW. The third person places 100 roses at SW. 4. Does it mean that the one that enhances that sector the `most' eventually "gets" the lady? What if they all wait and as a result, a total `stranger' to the three men sweeps the lady off her feet? 5. Apologies if I bring in the Flying Star. But the Flying Star FS is not based on description and then placing numbers in the situation. But rather, the Flying Star is based on two factors that I mentioned in an earlier email: A. Knowing the date of birth of the house. B. Compass direction of the main entrance. 6. These two factors will then determine which sector has what #. And not based on a person's description; pluck numbers from the air and then "saying" that the sector has #2 or #5. 7. There are many FS conceps and Flying Star is one of these concepts. Usually, this is more advanced FS and the concepts should be understood. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Brenda, The Flying Star School of Feng Shui (Compass School) Feng Shui uses numerology such as #1 to #9. #2 is associated with Sickness #5 is associated with Misfortune Both #2 and #5 represents the EARTH element. And yes, since both are Earth elements, #2 and #5 is associated with Yellow colour (or Earth element). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Brenda, Usually, the specific sector is looked at before, providing comments i.e. particularly using Flying Star to check on the elements at that sector with the hope that it is balanced. Paying `homage' to a sector i.e. North = career may not be the right thing to do. However, in my opinion, you can at best take it as interior decor for your home i.e. feel nice with the 3 plants at that area? Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Julia, Frankly, there is not much one can enhance in a small apartment. Where possible, try to make it as `cosy' as possible depending on the one's needs. Needs depend on:- Whether the apartment is used as a `haven' to return to after busy work schedule or used partially for sleep and study. The major principle of Yin and Yang can be applied in the room. Such as making the room more Yin (for good night rest) or semi-yin and yang (for study/relaxation or sleep). Please see below:- Realistically speaking, not much one can do here. It is good to close the bathroom door when not in use. If there is the luxury of a side table; one can place a lamp on it to serve as a symbolic `partition'. But may not be possible in your case. Again, really not much one can do here. It is best not to have the sharp corner(s) aimed particularly directly - especially at the head / neck area. But again, it is best not to let it be aimed at other parts of the body. - Not much choice thou. Warmest Regards, Cecil
