  1. Dear Albert, Since you are in Singapore, perhaps you can let me know the name of the condominium. As it would be difficult to based on a few lines of comments to make judgement on the condominium site. This is because, the site (plot of land) and its surroundings has to be looked into. This includes other features such as roads passing around the condo. As for graves, usually if they are exhumed properly and if the site is fully cleared of graves, this would not be an issue as the Qi should dissipate soon after the development has been completed and lived in where the Yang activity would be high. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Curtis, Please see below:- I am glad that you found the advise useful. For a split level house; it should not apply as what we would like to have is to apply the concept of clear space in the living room and the steps leading up to the split-level i.e. dining is part of this feature. Thus, in your case, there is certainly no need to use a partition. The partition or divider should be used if there is some adverse sha qi such as a toilet facing the main entrance. Here, you have to understand the following: 1. If you are doing a Feng Shui audit to determine which is the main entrance door; then, it would be a main concern as to which door to use to analyse the birth chart of the house. 2. Usually, or predominently; the main entrance door should be considered your main entrance door. 3. Under the Eight House, one feature is to see how suitable the house is to the breadwinner. Other than that, you should not have an unduly concern over the main entrance door.. Many of us are frequently confused as to how to apply : Flying Star Feng Shui with Ba Zi Feng Shui. Do remember that we should: Step 1: Apply Flying Star Feng Shui. For example, as you are trying to place a wind chime at the specific location to supress the imbalance at that specific location. Step 2: After the above has been supressed, you can then consider making the room in harmony with the ba zi i.e. element and strength e.g. weak water. It is acceptable to use a wind chime to supress the bad 4. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Tulip, 1. In my opinion, the most important thing to do is to make sure that the position of the bed conforms firstly to Shapes and Form Feng Shui. 2. This is where, the bed should preferably not be placed on the same wall as the bed. 3. Preferably, the bed sould be on the opposite wall as the bedroom door. 4. It should not be on the same wall as the toilet bowl. 5. The placement of bed to `conform' to the Eight House Theory should be of SECONDARY importance ONLY after Shapes and Form Feng Shui has been taken into consideration. 6. One should avoid placing the bed at odd angles such as e.g. at a 45 degree angle leaving a triangle `hollow' at the back of the bedroom or place it as `an island' in the bedroom. 7. Where possible, consideration should be given to the bed avoiding `beams' above it. 8. Usually, if one has the `luxury' such information as to the suitability of the bed should first be considered before buying a house. For those who have bought their houses or had no prior knowledge of the suitable positions; may not be able to do much in this area. In order to make it good under Eight House, this must never; never be offset against bad Shapes and Form placement which comes first. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Val, In my opinion, with the little information available, it is difficult for me to say exactly for sure if the house you intend to buy is good or not. As you are buying it for an investment; it will be good if the house has good/excellent Shapes and Form. And under Shapes and Form, usually the plot of land and its surroundings has to be surveyed first. After which, other Feng Shui concepts and theories should also be used to look at the interior of the home. For investment, sound financial considerations should be made such as how well the property can be rented out; its rent value etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Marcus, In the west, bees generally signifies industrious and hardworking. For the Chinese, there is very little significance attached to bees. The only significance is that when it is associated with a monkey... a monkey and bee implies the hope for a promotion. I believe, that it is certainly a good sign for you:) Wishing you all the best on your new job! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Derek, Based on the little information provided, you may have to use your personal feeling to determine where you feel comfortable with the placement of a fish tank. Bear in mind that the living room should have clear space and the fish tank can be e.g. a conversation piece or against a wall, where you and your family feel comfortable with. Normally, the Flying Star chart is used to find out if there is any imbalance (if any) at the location where one wants to place a fish tank. Or, because a specific location can activate the water star. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear SL, Since your element is: Strong Wood: 1. To create wealth: you can utilise METAL element. This is where Metal destroys Wood (Strong wood) to create wealth. Thus exhausting it. 2. If you do the above constantly e.g. wear white shirt (white represents metal) or in contact of metal it will certainly help you to exhaust the Strong wood. 3. If you apply the above destructive concept and at the same time exhaust your Strong wood i.e. to weak wood... you can still continue to have some Water element or Wood element in your life. It does not necessary mean that a Strong Wood person (in the above example) should always forgo some Water element or Wood element in their life. 4. Fire and earth elements are in a way considered `neutral' elements for you. 5. Under Luck Pillars the main concern is to determine what season of influence it is in your 10 year luck pillars. For example a sample luck pillar of a Strong Wood person born on 24 November 1954 at 11.0am:- Luck Pillar 2, Age 14 - 22 Here, the focus is what season this period falls? In the above example, this period falls under the Spring season. As this person is a strong wood, this is considered an auspicious period for him/her as it helps him. Please see below: Under the Luck Pillars: Heavenly Stem: Combination join and new element clashes and ten deities are exampined together. Earthly Branch: Three combination directional / two combination new element clashes, harm, punhisment, self puunishment, romance star, movement star, nobelman star, academic satr, arts star ; hidden element, ten dieities, hidden element 2, ten deities 2 ... are looked at to look at the overall result to determine if that luck period is auspicious or requires prevention. This is looked at in relation to the period this seaons falls under. The above will then give a true picture of one's Luck pillars. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Gwen, 1. It is interesting to look at this concept first: " Accumulation of wealth ". 2. The key essence or key success factor; regarded by many Feng Shui Masters is to look at a piece of land i.e. be it as large as a city e.g. Canton and determine to see if the piece of land can be considered as `good' i.e. help to accumulate wealth for the residents or those within the `city'. 3. In Hong Kong, many millionaires or multi millionaires; consult a Feng Shui master to look at the site / plot of land on which they want to built their home. The key idea here is that the site can aid in the `accumulation of wealth'. 4. The Dragon Qi (Chi) For a city, it should be observed that the dragon vein is important: The dragon normally moves from the higher region e.g. at the North and meanders down towards the sea.. bring along the rich dragon vein (life blood). Please see below:- Frankly, there are many considerations here: 1. If a golf course is close-by to landed property; ideally, there should be a barrier or netting to prevent golf balls from becoming a danger. Note: Apologies; as I am not too sure, from your description and can only vaguely visualise i.e. not sure how close is the range towards the home. 2. Sha Qi Sha Qi exists particulary if there are e.g. no trees or buildings and the wind (and particles) blows directly towards the home (exposed). A barrier of trees would help to negate Sha Qi (for example) in such a situation). It depends: 1. If proper construction has been done such as firm foundation and proper soil erosion prevention is done; the chances are less likely for such a house to collape. Due to the fact that gravity eventually pulls down a structure or land at such elevation. Many a times, a situation where there is (extremely) heavy downpour or rain coupled by soil erosion and poor construction (or because of the weight of other houses on this high ground); water added to these homes can provided a significant effect and cause a major landslide. As a result; some of these houses may not stand there for long. It is interesting to note that some Feng Shui practitioners have discounted this theory. Their argument is perhaps that when we discuss about undulations or mountains, we should instead be talking about the tiger hill. While the dragon is more closely associated with the flow of Qi e.g. North meandering downdwards to the `mouth' e.g. of a river. This concept is harder to apply and we should therefore, in this practical world be realistic and stick to ideas or visualise if a plot of land can `accumulate' wealth. It is also considered inauspicious if a house is surrounded with roads on four sides of the land. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Carpazia, Further to what I had mentioned earlier; we can look at the Eight House Theory from a different perspective by asking some questions: 1. How suitable is the house to the breadwinner? If the main entrance is the breadwinner's " death or disaster intangible force "; then this house is considered the most unsuitable to the breadwinner. 2. If the house is most unsuitable to the breadwinner - what does it imply/mean? It means that overall, the breadwinner would not enjoy a quantum leap in Feng Shui. Do note however, that if the Shapes and Form of the house is excellent (or exceptionally excellent) this can instead provide a quantum leap in Feng Shui. 3. If there is no excellent Shapes and Form; normally it implies that the breadwinner will not get a quantum leap in Feng Shui - try as he/she might to " decorate " the house. Therefore, in my opinion, it would be quite "foolish" to spent money on objects, figurines and to `decorate' the place only to achieve a low marginal rate of luck. This is where, many of us, try our luck e.g. purchase lots of luck enhancing items with the hope to achieve financial success. 5. It does help also to understand " How suitable is the house to the breadwinner ". It can help us in the decision of: Should I buy this new house or to move out or sell the house. And (perhaps) look for a better house. 6. On the other hand, the Flying Star Feng Shui is useful particularly to : reduce minimize occurence of " frequent sickness; a misfortune / accident. It is more like "prevention is better than cure". Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Carpazia, I am very glad that you found the information provided here useful:) 1. So long as we understand: a. the purpose of each concept b. its strength and weakness Can we than properly apply all the various concepts confidently. 2.The Eight House Theory is still relevant under the following circumstances: 2.1 How suitable is the house to the owner? This is the most important feature of this theory. 2.2 It would be a BONUS to sleep in a good sector and an additional bonus if we can also sleep facing a good direction. 2.3 Especially for students, one can seat facing one's good direction. 2.4 Because of the ease of understanding this theory; it can be considered an `introduction' to Feng Shui. Because of its simplicity, many people can confidently, grow with proper applications of Traditional Feng Shui. 3. The major flaw of the Eight House Theory is that: 3.1 It takes consideration, only the year of birth. As opposed to Ba Zi Feng Shui which takes into account Year, Month, Day, Time. And in this site: additional pillars such as House of Life and House of Conception. 3.2 It cannot be related to the common denominator i.e. The Five Elements Concept. 3.3 If one noticed carefully, the Flying Star Theory (Analysing the birth chart of the house) and Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny) have a common ground i.e. both can be matched to the Five Elements Concept. 3.4 For more experienced students applying Feng Shui; first and foremost know your element and strength i.e. in your case: Weak Earth element. 3.5 Next, apply Flying Star Feng Shui to check for imbalances (if any). For example, if a particular sector e.g. your bedroom has bad earth element and the cure is 6 metal coins. If you are say a Weak water person, you can harmonise the bedroom (if you are single); add `water' element e.g. paint the walls blue or use `metal' to increase your weak water. (Under the Five elements concept: Metal helps water to grow). But in your case, since you are a Weak Earth person; it is best to apply Flying Star Feng Shui FIRST. And if a particular sector or sectors have #5 or #2 (bad earth elements); For example, if your bedroom has bad earth elements and you had placed a metal cure, it would be best not to help your `weak earth' in the bedroom by either adding Fire (Where fire helps earth to grow) or add earth elements. "Unfortunately" those who are weak earth, has to be particulary careful in increasing your weak earth element (and inadvertenly upsetting the element balance of increasing bad earth in specific sectors). It would be much easier if one's element and strength is Metal element, Water and Wood. However, for wood element, one has to content with bad wood. 4. Therefore, in order to piece the zig saw puzzle properly, one has to take each step in the right order. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  12. Dear Subhas, In my opinion: 1. Although the plot of land is wide at the front and narrows to the back, check that the house does not have an odd shape. Preferably the house should be rectangular in shape. The rest could be the garden area. And proper landscaping can help to reduce the profile of the wide (front) and narrow back. 2. It would not be auspicious if the house where it sits on the land is downward sloping. The entire house should be on level ground. However, the back can be downward sloping. Where possible, proper drainage and if the house is on a hill, it depends on the construction or proper construction such as sinking of the piles and steps taken to prevent soil erosion. 3. In addition, the amount of rainfall for that area should also be taken into consideration. It is usually due to poor construction and the cumulation of rainfall that causes instability to the ground of a house. Which may lead to soil erosion and ultimately the collapse of the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Julie, An `L' shaped house can be divided into two rectangles and the centrepoint of each can be determined. But some find it rather `confusing' having to deal with two rectangles and its centrepoint. An alternative method is to make a copy of the layout plan. Next, paste it on to a cardboard. And cut the outline of the cardboard and with a nail, find the centre of gravity. Alternatively, you can draw an outline and upload as a .bmp ; .jpg or .gif file to this forum for me to assist you. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Curtis, The most effective method is as follows:- 1. Use Ba Zi together with Flying Star Feng Shui. 2. Knowing one's Ba Zi (element and strength) is crucial. For example: a person with weak wood element. 3. For each family member determine their element and strength. Here, for example, for a couple (husband and wife) it is best to determine the `binding' element that helps both parties element `grow'. So that, for example in the bedroom; if the binding element is `water'; then the wall can for example be painted blue or light blue. For the living room furniture e.g. couch blue/black or grey are the best colours to help `bind' the couple. 4. Please note that Flying Star Feng Shui can be taken `standalone'. For example if a particular sector has bad wood elements: this can be e.g. neutralised by metal cure such as hanging six coins at that sector. 5. Do take note that even if a particular sector e.g. NW and West are considered auspicious sectors (based on the base number interpretation); it does not necessary mean that the particular sector is in balance although generally this is considered a good sector. If there are imbalances such as bad wood or bad earth at this sector i.e. NW, one has to try and neutralise it. 6. The Eight House theory is meant more for i.e. if one spents more time at a particular sector. If for example, even if a particular sector is not one of the good sectors; this does not matter much. 7. In my opinion, is that your Ba Zi should harmonise with your house. This is the main consideration. When this is `practised' we term this Ba Zi Feng Shui. For example, if one's element is weak wood; in terms of decoration, one should try to add `more' wood to the home or water. As both water and wood helps weak wood person to grow. 8. Do note that this can be distinct to the Flying Star Analysis of the birth chart of the house. For example, at the NW (Period 7 house): Base number for NW is very auspicious. But if there is bad earth element or bad wood element at NW; this has FIRST to be neutralised under Flying Star concept. After the sector's imbalance has been corrected then can we look at enhancing the room to suit the Ba Zi of the person. Please see below:- I am glad you find this forum useful. Please refer to the (above) explantion. For Flying Star analysis; the main entrance door is determined by first finding the centrepoint of the house. Then stand at the centrepoint and measure the direction of the door from here. This is to determine the `exact' direction for Flying Star computation where one of the variables is the main entrance door direction (compass degree). There is no purpose in determine the direction of the other doors. Unless one is doing sub-charts i.e. if it is a huge house and one wants to do many Flying Star analysis. Otherwise, this is not necessary. Standing at the door or window and looking out is geared towards; looking for potential threats or Sha or poison arrows aimed into the room or door. For example, a lone lamp post that slices the main entrance door. For a weak fire person: 1. It is best to avoid water positions inside the interior of the home. As this may inadvertently weaken or exhaust your weak fire element. 2. It is acceptable; in your case to have a water position at the exterior of your home as this has to do more with Shapes and Forms i.e. activating the water position or having clear space at the frontage of the house. 3. For a weak fire person and if you live on your own; it would be advantages to have `more wood element' in your house. Under the Five elements concept: for a weak fire person: Wood helps fire to grow. Fire element can also help fire (but at a lesser extend to grow). Therefore, if you are living on your own (no spouse) then you can consider e.g. having sofa of e.g. green or brown. It is best to avoid, having red sofa, although it can help weak fire to grow but some locations such as South (fire) may not be that suitable for such a colour especially if the bad stars fly into position at a specific period. It is difficult to apply sector Feng Shui such as my romance `luck' is at ..... e.g. SW sector. This concept is too general as it implies that everyone's romance luck is at a specific sector (If we apply the Eight Aspirations or Life Associations `concept'). In a very recent forum message, I have provided the various combinations of mountain # and water # and its associations with romance. However, this has to do with the specific house and its associated `romance' luck. Not all houses may have such combinations to help `boost' romance luck. Therefore, one may have to work `much harder' in other areas / socialising etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil

  16. Dear Diane, As there are various FS theories, it depends on the application of these theories: 1. Shapes and Forms. Under Shapes and Form Feng Shui, both the ground floor and upper floor(s) should conform to this. Especially the placement of beds/ study table/furniture etc... 2. Eight House Theory. You can apply this to both the ground floor and upper floors(s) i.e. good to spent time at good sectors and/or (a bonus) facing a good direction. 3. Flying Star Theory. Other than to activate a mountain star, concepts of Flying Star can be applied at different levels. For mountain star (if it is found) should only be activated at the ground level of such a two storey house. It would be quite odd to try to activate the mountain star at the upper floor(s). If you still have any further clarifications, please let me know. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Mary, In my opinion: 1. Examine the frontage of the house. Does the frontage have a main entrance and "further away" on the same frontage, a set of sliding glass? If this is the situation, it is usually not advisable to have too many openings i.e. opening the main entrance door at the same time as the sliding glass doors. 2. If the above is the case, a set of long sofa can be placed in front of the sliding glass door. 3. Some people would like to apply the Eight House theory i.e. such that they prefer to seat at locations that are beneficial to them. And if the above position is beneifical or one of your good sectors, and you often sit there than that's fine. 4. Another consideration (not so much of Feng Shui) is how the light filters into the living room. Here, commonsense approach would have it that the TV set and entertainment unit such as Hi Fi should be placed in a `comfortable' position. After this has been done, then, we can than fit our furniture to `suit' the contours of the TV set i.e. seats facing it and/or on one side. 5. Some Feng Shui practitioners may not consider the position you mentioned `favourable' because it was felt that seats e.g. long sofas should preferably be placed against a solid wall or to act as a divider in between the living and/or dining room. The other argument could be that it would not be advantages to have one's back against e.g. the entrance area - on the assumption that some one may just approach the interior of the house (if the house does not have any gate). Warmest Regards Cecil
  18. Dear Suzanne, Under the Eight House theory, there is really nothing much one can do especially if one's bed (rather than bedroom) is at a specific sector. Ideally it would be nice to have the bed located at one of the 4 good sectors but this is not possible for some of us. There are other considerations and most importantly: 1. Shapes and Forms. The placement of the bed should conform to the above. Especially where the bed should (where possible) be placed against a wall and opposite of the bedroom door. There are other considerations under Shapes and Forms. 2. Flying Star analysis. If one's concern is e.g. the `spook' sector at the bedroom; it would be good to try to check that the specific sector is balanced. If not, usually a cure is used here. 3. Look out for external threats e.g. coming into the bedroom. Such as a pointed neighbour's roof or a lone lamp post slicing thru the windows. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Bonnie, As this relates to the home, the Five Elements concept (in Traditional Feng Shui) has to be related to the Flying Star analysis. Where, each sector in the Flying Star analysis is looked at i.e. the interaction of the elements of the mountain star# + water star# + base number. The result of this interaction will determine whether there is any imbalances at the specific sector. What you mentioned is in my opinion very basic observations of the Five elements concept. In quite alot of replies, I do mentioned that because of the `bad' elements such as #5 misfortune and #2 sickness which are both earth elements and bad wood #3 are often found in the home in various sectors. In such a situation, having metal element is considered quite a safe `element' even if there MAY be quite alot of it. Metal is used mostly to neutralise the bad earth and bad wood elements. For information, Fire destroys metal may not necessarily be bad. For example, please take a look at this sample logo:- http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/imagesearch.cgi?img=0&search=oub&cat=all&x=21&y=6 You will notice that the first two pictures show one of my country's local bank's logo:- Where fire element is represented by (purple). And the I-ching coin at the centre of the logo represents metal. Here, the Fire element is used to destroy metal the result? Is suppose to create wealth. It is best to fully understand the Five elements concept rather than to apply it in the wrong manner. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Suzanne, A `flat' refers to the British language term that is equivalent to "an apartment or even condominium. Therefore, a flat number refers to the apartment's number e.g. #17-04 etc... The free Flying Star flat/apartment number analysis report therefore provides information on the `auspicious/inauspicious' interpretation of a flat/apartment. Ref: www.geomancy-online.com (Flying Star House no. report). Warmest Regards, Cecil Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Felicity, In my opinion, it would be more frutiful to try to boost our luck in other areas (if we can). Namely under: 1. Feng Shui of the home - Shapes and forms of the home - Others such as Flying Star. 2. Pillars of destiny - personal luck. 3. Protect the house such as the main entrance door or windows from poison arrows. 4. As for how to counteract the effects of having the main entrance door under `death sector' ... we can do only that much ie. to comfort ourselves such as, closing the door when not in use or keep the location bright. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Dear Mogford, 1. I understand your `problem' faced trying to apply Feng Shui to your boat house. 2. A boat house is quite `similar' to a small apartment and dormitory. 3. Applying Feng Shui to your boat house is indeed very difficult and because of space constraints or the uniqueness of the layout, there is not much `enhancements' one can do other than: 3.1 To make the house boat as `cosy' or comfortable to the individual. 3.2 Application of Shapes and Forms is more crucial i.e. `parking' the boat in a secured and sheltered environment. Here, it is like houses which is on a barren land and subject to strong force of wind blowing. It is such unprotected situations e.g. storms and strong gale or force of wind that can result in `sha' qi. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Anon, 1. The symbolic method to making another main door is to place the house no. on that door instead of the `actual' main entrance door. 2. In my opinion, one can still use the other `main door' and it is not necessary to `seal' off that door. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Anon, 1. In most traditional FS practises, the person's true element i.e. weak or strong element is taken into consideration especially in trying to make the room more closely `fit' the Ba Zi of the person. 2. Thus, if you are a weak water person, light blue colour and even blue colour bedsheet is considered beneficial to a person with weak water element. 3. The caution with `blue' lies with it over a person or room. For example, it is avoidable to paint the ceiling of the room blue. As this represents `difficulty' or water weighing on a person i.e. in the room. 4. For a bedsheet, for example, one is sleeping on top of it. And e.g. light blue painted on the wall; does not always give rise to such concerns. 5. Thus the best method is to check to see if the element can harmonise or be in harmony with a person's Ba zi. For a husband and spouse, usually a `binding' element is used instead. Warmest Regards, Cecil
