Dear Anon, More importantly, the consideration should be i.e. either standing inside the home e.g. the main entrance or sliding doors looking out of the home. If one stands inside, e.g. at the main entrance looking out and can see a lamp post or the tree, then this is considered as a sha qi. Since, it can slice into the home. But if it is a solid wall (within the house), where the lamp post is, then this is generally not a sha qi. Planting plants that have relatively a cluster of foilage would be good if the lamp post can be directly seen when standing at the main door or sliding doors etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mitesh, Candles has been used in-the-past basically because there were simply no electricity i.e. no harm. The only caution is to stay clear of moving wind or curtains or anything close-by that can be inflammable. As candles give off heat, it is also about circulation of heat and air. Frankly a proper ventilated room can do as well (without) candles. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear ashwini, For the installation of chiming clocks, it is best to use it at locations that has a cluster of bad Flying star numbers. For example, it can be used independently if one sector has either one #5 or #5 combined with other bad stars like #2, or #3 or #4. For the centre of the home where the three doors are aligned. There is no issue with a wind chime there. But in my opinion, it is more "cosmetic" than effective. But if it does help to "calm the nerves" by all means. Since many of our uncomfort is due to "worring too much". Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mr. Lee, I can't thank you enough for such a lovely course. I have really enjoyed my vacation as I feel I had all the time to study and read the flying star. I have enjoyed it greatly and would appreciate it if you could send me my certificate at your earliest. Thanks again and will keep in touch. Best regards from Dubai Ghada Essa Course Student September 2004 --- "This was a request for the Xuan Kong Flying Stars Certificate. I completed the course today." "It was great! With practice, I can actually improve the feng shui of my home/work." Robert Chu, MSOM, PhD Course Student 4 September 2004 --- "Your website is extremely helpful and very well laid out and easy to navigate. Your advice and free report software is amazing." Dear Anon, Firstly, don't get confused. 1. Gua or Kua number is soley based on one's Year of birth. 2. A proper ba zi chart or the free chart provided on this website takes into account one's Year, Month, Day and if one know's one's hour of birth, ba zi is an interaction of all these variables: heavenly stems and earthly branches to find out our element and strength. 2. Furthermore, Gua is soley based on the Eight House or Ba Chai compass school and is one one of the methods used to assess a direction that is or is not suitable to us. 3. I am not going to go into details as all the available information can easily be found on any of these topics: Compass School: Eight House Ba Zi 4. What is more important is to understand or use the three-step approach: 4.1 what are it's purpose 4.2 what are it's strengths 4.3 what are it's weakness 5. The clue here is that : Ba zi element and strength is considered a "lowest common denominator" or LCM for both bazi and flying star. Both use the five elements approach. While eight house does not use it. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear David, Often, when one has already stayed in an existing home; and if one knows how to draw and analyse Flying Star chart(s); Since you have stayed in the home since 1981, it is more sensible to draw several Flying star chart(s).

What does Orange colour comes under which of the Five Elements? Please see below:- Please explain to me why Orange belongs to the Metal Element? During the Chinese New Year celebration, it is common for individuals to bring two oranges when visiting friends or family. For the Cantonese community, oranges symbolize wealth and prosperity. In Cantonese, the word for Orange is pronounced as KUM, which translates to GOLD. Oranges are also considered as belonging to the Metal element by the Hokkien dialect group. Hokkien dialect group also consider oranges as Kim or Gold. This is the reason why Orange is linked to the Metal element.

Dear Glenetta, The closest to the definition to a wealth pot is thru the use of Flying Star Feng Shui. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, one should locate the mountain star MS #8. Where appropriate, this should be the mountain wealth position i.e. which represents relationship and lottery luck. Erh, in-case, if one is totally new and never heard of Flying Star Feng Shui, then, it is best for the person to do more research into this Compass School topic. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, In Feng Shui, we should often look at the "bigger" picture of things. A bed frame can be made of wood or metal; often this does not really matter. In fact, it does not really matter if the bed frame is made of different types of wood - so long as they can "last" or worth the amount it is being paid for. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mitesh, To be truly honest, this has more to do with relationships, then Feng Shui. From my opinon, usually, if a relationship has carried on for more than 3 years, sometimes, maybe things got taken for granted or "turned dull". It is best that you discuss especially with someone close what could have gone wrong. Or alternatively see if you can first understand what really made you leave her. It takes two hands to clap and often even if there is a third party, there is usually a trigger point for her to just leave you. If she still loves you, perhaps, as mentioned above, see what went wrong and if possible try to win her over again. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ling Ling, Please see below:- Often if no screen or partition is used, simply closing that particular window is ok. But if the window is left open, then a blind could be "poor alternative". Avoid bright yellow or cream or beige especially in the bedroom or bright red or pink in the master bedroom. This could be the colour of the walls or curtains or bedsheet.

Dear Ana, One alternative is to e-mail to support@geomancy.net Afterwhich, I can help to upload to this forum. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Further to what I had mentioned; For house no: 9, it is not advisable for this house or the rest of the houses to have the main entrance door -- directly facing the cul-de-sac. In this simple attachment, it is best that such houses have a driveway i.e. in grey colour. And the main entrance door as shown under e.g. house no. 9 opening away from the cul-de-sac....

Dear Vincent, I would agree with you that central palace could most likely still be a Period 7 especially if there is no major renovations done on or after CNY 2004. For example, if you had not done any major renovations or if the existing owners did not do any major renovations; or if there are no major renovations done on the external also, then normally it is best to consider your home as a Period 7. However, after taking over the apartment this year, if you had done a major renovation, then your apartment can be considered as a Period 8. In my opinion, if you did not do a major renovation, it should be considered as a Period 7 analysis. Early this year, there were quite alot of postings on how to change to Period 8 or the actions on how to do so. Usually, it is often best to study your chart to see if which Period is more favourable. And often, a good practitioner would often chart out two charts to give one an option especially if one has yet to do any major renovations -- if you have not done so, yet. So that one has a better understanding or advice. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mitesh, To be truly honest, it is best that you confide your problem with a close family member or even a friend. Especially at this time of need. Or do seek help from a voluntary org. in your country. Generally, many of us do encounter relationship problems and as mentioned above, try to confide in someone to hear your problems. Take care! Cecil

Dear Anon, In my opinion, this can be quite "tricky". For example, if it involves a major renovation to get the entire basement upgraded, there is a likely chance that your home can change to period 8. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Unless the back of the house is the frontage, if not there is often no significance attached to it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Truly, in this case, you really have not much place left for an office. For most office, so long as it is well ventillated e.g. with air-con. This is OK. However, if (last resort) you are using your home bomb shelter, one can still do so so long as there is also sufficent ventilation and lighting. Frankly, often, the rubbish cute is closed when not in use. Not a major issue. Therefore, if you really have no choice, do try it out first and see how it goes, here. Of-course, if there are any other choice e.g. using the living room - where one can see the day - night, this is much the better. In such a confined room as the bomb shelter, it is good to have very light music or a clock to show the time. It also depends on one's tolerance level. Some of us can work, just anywhere, while for others, a higher sensitivity. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Apologies. The sentence under Paragraph no. 5 should instead be:- " Generally, besides other considerations, house no. 11, 12 and 1, 2, 3 are not affected by the cul-de-sac, since they are along a parallel road." As I had wrongly mentioned house no. 10, above. House no. 10 is affected by the cul-de-sac as mentioned earlier under Para 1. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Satori, Frankly, there is no harm in placing a rug. Perhaps, this is more like taking a "sugar-coated" pill. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Two water elements
Cecil Lee posted a topic in Ba Zi Feng Shui / 4 Pillars of Destiny / Life Reading
Dear Anon, For your home, in general the binding elements are:- 1. Wood (Green or brown or wood furniture). 2. Fire (Red, pink or purple). Under the Five Elements concept, the above is used therefore to help "bind" a couple. Strong water vs strong water is not so bad as:- Strong metal person with a strong water person. Here, often, a strong metal person could add "greater" stress to a strong water person. However, even in such a combination; this relationship is beneficial to a Strong metal person. Warmest Regards, Cecil -
Dear Anon, Thank you for the rough sketch: 1. Generally, based on your sketch (without taking into consideration other issues like where is the main entrance): Home no. 9 is the worst. Home no. 8 is the 2nd worst. Home no. 10 is the 3rd worst. 2. The above three homes no. 8, 9, 10 would be particularly inauspicious especially if the main door faces directly the cul-de-sac. 3. Depending on the distance of the home to the cul-de-sac, and if for example, if the gate is a drive-thru and if the main entrance is on the side and not facing the cul-de-sac; plus, if there is often a retaining wall that shield's the main gate (wall), then, the effects will be lessened. 4. For no. 5, 6 and 7:- The main door should not directly face the cul-de-sac. There should be a driveway leading into the home. And if possible, the main entrance is at the side. 5. Homes that are not affected by the cul-de-sac:- Generally, besides other considerations, house no. 10, 11, 12 and 1, 2, 3 are not affected by the cul-de-sac, since they are along a parallel road. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Frankly, so long as you try to do minor renovations or do if possible do it piecemeal i.e. renovation a few locations at a time e..g not more than 1/4 of the home, usually your home would not fly into the new period. Thus, if you need to change the carpet, see if it is possible or feasible to do them piecemeal:-
