Dear Theresa, Yes, metal is a good solution given that it creates a three-element flow ie. Under the productive sequence, there is a three combination, "auspicious" flow Earth - Earth - In the period 8, I would like to activate the sector of my house with water star 8, however it comes with a combination of mountain star 1, water star 8 and base star 5. As earth controls water and weaken self, prosperity will be withhold or weakened. I was told to place metal to neutralize the effect, but I wonder by implementing metal will it strengthen water and further weaken prosperity star 8? What is the best solution? This sector is painted green. Would appreciate advice.

Dear All, 1. Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew has consistently avoided having statues or portraits of himself displayed, despite his remarkable success. 2. In contrast, dictators often promote themselves through grandiose statues and propaganda photos. However, history has shown the downfall of such dictators in countries like Poland and Iraq. This analogy can be applied to the deceptive practices of certain Feng Shui practitioners who exploit unsuspecting individuals by selling them subpar products under the guise of Feng Shui. 3. These unethical practitioners tarnish the reputation of Feng Shui and deceive people for their own financial gain. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear All, Nowadays, I do get messages (an extract) such as this statement:- "Will there be a lot of purchases needed if the house 'fengshui' is no good? One of my friend needs to spend about S$2K to purchase lots ofstuffs " Many Feng Shui practiitioners are trying to enrich themselves by not only doing "Feng Shui" but also pushing products. This will certainly make them (the practitioners) "filthy rich" at our expense. If one reads the many messages in this forum, one can understand that many people who had purchased such products simply do not get results. Spread the word around with your friends that such practices are akin to "con-games". Let's put a stop to such non-sense - if we can! Simply don't support these people who hide under the guise of "Feng Shui" to tempt our greed. This is because many of the products are produced cheaply but sold at such a high mark-up to us! Recently, we were invited to a Feng Shui fair at SAFRA. I met this Chinese Feng Shui practitoner. He also shares the same understanding that products are literally "rubbish". To the extend that he also checked with the organiser that if anyone sells such products were invited to the fair, he will also not attend it. The morale of the story "Normal people don't buy such products. Perhaps ONLY ABNORMAL people buy them. So,do you want to be normal or abnormal?" Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Emily, In my opinion, instead of going-head-on at looking at ways to neutralise this bad stars, it is good to check (long-term)whether your home can or cannot benefit from "flying" to Period 8. In particular what are the stars in the bedroom. Is it much better in Period 8 or the same? For this room, in particular, try to avoid having too much earth tones or in particular avoid Yellow. Since earth can further fuel metal (#7 x2). Although #3 is not so favourable, but given that metal destroys wood (#3), it is a blessing in disguise. For the bedroom, the best element or colour scheme would be the water element e.g. blue, black or grey. This is the best element, here. Where water can help draw-out or reduce the metal element. Try to avoid using real water, in the bedroom - this is a double-edged sword. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anooja, Under this current Period 8: 1. Past prosperity sectors are WS:7 and/or MS:7 This is already considered as past prosperity and not worth activating unless there is a double 7 (which in this case, a water position can be used to drown it). 2. Present prosperity sectors are now WS:8 and/or MS:8 If the sector meets the conditions e.g. if there is clear space such as in a living room and if this location has WS:8, then water can be used to activated wealth here. Similiarly check to see if a mountain star can be activated at section with MS:8 3. Future prosperity Since we are under Period 8, we should not forget about #9 since #9 is known as the future prosperity. This sector (also if it meets the criteria) can also be activated. To bring in a chain of present prosperity with future prosperity. An auspicious combination. For example, it would be a pity to activate or place water at a location that has #9 (fire element). As mentioned, the above are not fixed rules but rather, it should be taken as a guideline since it is always best to compare all three elements: WS with MS with Base to come up with a proper balance. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Anooja, For both mountain and water star, one has to look carefully at the sector to see if it can be activated. For MS8, if it is at the north and if there is a wall behind it (not an open window), than the mountain star can be activated here. As opposed to the west. Since you had mentioned that west has a ws8. And ws8, goes with a water position not a mountain position. For example:- MS = 8 This is the current period - mountain star location. In your case, it is at North WS=8 In your case is at West. Or this is the water wealth location. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Regina, Yes, lighting is a better alternative especially if one is in the room - turn it on. But, if no one is in the room, I strongly feel that it is not necessary to leave it on 24 hours. If no one is in the room try not to draw the night curtain, but let natural light filter into the room, will do. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, All these objects have more to do with commercialisation, than Feng Shui. One should take these items as a decorative item. For example, if one is too free, can make an experiment: 1. Mon, Tue, Wed = let it face the main entrance 2. Thurs = face the living room 3. Friday = face NE 4. Saturday = face SE 5. SUNDAY? Hmm... " How about throwing it away?" Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. The morale of the story? " Para 5 - It is a good idea!"

Dear Agnes, Although sometimes, we read that slanted roofs are "inauspicious" but frankly this is very common and in my opinion, do not pose any issue especially if they do not have large beams "falling" down on a bed or a sit. Or large beams can be seen, when we look up directly. You should, try to check out your best sleeping direction or work direction using the Eight House theory, first. Then check to see if these positions can be applied to your bedroom (in relation to the shapes and forms of the room). Under the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, try to, see if the bed / tables/chairs can be positioned "comfortably". Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear HP, In my opinion, your home is still considered as a Period 7 home. This is because Lunar New Year falls on 22 Jan 2004 and it ends only on the 15th day after 22 Jan 2004. And 6 Feb falls within this "curcial" new year period. Anyway, a Period 7 home can change or remain at Period 7 or to Period 8. While a Period 8 home cannot go back to the past. In order to go back to the past: Please purchase "Back to the Future: Part III" video. "Surely, one can than imagine going to the past *JOKE* Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Christine, You can use the free Eight Housereport(s) at http://www.geomancy-online.com or alternatively, use the "manual" hyper-links to check your date of birth and then click on the correct Eight House chart under this resource: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Regina, Frankly, between the two, and if this is a regular (room) and not a storeroom, than often, opening such a room to tother rooms to let in fresh air is often a more sensible approach. Unless we live in a space station, where we can simply seal up a room, than we could go ahead to lock up the room. Opening a room, by having doors opened all round a home would allow for constant fresh air to move or circulate within a home. In Feng Shui, the worst senarios are : suffocationg qi or stale qi especially from a normal room. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mui Ing, Frankly, although, this may sound uncomfortable, it is not as "bad" as compared to a toilet e.g. toilet bowl on the same wall as the bed-head. This is because, a water position is much like this article: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-under.htm Where the invisible vapours of water could cause cancer. However, for a stove, the only main issue(s) are: 1. If one forgot to switch off the gas. It can affect any room in the whole house. 2. Other than this, usually there is often not a major issue of a stove "affecting" the other side. Since, we do not cook at night and a reasonable thick wall. Frankly, therefore, I do not see it as a major direct threat as compared with water positions. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Phua, Please see below: Frankly, I personally feel that plants are ok. I feel that this is kind of a hearsay information. Since miniature bamboo is very popular today: very easy to maintain or nearly no maintenance at all - since it can strive on just a layer of water - easy to fill the container. Look at it this way, cactus have torns so even more "pointed" than this tiny plant. If you are simply looking at it from a Shapes and Forms perspective, than often, it should be placed in the living room - "to be enjoyed". For Flying Star Feng Shui sectors that has water star #8 *current wealth sector* or water star #6 (metal sector) or water star #7 (neutralising this bad #7). The above are possibilities. Usually, it should chime around that area. There is no fixed distance. For example: 33.3 cm from the door etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Peter, Can you let me know the Flying Star direction. As some directions can truly consider changing period, while others are not favourable or have to check out whether it can be effective e.g. where is the living room vs the star numbers, centrepoint etc... Alternatively, if you know how to analyse, whether Period 8 is better - then this is the way to go about it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Phua, Yes, in Singapore, anyone especially middle management staff who are also over 40+ often have difficulty finding another jobhttp://www.geomancy.net/wbimages/smiles/icon_sad.gif For the time being, unless you really have another alternative, have no choice but to "REN" or be patient! What is worse-off is without a proper job. Look at it this way, everyone will have to grow old someday and these people who treat the "elderly" will no doubt share the same or even worse fate! When the tough gets going, you simply have to gain courage or even get support from close ones especially family members! But most of all, don't despair! Do your best! Take care! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Carlos, Please see below:- In my opinion, in your case, it is best to First-fix-the leak! What you had described i.e. your bedroom falling between NE and E with potent inauspicious combinatins of NE = M5 W9 and E = M5 W9 B5 Are very inauspicious combinations. Where 5 is already bad but fueling it with W9 is equally bad. As mentioned in a similar reply to this type of question, today (forum message): Try to: 1. Avoid using particularly YELLOW (earth) and / or FIRE (Red, pink or purple) within this room. 2. If need to use constant metal e.g. outside the bedroom window with a wind chime or other constant metal or even a glass jar filled with salt /six coins - please do a search for the exact - items for this. 3. Because #8 and #5 are same earth elements - trying to enhance one could inadvertently inflame the other! Thus seriously I personally feel that you should (MUST) "FIX-THE-LEAK, FIRST!" Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Emily, 1. Other than Yr3, (although bad wood - that is helpful, this time around), the other combinations of #5 x 2 fueled with M#9 fire is indeed - pretty bad. (Yes, very inauspicious). 2. The idea behind the neutralising of #5 is the use of constant metal. Thus, imagine this: a wind chime that does not make (constant) noise is as good as not having a wind chime at all. This is akin to swallowing a sugar coated pill with no good visible results. 3. With this potent combination of #5 x 2, one sure need to have pretty much constant metal to activate some kind of a neutralisation. 4. Thus a wind chime outside of the house or at the balcony is a much better choice. 5. In addition, to scan this location for any addition of "unwanted" earth elements e.g. porcelin decorative items. If so, try to place them somewhere else. 6. Also, try to avoid any tone of colours such as earth tones especially YELLOW colour or Chili RED colours. These two "primary" colours are best avoided, here. 7. Often, I speak of the "Bruce Lee - method" and the "Jackie Chan method". 8. Many of us seen Bruce Lee's shows. He goes all out to maim or kill his opponents with as little blows as possible. 9. Thus, in my opinion, hanging a wind chime is the equavalent of using blows to destroy i.e. #5. 10. The Jackie Chan method is that one could perhaps, place a water feature at the balcony, by applying the five elements to use the "Tai Qi" effect, to create a flow of water -> 6 gold fish 1 black gold fish -> in a rectangle fish tank - is another alternative. 11. I do not want to sound so cruel, but, often, these fishes may die or need to be "sacrificed" but if so, do replace them immediately. The saying goes " It is either the fish or US?" *Fish lovers* I beg you not to report me to the SPCA!! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear All, Mr Wasis Sugiono, a regular forum user says that his friend found that the Suunto brand compass can be bought cheapest at one or two shops located in Lucky Plaza, Singapore. If you are in Singapore and instead of ordering from the internet, you can perhaps check out Lucky Plaza, at Orchard Road, Singapore. (Next to Marriot Hotel) and within walking distance of Orchard MRT station. Warmest Regards, Cecil Wasis Sugiono" (email-address removed) wrote in message

Dear James, The developer had adopted "some Feng Shui aspects". In particular, if one looks down into the swimming pool, one sees the profile of some Chinese ancient i-ching coin profile i.e. Chinese coins with square hole, with the blue coloured tiles in the swimming pool. Sometime back I went to the Block 52 (units facing marking K) Source: http://www.themadeira.com.sg/main_siteplan.html In particular, I did not like at this facing because of the less than favourable Flying star numbers. As well as overlooking what looks like a "tomb" at a distance away. (Stadium). Like other condominiums, there are still favourable units. But looks the the better units are taken up. (Especially due to the fact that at the initial launch, it was reasonably priced. What remains are the "left-over" units. In particular, in my opinion, units that are suppose to be good, and facing the pool / guard room - are under direct west sun. So, these units/ living and some bedrooms can be quite literally "hot". Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Nicole, 1. Kitchen at the south compass direction. If the kitchen is located at the compass direction -> south; this is the location of fire. Given this situation, there is no issue with a stove facing a water position. However, if the kitchen is located at the north, where north is the water sector, than, it would not be advantages, to have a stove facing the water position. 2. Facing direction of the stove Since, the kitchen is suppose to be the "woman's domain". Nowadays, it can also be the "house-man" or house husband. But traditionally, since this is the wife's domain, it is best that the stove faces the direction that is suitable for the wife. 3. Use of Mirror to correct the situation 3.1 What happens if one cannot relocate a stove which is facing e.g. a fridge. 3.2 A mirror or a reflective piece can be pasted onto the fridge facing the "flame" portion of the stove. Here, it is said that the stove is reflected back or the "warmth" is being reflected back. 4. Thus, for the stove, often check out the wife's best facing direction similar to that of the "work direction" when cooking. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Master Cecil First and foremost, after reading your advise on doing a search on the forum to my questions, I feel that you are indeed a very generous person. Who on earth will give out their valuable knowledge to others without taken a single penny. I did a search on crystals and changing of house period and found out that in your forum/reply, you went into very detailed reply with no cost (except for the internet bills). Once again...thank you. My doubts are cleared. Sincerely, Janice Wong Wai Yee Malaysia 20 March 2004 Dear Robert, Thank you for the reply. I had sent a short thank you to Master Cecil's response to my question on the forum. I think you (both) are doing a great job. Your pride and enjoyment in doing your work shows through on the great website you have built. I know the hard work you have put in, also conducting my business and interest through a website. Best regards, Keith Orlando United Kingdom 30 April 2004

Dear Gordy, Yes, I personally feel that your comments are appropriate. Try to see if anything can be done to remove the large tree trunk. The 50 metres distance is considered very close proximity plus since it is visible from your home, the best to see if it can be removed, ASAP. The other alternative is: "If it is if it cannot be seen, it is no longer a threat". Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ken, Please see below:- Glad that you are able to find your way aroundhttp://www.geomancy.net/wbimages/smiles/icon_smile.gif The second part, lists every since day in that month. On the actual day itself, one can see both the "English" dates with the Lunar dates shown. On this same "side" it will show the indication of the dates or whether the dates clash with the Tung Shu calendar. If so, there will be remarks like: "Qing Ming" or "Clash with the monkey year" etc... This portion is more related to the Tung Shui. While on the right, shows whether the day is auspicious or not for you. Frankly, from my opinion, the greater part has to do with the earth luck. Like you mentioned, weaing jewellery is a less attractive option both in terms of the "threat" of robbery or, becoming the odd one out. Imagine someone poking a pin on their tongue etc... Citrine jewellery, etc... I would think has more to do with cosmetic or decorative piece than helping us in any way. Under the Compass School of Feng Shui, there are only basically two principles or concepts: 1. Eight House / Four Good/Four bad directions 2. Flying star Feng Shui Many traditional Feng Shui practioners apply these theories: a. Shapes and Forms (this often preceeds the Eight House or Flying Star Feng Shui). For example, the recent TOP of Gardens @ Bishan. Please refer to the attachment. One will notice that I had placed an " X " onto the masterbed, denoting that it is inauspicious to sleep with the head so close to the toilet bowl. Thus, given this, either one has to place an extra cabinet at the bed head or move the bed onto the opposite wall. Therefore: By priority: 1. Shapes and Forms comes first, 2. Next, Eight House 3. Next, Flying Star (Both being the only Compass School Feng Shui are meant to be used on the home analysis). 4. Next, use ba zi Feng Shui e.g. harmonise the colour scheme to match one's element etc.. In general, Ba zi Feng Shui is meant more to be related to the frontage or facing direction of a home. For example, if the main door is facing NE, i.e. earth house, than it will benefit a person who is a weak metal person or a weak earth person. Frankly, it is difficult to place Ba Zi to coincide exactly with the Eight House or vice versa. For one, there is never such a good match. Don't blame me if one gets more white hair (afterwards) than the Prime Minister (PM) of Singapore. As all PM's will often grow white hair, after 10-15 years in office! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Joan, Frankly, it all boils down to "It depends". Or based on each situation. For those who had studied management principles, it is called " Situational approach". And this principle suggest that no two situations are alike. Thus, sometimes what we read, could be a general statement. Let us not forget that, as I had mentioned previously, more importantly, we should not only look at the four inner walls of a home but rather, the biggest influence is the environment. In many of my past messages, I had mentioned; that Shapes and Forms prevail: External vs internal, SWOT analysis i.e. S.W.O.T refers to Strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats to a specific location and unit. Perhaps, there are more "strengths and opportunities" - auspiciousness vs inauspiciousness in the home. And Feng Shui is a very complex issue both requiring much Science as well as art. The eight house is just one gig-saw puzzle out of the whole complex art and science of Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil
