Hi Master Cecil, I must really compliment your professional practice. I have been reading from your website since Year 2002, always find it interesting and knowledgeable. Is only recently that I have decide to do a house audit. Seeing your compliments in your website makes me determine in using your service. Your professional attitude is really impressive. They are all right about your service. My husband's work and health improves after your advice in swapping our bedroom to study room. Now we are waiting for our wealth luck to improve. Thanks so much. Celine Lim Tuesday, March 02, 2004

Dear Angelina, Yes, it is very common to find windchimes with varying or different lengths. This is perfectly OK. Usually, some of them have clinger or the middle coin attached to it - being too heavy to make any sound. (I suspect only a hurricane or a typhoon sized wind may cause it to make a sound. *JOKE*) The better windchimes are those with alluminium rod with a wooden "roof/support" and a wooden clinger. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Fiona, Frankly, with or without ba zi analysis, many people have opted to change their names. In fact, name change (or for that matter) is pretty easy. One only needs to go to a lawyer, ask for a "deed poll" service. And the lawyer will prepare a deed poll for effecting a name change. In Singapore, depending on the law firm, the service charge is around $150 to $200 for this change. One can present this document to the National Registration Office to process a change of IC name. Of-course, bank accounts etc.. should be updated with the name change. Also by presenting the copy of the deed poll to the bank or any institutions of borrowing. It is a legal copy that is widely accepted. Under Chinese name change criteria, sometimes, we do not need to change our name but rather the character in a name. Thus, sometimes, there can be a subsitute for one of our "bad" name characters with a similar sounding name. This could be that the new name has a better stroke. Here, one may not need to effect a deed poll since, we still get to use a similar sound name. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Rory, To be honest, your question is too general, thus it is like calling all black cats "bad" without relevance to each specific sector's imbalances (if Flying Star Feng Shui is applied). Warmest Regards, Cecil Looking forward to Rory

Dear Hoa, Usually, what you had mentioned has more to do with selecting a name or changing your name. Often rather than using the above to analyse a sector of a home. Thus, the below is often a glimpse of the outcome of after selecting a name and checking it out:- For example case 1: Five Element(2 Wood, 1 Fire, 0 Earth, 2 Metal, 3 Water) Yin & Yang2 Yin, 6 Yang Name HarmonyMetal-Water-Wood = Inauspicious Tian Di Ren Ge4/5 Auspicious Max Luck is 4/5 due to Surname (Tian Ge) Inauspicious Tian Di Ren Ge DetailsTian-Inauspicious, Di-Auspicious, Ren-Auspicious Wai-Auspicious, Shu-Auspicious Name Luck1/5 Auspicious Name Luck Details1 to 12 - Inauspicious 13 to 24 - Mix Blessing 25 to 36 - Inauspicious 37 to 48 - Inauspicious 49 & up - Auspicious For example case 2: Five Element(0 Wood, 0 Fire, 1 Earth, 3 Metal, 4 Water) Yin & Yang4 Yin, 4 Yang (Balanced) Name HarmonyMetal-Water-Water = Inauspicious Tian Di Ren Ge2/5 Auspicious Max Luck is 4/5 due to Surname (Tian Ge) Inauspicious Tian Di Ren Ge DetailsTian-Inauspicious, Di-Auspicious, Ren-Auspicious Wai-Inauspicious, Shu-Inauspicious Name Luck1/5 Auspicious Name Luck Details1 to 12 - Inauspicious 13 to 24 - Auspicious 25 to 36 - Inauspicious 37 to 48 - Inauspicious 49 & up - Inauspicious Usually, the elements are meant to analyse the Tian Di Ren Ge and not so much of using it to balance the bedroom etc... Dear Angelina, Please see below: A water feature is the best solution, already. Painting the door blue is not necessary or in my opinion an over-kill. You can instead place a blue mat outside the main door. Yesterday, Robert Lee has launched the Yearly or monthly flying star generation - for those interested to monitor stars especially like #5 , #2 or #3. You are For a wind chime: best to use 6 hollow metal/alluminium rod wind chime. Never use a colourful wind chime. I need Frankly, with a water position, it is currently safe already. "Flying" now will become "cheaper" with the slow introduction of "budget" airlines in Singapore! with the launch of Valueair, Lion air in the next year or two!!! etc.. *JOKE ONLY* Thus budget "flying" to the new period is e.g. repainting the entire ceiling of the home. But, this may take a while to change to the new period. More expensive "flying" i.e. major renovations may be often out of the question for budget reasons or home is very new. Thus, not practical to sit in the Business class of Singapore Airlines (SIA). Warmest Regards, Cecil

In Feng Shui, in situations where: 1. A stove directly faces (opposite) a water position. Often, a small mirror is placed at the water position, such that when one lits up the hob, the mirror can "reflect" back the "fire". 2. This is also for a stove facing an open window. A small mirror is placed at the level / hob, to reflect back the "warmth". 3. Some FS practitioners also advise placing a mirror at the back of the stove. Do guess what is this for? Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Frankly, looks like, in-order to replace the mirror it has to be prised /cracked to reply. Actually, I feel that: 1. Often, the first is based on "Common-sense approach". One reason why, it is not favourable to break the glass is because of splinters or shards of glass. Proper cleaning after the removal is OK. 2. Any since the glass is already chipped, so long as you are not the one removing it, I feel that this is OK. Where possible, or a more practical approach is to let the workmen remove-it while you do not see the activity. 3. Here, you are not the one breaking up the glass. 4. If you have not moved-in, yet, it is better! Do all this before your actual move-in date. Otherwise, frankly, if it has to be replaced, it has to be replaced. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Nisha, It is understandable, when you mentioned that you are only a tenant and would like to have many of your favourite things in your bedroom. Yes, I do encourage you to make first and foremost your room as comfortable with all your favourite things! It does not matter if there are fishes. But, it brings you both pleasure and comfort - GO FOR IT! The logic here is based on this understanding: 1. Often, many good FS practitioners will stick to or advise their clients on the Holy Trinity of Feng Shui: 1.1 Heaven Luck - what is given to us 1.2 Earth Luck - our abode / work place 1.3 Human Luck - what brings us happiness:) Sometimes, for some, we have limited earth luck i.e. we do not own the place. However, often, if we are happy, positive in life, this is human luck. And it can actually bring up our life (despite average earth luck etc..) So, do follow your heart! Cheers! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Wishing you best of luck in getting a job soon! Please see below:- Do make yourself at home:) If you need both networking luck and wealth luck, trying to map out a Flying star chart specific to your home. I had taken a break should I enhance the The more "politically" correct way is as mentioned to draw a specific Flying star chart for your home. Instead of enhancing north with a water feature, try your best to under Period 8 to locate the water star #8. This is suppose to be your water wealth position. Location mountain star #8. And place a solid object with mass at this location. This is to activate your networking luck. In addition if there are good mountain stars like #9, you can also activate it for luck / networking luck. This sure beats just "blindly" placing the water position at north = water position. (please check on this). also since Under the Five elements concept, wood is a good component to exhaust earth. But for a truly ugly bad #5, moving metal is a better choice for a #5. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Leon, What you refer to is actually sometimes known as the "Eight-One Combinations". The explanation is that 81 Combinations are fixed detailed description of different combinations as the numbers of the stars comes together. It provides short explanation of the combination effects. For example: MS [8] & WS[6] means Prosperity, good wealth. Geomancy.net Flying star course students, do get a table showing all the meaning of the 81 combinations i.e. 1 with 2 2 with 3 etc.. to 9 with 9 Alternatively, perhaps some authors may have such a table for you. Currently I am very busy, as several new condominiums have TOP such as Gardens @ Bishan and the Maderia and a few more. And many of my clients are trying to finalise their new home layout. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Frankly, this category of Feng Shui is often classified under "Kindergarten Feng Shui". Where we commonly hear: North = water, South = fire etc.. Just a few years ago, I remembered, locally some practitioners were simply practising this type of Feng Shui. Many of them, I heard, have very few business - if any. With more sophisticated consumers; it would be more fruitful to learn more of both Shapes and Forms as well as Compass School Feng Shui. Under Flying Star, instead of a generalised view that north = water, one should follow where the #1 star lands on the 9 grid system. Here, #1 and a combination of it e.g. #4 often leads to prosperity etc... Truly, do make a change, today:) Warmest Regards, Cecil Thank you.

Dear Anon, Most of the time is the location, pedestrian traffic and also the type/value of food. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Angelina, You may seriously consider "flying" to Period 8 for better Feng Shui for your home. However, if this part of the home is your main entrance, you may consider: 1. A real water position to neutralise #7 1 #7. 2. Alternatively a second (less effective) option is to use a blue carpet. Also can I use 6 coins I believe if your home is a NE 2 or 3, than you are faced with MS#2 Base#5 and WS#4. This would be "different" from just having only #3 and #5. With the addition of MS#2 in this equation, seriously, it would be better to consider "moving" metal e.g. a wind chime or a constant chiming clock. To constantly neutralise this "bad" (erh.. rotten) sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil Also can I use 6 coins Angelina

Dear Joey, This is a very good question. Since you encountered such a situation, it is best to: 1. Often, this building does not stand-alone. 2. Do look around at other buildings on the same "row". And where their "main entrance" are located. 3. If it is a shopping complex, usually, there is a "major" entry or lobby vs a smaller side lobby. 4. Check for sun-light/shadow flow. Which facing is blocked by other buildings? 5. Is the building close to the sea? If so, often, we should look closely at the facing towards the sea. 6. At the entrance area, check to see which lobby looks bright (natural brightness). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Patrick, It is good if you can provide a sketch - to take a look. This is because, if you managed to go thru past resources on this forum, you can see examples of homes at culdesac that are good or bad depending on where the home(s) are situated. Warmest Regards, Cecil The Kindly Many thanks! -Pat

Dear Val, Understand that there will be a confusion. In fact, quite recently, there is an earlier forum message seeking clarification of Gua 5 (Kua 5). Please do a SEARCH for the above. The rationale is because when the calculation "hits" Gua 5, it is re-directed to the correct Gua / Kua based on male or female. By-the-way (BTW), therefore " Gua 5 " is actually the centre Gua. And since there are only eight sectors, there is no such thing as an actual centre Gua / Kua 5. Please go to the earlier message and you can find out more. Warmest Regards, Cecil Much

dear Jen, 1. If there is no boundary and the entire piece of land seamlessly looks like merging with the entire area, than, this is far better off! Than, purposely demarcating boundary. Where, it will clearly show as a truly odd shaped piece of land. 2. Generally, we should not be too fearful of odd shaped piece of land. Unless often it affects the drainage of the land. 3. Overall, after reading your note, I do feel sad, not because of your land but the fact that I live in a country that not only must one have a fence but it has to be relatively high or prevent unauthorised people coming into it. 4. In Asia, and especially in Singapore the norm for a landed property home is "detering fences/brick walls" ; in addition it is common to find alarm systems. And yeah! the traditional guard dogs! But the guard dogs are often truly a laughing matter! As many local owners here don't keep dobermans etc... but rather poodles or small pet dogs that barks louder than they ever can bite! More importantly, the landscaping surrounding your own home should be as "rectangular" as possible. This is fair enough. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kesaven, Fortunately, there is no MS #9 or base #9. As this is truly a fire element. You are correct to say that you should use a metal cure, here. And if possible avoid using real water at this location. As water may further fuel the bad #3 wood x 2. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Fiona, Yes, I do agree with your analysis. Under Period 8, if your home has a SE 2 Flying star chart; it is not really a fantastic chart since only the front and back have good numbers. Otherwise, as you had mentioned, majority of the other sectors under SE 2 (P8) needs attention. Therefore, it is like a double edged sword, if the home were to fly to Period 8. No, although there is the pearl string, but you still need to place a cure for star #7 especially at the frontage. However, once this is neutralised; this is fair game:) Do use the alternative door, you mentioned. Warmest Regards, Cecil

I have posted this configuration, before. This is file is in .pdf and shows the "protective" and "prevention" of wealth leak - commonly applied under Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Todd, Congratulations! For a newbie, you did a great job in researching and constructing a Flying Star Chart. 1. Yes, given that Grand Duke is at SW this year, it is indeed a good idea to give up on placing the tub at this sector, here. 2. At South-East sector, quickly: #1 = water #2 bad earth and #4 is wood. Quoting your research: "Lu Qi V2.3 Flying Stars of House - Metal is the cure, as it weakens the Earth and strengthens the Water of the good star 1. Possibly Wood, which fed by Water, controls the aggressive Earth of 2. But no mobile Water, that would activate the bad star 2!" Based on the Five elements concept: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm Yes, I would agree that metal is the cure - since it is the "unifying" or the third element that creates a flow: earth -> metal -> water -> wood However, based strictly on the Five elements concept:- "But no mobile Water, that would activate the bad star 2!" If one looks at the productive sequence of the Five elements concept: water does not activate bad star 2. Also under the destructive sequence of the Five elements concept: water instead of fueling bad star 2 - in fact "draws out or decreases star 2." Given this understanding, I feel that tub can still be at South-East sector. But for the colour of this area avoid: Fire (Red, pink or purple) since it can fuel bad 2. Or avoid Earth (cream, beige or yellow) as this can help increase bad earth. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear A J, Generally, IF the home is a Period 8 home, majority of SE facing homes have favourable Flying Star especially water star 8 at this sector. This is one consideration. Under the Eight House, it is best also to check the eight house influence in the master bedroom. Hopefully it is not you or your partner's disaster or death side. Alternatively, in Feng Shui, there is a possibility of tilting the main door towards a good facing direction. This is said to be "killing two birds" with one stone i.e. no longer face inauspicious direction and changed to a good favourable main door direction. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Patrick, Would it be possible to upload a simple sketch of the home. This is because, if you go thru some of the past postings, some homes can take "advantage" of the cul-de-sac to collect wealth, but others are "hammered" by it. Warmest Regards, Cecil Does this have the same Anyone's Thank

Dear Anon, Yes, sometime back in the 1970's it was very common to purchase boomerangs from Oz. Frankly, I myself had also did decorate my home with a single boomerang and at one time two huge fork and spoons! So far, to me, it seems that they do not remotely look like knifes or swords. Thus I feel it is OK. Warmest Regards, Cecil
