  1. Dear Leon, For landed property, please read thru the link:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Kesaven, Please see below:- I am glad that you find the forum useful. I have always keep the forum messages "alive" since this forum program captured all the messages as far back as 6-7 years ago. And will continue to make the resources freely available to everyone wanting to understand as much as they can. I therefore, appeal to all users to make an effort to use the SEARCH feature in this forum. It is not like searching thru, tons of paper. But rather, for those who have rather lazy or fat fingers, should excercise them! No point have a shapely body figure but fingers are so...so fat! Not proportionate to size. 1. Study the various probable facing direction charts for your home, first. 2. For example, since your original facing direction is NW, under Period 8, NW1, this layout can enjoy the "pearl-string" flying star chart. Do also explore the NW2 and NW3 type of chart. 3. If your door can be properly tilted to North direction, yes, if it is tilted correctly even at the frontage, you can have the North direction influence. 4. Frankly, if you have either limited knowledge, or unable to collectively, combine all concepts, then, please seek professional help. 5. Facing the door to a favourable direction is but one of the many considerations. 6. Shapes and Forms: Equally important, is e.g. the sitting of the toilet(s), bedrooms, even staircase up to the rooms/kitchen etc... are equally important. In your case, I strongly suggest, that you seek professional help. Since, your home has not been constructed, yet. I sincerely, believe this is the most cost-effective method, given that, you may not have covered most of the issues. Or if so, may have limited knowledge. However, if you are confident enough, and if the "commonsense" approach is applied, on the other hand, this is equally acceptable. It is equally important to check and if possible avoid bedroom(s) or common rooms e.g. living room under direct sun-light. For example, with or without Feng Shui, unless, one has being living in the Sahara - and cannot live without this atmosphere, then locating the bedroom under the west location is fine. But for many, who want comfort, sleeping in a cooler room, should do otherwise. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Joji, It is like "sucking on" a baby's comforter. If it makes one more "comfortable", it is ok to hang one. Frankly no harm from it. But don't purposely hang one the size of an ostrich egg. If it falls and hits on one's head, can sure give an amnesia. Else, one may have to place a "HARD HAT" sign for anyone passing thru it. *JOKE* Basically, any material is acceptable (SO LONG) as it is reasonably priced. Better steel if it is cheap! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Niap, Please see below:- Clear space at the frontage is an alternative to having a water position, here. If it is flown to Period 8, in my opinion, it may not be advantages to the male breadwinner as there will be problems if this sector is "uncured". Since there is an imbalance of too much fire x 2 times. Make sure that the room does not have too much wood (especially green) to further inflame it. Introducing earth element is a double edged sword, at this sector since, earth can fuel further bad metal (#7 theft/robbery star). The most effective element is water: Blue, black or grey at this sector. All users please don't simply copy what is the base, mountain, and water star for me analyse - in the future. As it takes much effort to go thru this. This is because, just because I answer this question, I do not expect to be further bombarded with copy-cat type of question, like this. Counter-productive to time. It so happens that, this is late Sunday, here and, I just reply it. Anyway, anyone with sufficient Five elements skills should learn it and apply it, themselves. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Further to what I had mentioned: From an academic (Five Elements concept) point of view: 1. Here, the cloth (if used) should be circle. Since, it represents the Metal element. Much like the "Suntec City" Fountain of Wealth (circle = metal on water). 2. In real-life, an active countermeasure is of course, fire sprinkler on the ceiling of the garage. Since, square shape is the most effective method to cover the garage, Imagine this: it is interesing that fire sprinkler, pipes are in red or painted red. And lets, say we lay the sprinkler pipe in a square shape. It does not only look the same as the square red cloth, but in-fact, in real-life, it can truly safe lives - in an actual fire. 3. Let us not forget, a simple and reasonable priced tool: a smoke sensor strategically placed, would also be good. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Emily, Thank you for sharing with us the information. Please see below:- As much as the danger of a vehicle, catching fire, is in-fact very rare. Unless, (touch-wood) due to arson etc... Also, using this red square fabric, does not help in the event of an earthquake, such as in LA, San F etc... The destructive cycle of the Five Elements suggest using Fire to destroy Metal. So, technically speaking, the logic sounds OK. This is the "BRUCE LEE" style of attack and destroy enemy. Here, Fire is used to control Metal. And square is symbolic of earth (where metal strengthens earth) and fire, contains metal. Alternatively, since Metal supports Water; a hidden blue cloth is akin to the " Jackie Chan " style of using water to draw out the metal. Either way, in my opinion, it is more in the "mind" than Feng Shui. Technically, 3 plants (big or small) represents wood. Thus, under the Five elements concept, Metal destroys or exhausts wood thus, making it weak. In theory, the Five Element concept is used, here. In terms of the hidden square cloth, I personally, do not see the rationale of "hiding it" - becoming effective. Since, this conflicts with the idea that : often, many of the cures, should be physically seen. Here, one might as well, embed it into the flooring. Frankly, since it is hidden, I don't think there is a harm using it. *JOKE* Perhaps, it is interesting to note this question: Why not instead of placing a red square cloth; would NOT a RED CAR do as well? Given the above logic? Therefore, the idea(s) mentioned is based on the Five Elements Logic. As to whether it is/are effective, may perhaps, be directed towards the person placing it. If his/her belief (hope) is strong, then, perhaps, it can strengthen, his/her Man Luck. Else, a person, neutral to the idea or finding it "silly", may feel that it does nothing for him/her. Therefore, perhaps, "IT'S IN THE MIND?" Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Mabel, The key to your "concern" is the centrepoint. The centrepoint or centre of gravity of the home is like the heart of a home. If you really cannot find the centrepoint of your home, you may have to obtain a copy of your layout, glue it onto a cardboard paper. If the home has many indents, cut out the outline. And balance it on a nail or pin to find the centre of gravity or centrepoint. After finding the centrepoint, the easiest is to stand at the location of the home where the centrepoint is suppose to be. Using an ordinary compass, look where the north points to. Here, once you got the orientation of the north, south of your home is behind this etc.... Reference: This is one of my very old resources but, whatever mentioned above, applies:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Therefore, you do not need to be `concerned which corner your neighbour's house face or orientated, to. Simply just concern about your own unit: The saying goes "Mind one's own business:)" One should only be "a mpsey parker" is to see if the neighbours is/are a threat or not. Even better, if one is building a new home: "A home can be a good home. But what distinguishes it being an excellent home is that is able to "suck" wealth from the surrounding neighbourhood. - this amounts to a Quantum Leap" in Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Anon, 1. Yes, based on your description, it would seem that your house has changed to Period 7. Especially, if the shingles were removed, EXPOSING the "skin of the house below". 2. This would be different, if there is a deliberate attempt to remove the shingles, but an entire water/light proof cover is over the roof area. And, no direct sunlight gets to the immediate floor. If so, then, it should be considered as a Period 6 home. 3. Thus, it is best to generate a new report. If yours is a paid report, please privately email to: support@geomancy.net to request a complimentary paid report. Since, this is a geninue misunderstanding. can If you have a rough sketch, it would be great! Usually, under Shapes and Forms School, it would not be ideal to have especially a front door with a hill behind it. For a water position, it would depend on the type of stars found at the back. For example, if there is a double #8 at the back, then, a water position in the form of a water fall is ideal. But if there is only a water star #8, then, a flat water position, is preferable. Sometimes, what looks like the frontage (road leading to the home / street road) may seem to look like it; but on other instances, if one has a living room, patio, at the back of the home, this could instead be the front! of the home (even if at a distance, there is a hill) etc... Therefore, I personally like to caution, just simply describing a home, in sentences. (You know, what I mean) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Anon, Yes, Happy Prosperous New Year! Please see below:- Frankly, I have not checked out the combination of double #4, as I am so used to having automated such mundane tasks. However, under Period 8, #4 is considered as a mixed blessing star. When combined properly with other stars under Period 8, some combinations, can become auspicious. While other combinations, remain inauspicious. If the double #4's combined to become auspicious, than one can remove a metal wind chime. Since, such a strong metal element may destroy the auspicousness of the double wood #4's. If assuming the #4's are bad stars, than, there is no harm to have the wind chime. A water position, if activated properly, with all five elements in it is like a "flow". Much like the recent explanation of how best to activate a water position: using the " Jackie Chan " type of approach. As opposed to the " Bruce Lee's " approach. Please do a SEARCH under this forum for this recent forum message. As it shows the application of the Five Elements concept in setting up a fish tank. Often, if one wants to use the "exact" number of fishes then, a better choice is: 7 goldfish 1 (black) gold fish. Here, 7 represents weak metal. And 1 black fish represents water element. Thus, the probability of 1 of the 7 fishes dying is much higher than the 1 black. Thus, if one of the 7 gold fish dies, this becomes 6 gold fish. Still metal (6 = big metal). Thus, if one is into the number of fishes, the above, is a common approach rather than 6 gold 1 black. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Elizabeth, Under Flying Star Feng Shui: 1. Yes, many Flying Star Feng Shui Schools, often (always) consider the "facing direction". 2. For example, it is often said that under Period 7, a frontage with double 7's are considered very auspicious homes. Similiarly, under 3. Period 6, double 6's are equally auspicious under that period. 4. Therefore, the facing stars have in-fact an overal idea of the type of qi influence on a home/building. 5. This is because, in my opinion; all Flying Star Feng Shui schools consider the "facing direction" as the mouth of the home/building. 6. Thus, like the saying goes " what we get is what we are". Thus, if the qi influence at the frontage is less than ideal, we may get afflicted by issues, described under that particular star influence. 7. As most of us have read, #7 can turn bad into theft/robbery star. 8. This is why, under Period 8, perhaps, if one has the liberty (or luxury) of finding a home, it is good if it has a double 8's at the facing or some other characteristics of a specific chart that can further make the home/building more auspicious. 9. For example, if a house is a NW1 Period 7 home. Here, it would be advatanges for this house to have water at the frontage and mountain support behind it. 10. But, say, the current home has blocked view at the frontage, but open space behind, then perhaps, it is better to change it to a NW1 Period 8 home. Where, this is particularly good if there is a mountain at the facing and water at the sitting position. Please see below:- As mentioned, in the earlier paragraph, and in particular if the home futher does not suit the owners e.g. their death or disaster sectors, often, within 2 to 3 years, fortunes may sway. This is akin to having a fractured arm - even before moving in. Therefore, like taking an exam, it is best to score as much marks as possible in other sectors of the home. Hopefully, the shapes and forms of a home, is OK. (Reasonable shapes and forms.) But if there are added issues such as a toilet at the centrepoint, or at the frontage or any other problem areas, instead of a fractured arm, one may even be on a "wheel" chair environment on the move-in. Frankly, the above is on the basis that everything seems to be "wrong" from a Feng Shui perspective. Usually, a good FS Practitioner, would be able to, "check the odds" and as well as reduce or neutralise as many problems (if applicable). As I mentioned, Shapes and Forms, should be reasonably OK. On the perspective of Flying Star Feng Shui, there are several options, here: 1. Is it more favourable to retain existing Period (for an existing home) 2. For a new home: Is it more beneifical to Fly to the next period? 3. Alternatively, could the door be tilted to a more advantages direction. For example, if one's main door is at North 2 Period 7. But, after a Flying Star assessment, this home seems to be better if the main door is tilted to N1 Period 8 etc... If one is D.I.Y. this is fine. But, usually, a good FS practitioner should be able to give alternatives to their clients. And for the clients to weigh the options, themselves. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Anon, Please see below: Under the Five Elements concept: A STRONG fire person is said to be able to `melt' metal/gold. Thus, this is considered as his/her career related to "wealth" However, for a WEAK fire person, it is said that he/she may not do well unless, the person is in constant contact with Wood element (Since wood will help weak fire, person). The above encapsulate the term "Career with Wealth". Under the Five elements concept, there is another category known as "Career with Power and Authority" as this term suggest, one can attain high position in a career related to this. Since you are a Strong Metal person, career in the field of water is considered as still your "suitable career" (not leading to great wealth or power) but is more beneficial to you if you cannot find a career under "great wealth or power). Therefore, you are right to say that water career is "suitable" for you. Often, when one grows older, many take the route of going for a career that suits us. Since, often, certain careers although may lead to more wealth or power but on the downside may be "taxing" or stressful. Good Luck in your job! Warmest Regards, Cecil I also "Wood gets nurishment I was told (by I don't WATER and Thank you
  12. Dear Maria, Please goto this forum message on the various options to "fly" your home into Period 8. === Quick extract ==== Posted in: Discuss :: Free Advice (General Feng Shui) on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 09:51 AM Dear Anon, Ideally, the favoured change is to have a "major renovation". For example, hacking away the entire flooring or some walls and/or change of main door, or windows is a sure way of `flying' to the new period......... ==== end of partial extract ==== For a NW1 apartment, it is best to see if it is more advantages to fly into the new period. In particular, so far, NW1 homes seems to have quite a lot of problems, especially the last few years.... Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. For quick results, I appreciate if everyone try to make a little more effort to do a SEARCH, first before posting a question. More often, the information, is staring back at you. Simple, effective search includes words like " Period change " or " Period 8 ". I really do not wish to continously, have to do a SEARCH and "cut-paste" the previous messages. The Onus, here is for the reader to do so. Else I will be indaunted with so many questions. Please note that in the future, if anyone posting a question and is not "moderated, or verified" by me - please don't blame me for doing so. It is a waste of everyone's time - in particular, users listening in on the same "old" subject.
  13. Dear Regina, Let your fingers do the walking......to.... Please visit this message:- Posted in: Discuss :: Free Advice (General Feng Shui) on Monday, January 07, 2002 08:06 AM Dear Susan, 1. Attached, please find a graphic illustration of the " rectangular " court-yard + the Chinese (mandarin) character for tree. 2. The two combined is called " KUN " or trapped or imprisoned. 3. This is another aspect of Symbolism in Feng Shui. 4. For such a court-yard, it would be tempting to have some trees in this centre-court yard and thus - one has to be really careful of the implication of it. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee ==== Under this message, one can see a graphic illustration of the word KUN or trapped or imprisoned. Although your home is a U shaped layout, many "Shapes and Forms Practitioners" like Master Lam, you had mentioned, would prefer "clear-space" at the centerpoint. This is because, your questions are often YES or NO type of answer. Can I instead introduce a "lamp post" to the answer? In my opinion, I would prefer that all "guidelines" could fall under:- 1. YES 2. NO 3. PERHAPS (IT DEPENDS) This is because, in a conference, like this, it is never a case of MUST OR DEFINITELY. Often, it depends. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Scott, In case you need to some research paper on temples, perhaps, you can also consider looking for the following two books under Dr Evelyn Lip (a trained architect and lecturer) in libraries: Book 1: Feng Shui for Home Book 2: Chinese Geomancy A Layman's guide Publisher: Times Publishing Both books have good (authentic) references to ancient Chinese as well as some references/pictures of temples. It serves as a starting point to gather good information if you do need to put up a paper on it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Penny, Yes, he is born in 1952. The earliest book written on SM Lee is by Alex Josey. He has written two books on SM Lee:- Josey, Alex, 1910-1986. Lee Kuan Yew / Alex Josey. Singapore : Times Books International, 1980. Josey, Alex, 1910-1986. Lee Kuan Yew : the crucial years / Alex Josey. Singapore : Times Books International, 1980. Perhaps you can try the first book: Lee Kuan Yew. Or check out books written on SM Lee to see if Mr Lee Hisen Loong's birth date has been recorded. Well, give a try, perhaps at the library. Or, try posting a the question on Young Pap forum website at http://www.youngpap.org.sg (Perhaps, you may have to give a "good reason" for asking the question - whether or not you get a reply.... best of luck). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Part II - Further to what I had mentioned, if one open's one's eye, big and wide, one can find that there are even more varied cures in Feng Shui. For example: 1. Use of Lighting ================== In modern times, Feng Shui cures includes the use of lights e.g. some FS practitioners request their clients use 5 bulbs to represent the 5 elements or in some hotels, they ask them to use circular lights e.g. in areas light tea room etc... 2. Drowning bad stars ===================== External Feng Shui is very important. And for those who live in a landed property and provided, if it is feasible, could drown bad stars immediately outside their sector instead of using e.g. metal cures. Here, in some situations, water can be used to drown bad earth stars. In fact, there are many more examples, in this forum, itself - if one search "hard" enough. Wow, frankly, nowadays, questions seems to come in lengths of not only a few centimetres length but looks to me more like at least a foot long on my screen... well, if the question(s) are relevant, I will try to answer them. But do not expect, direct spoon feeding... try to exercise, your fingers.... via search... more... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Regina, Wow, nowadays, questions are very detailed and often comes very long. So goes Part I: (see below) Well, this is frankly a simplistic view of Feng Shui. For example, in the past, I had mentioned what I termed "THE TAI-CHI APPROACH TO FENG SHUI" A glimpse can be found in this "old" resource: Para question: Q2 "a question posted by Oasis". The gist of the information under this resource simply tells us that, if we are unable to use simply : METAL cure, all is not lost. We can instead use all five elements! Or at least 4 elements with the existing bad element. For example, in many of my past messages: I mentioned that if one looked out of the window; and see a lamp post, this is considered a sha qi or poison arrow. Under the Hong Kong style of Feng Shui, this lamp post (can be made of metal or wood) but ulitmately, it is considered as a Wood element (much like a tree trunk) For those who use tunnel vision, may simply bring an axe (METAL) and chop it down! But here, we may go against the law! If this is really the trunk of a tree; if we have an "evil" heart, simply go out and buy a cheap bottle of bleach and pour it onto the tree. It will surely die! But don't get caught doing this! Terms like cutting down has to do with the destructive cycle. This is where, we are looking at "metal cures" since these are correctly called "cures". BUT WAIT A MINUTE! For those who have actually seen Jackie Chan's style of Kung Fu, one will understand that this style is fluid. In a documentary about himself, he had described that he is totally unlike the late Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee's style is direct force, to hit and disable (most likely kill the fella) in one fell sweep! While, hey! Jackie Chan's style is often like `liquid' bending away the attacker's blows by moving away, turning body etc... THE TAI QI OR TAI CHI APPROACH Look at the resource : question 2: Oasis carefully:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/arowanafish.htm Here, one can introduce all five elements or at least the missing 4 elements to create a flow. In the earlier example: If the THREAT is WOOD (lamp post or tree trunk), then under Hong Kong Feng Shui: a fish tank can be introduced where: Water = real water in the tank Goldfish or dragon fish = belongs to the metal element Rectangular fish tank = represents earth element Lighting or pink or red fishes represents fire. Thus, if the threat is WOOD, we can introduce the other "missing" 4 elements to create a flow. Sometimes, we can introduce three elements, or more and it is equally effective. For example, check out what elements the "Suntec City" fountain has e.g. Rings = metal etc... read this from the article. For parents who are at a loss as to "OH one must introduce METAL" could alternatively buy Disney bedsheets etc... here, most likely, these cartoon type of elements have a range of primary colours like red, black / blue and or green! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Anne, 1. To confirm, is the mirror actually facing the main entrance door? 2. How large and how far away is it? Overall, it is still best (if the answer is Yes under Para 1) to move the mirror away. This is the cleanest method. Warmest Regards, Cecil Regards Anne P.S. I
  19. Dear Anthony, Frankly, there is more than meets the eye. If you are doing it on your own, you may have to check for wealth leaks. For example, in general, under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, common wealth leaks include the location of toilets; often the actual layout plan also provides some clue as to the qi distribution (good or bad). Unfortunately, it is near-to-impossible to describe more of Shapes and Forms or even Flying Star situations. Since Shapes and Forms Feng Shui is the easiest to digest for new users, try to start, here, first. If you have a simple sketch and description of rooms, I would be most happy to look at it from a Shapes and Forms point-of-view. In particular, you have mentioned so much of the various entrances but, again, in my mind I literally see a BLANK PAGE (fortunately not see stars) - as blind as a bat, with regards to the entrances. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Joji, Try to go to the reports section and use the free "Comparison report". It will compare both of you and give you two recommended elements for your bedroom to harmonize both room-mates. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Joji, In my opinion, the description of work done does not seem to be a major renovation. However, if you do need a Flying Star report, do email: support@geomancy.net so that I can provide you with a complimentary report. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Part II - Please see below: This one is not Feng Shui but rather has to do with CHINESE ASTROLOGY:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/yearly-forecast/fortunes-2004.htm (Under http://www.lovesigns.net ) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Charles, Given that this is a business premise, you can do an audit for: 1. External =========== Here, one should look at the site, the heart of the building and do a flying star from the middle of the building extending out. Purpose: water position(s), mountain positions and not forgetting shapes and forms FS. 2. Internal =========== If you are only investigating your office, it can be done. I am always open to those who provide a sketch to locate the centrepoint etc... If you have one will be better. Since, I often worry about commenting on descriptive sentences....I rather, not if I can. Hope u understand. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Scott, 1. Wow! Indeed, you have posted a lengthly message. I would have to reply in parts, as and when I can. 2. Under this part I: In my opinion, one has to understand that many actions we take or read-up, has to do more with our minds than our spirit. 3. For example, many (many) students have lived in a boarding house or a rented room and have become prominent people. Even if, the books are aimed at their body or they have a crammed living quarters. Thus, there are two key success factors: 1. Avoid: Too much auto-suggestion 2. Self-fullfilling prophercy 1. Ills of auto-suggestion Some of us feel uncomfortable after reading too many concerns with Feng Shui e.g. crammed room etc... So long as we have a healthy spirit, good physical condition, or Man or Human factors are strong, it can often overcome physical barriers! For example, South African Mandella, was imprisoned for so many years, became president and still have a sane mind. 2. Self-fullfilling prophercy We all aware that if we think too much, it will eventually happen! For good or bad, it is entirely up to us. 3. For a small room It is best not to look at it in-terms of how best we can place our bed or study table, since often, there is only one entry door and often, we may have to share a room etc... Given this issue, the key success is to look at it from a Yin and Yang concept. Here, first look at your study methods or study habits. Some of us, prefer to go to e.g. a quite place out site the room to study e.g. a study corner or study in a group. But, don't one your girl friend and she eye you. Sure to fail ... Often, a dormitory has to fullfil two roles: Yin (for rest) surely one must sleep. Yang: (for study). So long as you can "switch" on and off this role for the room; the better. For example, keep the room tidy. For the bed, keep it cosy. At your work table, often we hear, that try to place all your stationery and books/notes properly. Concentrate more on your exam technique. For example, many people, (including myself) find it very useful to go thru all the past year question papers etc... Worse still, I can still remember, the time I studied in a Primary School (just 8 or 9 years old). My mum told me " try (MUST) sit next to top-students. Not to copy them in exams, but rather, hopefully, perhaps, their intelligence can rub-off to mine...hmm.... But, this is true, because, even when I did post-graduate studies, it is always good to mix with hard working, students. And in-fact, often, make a point to meet each other to go thru class assignments. And during examinations, meeting at specific locations to study. Here, group or peer pressure, seems productive enough. Warmest Regards Cecil
