  1. " Anyway we appreciate much your help and your web site which is not generalist but personalised. We have read a lot about feng shui but most of them are "generalist". For exemple: You have to have a tank with 9 fishes". They don't try to see if you are weak fire or weak wood for example. " - Muriel Saban
  2. " Thank you very very much for your very prompt reply.I am so addicted to your site now that I spend around 2-3 hrs daily on it, catching up on the conferences. It is extremely useful for someone wanting to learn Feng Shui. Just a month ago I had paid an exorbitant amount to learn 8 mansions from a teacher from Malaysia. But the knowledge that I have gathered from your site in the past one month is definitely many times more useful, especially more so since I get my doubts cleared by your team when required and promptly too. Thank you once again for this truly unbelievable site. 8. Dear Anon, 1. So far, I do not see any issue relating to the type of floor pattern used e.g. in the kitchen. 2. In my opinion, just about any "normal" design laid tiles. For example from plain pattern to checked are perfectly ok. 3. The more concern is on Yin and Yang. For example, if the house is long and narrow e.g. North-South alignment; and if there are no windows on the East or West, this can be quite dark - particularly in the kitchen. 4. Thus, for such a situation, it is advisable not to use e.g. dark or black tiles. 5. Nowadays, when I review or do audits for my clients, I do get to see units that are of this configuration. 6. For example, this condominium was designed by French designers and maybe, they feel that black gives a touch of `class'. 7. And yes, the entire kitchen floor of this condo is black e.g. black granite (fortunately, the walls are light colours). 8. I personally feel that light colours are much better for condos since there are various units facing different directions. And many units that have little or no light filtering in (especially in the afternoon/evening) is not conducive to Yin and Yang. For the kitchen, one should not make it too Yin or place of rest. Rather, it should have more Yang or activity. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Hoa Luong, No, (no) - Ba Gua mirrors must not be used indoors. Never in one's own home. At staircase landings, one MAY place a mirror e.g. flat rectangular (normal type) mirror here. This is NOT COMPULSORY. One must NEVER place Ba Gua mirrors within the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  11. The Nigerian Advance Fee Fraud In a survey conducted on the type of scams on the internet, the most popular ones are those that try to `depart' our hard earned money. The most popular and well know ones sound something like this:- --- Con artist at work --- From: beatrice zongo Subject: urgent assistance Date: Thu, 28 Feb 2002 09:58:12 +0000 (GMT) Dear Sir, I am writing you with the greatest delight and personal respect through your contact which I got from your countrys chamber of commerce and industry. I am madam Beatrice Zongo the wife of the late Dr Michael Zongo the then former financial adviser to the ex-Sierra-Leonine Military head of state who was killed when the regime was overthrown by the West African Peace keeping force(ECOMOG). I am presently living in republic of Cote d?Ivoire with my son and Daughter after escaping from home with the help of a fisherman who ferried us out to Abidjan Cote d' Ivoire. My husband has US$22Million in an international bank here in Ivory Coast. This money was paid from the contract awarded to him by the former Government of Sierra Leone. Since the present Government declared that all the assets of supporters of the former Government of Major John P. Koroma should be frozen, therefore I need your assistance to claim this money out from the Bank and transferred to any account you may be interested to nominate. Having contacted a reputable international lawyer here in Abidjan to help us out, He will be Paid 0.1% of the total sum for his service after the transfer. Here a top personal at the bank has advised us to seek in confidence any reliable person or firm whom we could trust and transfer this money into his account for further investment since our bread winner is dead. Secondly, we may end up losing the entire fund if we apply for the payment in our name. This is a business I want both of us to handle and it remains top secret since our future Depends on this fund. We are prepared to compensate you with 10% of the total sum while 5% will be for expenses you may incur during the process of transfer is over. If you are capable of assisting us , send the following information which would enable the Attorney to Write a letter of claim in your name , That your name, full address, telephone/fax numbers respectively. Do not hesitate to reach me with the above e-mail, As soon as I receive your positive response, I will give you more details as regards the transaction. Awaiting for your kind response. Madam Beatrice Zong ---------
  12. Dear Everyone, 1. Ba Gua mirrors should be checked every six months to a year for `fading' damage e.g. cracks, peeling. Normally, it should be replaced each year (if it is directly under the weather without protection). Sometimes, it would last up to two years or more. 2. When and How to replace the old Ba Gua mirror? 2.1 Usually, it can be replaced any day. But if one wants to select an auspicious date to remove/replace a Ba Gua mirror is usually on the 1st day or 15th day of any Lunar Month. (With the EXCEPTION of the 7th MONTH.) 2.2 To throw away, the old Ba Gua mirror, you can wrap it up in a used newspaper and carefully throw it away in an external dustbin. 2.3 Sometimes, red string can be used to tie it up after wraping it and the used Ba Gua mirror thrown away in the external dustbin. 3. All Ba Gua mirrors should not face inwards into the house. But e.g. placed above a main entrance door or a window away from the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Everyone, Some candidates for the use of Concave mirror are:- 1. In the sample picture (see attached) - where there is a post slicing the main entrance, it can be a candidate for the use of a concave mirror. (Picture, courtesy of Ben's earlier posting to the forum - Thanks Ben - hope u don't mind using the picture as a valuable learning tool!). A concave mirror is used to ABSORB negative qi. While a convex mirror is used to deflect negative qi. A convex mirror when used in close promixity of one's own house is like " friendly fire killing one's self ". For example, when a convex mirror is used, it can deflect back Sha Qi from the pillar back towards the house. Contrast this with concave mirror where it will absorb `sha qi'. Since this is a wooden post, the easiest cure is to use a 6 rod windchime as first choice. The constant banging of metal is good to neutralise the beam. In addition, metal is more of a stable cure as it can help to neutralise other bad elements and cure house defects. Second choice is the use of fire element to "destroy or burn" the wooden post. The last alternative choice is to use a concave mirror. 2. Refer to attached picture: House surrounded by all roads:- Another candidate for the use of a concave mirror is where one's house on all four sides is surrounded by roads. Here, there is malignant forces all round the house. And a concave mirror is often used to `ward off evil or bad luck'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Ben and everyone, 1. Using your question as an example on the use of the concave mirror. 2. In my opinion, it is felt that there are two views on the use of concave mirror: a. Use of it for sha qi. b. Use for evil spirits. 3. Under Para 1, normally, a windchime would be useful to negate the pillar. 4. An example of how the concave mirror CAN be used is if the object is within our home such as the pillar as mentioned by Ben. 5. Using a convex mirror to deflect Sha qi may inadvertenly bounce it back (on the pillar towards the house). 6. Thus, in such close proximity (under "friendly line of fire) it is best to use e.g. the CONCAVE type of mirror to ABSORB the sha qi. Such as the reflection of the pillar is captured on the concave mirror. 7. This is one sample of how, the CONCAVE mirror can be used. 8. Like war, we do not want to have `friendly forces' firing at their own people. On the other hand, convex mirror is used as an offensive to fire at `enemy' lines. 9. However, it is best to seek competent advise with regards to the concave mirror. And not use the above stereo type answer and apply it immediately in such homes. The above serves as an EXAMPLE only. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Hoa Luong, 1. As a follow-up, this morning, I visited some local shops and purchased no less than 8 Ba Gua mirrors. 2. I got 3 from one shop and another 5 more from another shop. I think, the second shop keeper must have thought that I was "MAD" since no one had purchased or tried purchasing that many Ba Guas on a single occasion in their life! (Including mine) 3. Just for info, when I displayed so many Ba Gua mirrors to take photos at... my camera smart media "got error". For quite sometime. And for fear of being too Yang.. I covered them up immediately. Do not want to create so many negative Qi. Imagine 8 X Ba Gua mirrors is a rather " FIERCE " thing to do. 4. Out of curiosity, I "tested" the shop keeper's knowledge or `advise' on what type to buy. Frankly, the two shop keepers, cannot really `recommend' the various type. And the first shop which I bought the concave mirror - could not explain the use of it. I quickly took the photos and kept them and store them away! I personally feel that those who sell the items should try to be more knowledgeable. Nevertheless, I have added the various pictures under the conferene "Photo Tours of Interest (with Pictures) conference. Feel free to login to the forum and view the three Parts i.e. Part I, II and III. Showing the different kinds of Ba Gua mirrors. Generally, all Ba Gua mirrors fall under one of the above categories. Please see below:- As mentioned above, you can hang the Models A to D. As a last result you can hang models E to F (with the Fu dogs for protection) if you cannot really find the Models A to D. But I would recommend A to D types for you. For the CONCAVE type, I would not recommend. For me, if my clients really need to hang the CONCAVE type, I would need to be personally around to check and confirm if this type / the size to use. Else, don't use this type as it absorbs rather than deflect the mirrors. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Frank, 1. If one is using an ordinary compass, the readings are taken from the centre-point of the house to the main entrance door. 2. For those who use a Luopan, then takes a reading from the main entrance door. The Luopan has a `sitting and facing direction'. And the reading thus will show the `sitting' direction. 3. In my opinion, the most accurate reading with an ordinary compass is from the centre-point of the house to the main entrance. 4. If you need further clarifications or confirmation, feel free to fax your layout plan to me at 065 - 6482 0570 with a return fax number or email address so that I can confirm the centre-point. 5. If you need to change the compass direction on your report, please e-mail us privately and let us know the change to your main entrance door direction so that we can update the information for you to regenerate a new report. Warmest Regards, Cecil Good Day With Regards Frankie
  17. Dear Anon, If your compass direction falls between: 217.5 to 232.4 degrees then treat this as 225 degrees which is SW2 For others: 202.5 to 217.4 degrees then treat this as 210 degrees or SW1 etc... Therefore, in your case, you should treat it as SW2 since it falls under 217.5 and 232.4 degrees. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. 1. As mentioned in the earlier Part I and II, it is best to use mirrors based on Part I or Model A, B, C or D types. 2. You can, as an alternative use Type E and F. Which is more for "protection e.g. against evil forces". However, it can still be used but Model A to D are preferred if there is any Sha Qi or poison arrows aimed at the home. 3. Model D types are for e.g. Christians or RCs who may be "sensitive" to using the First Heaven Sequence Trigram type of mirrors. 4. Under Part III - I introduce you to the CONCAVE type of mirror. Note: Convex mirrors are meant to DEFLECT sha ai. Concave mirrors are used to ABSORB sha qi e.g. evil spirits etc.. 5. Thus, if one is using a concave mirror, it is best to consult a reliable FS practitioner. As it is much safer to DEFLECT than absorb sha qi. Thus use the concave type of mirror with caution. 6. Lastly, there are the Ba Gua mirror with Door Gods. This type is meant to be used for protection. On many Chinese Temples, you often see the two door gods, one on the left and one on the right of the door god. 7. Some people place two Ba Gua mirrors as shown in the picture above each door (two doors) of their main doors. Others, simply place one mirror alone. 8. Please note that I like to emphaise that I am not a "fan" of Ba Gua mirror - but if there are really no feasible alternatives; then, it is felt that they can be used. This is in line with many Traditional Feng Shui practitioners locally and in Asia. Discounting those practititioners who grew up or practised in the West who may not be as receptive to the use of Ba Gua mirrors. This group may simply denounce the use of the Ba Gua mirror. But as mentioend earlier, even in Singapore, if you go around neighbourhoods of public housing, one can often see them either on public housing and even above industrial building units. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. 1. This category of Ba Gua mirrors have the Fu Dogs as protection. 2. Sometimes, the owners may not have Fu Dogs on both sides of their premises and they like to feel comfortable with Fu Dogs. 3. Notice that the Model E & F Ba Guas in the picture with Fu Dog in the centre of the Ba Gua " clench' or bite on to two swords. 3. It has to do with the real figurines where some of these Fu Dogs bite on a sword each. I have also taken pictures of figurines of statues of Fu Dogs with the sword in this attachment. Overall, this category of Ba Gua mirrors are is used more for "protection" e.g. against evil spirits RATHER than to deflect Sha Qi or poison arrows. It is preferred to use the Basic Types e.g. Model A, B , C or D to deflect Sha Qi. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Note: All Ba Gua mirrors are not to be used facing in-wards. IT MUST be used e.g. above a door facing outwards. Attached, please find pictures of various type of Ba Gua mirrors:- Please refer to the attached picture file: basic-baguamirrors.jpg :- MODEL A - Traditional Ba Gua with flat mirror Description: 1. This type of mirror has a Traditional Green & Red Ba Gua mirror. 2. It has a flat mirror in the centre. Flat mirror is meant for general purpose protection. 3. It has the First Heaven Sequence Ba Gua Trigram formation. MODEL B - Modern' Ba Gua with convex mirror. Description: 1. This type of mirror uses YELLOW background. Yellow is the colour usually used for Chinese charms. 2. This mirror is convex to deflect Sha Qi. Note: There are flat ones which are similar. There are also concave ones, which is used to absorb Sha Qi. This type of mirror, should only be used on specific advise. As it "absorbs" and not deflect Sha Qi. 3. It also uses the First Heaven Sequence Trigram Formation. C. Ba Gua Mirror with a Yin and Yang Symbol Description: It is similar in all aspects to Model A and B. With the exception that it does not have a mirror at the centre. This type of ba gua mirror is less commonly preferred as it does not have a mirror to deflect Sha Qi. Considered `less effective'. Model D. Circular Convex Mirror Description: This mirror is a basic mirror. In this model, it comes with a nice (auspicious RED ream). Otherwise, any plain flat or concave mirror serves the same purpose. This type of mirror is used like all other three models A, B and C to deflect Sha Qi (when their mirrors are either flat or convex type). Or if one's door is facing another unit. And if that particular owner placed a Ba Gua mirror, the neighbour would retaliate "in a Ba Gua war " by placing this type of mirror to deflect back to the neighbour. In a no-win or lose-lose situation. The advantage of Model D is more for e.g. Catholics who may be too concerned with placing Ba Gua mirrors with the First Heaven Sequence. But rather plan mirrors may appeal better. Overall, the above four Models A, B, C and D are similar. And can be generally classified as " Basic / Traditional type of mirrors". The least offensive is the Model D convex or any flat circular type of mirrors. We will look at concave mirrors under Part III (later on). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Everyone, Overall, here are some guidelines on the Ba Gua mirror:- 1. Plain Ba Gua mirrors that are either flat or convex. These are usually used to deflect Sha Qi. E.g. a flat where the main entrance door is in the direct path of a corridor and facing e.g. lift door etc... 2. Ba Gua with the First Heaven Sequence trigram on it and a centre (flat mirror) You can refer to the "First Heaven Sequence" formation under this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-pakua.htm 3. This type of Ba Gua mirror is often used e.g. against a `T' junction. 4. For those who especially engage a Feng Shui practitioner who has religious inclination, many of whom would recommend the Ba Gua mirror and placement of a " charm " or yellow piece of charm. 5. Nowadays, from what I understand from Ben, who had purchased a `yellow' Ba Gua mirror and used it, the YELLOW on the Ba Gua usually connotates e.g. a charm. 6. And after evaluating it, I feel that it can be used for both Sha Qi e.g. T junction and `to ward off evil'. 7. There are other Ba gua mirrors: Such as those which includes the two door gods. It is more of a protective ba gua mirror. 7. Please note that there are many Feng Shui practitioners especially those who practise in e.g. US, do not believe in the use of the Ba Gua mirror. Therefore, some of these practitioners may denouce what is said here (in the context) of the Ba Gua mirror. 8. I am not exactly a `lover' of Ba Gua mirrors but in my opinion, especially mirrors can be used against `T-junction' and Sha Qi. For example, such as a neighbour directly opposite has a Thai worship alter that faces one's main entrance. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Dear Everyone, If you can spare the time and effort to purchase a Ba Gua Mirror, take a picture of it; I will be eternally grateful if you can share with us a picture of it. I can help to look at it and provide comments on their useability. This would help greatly, those who are in need of purchasing a mirror. And not sure if it will work. Thanks in advance! Cecil
  23. Dear Hoa Luong, I try to go down to the nearest neighourhood local stores today if I can. If not by next week to try to find and purchase the various types of Ba Gua mirror. So that I can take a picture each. And provide some description on their use. Hope you can bear with me on this. I will get back to you once I purchased the various kinds. Nowadays, there are many " versions " around especially made by various companies. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Donna, In my opinion, it is very difficult for me to comment on the sector(s) based on " wealth and prosperity sector ". As, this has no relation to Traditional Feng Shui. However, here are my comments on a barbeque area:- 1. Frontage of the house - avoid if possible any placement of a barbeque pit at the frontage of the house (especially in-front of the main door and along the frontage (if possible). 2. Otherwise, if you have a barbeque area, it is best to have it at the side (away from the house). 3. If the barbeque pit is placed on the side try to place it side-ways (along the outline of the fence perimeter). To help understand what I mean, please see attached picture. (Note: For those who had subscribed thru the mailing list - it is not attached - have to log-in to the website forum to view the file) Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. This is no problem as one of the purpose of having a moderated forum is that I am able to review all messages before they have posted in. I have already deleted that "message":)
  25. Dear Ben, Thank you for your words of encouragements. I am glad that you enjoyed this site and most of all, find the information useful. With regards to the interesting information you had provided on high vaulted/sloped ceiling:- 1. In my opinion, the higher the ceiling the better:) 2. Usually, based on my findings or FS audits done both locally and internationally : In fact, the bulk of users in this forum is from United States. 3. From my personal experience, vaulted ceilings especially those which used wooden cross beams even if they are `tightly packed' or tightly spaced out -- it seems to me of `minimum threat'. 4. Or that you are aware that to me this is "secondary" or `peanuts' to the greater picture of Feng Shui. In my opinion, it is of relatively no issue. 5. Even on the issue of slanted roofs. To be frank and honest - I have lots of clients locally who live in landed properties. And the most cost effective is slopping ceilings especially in the living room area where there are also high ceilings. I do not find any problems. 6. Even some of these millionaires also have been sleeping in bedrooms with slopping roofs. 7. Therefore, based on my personal dealings with many of such clients, I have not seen problems e.g. relating to finance, or otherwise as what we may have often read in various books about vaulted ceilings or slopping ceilings. Correct me if I am wrong. 8. I personally feel that we should put weightings and priorities on each item or `problem'. 9. I believe, sloping ceilings may in-fact be better because, rather than have false ceiling which may retain heat etc.. In my opinion, I feel that Qi flow is better with more open space area especially between the roof and the space below. Thanks for sharing with all of us your personal observations. In fact, even for me, learning never stops. And it is great to have honest and constant feedback. Here, we try to understand and nothing is ever completely `right'. Let's continue to apply good practices that can benefit everyone. And discard the `bad'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
