Dear Ben, Thank you for your frank suggestion. 1. At this time, we have no intention yet to sell any Feng Shui products. 2. The reason being we want to focus more providing learning resources and quality consultation services both Free and paid. 3. Despite the fact that selling Feng Shui products can be lucrative. A. 6 coins - where 6 represents big metal and the coins themselves are of the metal element. For using `wood' as a cure; it is less `clear' as to what one can use. In my opinion, for a "wood cure", I found that one pot of plant is sufficent to cure a sector that requires a wood cure. Dear Hoa Luong, Please note that Chinese Astrology books usually provide you the element based on Year of birth. For example, if a child is due or born on or after 12 February 2002; i.e. if the child is born on 13 March 2002; then he/she is considered as born under the Year of the FIRE Horse. Pillars of Destiny not only consider just the YEAR of birth. A simple Pillars of Destiny chart also consider a person's MONTH, DAY & TIME of Birth. Here, for example, the month could be water element; Day - wood element etc... and If one understands carefully each `pillar' i.e. Year, Month, Day and Time of birth has what is known as heavenly stem and earthly branch. And as mentioned above, in a simple Pillars of Destiny chart: there are already 8 variables to look at. Not just Year = Fire etc... Please continue to read my reason for not applying Time Zone at Geomancy.Net. The use of Time Zone is not a traditional approach to calculating ba zi. (ie. add the GMT changes to the hour of birth, this concept is a new concept by some modern Feng Shui practitioners - perhaps to impress on others.) There is only 1 traditional teaching on applying location factor, and that is to apply the location factor (long, lat) of the exact position when you are born to the lunar moon location. This is a complicated process for calculating and also for the people who are going to use it. At Geomancy.Net we decided not to apply any changes because of the following factors. 1. How many people knows exactly the long & lat of where they are born exactly? Many people don't even know the hour of birth let alone the long & lat of birth. So if you don't know the EXACT long & lat, one slight change in 1 degree of any of the angle, will result in a even more in accurate analysis of your birth chart. Coz, a single degree of inaccurate can result in different hour pillar (or worst it might change your day pillar). 2. Any Four Pillars analysis (if they use GMT Timezone conversion) will again not be accurate because the GMT Timezone only use one factor of the location. And now in recent times several countries have adjusted their time zones e.g. by 1/2 an hour to an hour or more. 3. Next, this involves the fact about knowing how ba zi works. If one knows how ba zi really works; one would be aware that even if one does not have the hour of birth it does not really matter. 4. What is the rationale for this? 4.1 With Hour of birth, you will get an additional House of Life (Advanced Pillar). So all in all you have 4 pillars and 2 additional Advance Pillars (this results in better determination of the element strength). 4.1.1 Usually most people who basic 4 pillars are already weak or strong usually will not have much changes with the additional pillars unless that additional pillars really affect the overall chart (particularly the house of Life). This is quite rare, but we do find some people with such a change. 4.1.2 And with the additional pillars, what you can get is just further details of the chart itself. (Otherwise, if the birth element strength does not change at all, it. weak wood is still a weak wood despite having all the additional pillars) There will be absolutely no impact on the final luck pillar reading. 4.1.3 Thus, even if you exclude the Hour of Pillar entirely, it does not really matter much to the final analysis, only affects the determinating of your birth element whether weak or strong. 4.1.4 Let us be realistic: not many people have a clue about their hour of birth; and even if they included their time of birth - there is a high chance that the time may be inaccurate. And this is an accepted fact. 4.2.5 If one has lived a full life; a Professional Ba Zi consultant can actually input only three variables i.e. Year, Month & Day of birth. And, work backwards to find one's Time of birth (based on the two hourly time intervals of Chinese hour. 4.1.6 Therefore the existence of the Hour Pillar is considered Optional (best if you know it, but not a really necessity if you don't know it.) 4.2 A Chinese HOUR pillar actually equates 2 hour. This means that there is already a 2 hour level of inaccuracy involved. This means that even if you are 1 minute apart it will not affect the reading much unless your 1 minute is in the boundary of 2 different hours. 4.3 But when you apply the location factor, it can shift this hour pillar a lot so that there may be a great change in the hour pillar details. Therefore, I mentioned if you do it wrongly or you miss enter your Location factor, it will cause more inaccuracy than making it more accurate. 4.4 The Luck Pillars is calculated from the Month Pillar, so whether or not the hour pillar is there or not, it does not make a difference in the Luck Pillar analysis. 5. Therefore, because we have looked at it carefully and felt that there is really no need to include the " GMT " time factor - which in-fact would create more inaccuracies. Warmest Regards Cecil

Dear Becky, 1. Yes, you brought up a good point. Often, you will see Feng Shui practitioners analysing a birth chart of a house. This sample report gives a comparison of e.g. husband (strong metal) and wife (weak wood). The binding elements to get the two parties to be compatible or reduce conflict is Water element. 4. Thus, this is known as the `binding' element. And it is recommended that for the bedroom of the two persons; we can use the binding element of water. And if they own the house, they can do with more of this element especially in the bedroom area. 5. The same goes for comparision of the binding element for two children staying in the same bedroom. 6. For example, if both a person's son (Weak wood) and daughter (strong earth) are staying in the same room; the binding element is wood element. 7. In my on-line and offsite audits; I have a table drawn of the combination of binding elements between two parties e.g. - Husband & Wife = binding element = wood (Strong Earth vs Weak Wood) - Husband & son - Husband & daugther - Wife a& son - Wife & daugther 8. Such an analysis also tells whether which family member gets along very well with each other or whether, some effort is needed (incompatbile issues) etc... 9. Thus as you have mentioned, the binding element concept is the key to `bind' e.g. the husband and wife. 10. Therefore, in Feng Shui or Pillars of Destiny; it is not so simple as buying an object and placing it at a sector e.g. South-West (romance sector). 11. If one really understands or want to use Traditional methods; it is certainly not the "instant coffee" type of approach. 12. As you can see; most of the time; whatever questions we have would have been `anticipated' or thought about carefully. Especially if both Feng Shui and Pillars of Destiny has been taken seriously. For example, please see attached picture which I had specially commissioned i.e. a painting of Nine dragons (5 claw type) dragon. (Please note, that if you are listening in thru a mailing list or using a newsgroup agent to participate; you cannot see the attachment). All pictures in the forum can only be viewed thru the logon to the website forum). This painting was designed such that there is a central dragon at the centre `blowing' Qi. This painting sits on a wall over looking the sliding doors. And in the morning when I open the sliding panels; the dragon is said to be able to move or flow of it's qi move out of the house. One reason for this specially commissioned painting is because, even though my house has double 7's; there is a lone lamp post slicing thru the sliding area. If you notice carefully also, the author or painter had " refused " to sign on this special commisioned canvas - fear of repercussions on himself. 3. Therefore, hope you can further describe what direction your dragon painting is facing; how many claws it has and what other background objects or other dragons (if any). Best still if you can have a picture taken; so that I can help you look at it further. 4. Otherwise, do take note that the head of dragon should be allowed to face e.g. a window or an opening (for space). It should not be facing inwards into the house. Under Compass School Feng Shui; (especially Flying Star Feng Shui) one can either take readings based on the building or an individual apartment like your house. 2. However, under the Eight House Theory or East/West Group of persons; usually the orientation is taken from the centre-point of your individual apartment to the main entrance door. 3. Please note that the above method(s) are based on the use of an ordinary compass. 5. In Feng Shui, if one knows how to use the Chinese Luopan; the readings is based on the `sitting' position and facing (frontage) of the house. As you have mentioned, it could be the main entrance or the location where the windows at the frontage are. But usually, this is done (best) by a competent FS practitioner. If you are using method (Para 5). 6. Otherwise, you should follow the advice mentioned under Para 3 (above). 7. Yes, it is considered inauspicious for the main entrance door to face the bathroom. Yes you can place a partition or screen. The screen need not necessarily be of full height. If you place a tall piece of furniture, it should be as tall as the height of the toilet door. Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, it is crucial to analyse not only the house but also do a general survey of the site where the house is situated. 2. This is because, many times, we forget about the external environment. It is like doing up a wonderful house to come home to. But everything else outside of the house may be "crumbling". This may be an extreme interpretation, but the interior of the house is just one of the many aspects of good Feng Shui assessment. 3. Sometimes, simple things like standing at the front of the main door and looking out to check for poison arrows. And in turn, stand at each window and look out of the house to check for poison arrow(s). Poison arrow(s) can be in the form of a lone lamp post, a pointed neighbour's roof etc... Here, it is like a `leak'. For example, if we are on a boat today; and if there is a leak, we should spent our time to fix this leak. And not try to beautify ourselves in the boat. Dear Anon, Please see below:- Usually one should use 6 coins tied with a red string for this sector - East. But in year 2002 i.e. starting from 12 February 2002; there is a #5 at this sector. And if so, the 6 coins may not be able to handle it that well. Here, "moving metal" is advise: Either: 1. The `tick-tock' of a brass pendulum clock of a `real grandfather clock'. Caution: Not those cheap imitation grand father clock where the pendulum is made of plastic and spray painted with metallic colour. OR 2. A metal clock with metallic components or springs inside it which makes `tick-tock' sounds 2. Use a 6 rod metal wind-chime. Here, it is preferred that there should be movement of frequent `strong' air. A gentle breeze would not be able to activate the `cling' of the wind chime and may not be effective. Yes, if the room is properly cured or neutralised using the relevant Flying Star cure; anyone can then stay in the room afterwards. For a female child born between 27 Jan 1990 to 14 Feb 1991 - the most ideal house is the North-East house. And east is her `irritation' sector. Not ideal but, still ok to stay in the room. Dear Hoa Luong, 1. Thank you for your description of the two rooms. 2. Under Ba Zi Feng Shui, the better room would still be at the West. As west is represented by the metal element as you are a weak water person. Your second best favourable sector is North. 3. Overall, it is secondary or minor concern if any on where your kitchen/garage dinning room etc.. is in relation to the room you are choosing for your office. So long as the Flying Star of the house is looked at and imbalances cured, this is not much of an issue. 4. For the room in the west, my only concern here is the afternoon sun. If the walls of the room is heated say around afternoon to around 5.00pm and if say it makes the room uncomfortable e.g. hot, then, my suggestion would to take the North/NE sector room instead. Dear Margie, A rectangular bedroom is good. Please see below:- You may still have the bed face the door. But avoid the `coffin position' where one's feet directly faces the bedroom door. This is where the whole body is parallel with the wall and when one enters the bedroom door, see the entire peron's feet and body in a straight line. Otherwise, it is still acceptable for the bed to be facing the bedroom door. It should be that our head should be able to look at the bedroom door and see who is coming in. Dear Chee Kin, 1. Under the Eight House theory, there is not much one can do. This theory is meant more for the time where one is chosing a house. And when doing so, it is used to look at how sutiable the house is and also help us see if the various rooms are suitable. 2. Usually, if one has constant problems such as frequent health problems; perhaps, you may like to look at the use of another theory: The Flying Star theory. While the Eight House Theory looks at individuals or a person's best houses/direction. The Flying Star looks at the birth chart of the house to see if the sectors are balanced. It is good for:- a. If one has constant health related problems; it most likely mean that the specific sector is out of balanced and need a cure. b. You mentioned that your bedroom (or what I seem to understand) could be at the South-West of the house. SW is considered the devil's back-door. And under the Flying Star, it can help to diagnose whether that particular sector is too yin or if there are high concentration of `yin stars' found here. If so, this should be cured. Dear Chris, Overall, the toilet sha qi is in the way of your office and home. To be honest, there is not much one can do here other than to e.g. move out of the office. (Especially the office space). Using mirrors can be a double-edged sword. If the sector happens to be a bad sector; it may bounce back twice the bad luck. And at the moment, if you are not sure of the effects, try not to make it `worse' - should the mirrors inadvertenly bounce back twice the bad luck. Overall, if there is some cure, I would be most happy to share with you but as you are aware, it demands something `physical' such as relocating the toilet or if this is not possible, moving out at the soonest opportunity. There is really no miracle cure for this. If you can or allowed to, for the office, you may try to place a Ba Gua mirror at the office door facing the toilet. In Singapore, I can name some office spaces e.g. Fortune Centre, where a row of offices faced the toilets. This is bad Feng Shui. And not NNE which is the entrance of the building. Please note that the Eight House Theory is meant more to find out how suitable the house is to you and your family members. And it is good if one spents time at that sector. Especially if the sector is the bedroom. The Eight House theory is about people living in the house. The Flying Star can be used to check on the birth chart of the house and find out and neutralise what's wrong with the house. And the Flying Star is about examining and fixing the imbalances in the house and increasing Qi. It is good to use the Eight House and Flying star rather than go buy a dragon. In Feng Shui, if there is a `leak' we go and fix the leak. We do not go and beautify ourselves without regard to the external environment. I am afraid, Feng Shui involves a holistic approach using the following main theories: Earth Luck: Shapes and Forms Eight House Flying Star Ba Zi Feng Shui In order to properly diagnose or fix the problems, the above are mostly used effectively. Often, we may have the wrong idea that buying this figurine or that figurine will work wonders. This type of hocus pocus Feng Shui or "paying homage " to a sector can only be found in books. And not real life solutions. Therefore, do fix the leak first. How to? thru holistic Feng Shui. Which unfortunately is not like `instant coffee'. It involves various investigations and fixes on the various leaks in the home etc... Under Shapes and Form Feng Shui, I noticed that in your bedroom; the door opens to immediately face the bed. Maybe you should consider changing the bed to the location of your TV cabinet area. This is a better position under shapes and form Feng Shui. For any theory or concept: What is the aim or purpose of the concept? b. What is it's strength c. What is it's weakness 2. By understanding each concept's aim or purpose; strenght and weakness; we can thenn understand what it can be used for and what are it's limitations. 3. For example, when we are considering purchasing a car. It would be fine if we purchase a two door 2 or 4 seater car for an individual's use. 4. But if one has a large family; it would be wise to (if one can afford) purchase a mini-personal carrier that can seat 8 persons comfortably. 5. Therefore, taking a parallel, the Eight House Theory is good e.g. when we first try to buy a new house and see how well each family member can fit into the layout of the house. 6. Therefore, it is how we can FIT IN to the scheme of the layout. Not otherwise unless we demolish the entire house and rebuilt it try to fit the entire family. 7. Therefore, if we consider the Eight House Theory, if this is the spook sector, then not much can be done under this theory unless there is a change in the bedroom. 8. If there are water or yin stars at this sector, under Flying Star; one can introduce - more yang into the bedroom i.e. repainting the room based on a suitable colour under your son's Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny). 1. It is good to use the three-step approach here. 2. For the Flying Star theory, it is about analysing and recommending a cure for that sector of the birth chart of the house. 3. Thus if #2 and #3 are cured; for the house chart; then, anyone can stay in that bedroom. 4. Do take note that for children, if possible try to avoid rooms at North-East or South-West sectors. NE (devil's main gate) and SW (devil's back door). 5. I once audit a couple's home with two children who has the main entrance door at NE and the two children were sleeping in the South-West room. 6. After analysing the children and mother's Ba Zi; they were all of the `weak elements'. I also noticed that both NE and SW had high concentration of YIN sectors. 7. I queried the family whether they had seen any activity in their children's bedroom. The mother said thad she and the two children indeed often, seen a `small boy' climbing and spending time at this bedroom. 8. I had advised her to place a dragoon figurine facing out of the window directly aimed at the SW direction of the house. And for the main entrance, another dragon aimed at the main entrance door. Dear Ben, Please see below:- Yes, the 6 coins or `big metal' is sufficient to counter the 20-year, yearly and monthly #4 star. If you have a swinging brass pendulum, it is good to use it here. This is a better alternative than say 6 rod metal windchime because, such a `heavy' windchime may not necesarily make any noise (if the windows are closed). It is ok to use minature Jade plants. But try not to use 2 or 3 or 4 or 5. As 2 represents #2 sickness star. 3 or 4 represents bad wood. Five as you are aware represents the misfortune. You may have to place the other Jade plant elsewhere i.e. place only one plant at that sector. Do remember that symbolism is important in Feng Shui and 2 x jade plants - symbolic of sickness (2 star) Overall, a Jade plant is OK. Usually, plants that have thorns or cactus should not be used. As for bonsai, most of the plants that were turned into bonsai plants from plants such as `jasmine' needs plenty of sun-light. They need not necessarily be `stunned' growth. Dear Mohamad, 1. Frankly, numbers or numerology does not play a signifiant role in Feng Shui. (Other than the Flying Star Feng Shui which uses a magic square of 3 x 3 grid). 2. In my opinion, there are lots of different types of numerology and this varies significantly. 3. Some numerology numbers are based on the phoentic sounds. And if it does not sound auspicious, such numbers may be considered inauspicious especially to that particular dialect group e.g. 4 or 44 or 444 (to the Cantonese means die, die, die) etc... 4. And the area of numerology, there are as many as 10, 20 or more different interpretations. 5. Therefore, if you have the opportunity to bid for a number, do bid for what you personally feel that what you like. 6. To share with you some past stories; this is real and it happen to my father. In the 1970s he often bid for car number plates. He was successful in bidding for car number SX 12. (Later there was a SX12P added as a check digit). Soon afterwards, perhaps by coincidence he got a ransom demand note sent to our house! He aslo purchased low numbers and such as ST14 etc... Perhaps the " X " in the SX12 does not sound that successful! When I had my first car, for fun, it was after the first round of bid and I bid for the second round of numbers. Thre wre several numbers and I bid and was successful with EY61H. Although I was not `hospitalised' i.e. `H' but after having changed two new cars, I finally, took another number! Dear Anon, A kitchen located in the prosperity sector is ok. One need to look out instead for the following:- 1. Avoid any parts of the stove being supressed by ceiling beam above it. 2. Water pipes should not criss-cross along the stove. (It should be hidden from view). 3. For the stove; the knobs should face upwards towards the ceiling (in a neutral position) especially if the stove face `outwards' of the main entrance of the house. 4.
