Dear John, In my opinion as far as the Feng Shui of the house is concerned -- majority of the cures relate to placement of 6 coins. Frankly, so far, I have quite of RC clients and in this website... there is no compulsion to place or advice given to place inside the house things that you had mentioned. For six coins, as a cure under Flying Star Feng Shui, users in Singapore has an alternative of using 6 Singapore 1 dollar coins. Place the bamboo flute on any side of the concrete beam. 3. If it is a wooden beam (usually if it is less than 3 inches (width) by 6 inches -- there is really not much issue or the supression of Qi is in my opinion minimal. Here, it can still be corrected. But houses predominantly with really bad Shapes and Form may not be cured entirely. Feng Shui is not a cure all. Each Feng Shui concept has its purpose or aim. And also the strength and weakness. Some things are better cured with modern medicines. What do you think? It is good instead for you to come to a conclusion. Dear Laurie, 1. Yes, Flying Star is based on the 9 periods of the Chinese calendar system. 2. For the benefit of users who are not aware what is the nine periods. You can view this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-calendar.htm 3. One 1 Cycle of the lunar calendar consists of 180 years or 9 periods x 20 years. 4. Each cycle is divided into 3 groups: Upper, Middle and Lower. Each group comprise 3 periods. Each period is 20 years. 5. This is where the Flying Star Feng Shui is based on this 20 year cycle. 6. And as you have mentioned can be classified as the Year cycle. From what you had mentioned, it is true that within each 20 year cycle, the numbers or periods 1 , 2, 3... to 9 flows in each year. In general it goes from `birth' Period 1 to `struggle' Periods 3 to 6. And `prosperity' around Period 7 to 9. And returns to birth again. Therefore, for example, each year is govern by a `Period number'. Dear Sheila, 1. Yes, I do agree with you. There is relatively no problem with stone Buddha in conflict with the Grand Duke. 2. Before, all of us get `carried away with the concept of Grand Duke... *JOKE* The relevant idea is that Grand Duke that it is the planet Jupiter. And Jupiter is the largest planet it's magnetic field or force is what is considered as having a an influence. Much like the tiny moon that affects our tide. 3. Overall, in my opinion although there are two major `dislikes' of the Grand Duke: a. Touching (e.g. painting a wall) and b. Distrubing him 4. I feel that the greater impact is under Para 2 i.e. disturbing him. Especially e.g. digging earth at the South sector. 5. In fact, one week prior to Chinese New Year on 12 February 2002; I was `frantically' clearing up my garden as it is situated at the south. Eg. digging earth i.e. relaying/removing some underground garden hose etc... Phew! after doing so, as this is the start of the new year, I dare not touch this area anymore! 6. In the past, some of the users had reported e.g. when grand duke was at the East, and there were some diggings e.g. construction work diagonal to the room they were sleeping in -- sickness occured in that room. However, if you are staying in an apartment -- a symbolic remedy of house numbers is not to place then in a straight line:- For example: 5 1 3. Leave the 1 at the existing line and raise the 5 (sligthly) above it. Not necessarily as shown above where the 5 is one level higher. Depending on the font used: the 5 can be raised higher. The shape of your plot of land and the outline of the concrete-lined drainage ditch. In particular - the outline of the concrete-lined drainage. 2. Describe the gradient on all four sides of the house. 3. If possible, describe the surrounding houses e.g in front; side. Alternatively a street directory map of the sector of your house. Here, you must first determine or locate the centrepoint of the house. b. From this centrepoint take a compass reading aimed at the main entrance door. Based on the above method, you would have then drawn the North--South grid of the compass direction and East--West grid. From this grid, you can then find out where is your bedroom located. Dear Rameshwaran, Please see below:- 1. If it is the bedroom, then allow as much `clear space' around the centre area of the bedroom. 2. There is usually no way to squeeze out enhancements at sectors that one should not activate water positions e.g. in the bedroom. 3. This is equally similar to mountain stars - found. 3.1 For example: If a mountain star is found at the frontage of the house e.g. main entrance - as much as we would like to `activate' something e.g. a mountain star to activate luck -- this is not possible or feasbile. 3.2 "It is like placing a mountain at the frontage" of the house. Where water or clear space is required." 4. Therefore, it is best always to understand each and every concept. As mentioned in earlier postings: the three step approach. 5. It not only apply to understanding the main theory e.g. Flying Star but also segments or sub-concepts. 6. For example:- Step 1: What is the aim or purpose of mountain star? Step 2: What are it's strengths? (It is good to do some homework on the above two). Step 3: What are it's weakness? As I have clarified above under Para 3.1 - it's weakness is that it is suppose to provide a solid backing and it is impossible or `fatal' to block a frontage with a mountain. 7. Even with `creativity' we will only be killing ourselves if we ever place a `mountain' at the front of the door. 8. For example: Let's say the mountain star is indeed at the main entrance. A " nut-case " may simply place two rocks (maybe or perhaps) supported by string above the two doors. 9. There can be a chance that gravity would one day bring the rock falling and crashing down. Maybe the "nut-case" has a thick skull and survived. But what happens if it is his/her young child who was struck with it. 11. But if say this is the bedroom - then, the "First rule" is if one applys Flying Star Feng Shui - cure it... cure it... 12. Once this sector is cured under Flying Star (in particular the 20 year Flying Star analysis): if this sector is a good sector under one's Gua (Kua) isn't this a bonus. 13. Again, it is best to understand the purpose/aim/strength/weakenss of each concept carefully. 14. By doing so, we can see if it is `productive' or more importantly FEASIBLE to apply concepts. 15. In my opinion, there are many people who are `thrown' into a vicious cycle of trying to "squeeze" every drop or way above the specifications of that concept/theory. 16. If we purchase a 2 seater car. Can we expect to squeeze 4 people into it? Tie them to the roof? to the bonnet etc... 17. In my personal opinion, I have always (for myself) taken the easiest route -- Quantum Leap by identifying good homes. And on a personal self, (Honestly) other than making sure the Shapes and Form are excellent; my bedrooms/main door is favourable for me and Flying Star with excellent e.g. double 7's -- Frankly, I have not done much more than to neutralise poison arrows (even if houses are excellent ones). I feel that this is quantum leap -- the `armchair style' and not many of the ills of trying to squeeze out (by any means) of the interior of the house. Dear Rameshwaran, To cure a missing corner at SW, ideally, it would be best to place a long mirror on one of the walls at SW to symbollically extend it. As you have mentioned, another method is to place a windchime overhead at the corner ceiling to extend it. It is better or preferred to use a 6 rod hollow metal windchime than a wooden windchime. In addition to the above; you may want to consider using Flying Star Feng Shui and apply it to your home. In some instances, depending on the period your house was built and direction of main entrance; there can be sector influences relating to romance `problems'. NOTE: Not all houses may have such combinations but if there are, it has to be neutralised: For example:- Flying star combinations of #mountain and #water: 8 3 - problems relating to romance/marriage 8 4 - problems relating to " " " " Therefore, if you have the time, you can try to do an audit with Flying Star to see if there are any of the above or other senarios that can be a stumbling block to your romance. Or alternatively, if there are sectors relating to romance and if there is an imbalance caused at that particular sector; then it has to be balanced - in order to have a smooth romance. For example:- #6 & #1 - Romance Luck #7 & #4 - Romance Luck and there are other combinations that has significance for romance. Majority of the books (there are so many of them) should help to understand on the site and the buidling or home. And on interior placement. Step 1: Find out the aim and purpose of each concept/idea. Step 2: What is it's strength Step 3: What is it's weakness Frankly, even today, whenever, I answer or try to visualise the various concepts; I always think of these three steps. To see if which concept or idea can relate to most of us. Furthermore, in Feng Shui, there are so many concepts or ideas. Not all concepts can be successfully applied to all or most people. Therefore, even if one is new to Feng Shui but approach the various concepts by understanding each one... may even thru time fare better than someone who had learnt Feng Shui a life-time yet... may not be so sure of it. The purpose, why I had not archieved any of the past messages is so that anyone can do a SEARCH for a topic of their interest and find at least 10 or more past responses. Thus, if you have an immediate question or some or several topics; why not try to do a SEARCH in this forum for any relevant subject that comes in your mind. For example: search for " fish tank , water fountain " etc... Applied Feng Shui is more relevant as it is about real people and real issues - faced. Dear Anon, So long as one is not staying or spending time below a beam, this is OK. As there is no `suppression' of Qi e.g. on a person's head. I am glad that you have clarified that it is a wooden beam. For a wooden beam, if one spents time below: the remedy is to place 6 coins on the beam i.e. stick on it. Or cut aluminium foil x 6 pieces of around 2cm diameter. The alternative is to cut it into the shape of stars. The rationale for this is because, for wooden beam -> metal is required to destroy it. Contrast this with a concrete beam where majority of it is cement or earth. And wood is used here to destroy cement i.e. what is seen externally here is cement or soil/sand. Warmest Regard, Cecil

However, under Shapes and Form Feng Shui observation, a good colour would be white or off-white or shades of white. Which represents the metal element. Try to avoid pink/purple or red or shades of this colour. 3. If blue colour is ever used here -- this has carefully evaluated especially under Para 1. Blue can go both ways - i.e. it can either be used to " create " wealth or alternatively be a double edged sword i.e. like hot and cold (blue vs red). For Feng Shui resources e.g. our banner or header is green. Green symbolises the east or growth or literally speaking " growth in one's knowldege ". 2. For the forum, the colour is blue. Which represents "water element" i.e. fluid. Where forum messages are always fluid and like the "waves" is never constant. Questions posted; for example are frequently new or distinctive. 3. This website uses various different colours. 4. For our astrology section e.g. http://www.lovesigns.net - usually many people associate Chinese astrology with love and black with speckled dots of white represent also the stars (is also appropriate) for "astrology" which relates to the stars or planets. 5. Dear Anon, Congratulations on your new home! 1. Overall, although cross beams are not good in Feng Shui but do take note that it is not an issue unless one spends time below it. For example: if none of your furniture e.g. chairs i.e. sofa ... dining chairs are not underneath it nor your bed; then there is no longer any issue. 2. However, if one is sitting below a beam (and the beam is a concrete structure) then wood can be used to neutralise it. If you are not staying alone (single) but married, usually; the binding element is used to look at the best elements to decorate especially the bedroom or living room. 4. On a personal side, since you are considered a weak earth element person: you should introduce : `fire element' such as pink, purple or red. For example, if you have already invested in wood furniture: you can - e.g. in your bedroom (if you are single) use pink/purple or red bedsheet. Or paint the walls e.g. pastel shade of pink / purple. Or consider curtains (with these colours e.g. pink/purple or red. In the living room you can either consider the above curtains or introduce `persian carpets e.g. with red. If you are staying alone e.g. only one weak earth element and since there are great numbers of wood elements as mentioned by u, you could introduce as an alternative to pink/purple or red - white representing the metal element. Under Ba Zi Feng Shui; if one's element is weak earth or strong earth -- more emphasis or attention required than say other elements as " earth " element is predominat in "all seasons ". For example: Spring arrives.. and weans.. between this period to Summer (earth element is strongest). Then between end of summer and beginning of autumn -- earth element again is strongest. Earth element is strongest between each season. Furthermore.. under Flying Star Feng Shui -- caution is required since most of the bad elements e.g. Bad earth #5 (misfortune) and #2 (sickness) are all bad earth components. It is thus still acceptable for you to have other elements that can generally -- neutralise this. Dear Marko, Frankly, I was thinking very hard about your senario. Since it is a shared wall and not a house or frontage facing each other; in my opinion, there is not much one can do here. A Metal `cure' is used usually, if there is an imbalance e.g. on the shared wall of your bedroom. Otherwise, it is not normally used. Dear Patricia, If you have a bed between the bedroom door and the bedroom, you can place a side table with a table lamp. The table lamp and the side table will be symbolic of a partition between the two. Other than this, a screen can be used. Dear Anil, In my opinion, what you described is minor or really not much of an issue as it is felt that the movement of your personal vehicle is at low speed and unlike on a road. And would normally not cause Sha qi. Unless (I believe this is quite remote) that particular sector of the bedroom has a flying star combination of #2 with #3 (which would require `stillness' or `quietness' at that sector. And this should not have any adverse contrast with the `water' grey colour. Overall, red is indeed an auspicious colour for business. Dear Konrad, 1. In my opinion, how suitable the house is to a person (breadwinner and family members) are but one of the many considerations for selecting a house. 2. This is the main reason why many people; are not able to take full advantage of Feng Shui to help them. But instead, nose dive into a vicious cycle of `hit & run'. 3. Therefore, we often see many of us dwell in micro aspects of Feng Shui. And forget totally about the macro aspects. It is akin to living or pretending to live in a house with four walls and forgetting that there is an external environment. 4. Quantum Leap in Feng Shui In order to achieve a quantum leap in Feng Shui, priority should go instead in finding good plots of land i.e. land that can be considered as able to `retain wealth'. Thus, sometimes one may not have the adequate knowledge to do it alone or try to find such types of homes. It takes years of experience just to dwell on this subject. This type of Feng Shui is like `going on an offensive'. 5. Contrast this to e.g. using Eight House etc.. which is more of a `defensive' tool. If you are using the Eight House Theory, try to find a house that is suitable for you and nice if the bedroom is also suitable. 6. Ideally, unless one has intimate knowledge of Feng Shui or able to use the three tools widely: 6.1 Shapes and Forms 6.2 Compass Schools: Eight House & Flying Star 6.3 Ba Zi (element and strengths) Without the above intimate knowledge and use, even if the house may be considered `suitable' but one could still lead a not-so-fortunate life.
