  1. Dear Angelica, Please see below:- Unless one is of a Cantonese dialect where 4 is considered an inauspicious number; overall, in my opinion, it should be OK. In Feng Shui for business, this may not necessarily be inauspicious. Especially if your main entrance is not directly affected. Properly placement of signages or the frontage here may be an added bonus. If the complex is an existing one, find out more what happened to the previous tenant. As mentioned above, it depends on various factors and site investigations. If you have a layout of the shop with the complex layout, feel free to post it to this forum so that I can help u look at it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Kamini 1. In my opinion, many of us are led wrongly to believe that our romance sector is at the South-West. 2. In fact, many book authors and those who sell things to enhance that sector are infact the only ones " Laughing to the Bank ". 3. It is certainly sad to see this situation. 4 Let us look at an illustration:- 4.1 Let's say if three of us are young bachelor males working in any office. There is a new lady colleague who has just joined us. 4.2 One of us would place a mandarin duck in the South-West sector. For me, I may have palced 12 roses at South-West sector. 4.3 The third male colleague, who knew of what three of us are doing; try to out bid the two of us: He placed 112 roses at SW and also a pair of mandarin ducks at this sector also. 4.4 So, did the `best man' win? Not quite. Maybe because the three of us were too confident of ourselves and just depended on these objects. It could be that another gentleman, saw her, liked her and started wooing her. In the end, it could be that he was the one who finally married her! 5. In my opinion, just because, each Gua (Kua) has its interpetation of a sector; this is too general to be of any use to everyone as it is not personalised to an individual. 6. Even the `humble' Eight House Theory is personalised to a person as it is based on one's Year of birth. 7. Shapes and Form Feng Shui is also personalised to each house. No two house is the same. Some houses may have poison arrows aimed at the main entrance. Others, may have toilets at the front (inaupicious) etc... 8. Therefore, if one can see some of the samples above, there is always some level of personalisation. 9. So what if `North=Career' sector? Should we than pay homage to the North = Career sector? What happens if 10,000 of us or even 100,000 of us wanted to get a raise in any company. Can all of us simply enhance North = career and expect a raise? Is this logical? 10. In fact, I personally feel that many book authors especially those who say that they apply Traditional Feng Shui - are doing themselves in with sector (rubbish) Feng Shui. These people are I believe known as "vampires" of Feng Shui. Out to suck our bloods (hard earned money) dry. And discrediting themselves. 11. But, like easy money or perceived easy money; there will always be people who are conned day in day out. With some imagination; it is so easy for you and me to write a book about `sector' Feng Shui. 12. You have yourself seen the results i.e. " no difference " after enhancing the so called `Romance sector'. In my opinion, it does not matter if one place 2 mandarin ducks, place two golden hearts, photos of loved ones... at this sector. 13. The three-legged toad, has its origins or a respectable tale. But many have again used it to pry on our hope for $$$. Imagine, the cost of a wooden sculptured three-legged toad can be as low as $15 but check how much one has to pay for it. The supersition is that it should be placed inwards from the door facing in. Other than, this, I call this supertitious belief. 14. The dragon fish or arowana fish should also be considered more - of a hobby fish. For those who love or enjoy rearing it. It should not be reared just because of " Feng Shui ". 15. In my opinion, Feng Shui is a holistic approach and involve many different disciplines such as:- Earth Luck: Shapes and Form Feng Shui Eight House Flying Star Ba Zi Feng Shui Heaven Luck: Pillars of destiny 16. Unfortunately, many people only expect `instant' results like taking instant coffee similar to paying homage to the `sectors' of a house. 17. For those, who do not want the hassle of doing any of the above under Para 15, could perhaps, try to see if they can avail themselves with a competent Feng Shui practitioner to do all these for them. 18. For others, may need to spent time not only to understand each theory but also try to consolidate all theories and apply them to themselves. I am pleased to inform you that there are indeed many users here, who have been listening in to this forum since it started. (Provided you also have the patience to do so.) 19 .Therefore, I like to personally appeal to new users here that if Feng Shui is so each to apply, it would not have taken many (many years) of knowledge plus the crucial aspect of experience. 20. And I have often stressed that if there is a `leak' in the house (due to poor Feng Shui) do fix it first! For example, simple things like a lone lamp post slicing thru the main door is a threat and must be fixed. If not, no matter how much we try to do the interior of the house, our romance; our finance will always be drained. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Elizabeth, In my opinion, the placemetn of e.g. family moneybox does not feature prominently in many schools of Feng Shui.' The only school of Feng Shui which is related more towards buddhism i.e. buddhist belief of the Eight Treasures. Feng Shui practitioners with such buddhist inclination often make use of the term Eight Treasures. And in fact, they ask their clients to bury e.g. the Eight Treasures (prior) to the house being ready at the main entrance and corners of e.g. the living room. I believe, you treasure your family moneybox and do not want to see it `buried'. As shown in the above example. You can choose to place your family moneybox in the living room or any other locations you or your family feel `nice' about it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Desiree, Thanks for your clarification. In my opinion, stairs leading down may not necessariy mean bad energy. However, it has to be looked on a case-by-case basis. For example, in Singapore's Business District, there are some office buildings where were purposely built such that every one has to walk down (as you have described) to the lobby. And here, they either have one of the e.g. three elevators or (stairs) to their office that is more than 18 floors high. An example is the `Tong Eng' Building at Cecil Street in Singapore. The rationale here is that contrary to popular notations; many developments or buildings are of this design for two main reasons: 1. Because the house or building is `sink-in' and its main entrance or lobby can `never' be at a threat from any poison arrows from the street level. 2. In good Feng Shui designed or by sheer coincidence that it now has good feng shui; may be due to the building or house being able to `retain wealth'. Here, I mentioned that one has to look at it at a case-by-case basis. 3. As what can affect the Feng Shui of home is the external environment, the site of your home which covers not only your home/building but several buildings close-by. Other factors that may influence your home could be what is at the back of the house/building and the interior layout e.g. especially the location of the toilets etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Desiree, In my opinion, based on your description, an elevated entrance is OK. And in some ways; it serves to help to protect the main entrance. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Angelica, 1. Usually, such bad luck or misfortune arises from the Feng Shui of the previous owner's house. Especially if the house has a missing corner at the North sector of their exisiting home. Or where at a specific situation when the accident of the son could be due to the concentration of Flying Stars #5 x 2 or more either in the 20 year or yearly or even monthly charts. 2. In my opinion, the bad luck most likely will not be passed on. However, since you intend to go into business; it would be prudent to look at the Flying Stars of this shop space for your restaurant. With regards to any sectors that may have too yin a sectors. And if so, it should be cured. At the moment, as mentioned earlier, the shop may most likely not; but it is best to check. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. 1. Yes, if one replace a new roof, it is said that the house changes to a new birth date. 2. However, please take note of the following:- 2.1 The main Flying Star Theory uses 20 year period for analysing the birth chart of a house. Thus any house build between 1984 to 2003 is considered a Period 7 house. 2.2 Therefore, since we are now within 1984 to 2003; changing the roof makes no difference to a house will still be considered born under Period 7. The difference is only when a house birth chart is other than Period 7. Therefore, a house born under Period 4, 5 or 6 will have it's birth chart changed e.g. in 2002 when the roof has been changed. And will take on the Period 7 `birth chart'. You need a metal cure here. Please note that the yearly star #5 begining from 12 February 2002 is at EAST. Therefore, I assume you that you must have this correct i.e. your kitchen falls in the EAST. If so, since there are 3 x #Five's the best cure is to use a 6 rod metal wind chime or a `real' grandfather clock ... so that the constant `cling' of metal can help to destroy the 3 x #Five's. Caution when using a grandfather clock - it must be those that have real brass or metal pendulums. Not those cheap imitations where it uses a spray painted on plastic pendulum. If you do the above, then you do not need to hang a 6 i-ching coins at that sector. (The 6 i-ching coins is a secondary subsitute but is not as good as the above remedy(s). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Hoa Luong, Please see below:- Yes. From the centre-point of your house and with the use of an ordinary compass, if your master bedroom face south-west then this should be correct. Or if the compass shows that your bathroom is at south direction then this is correct. There is no cure for this. Please refer to a recent message that I had replied to on this same subject. Actually one can do a SEARCH in the forum for key words like " Kitchen " and the following will show up:- -- Start -- Topic: Cures for Bedroom Over Garage? (2 of 3), Read 56 times Conf: Free Advice (General Topics) From: Cecil Lee Date: Monday, January 28, 2002 06:05 AM Dear Ben, Please see below:- I am glad that you found the resources onn this website useful. Yes, in many instances, some of the more `modern' Feng Shui concepts use commonsense approach. For example, a bedroom above the garage is quite similar to the concept of the bedroom above the kitchen (in some ways): 1. It is similar because, it was felt that in case a vehicle `caught fire' the flames would rise into the bedroom. As we all know, unless it is a deliberate attempt or arson; the chance of a stationary vehicle catching fire is rare. 2. Concept that there is empty space below e.g. the master bedroom. With modern construction methods and properly supervised stage(s) of construction; assuming that the house has been properly certified by a competent consultant to ensure that it can withstand the normal weight of loading on the columns; there should no longer be an issue of such a structure ever collapsing. If the above are addressed properly, I feel that this should be fine. Although in the Flying Star Theory for Highrise building; each level is said to have a different influence of Qi. For those who are interested to find out what is the significance of your flat or apartment on the different levels; feel free to use the Free Flying Star Highrise Building report at http://www.geomancy-online.com Warmest Regards, Cecil -- End -- Back to your question:- In several recent messages, I recommend those who are interested to apply Feng Shui to use a Three-step approach:- Step 1: What is the aim or purpose of the concept and theory; Step 2: What is it's strength; Step 3: What is it's weakness; It is useful to use the Eight House Theory e.g. to find a new house and where possible choose houses that are suitable to the person or their family. Otherwise, once one had already bought or lived in a house, there is not much one can do if the various sectors are inauspicious to spent time at. I also mentioned that each specific concept or theory can only do so much. Up to what it specifies. For example, if one has a large family but bought a small saloon car. How can we then expect this small saloon car to be able to accomodate e.g. a family of 7 persons? Even if one wants to squeeze all family members in this small saloon car; this is impossible! Even if one tie them on the roof or shaft them into the small boot. Therefore, how can this be? How can we ever do such things? Impossible. We therefore have to be realistic as to the expectations of each concept or theory. There is not much one can do as a fix. It is like the toilet at the centre-point. The only recourse is to move e.g. the toilet. Usually, the ideal situation is where the stairs is at the side of the house and it has a few turns. Again, other than chopping down the tree, really or frankly - nothing much can be done here other than make a complaint if the tree is not trimmed. Frankly, it is good to understand the Three-Step approach or Step 1, 2 and 3; I had elaborated earlier about any concept. What you had mentioned is too general to be of use as a `cure'. For example East = wood; North = water etc... Here, this is too general a concept and not personalised to everyone. For example, it is like trying to enhance the interior of the house; where all the external of the house is (for e.g.) crumbling or leaking. Fix the leak:- Here are a few guidelines. Again, it is best to try to note the Three Step approach. Such as what is the purpose or aim of each concept/theory... Usually, the best method to fix `leaks' are:- 1. Flying Star Chart - the `clue' here is that it is used to look at the BIRTH CHART of the house and CURE it. 2. Pillars of Destiny Personal chart - it determines one's ELEMENT and STRENGTH. And can be used to ENHANCE a person. From the above, we can see that when many of us talk about CURE(S); we are looking at the wrong theory i.e. Eight House and assume that there is a cure for it. Did we look else where? Since Flying Star Chart looks at the birth chart of the house - it can be used to cure the house. Personally, I often, refer to the Three-Step approach when replying to questions on this forum. It certainly help me to remain focused in particular what one concept or theory can or cannot do. Yes, currently only on special invitations or private visits to clients for specific audits e.g. developers developing a new building. For those who can help to organise a group session e.g. course in their country, can check with me. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. This is quite common for light industrial business offices where the main wooden door opens outwards. In these three pictures, you will see that the owners have used a twin glass doors as added `protection'. As you can see the sky-blue coloured wooden doors open outwards. The owner used two keiloons to guard the entrance of the office. And there is another figurine to usher in good fortune. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Anon, To be frank, it is quite difficult for me to give a definite answer as to whether it is Ok to paint the inside red. This is because, in a FS audit, many considerations are taken into consideration. If a deeper analysis is not required, then, perhaps, one may have to rely on one's six sense or ask family members for their comments. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Sarita, So far, I have not come across any problem related to a red fridge on its effect on water. Black represent the water element. Therefore, on the exterior, it represents the water element. Even internally, it is it is also filled with water. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Sarita, 1. Currently, in my opinion, the most popular concept that is floating in the internet and around the world is the Eight Aspirations concept. 2. This concept, is second (in popularity) to the Eight House Theory. 3. The difference between the Eight House Theory and the Eight Aspirations is that at least, the Eight House Theory is personalised to an individual. Contrast this to the Eight Aspirations or also commonly known as Life Associations/Aspirations. 4. I feel that the major flaw with the Eight Aspiration concept is that it is not personalised to anyone. If we look carefully at all the major theories; they are infact `customised to':- 4.1. Either the person (Eight House Theory); 4.2. Customized to the house i.e. Birth chart of the house/office (Flying Star Theory). 5. Even the `humble' Shapes and Forms is also `customised' to a house. For example, no two houses are alike. 6. And some houses may have a poison arrowed aimed at it. While the neighbour's house may not. Thus, even under the Shapes and Forms, each situation facing a house is not exactly the same. 7. It is because of the fact that each Gua (Kua) has it's own characteristics and nothing else. 8. The Eight Aspirations concept therefore aspire many especially book authors to capitalise on how easy to write a book on it. For example, for many of us, with some or little imagination, we can try to complete a book on Eight Aspirations easily. The chapters start as ... Chapter 1: What is the Eight Aspriations concept. Chapter 2: Your career at North. Therefore, enhance, enhance this sector with everything related to career... Chapter 3: Your romance. Place a family photo etc... at your romance sector 9. The above seems too easy and even `Fixed Template' marketing ploys have come up like the *Black Hat Sect's" template. For those who have visited such sites, can see descriptions like, your " X " sector is at the SW of your main door. Sounds to easy. 10. Therefore, I personally feel that the Eight Aspirations concept is too general to be of any use or purpose. Other than to make book authors or marketing / sellers of products extremely happy - at our expense. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Anon, 1. You can hang 6 metal coins to counter the #2 #3 & 5 combination. Normally, it is hang and not hidden from view. Once, this is done, the East room should be considered `neutralised'. Only thing is to check the yearly Flying star for especially the 5 & 2's at this sector. And for those who want to go deeper can look at the monthly stars for the year to see if no 5 & 2 coincide with it. Anyway, with the 6 coins, it would overall be sufficient to cure. Unless, there are year #5 and month #5 for a specific period. In such a situation, it is strongly recommended to use `moving' metal e.g. a grandfather clock i.e. with brass movement or a 6 rod brass/copper wind chime. Where the metal is constantly used to hammer down the #5 bad yellow (earth). 2. For the bedrooms, so long as the above is neutralised under Flying Star, you can look at how best to place the beds for both your children based on Shapes & Forms and Eight House concept. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. This location is indeed an ideal place for the fish-tank! Sssssh! Don't let others know about it!
  15. In Feng Shui, it is better to find out what's wrong FIRST. Here `plug the leak' that could have `leaked' our "Health, Happiness or Wealth'. Only after doing so, then, go get your enhancers!
  16. Dear Leanne, In my opinion, your question is too general. To learn more you could either: 1. Purchase some starter books on Feng Shui. Majority of these books are of the Shapes and Form Feng Shui. It is best to apply either " Traditional Feng Shui " or " 9 Star-Ki " Feng Shui. I would sincerely recommend you not to touch any resources associated with "Black Hat Tantaric Sect" in short: BTB or books associated with `Lin Yun'. 2. You can also browse thru the Free resources in this forum where, it involves real people and real situations or if u have the time to go thru some of the resources at Geomancy.net. Best Wishes on your pursuit of Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Ben, Please see attached file with my comments. 1. Mountain star(s) if found should only be activated at the back of the house. 2. It cannot be activated if say, there is a window or at sliding door(s) or door(s). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Tammie, Please see below:- As mentioned in my forum message; priority should be given (where possible) for your son to spent time at a good sector; first. After this is `satifisfied' then, it is nice to have him face e.g. his education direction NE. Thus, facing NE is secondary or less important then spending good time at a good sector - Under the Eight House Theory. But if the sector is not as good; then, one can still try to face NE. But this is as mentioned - of secondary importance. It is recommended that one understands the aim or purpose of the theory that you are currently using. The aim of Eight House theory is: 1. Find out how suitable e.g. the house is to the breadwinner. 2. It is good to SPENT time at a good sector. 3. It is NICE to have one face a good direction but this has to first take into consideration the Shapes and Form of the bedroom and Para 2 above. Unfortunately, no-where under the Eight House theory is there any mention that it can be used as a cure. Thus each Feng Shui concept must be understood in their perspective. Here, it is like trying to squeeze out something (magic) out of a theory that does what it says it does only. It is similar to a child who may be considered an average child. And we as parents may instead want to expect more out of the child. If you are the breadwinner, one can say that the house especially if the `Excellent' is the intangible force - imply that the house is suitable to you. However, this is only considering one aspect of Feng Shui e.g. Eight House Theory. Usually, many of us, may perhaps, come to expect more than what a single Feng Shui concept can do... and if it does not offer a solution; does not necessary mean that e.g. it is a failure or failed theory or that Feng Shui cannot work properly. For those who are also reading this message, it is good to take note again of the following:- The three steps:- Step 1: Always find out what is the aim or purpose of a concept, theory or idea. Every concept, theory or idea must have an aim or purpose. Step 2: What is it's strengths. From here, we can then understand what it is useful for. Step 3: What is it's weakness. Here, I mentioned that by understanding this question about the concept/theory... we can then `take pity' on the concept/theory and NOT squeeze in vain - what is has never been expected to perform. I hope forum members, do remember to look at all concepts and ideas based on these simple steps and you are on the way to practising good `wholesome' or logical (many times) commonsense approach to Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Max, 1. Recently, there has been a few postings with regards to the `conflicting' information provided by e.g. Flying Star Feng Shui vs Eight House Theory. 2. I like to elaborate that; there is no conflicting information on either the Flying Star Feng Shui nor the Eight House Theory. 3. Here in lies what I have suggested a THREE-Step approach to find out: 3.1 What is the aim or purpose of each theory? If one knows the aim of each of this theory, one would then not be confused or feel that the information provided by e.g. Flying Star or Eight house CAN be contradictory. 3.2 What are the strengths and 3.3 What are the weakness of the theory or concept. 4. In a few recent messages, I have mentioned that:- 4.1 The Eight House theory is about How much time one spents at a sector. For example, if under the Eight House theory if a particular sector has the intangible force of `Health' at that sector; then, this is specific to the person. Well and fine if the person can spent more time in this sector. 4.2 As mentioned, the sector is INDIVIDUAL self specific. Thus, for example if the sector is inauspicious for the spouse or e.g. his `Disaster' sector; then it is best that this is not his bedroom as this is not a good sector for him to SPENT time at that sector. 4.3 Thus, the Eight House theory (other than the main entrance door is auspicious or not for the individual; it alsorevolves around e.g. TIME SPENT at a specific sector. 5. The Flying Star Feng Shui is about analysing THE BIRTH CHART of the house. 6. Therefore, there is a difference between " Time Spent " for an INDIVIDUAL under Eight House vs Flying Star (which is all about the Birth Chart of the house). 7. Thus, I hope, you and other members can hopefully understand that we should if possible try to understand the purpose of each theory. 8. In a Flying Star chart, for example a 20 year Flying Star chart when a sector is considered e.g. good or auspicious, it simply means that the BIRTH CHART at this sector is good. Therefore, there is no need for any cures or neutralising agent here. Thus, it can be good or auspicious under Flying Star but for an INDIVIDUAL (applying Eight House Theory) it need not necessary mean that this is a good sector for him/her to SPENT time at. I hope the above clarifies your doubt. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Tammie, Please see below:- It is not advisable to place a small wash basin facing the stove unless this sector is at the South compass direction. For example if your kitchen and stove is at the south compass direction or around 180 degrees direction; it is still acceptable to place the stove there. It is also still acceptable if the kitchen and stove is at the East or South-East - wood element sectors. If the kitchen and stove is at North, this is not advisable as it is said that the warmth cannot be retained. This is still acceptable. Where possible, it is more important that when one stands at the main entrance looking inwards, the windows facing directly the main door should be closed. This is so that qi does not flow in a straight line e.g. flow from the main entrance (in a straight) line out of the house. Even say, if you are considered an Earth person - there is a vast difference between a strong earth or weak earth person. The enhancement can go both ways and sway drastically between a weak or strong person. Under the Eight House theory, you should give the following priority:- 1. Top priority is to have your son study (preferably) at a good sector. 2. Only if condition 1 is satisfied, and it is certainly `nice to have' say your son sit with his face (facing a good direction). Warmest Regards, Cecil
