  1. Dear Momo, 1. If you are using the Flying Star House Number report, this is meant for apartments/flat and not landed property. 2. Usually, basing on house number may not be a good idea or a direct basis to determine how good or bad a house is. In Feng Shui, an audit based on Shapes and Forms and other Compass School methods, would be a better option to help increase or improve one's luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Xtine, Lava which has been cooled, should in my opinion not be considered any longer as `Fire element'. This is similiar to other materials that had cooled down. For example, ceramics which has been `fired' in a kiln, has cooled down. Ceramics is in my opinion considered as earth element. The lava you spoke off, should be considered (in my opinion) earth element also. However, if it contains a high percentage of metal or metal oxide, then it could be considered as the metal element. Another interesting to note is that even if it is considered as the earth element; in the past Chinese geology, each grain is inspected to find out what is the actual element. Example, if the grain is smooth and round, then it is considered of the metal element. If the grain is spiky, then it is considered as the fire element etc... Please see below:- However, I am personally `worried' about the way you practise the use of the five elements especially if it does not have any relationship with the home/building such as the Flying Star of the home. This is because, one should check on each sector for any imbalances and sometimes, our application of certain elements may unduly make it `worse off'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Steven In reality, one should consider the entrance towards the home even if the frontage seems to be the North. At your `second' level, the entrance to your home should be the location of the door. In my opinion, it should still be South. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear SL, Frankly, in the past, there were no aircon. And we therefore, cannot rely on the past for any information on this. Overall, based on "commonsense" it would be best for airconditioning to blow "from the side" rather than blowing towards our face e.g. aircon behind the bed headrest or flowing towards our legs towards our face. This can be quite uncomfortable and may affect our breathing... Well for wind = money flowing out of the aircon, there is really no harm if one placed coins on the aircon. Coins which represent metal is one of the `safest' materials to use as most of us know that metal element can help to cure `bad earth' elements and `bad wood' elements. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear SY Wong, In general, the best days for changes or doing things e.g. moving is either the 15th or the 1st day of any lunar month. (Note: Chinese usually avoid the 7th month.) Another method is to llok at one's Ba Zi e.g. element and strength and choose dates that auspicious to one's animal sign. Also under www.geomancy-online.com there is an Auspicious date module. Which is based on an individual's element and strength and the best dates for him/her. You can also make use of the Tung Shu or the 100 year calendar to look for auspicious dates. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Anon, Feng Shui and other Chinese divinity methods is all about trying to improve one's luck. It is a holistic method of trying to improve luck in many areas:- 1. Feng Shui For example 1.1 Shapes and Form 50 marks 1.2 Eight House Theory 10 marks 1.3 Flying Star Theory 40 marks ------------------------ Total 100 marks ======================== Like mathematics, we should try to improve the above luck. 2. Some of us look to sector Feng Shui to improve our luck and simply concentrate on this only. Thus if for example, it comes under Flying Star Theory and the total marks allocated to it is 40 marks. If there are 9 sectors in the home, this means that 40 marks is divided by 9 = 4.4 marks per sector. So, if we assume that SW needs to be enhanced, we may get full marks here 4.4 marks out of 40 marks. Which mean that we still FAIL !!! in getting say 30 marks over 40 marks for Flying Star. Thus, it is not realistic to just concentrate on doing right for one sector. Therefore, a holistic method is needed here. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Anon, It is interesting to find out the survey results under http://www.geomancy.net/polls/ for this poll under the above link:- Are you comfortable sleeping facing a TV set (mirror)? A short simple 3 questions survey. (The third last poll) One can find that not all of us are `affected' by mirror facing the bed. However, one simple method is to either use opaque film over the mirror or place paper over the mirror e.g. tape plain paper over it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Anamika, The main important thing to do is to find the centrepoint of the house. You can follow the instructions below:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm to find the centrepoint of the home and subdivide the home into the relevant compass grids either 9 divisions or 8 divisions depending on one's comfort zone. The url, here can help you understand how to do a step-by-step guide... http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Yang Ming, Usually most house plans have both the individual layout plans and more importantly the site/plot plans. Most of the site/plot plans will have the North-South orientation. Here, we can use a protractor to measure the inclination of the house i.e. North/South -- East/West and then superimpose this grid to the layout plan. Here, one can orientate the individual layout plan to this larger site/plot plan. We can then have a `rough' or if done correctly a good `estimate' of the compass direction e.g. the main entrance door. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Yang Ming, Under the Eight House Theory, there is really not much one can `cure' here. What you can do is to make sure that the `Shape and Form' Feng Shui is acceptable for you in your work area. For example, avoiding the desk facing a toilet or next to it. Or have people walking behind your table (if possible). Feng Shui is about trying to increase one's luck and if we `hit' a wall with regards to the above; we could perhaps try to increase other areas of our luck. Such as the luck in our home or personal self. Warmest Regards, Cecil Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Momo, Usually, garment production is considered under the `Earth element'. However, nowadays with multi-skilling and that many people are taking up more than 1 specialisation. We have to determine or find out further. For example, an accountant working in a garment industry would be more inclined towards a job with the metal element. Under http://www.geomancy-online.com there is a specific report that can analyse one's Ba Zi in relation to career. For example:- a. Career with Wealth b. Career with Power. c. Other `neutral' careers. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  14. Carjacking Foiled An elderly lady did her shopping and upon return found 4 males in her car. She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at them at the top of her lungs that she ?knows how to use it and will shoot if required... so get out of MY car!? The 4 men didn?t wait around for a second invitation. They out and ran like mad, where upon the lady proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and got into the drivers seat. Small problem: Her key wouldn?t fit the ignition. Her car was identical and parked four or five spaces further down. She loaded her bags into her car and drove to the police station. The sergeant that she told the story to nearly tore himself in two with laughter and pointed to the other end of the counter where 4 pale white males were reporting a carjacking by a mad, elderly, white woman.... No charge were filed.
  15. We can draw a parallel of the keen observation required by a Professor of medicine to the keen powers of observation; in Feng Shui.... The Power of Observation ! Students at the UH Med School were receiving their first anatomy class with a real dead human body. They were gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet. Then the professor started the class by telling them: ?In medicine, it is necessary to have 2 important qualities as a doctor. The first is that it is necessary that you not be disgusted.? The Professor uncovered the sheet, sunk his finger in the ass of the dead body, withdrew it and sucked it. ?Go ahead and do the same thing,? he told his students. The students freaked out, hesitated and subsequently taking turns, sunk their finger in the ass of the dead body and sucked it after withdrawing it. When everyone finished, the Professor looked at them and told them: ?The second important quality is observation. I sunk the middle finger and sucked the index, so pls pls Pay attention people!?
  16. A Philosophy worth keeping A Nice Philosophy I believe- that we don?t have to change friends if we understand that friends change. I believe- that no matter how good a friend is, they?re going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that. I believe- that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. I believe- that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life. I believe- that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them. I believe- that we are responsible for our actions, no matter how we justify it. I believe- that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place. I believe- that money is a lousy way of keeping score. I believe- that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time. I believe- that sometimes when I?m angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn?t give me the right to be cruel. I believe- that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you?ve had and what you?ve learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you?ve celebrated. I believe- that just because two people argue, it doesn?t mean they don?t love each other. And just because they don?t argue, it doesn?t mean they do. I believe- that you shouldn?t be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever. I believe- that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don?t even know you. I believe- that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
  17. Dear Teresa, Can I confirm whether you are drawing a bagua based on fixed template or using e.g. the Eight House Theory (sample format as shown under http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm ) For significance of missing corners, you can review them at http://www.geomancy.net/fs/building.htm ). Do note that sometimes, it may not necessarily be a `missing corner' but instead, a sector may be a protusion. If you have a sketch of your layout plan (to scale); you can attach it to the forum and I can try to find out the centrepoint. You can then use this point to place e.g. your Eight House Template on it. Do note that under the Eight House Theory, if one does not spent time at a sector, it usually is no issue. If you stay in a landed property, it is good to `offset' missing corners to make the home e.g. as rectangular as possible by e.g. landscaping the garden. (Assuming one takes a top down view of the profile of the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Deborah, 1. Apologies for the late response to your plight. At this moment due to the attack on USA; I am equally sadden and at the moment; going thru CNN news etc.. and thus.. for the last few days.. and perhaps was quite "engrossed with" the tragedy and number of lifes lost.. and coming to terms with it. As many of my friends reside in the US - and emails to find out if they are OK especially in New York. 2. Welcome to this forum. 3. Please e-mail robert-lee@3dmail.com so that we can provide you with a free (paid course) on our Certificate in Applied Feng Shui. 4. My Flying Star course will be up by early October 2001 and you can participate in it. 5. To be totally honest, it would be unprofessional for me to comment on courses offered by other practitioners so; would not touch on it. 6. In my opinion, I always belief that one should never be `myopic' or have a tunnel vision and if one can take as many courses; it would be great. 7. I have mentioned previously that in the past; `Great Feng Shui Masters' learn their trade from `books' rather than information passed down from early generations. One rationale is that most human beings; may not want to give up their secrets so willingly; even if some do so; the next generation may not do the same. Thus; most of the great Chinese Masters; learnt from anicent books and the key is: to apply what is relevant and useful. I welcome you to my Feng Shui course and do take care of your health. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Elaine, Since the house is rented; and working from a 2nd bedroom. If you are converting or using the 2nd bedroom rather than the main bedroom (1st bedroom) then, you can do so. For the position of the tables /chairs; it is always best to prioritise ie. make sure that the tables are positioned based on Good Shapes and Form Feng Shui (first). As an example, the table should not be directly facing the bedroom door. Where possible the table should not be on the same wall or against the same wall (with the opposite side) .... is the toilet. Please see below:- If you are using a bedroom (usually a place of rest) then, you may have to try to use the Yin and Yang concept. during `office hours' try to make the room as Yang as possible e.g. bright etc..to encourage a `business like' environment. `after-office hours' make the bedroom as yin as possible to encourage (rest) or sleep. Yes, it is important to understand good Feng Shui practises correctly. It may take time but; usually the effort pays. Avoid `fast food' Feng Shui whenever we can. Such as reading a book that `promises' that by decorating a sector... one will receive wonders... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Nini, Please see below:- This can be very subjective. And it depends on individuals. Some of us may be highly sensitive to certain issues e.g. storage below the bed. While others may not. Some of us have heard a tale, where a princess could not sleep even if there is a small piece of needle below her pillow case. Alternatively, it may be biological or some other issues/daily concerns/problems that make one unable to sleep. Frankly, there is not much one can do; other to do a test.. i.e. try removing the storage for a week and see if one still sleeps comfortably. (If this can be done). Your second question was addressed in another recent forum message. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Nini, I agree with Deborah on this. One important concept in Feng Shui is " If it no longer can be seen (the threat) it no longer becomes a threat. Therefore, one of the easiest thing to do, e.g. a threat looking into a window is to use curtains or blinds. Blinds are a better alternative in such a situation since, one can manipulate it to filter as much light into the room (if possible). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Further to this, we usually want to know where is the `head of the house'. This is quite similar to the situation of the fatal error of `chopping' off the head of the house. Ref: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/grandpa1.htm If we look again at symbolism in Feng Shui we can imagine that the two twin towers are like the two human legs. Where the head (like an ostrich) buries his head underground and its body is in the middle. We can imagine an "upside-down" person with his head buried in the ground and his body holding the two legs sticking up in the air. This "ostrich effect" of an `upside down person' kicking its two legs above, shows dire predictament. And is another Shapes and Form `interpretation' of the inauspiciousness of the twin towers. Warmest Regards, Cecil
