  1. Dear Maria, You can go to www.geomancy-online.com for more information. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Keng Joo, If you are a Toaist or Buddhist; try to approach or ask around for a priest who can help you to do this. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear SL, 1. In my opinion, for those who would like to really find out what is real Feng Shui can get their `clue' from "academic" Feng Shui books especially from Dr. Evelyn Lip. 2. Some of Dr. Evelyn Lip's book include: " Feng Shui for the Home " and " Chinese Geomancy. " One can easily search for the author especially under : amazon.com or other online bookstores. 3. It is sad that today.. many may not want to `touch' her books because it refers more towards: history, origin and various concepts in Feng Shui. However, many people (I believe) feel that it may not have strong advise or an A to Z application of what they perceive as Feng Shui. Unlike another famous author who usually gives you all the advise. I believe many people then feel that this is the `real' stuff as it is `suppose' to be applied (EASILY). 4. Alternatively, one can buy some of the "first" generation Feng Shui books such as by the author: Derek Walters. I find that his work is authentic because: 4.1 He wrote few books on Feng Shui. 4.2 All his books have reference to either Yin and Yang and the Five Elements. His classic book " Handbook of Feng Shui " has concepts on the 5 elements. While his pictorial book on Feng Shui has lots of illustrations. 5. Frankly, I believe book authors should follow these two authors who help one to understand Feng Shui concepts instead of `bragging' about what cures one should use here or there. Such authors WILL (in my opinion) do more harm than good. And feed the frenzy of commercial companies who earn lots of money making wind chimes; figures etc.... 6. If one has the time; one can also go thru some of the messages in this forum. It is hoped that whatever advise or messages written would help to distinguish between Feng Shui ; Chinese beliefs ; Ba Zi (Pillars) and others. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. I personally recommend to those who want to take accurate readings can use the following brands of compass:- Brand A: SUUNTO of Finland Link to Suunto's Website can be found under: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/recommendcompass.htm Brand B: SILVA of Sweden Models to look at include their: SightMaster model or Mark IV or Precision M80 or Ranger series... Their website can be found under:- http://www.silva.se This page is particularly interesting as they have various models to choose from:- http://www.silva.se/outdoor/products/prof_intro.htm I personally feel comfortable using either SUUNTO's or SILVA's brand of compass as the professional `series' compass have mass and are not affected as much to magnetic influence especially reinforced columns. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear SL, Thank you for bringing up very interesting questions. Frankly, I can only provide my opinion and as many of us are aware; one can get many (many) different replies to your question. Or even.. it can turn out to be highly emotional or over-charged if this question is posed to forums. Therefore, I hope that for those reading this; ultimately; you have to make your own value judgements. As I can see it; overall; Feng Shui should be seen at a macro level. This is where a city has been Feng Shuied and it should apply to macro Feng Shui at the largest sense. Here, generally, those living within this `city' or many within this city can accumulate wealth. This is where, there is some sort of a Dragon Qi flowing from the interior of the city towards e.g. sea. Usually, along the bank of a river. For example: River Thames..... in England... Although Feng Shui can be applied at a micro level; this is less effective for MOST people. Example of Excellent houses: One where it can siphoned off wealth from neighbouring homes. E.g. a house in the lowest trout of e.g. a Horse shoe shaped housing developmentj. When we talk of `Feng Shui' luck we also `talk' about: 1. Accidents / Misfortune - death 2. Sickness We can be affected by bad Feng Shui and it could result in accidents / misfortune or constant sickness. There are instances of some houses where human beings cannot live in. And to live in such house(s) may result in death. In other situations: if one chopped off the `head' of the house (where the profile of the house looks like it has a head and body): Usually if one chops off the head of the house to rebuilt it e.g. two storey high.. the head of the house becomes too heavy. This may result in the death of the breadwinner. A house with two houses on each side of it and where these two houses (form something like a U shaped) can mean death to both the breadwinner and his/her spouse. Bad Feng Shui can result in accidents or sudden death or sickness. Houses where there is underground courses below e.g. the bedroom area may result in Cancer to the family member living just below this room. Yes Feng Shui should be looked at in a holistic way and as far as possible: the home and office should be Feng Shuied. When you mentioned "patt chee " for those who are not aware; it should be also known as Ba Zi or Pillars of Destiny. Some Chinese companies or especially businessmen choose their partners `wisely' and they do look at their Ba Zi and the Ba Zi of their potential partners or even managers. Those they consider not auspicious or in harmony with their Ba Zi is not likely to be hired. Frankly Ba Zi (Map of one's Heaven's Luck) and Feng Shui can be utilised by many. Not necessarily by selected few. Here, if one is only considering `material' wealth then Feng Shui may not be the ideal choice to follow. This is because as I mentioned earlier: Feng Shui is to look at one's earth luck and the harmony of the home with the earth. Here, Feng Shui can be used effectively to help prevent: accidents / calamity or misfortune and minimise sickness. Many of us feel that Feng Shui MUST be equal to $$$$ (WEALTH). Here, wealth can mean different things. I can live (barely) without savings but have a good family e.g. good wife / children .... So does this not mean WEALTH? Wealth can be subjective and wealth can mean a good wholesome familiy life (perhaps lacking in money). Many of us think that Feng Shui can immediately bring us out of Finacial problems. Another thing Feng Shui can help is to `help us to' be healthy; have a good rest and if we have good positive atitude; we are on a good footing to try and help ourselves. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Eng Choon, 1. Please note that what you had mentioned has to do more with `beliefs' than Feng Shui. 2. Under the Five Elements Concept - destructive cycle: it is where metal destroys wood to create wealth. Ref: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/5element.htm 2.1 One interpretation is as follows:- Use 3 coins to be placed under the floor mat: This is where 3 represents = wood element and the metal coins represent metal. Here, symbolically metal is used to destroy wood element (represented by the 3 coins). Result: When one steps on the 3 coins; it is like one stepping on or touching gold. 2.2 Another interpretation: 6 coins represent metal. Since metal = gold or in the Five elements concept: instead of the `western' interpretation of METAL; METAL in mandarin refers to or is called GOLD. Here, since 6 coins represent BIG GOLD (METAL); the belief is that if one steps on "6 GOLD" one is stepping on large amounts of gold. 2.3 Some other FS practitioners or book authors indicate another version: Place 8 or 9 coins under the floor mat. Here, they believe that the number 8 or 9 are lucky numbers. 2.4 If one follows the above; these are generally beliefs rather than Feng Shui. 3. There is even one School of Feng Shui which beliefs in asking their clients to bury " the Eight Treasures " for example at each corner of the house and under the centrepoint or even below the main entrance. The idea is the same: when one steps on the floor of the main entrance... one is said to step on gold. Warmest Regards, Cecil Since the above is relatively simple to do; and as it is based on beliefs, I do not see any harm in anyone trying it out. (I am not sure it will work for everyone though). But as mentioned in past forum messages; the use of metal element at various places in the house is `less harmful' then the danger of activating bad earth element or bad wood element. Since metal is used as a cure. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Rosie, 1. If you can upload a sketch of your house, I can help you to determine the centre-point of the house. Or to see if there is indeed a missing corner or it's significance. Here, either the Eight house or Flying Star can be used to help analyse the house. As to what u mentioned: I use Usually, these options should be treated more as part of `interior' design or something one "likes" rather than to improve the energy. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Tulip, Thank you for your sketch. Usually priority should be given to Shapes and Form Feng Shui. You can check out the two proposed layout plan and see if one of the layout suits your Kua number. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Janne, If you can draw a sketch using one of the paint programs or scanned image, you can upload it together with your forum message under this forum. However, it is preferred to upload a small file i.e. under .jpg format or less than 250,000 K file. I believe a sketch would be easier to understand then the description. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Rochiel, 1. In my opinion, paying homage to a sector i.e. SW = Romance sector is too general to be applied to everyone in the world. 2. Can I confirm, how NW was derived as your Romance sector? 3. I believe, the size and types of crystals are really material objects and should merely serve as an interior decorative object. As there is no relation with the Five Elements Concept - which is the key to Traditional Feng Shui. 4. Then how are elements treated under the Five Elements Concept? 4.1 Under the Five elements concept, for example if we need to apply a `CURE'; we make sure that the cure can be EFFECTIVE. Here, this is where for example: 6 coins can be used to neutralise Bad earth or Bad wood. Where 6 represents Big Metal. And `Big metal' is used to neutralise bad earth. 5. If one is aware, other NON-Traditional Feng Shui methods is not able to provide you with the answer as to : How much crystals to use? The size? the Type? More likely, one ends up poorer having to purchase more crystals. In Traditional Feng Shui, as a "clue"; one can use numbers e.g. 3 crystals where 3 represents.... and since we are using a number; the crystals numbering e.g. 3 are just tokens and can be the size of a penny coin. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Liang, Under the Shapes and Form Feng Shui, it is preferred not to have an air well in the middle of the house. However, from the illustration, you had provided, it looks like the air well is at one side of house. It is advisable not to place a water feature especially close to the centrepoint of the house as this is `bad Feng Shui'. This is because water (under I-ching implies difficulty) and a water position there would not be ideal. It would equally not be good to plant a lone tree there as this is equally bad Feng Shui. In your case, try to leave a clear space i.e. you can if you want to have small pots of plants within the air well. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Rochiel, The idea of utilizing beneificial Qi is to ensure that it comes into the house and meanders (slowly) before exiting out of the house. Here, the chief concern is to prevent Qi from coming into the door and exit directly out of any area (window/door). I believe, you case is common. This is where, you can close the side of the sliding door that is in direct view of your entrance door. And open the other side of the sliding door. This (I believe) would help solve your problem. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Anon, Apologies, hope u can clarify by what you mean - stick to the wall? So long as the small fish ponds are low (provide) clear space, generally this would be acceptable. The rationale for clear space at the frontage of the house is important. And if the two small ponds achieve this, it would be acceptable. Although, further `investigate' looks under Shapes and Forms should be conducted. 2. Apologies, could not see the picture that you said that you had attached below. 3. Frankly, with a sloping roof, over a large portion both study tables, there is really not much one can do here other than (I know is impossible) to create a flat roof area. You may just have to position your tables based on good shapes and form or where both parties feel comfortable with. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Anon, Please see below:- It would not be advisable to have you rhead face the direction of the entrance to your room (door?). Alternatively, one should not sleep based on the `coffin' position with the legs facing the bedroom door. I know of some FS practitioners who would not mind: 1. as mentioned by u leaving a 45 degree hollow. 2. leaving the bed at the centre of the bedroom where the bedhead does not rest (at least against a wall). In my opinion, the above positions are not ideal or inauspicious - to me. Although your description of South = Fire is correct; any thing else, mentioned by you is hard to apply and there is no basis to say that South = your best element. (Also, your element and strength could change this equation) i.e. weak fire or strong fire? Frankly, this should be done in consultant with a Feng Shui consultant who would have looked at the entire house. Other considerations include - avoiding poison arrows being pointed towards the main entrance or letting the main entrance door face NE (devil's gate) or SW (devil's backdoor). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Rochiel, In my opinion, it is very diffcult to apply `sector' Feng Shui to one's life. As Feng Shui is all about luck, it would be best that one applies a holistic approach in trying to increase one's luck. However, under Flying Star Feng Shui, there is the #mountain / #water combination and for certain houses, their will be abundant romance luck; while for other houses non-exisitent. What can we learn from this? It is not always easy to rely soley on " Feng Shui " for our romance luck. And pin our hopes in it. We would have to "actively" pursit romance.. either letting friends know etc.... As to having flowers real or artificial; in my opinion, it is acceptable in the bedroom so long as one feels `nice' and comfortable about it. There is no hard or fast rule in FS to say that one cannot have flowers in the bedroom. (Although some believe that it creates more of a Yang environment than yin). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Vijay, Yes, it is not Feng Shui but rather Pillars of Destiny that can help one to draw a Company Logo or the visiting card. For example, if you are a weak wood, having a logo in blue, with wavy lines helps to strengthen your weak self with water, or using a logo in yellow or brown, and with a square shape does help you increase your wealth deities. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Ho, You may like to view the picture titled: Goodstairs.gif under the following page:- http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/imagesearch.cgi?img=0&search=stairs&cat=all&x=15&y=7 Click on the thumb-nail picture called: goodstairs and you can see a sample of a good layout for the stairs. Also under the learning resources you can find the following information:- The url is:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/stairs.htm 2. The staircase must not:- a. Face the main door. b. Located in the middle of the house. c. Must not face a toilet door. d. Must not face another staircase. e. Must not face a bedroom door. f. Preferably the staircase should have 1, 2, 5,10 ,13 14, 17 or 22 steps. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Phila, 1. As much as we should try to see if family members can be `placed' at favourable locations; this may not be possible; most of the time. 2. In my opinion, first priority should go towards placement based on Shapes and Form Feng Shui. 3. Here, the following considerations should be made:- 3.1. As mentioned under Para 2, top (first) priority must be given to placement under Shapes and Forms. 3.2 One should not `fit' the sitting positions e.g. of the `office' furniture and as a result; the flow in the dinning room becomes `odd' or bad. 3.3 You should consider, where the `entrance' / window areas are in the dinning room and place furniture that is functional. 3.4 In the dining room; another consideration is the Flying Star and whether the sectors are `balanced'. 3.5 I understand that under your circumstances it is difficult to apply the Eight House concept and this; I feel is of secondary importance as opposed to proper placement under Shapes and Forms. 3.6 If that particular sector is "auspicious" under Flying Star analysis; all the better. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Albert, Thank you for your information. 1. For the graves, once it is exhumed properly and if there are no longer any more graves (left) on the site; the graves would usually not pose a problem. 2. As mentioned earlier, with construction activity that may usually take 2 years or more would effectively, neutralise any of the points under Para 1. 3. Although the land is on a slight depression, I believe normally the developers would first lay the foundation and most likely the car parks would be underground. The first level apartments would normally be higher than the depression. 4. It would be acceptable for the MRT tracks to run parallel (and this would not create Sha Qi) for apartments at the same level as the track. (Usually, the architects would have minimal windows facing the MRT tracks. 5. The rectangular plot of land would be favourable since this piece of the land is quite large. 6. I believe that although this may not be a very auspicious plot of land i.e. viz a viz its location but overall, one can consider purchasing a unit the development. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Mogford, In my opinion, if one considers a small apartment i.e. studio / bachelor's apartment: 1. Usually, the Feng Shui of the building and site should be considered. As this has the greatest influence on the unit i.e. or small apartment. 2. It is difficult to apply Feng Shui concepts especially the Flying Star and even the Eight House theory especially since the apartment is small. However, these concepts can be applied but as mentioned under Para 1; in my opinion, it is still best to relate it to the entire building. 3. One has to remember that majority of times, Feng Shui is applied to a large area and is used to find a city. 4. Under micro Feng Shui, it is the general `wealth' or wealth accumulation that one looks at a site or building. 5. It is best therefore, that small apartments should be sited in e.g. a building that may have `good' Feng Shui. Here it is much easier to analyse the building ... as opposed to a small apartment where nearly everything is close-by. 6. In my opinion, it is difficult of find "geniuine" books (or if any) on the topic of trailers or boats. It is my belief that even in ancient Chinese texts, there are no books on these. For books on boats or warfare.. one could perhaps look at the book by Sun Tzu - Ancient Art of War. One of it's principles also i.e. in attack or defence is related to Feng Shui. 7. One has to look at it this way: Book Authors should not try to create books from `thin' air just to comfort those who live in trailers or boats. This would most likely be a marketing ploy. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Thank God! We do not have to squeeze ourselves ..... like these Chinese in their swimming pools...
  22. Dear Users, This is inscribed on an ancient Chinese tomb...
  23. Many of us are already aware of the various types of "metal" element cures such as: 1. metal windchimes 2. grandfather pendulium clock 3. 6 iching coins string together with a red string and some comes with a red tassle. 4. Personalised copper ruler (sold by some FS practitioners at a marked up price.) Which is still valid as it is still considered as a metal cure. So, what about the use of "metal in salt"? Here, some FS practitioners advice placing 6 iching coins in a container especially a glass container and add water / salt to this combination. Is this valid? Well I personally feel that this is more of a Western practise rather than in the East. It is still valid to do so. However the following consideration: 1. In Asia or countries with high humidity; water has to be constantly `replenished' as the water in this container (added with some salt) vapories fast. This cure would require frequent maintenance. As the owner has to constantly check on the water level and may need to frequently feel up with water again. 2. It would not be ideal to place it at a `dead corner' where there is no ventilation as the reaction of water/salt with metal; could cause some reaction and create some gas emmission. 3. In countries with less humidity; it can still be used and less maintainance. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. I find the article (below) motivational:- Please read on.... Warmest Regards, Cecil Discover the 90/10 Secret: It will change your life by Arlen Busenitz] ----------------------------------------- The 90/10 secret is incredible! Very few know and apply this secret. The result? Millions of people are suffering undeserved stress, trials, problems, and heartache. They never seem to be a success in life. Bad days follow bad days. Terrible things seem to be constantly happening. There is constant stress, lack of joy,and broken ; relationships. Worry consumes time, anger breaks ; friendships, and life seems dreary and is not enjoyed ; to the fullest.. Friends are lost.Life is a bore and ; often seems cruel. Does this describe you? If so, do not be discouraged. You can be different!. Understand and apply the 90/10 secret. It will change ; your life! What is this secret? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react. What does this mean? We really have no control over ; 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane may be late arriving, which ; throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%! How? By your reaction. You cannot control a red light, but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you, YOU can control how you react! Let's use an example. You're eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just happened. What happens next will be determined by how you react. You curse. You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the coffee cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize them for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for ; school. She misses the bus. Your spouse must leave; immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you ; drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit. After a 15 minute delay and throwing $60 (traffic . fine) away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs ; to the building without saying good-bye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find ; you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started ; terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to going home. When you arrive home you find a small wedge in your relationship with ; your spouse and daughter. Why? Because of how you ; reacted in the morning. ; Why did you have a bad day? A) Did the coffee cause it? B) Did your daughter cause it? C) Did the Policeman cause it? D) Did you cause it? The answer is D. You had no control over what ; happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. ; Here is what could have and should have happened. ; Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to ; cry. You gently say "It's OK honey, you just need ; to be more careful next time". Grabbing a towel you ; rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You and your spouse kiss before ; you both go to work. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good a ; day you are having. Notice the difference? Two different scenarios. ; Both started the same. Both ended different. Why? ; Because of how you REACTED. You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% is ; determined by your reaction. ; Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 secret. If someone says something negative about you, do not be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on ; glass. You do not have to let the negative comment affect you! React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out, etc. How do you react if someone cuts you off in ; traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound the steering wheel? (A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off!) Do you curse? Does your blood pressure ; skyrocket? Do you try and bump them? WHO CARES if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why let the blue car ruin your drive. Remember the 90-10 principle, and do not worry about it! You are told you lost your job. Why lose sleep or get irritated? It will work out. Useyour "worrying" energy and time into finding another job. The plane is late. It is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take out your frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on. Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger, etc. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse. You now know the 90-10 secret. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. ============================Disclaimer=============================== Internet email is not a secure communication medium, and we advise that you observe this lack of security when emailing us. 25. Dear SL, 1. I will reply to your second question first with regards to Quantum Leap in Feng Shui. 2. If one is talking about Quantum Leap in countries that have scarcity in land, quantum leap is now harder to achieve. 3. For example, in Singapore, in the olden days or during the 1960's; many who may be quite well off can get hold of a home i.e. a bangalow with plot size of around 9,000 square feet or more. 4. Many of these houses are `whole' houses and such houses have distinctive features especially one where you can observe a house where it has a `head' and body. 5. And the house is sitting on reasonable good sites. 6. Nowadays.. in Singapore, unless you are a millionaire or multi-millonaire cannot afford to own such houses with land scarcity. As a result, many live in flats or apartments with shared common areas. 7. In my opinion, the chance of continuing wealth is high especially if one has such type of house. It also depends on the land area and surrounding sites... 8. Where it concerns such bungalows, especially those with a head, there is a very high chance of prosperity for the breadwinner. Do not however, chop off it's head to rebuilt it. Or making the head too heavy as a result. 9. Therefore, the high probability of sucess is in my opinion a house with a `head'. The head can also be the grand entrance cover such as a car porche of wealthy people where it leads to the main entrance. The above is just an overall summary. It is also dependent on the site. Warmest Regards, Cecil Under the Luck Pillars: Heavenly Stem: Combination join and new element clashes and ten deities are exampined together. Earthly Branch: Three combination directional / two combination new element clashes, harm, punhisment, self puunishment, romance star, movement star, nobelman star, academic satr, arts star ; hidden element, ten dieities, hidden element 2, ten deities 2 ... are looked at to look at the overall result to determine if that luck period is auspicious or requires prevention. This is looked at in relation to the period this seaons falls under. The above will then give a true picture of one's Luck pillars. Warmest Regards, Cecil
