  1. Dear Anon, Perhaps, it would be more convenient to do a search e.g. under Yahoo.com and type in Feng Shui emporium ... I believe it is much easier to buy it from the internet especially in your part of the country. In my country, there are plentiful shops by the dozen scattered in my locations. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Jun, 1. In my region, acquiring a pair of flutes featuring the phoenix and dragon design is quite simple. The phoenix, symbolizing the female, is typically hung on the left side, while the dragon, representing the male, is placed on the right side, as the dragon is associated with the East. The ease of hanging such flutes is due to the importance of ensuring that the design is not inverted, allowing for easy alignment of the mouthpiece with the pictorial representation. 2. It may not be feasible to come across a pair of flutes with similar designs in your country. In my view, if your flute showcases any illustrations, it is essential to ensure that they are not displayed upside down. 3. In the absence of drawings on the pair of flutes, interpretations by various Feng Shui practitioners may vary. However, I believe that as long as the flutes have the correct profile, resembling the trigram outline as depicted in the previous images, the absence of drawings should not pose a significant issue. If further clarification is needed, one can position the mouthpiece accordingly: for the left flute, the mouthpiece should be oriented upwards, and for the right flute, a mirrored orientation should be followed. 4. Placing the flutes just above the sofa seat where one typically sits is considered more precise and effective. Therefore, if the sofa seat is positioned on one side, the flutes should be directly above it, rather than in the middle span if the sofa seat is absent. 5. The positioning of the flutes on either side of the beam does not hold significant importance. I trust that you now have a clearer understanding of the placement guidelines. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Jun, 1. Since this is a concrete beam (earth element) the best element to destroy or neutralise it is the use of the wood element. Where wood destroys earth. 2. A good wood element is shown under the following link:- You can view a sample of the placement of a flute under this url: http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/imagesearch.cgi?img=0&search=flute&cat=all&x=34&y=7 3. You will notice that the flute is placed as:- ------ / \ / \ is that it also resembles the top half of the Ba Gua trigram. 4. If the beam is a wooden beam, then the best element to neutralise it is the use of metal element such as using the i-ching coins. Some practioners use round coins or `star' shaped metal coins. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Joyce, 1. I am not sure if you are familiar with the atttached method of finding the main door of the house:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm 2. If you have the layout plan and have difficulty finding the centrepoint e.g. especially if the house has many missing corners, then you - scan and attached it to this forum for me to help locate the centrepoint. Alternatively, you can email me for my fax no. (if need be). 3. I believe, the description you mentioned in finding the main entrance may not be `correct' as what I can understand. You need to be at the centrepoint of the house and from there, find the direction of the main entrance door. There may be deviations in compass reading especially from a compass with smaller mass (e.g. if one is close to 1 metre from the wall especially if it has steel or metal in it). 4. If you can properly obtain the main entrance, you can e-mail to robert-lee@3dmail.com where, I asked him to provide you with a free credit for a Paid Report to help your friend. Thank you for taking the effort to help your friend. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Lin Nah, 1. As a reference we can look at this url: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm 2. There is a manual version of the Eight House Theory or Concept. For a West house person: favourable: West, NW, NE and SW. (ref: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/west.htm ) For a East house person: favourable: East, North, South & SE (ref: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/east.htm ) 3. The above matches your description of the East House person. 4. In my opinion, it is not true that a "WEST" person have to stay in an EAST house. Perhaps, you have to properly clarify what you mean by an " WEST " person. Do you mean that a WEST person = or not equal to the term " East House ". 5. Whenever we try to understand a concept either from a specific book or many books, the terminology may not be the same or similar. 6. It is advisable to read and understand the concept of what the author is trying to say. Rather than to `mix' and match similar terms from various authors. 7. You mentioned "It will mean that if i'm a West Person but have to stay in a EAST house, " Based on what I read here, this is not `correct'. 8. A West person should instead preferably stay in a `West House'. Which is a home where the entrance door is located at either West, NW, NE and SW. And as far as possible the locations where a West person spends time at should be auspicious. Preferably the bed is located at a good sector such as NW, NE or SW if the main entrance door is at e.g. West. 9. There are also priorities and ranking in Feng Shui: 9.1 Is it more important to `face' a good direction or sleep in an auspicious sector? 10. In my opinion, it is best that the house adhere firstly to good Shapes and Forms. Especially the bedroom. For example: The bed should preferably be against a wall; try not to have the bed on the same wall as the bedroom door etc... Only after the about "condition " has been satisifed should we then look at where we sleep. If possible, the bed should be at an auspicious location. If not... kind of -- "Too bad". Alternatively, let the spouse sleep closer to the good sector and the person sleep further away or next to the spouse. 11. After having `satisfied' the above condition, then it is NICE to have, one sleep `facing' a good direction. 12. Holistic Feng Shui is similar to taking an examination. This is where we have to try to score marks in all `questions' or areas. For example: if the examination questions is divided into three sections: 1. Shapes and Form (Exterior and Interior) - 50 marks. 2. Eight House - 25 marks 3. Flying star of the house - 25 marks It is no point scoring full marks for the Eight House' test i.e. 25 marks and failing the rest. This is where most of us get the wrong idea of Feng Shui and simply concentrate (like mad) on just one area forgetting the rest. We can't just drive away a car without the " four wheels! ". Every component in the car is just as important! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Anon, 1. Thank you for your layout plan. 2. Attached please find my comments in the attached file below. 3. Priority is to place the bed based on Shapes and Forms school first. It would be nice to have, it if it can match your Gua no. but priority must be given to proper placement as shown in the attached layout. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Honz, 1. Frankly in my opinion, it is very difficult to apply `corner' theory such as the feel that a sector or corner is the `Helpful People' or `Fame/Partnership' sector etc.. 2. If we fully analysise `corner/sector' " Feng Shui ", it looks like all areas need to be enhanced. 3. One has to becareful of such a theory because, we end up trying to `decorate' seems like all areas of the home. 4. There is really not much one can do, if a toilet is not in a good position other than to comfort ourselves by either closing the toilet door, making it more bright / dry and some go to the extend of covering the toilet bowl each time when it is not in use. 5. For a small studio apartment, usually, it is much harder to apply "interior" Feng Shui concepts even if we use such things as `corner' FS. When we have a small apartment, every corner we `meet' ends up as `problem' areas. 6. For a small apartment, I feel that what is more important is: 6.1 to neutralise any threats if any towards the frontage or windows of the home. 6.2 generally, such apartments should be cosy and not overly cluttered. 6.3 to best harmonise the house, one can look at one's element and strength and then relook at the home. For example, the ba zi of the person can be further understood and related to the house i.e. a weak wood person, would perhaps, try to use the five elements concept and apply elements such as water and wood. Or to further enhance one's self. Such as clothings. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Wasis, We live in a practical world and many of us should not be deprived of books (some of us loved so much). For `bookworms' or those who simply love books, would be surrounded by them. Therefore, the only practical advise is to keep them neatly.. it would be good to have them kept inside bookshelves. If one has open bookshelves, so much the better. Although it is said that books are like knives, I could try to avoid placing it facing the bed. If one's bedroom has sufficient room for the bed and a separate area for say the study area or small corner bookself, facing away from the bed, the better. Else, for many people, it is still acceptable here. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. To the Chinese, it is unlucky to give especially someone: 1. A clock. 2. A pair of shoes. But since this is a watch.. it dwells more on beliefs or coincidences. But generally, it is felt that giving knives is not good since it is symbolic of sharp or pointed objects. Nevertheless, as relationships are built on communication, trust and interaction of the two parties, if you want to try to continue with your relationship, should perhaps, have a `hard to hard' talk with your ex-boyfriend and see how things goes.... Warmest Regards Cecil
  10. Dear Brenda, Yes, a small decorative screen next to the toilet so long as it is sufficent to block the view of the toilet and not the whole bathroom would suffice i.e. OK. For a mirror facing the front door normally this would not be advisable as it would reflect Qi or disperse Qi and may not be that advisable. It also depends on other factors i.e. distance to the door etc... If a mirror has to be used, a sloping mirror (similiar to those found at some shop shops for customers to view a pair of shoes) i.e. sloping would be an alternative where it is not perpenticular to the door. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Latha, One may have to determine how long one has been married. In my opinion, although there are references to pregancy under the Flying Star chart where the combinations of the mountain and water star interact to give an interpretation. However, with advancement in the science of fertility, it is best to seek the advice of doctors in this specialised field praticularly if one has been married for more that 3 years and have difficulty in conceiving. Thus in my opinion, it is more worthwhile to spent money seeking fertility advise than to rely on FS. Or follow some of the methods used such as taking the temperature to check for ovaiation etc... I believe, more success can be attributed to this then to rely on `FS'. Which is again not a `cure all'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, it is difficult to the energy from an existing home to a new home. 2. As you mentioned, the best `enegry' is the `energy' or the memories in one's mind and the minds of people who lived in that home. 3. For cleansing a home, especially a new home: 3.1 Often, salt is used or sprinkled more often in the toilet area or corners of the home. 3.2 For the Chinese, many use rice and sprinkle them throughout the home. 3.3 Others invite e.g. Priests or monks/nuns etc... 4. As for cleansing an existing home, this is not usually done by the previous home owner but rather the new home owners and may follow Steps 3.1 ... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Elaine, In my opinion, I do not see any problems in installing the medium shutter for the windows. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, there is a major flaw in wanting to apply sector/area or corner Feng Shui. 2. For example, how is it that everyone's career area is in a fixed position? For example in the north? 3. This kind of theory cannot hold for everyone and it does not make sense to `pay homage' to this sector. 4. Overall, many a questions were asked as to how can I improve my `career' or `wealth'? Can Feng Shui provide the answer to this? 5. We have to understand that Feng Shui is about bringing in harmony to the house and MAY not be directly related to career or wealth. 6. What does all this mean? If one wants to use Feng Shui one has to remember that with proper use, it helps to bring about a healthy mind and body. With this pre-requiste can we than help ourselves to achieve success or to better ourselves. 7. Thus, Feng Shui is not a `cure all' or should not `automatically' mean that we can get great fortune or wealth just by waiting.. 8. In career, there may be other variables involved:- 8.1 Our interest in the job? No doubt our aim is to make money but does one current enjoy the work? 8.2 Constant training and upgrading? Are we better prepared for structural unemployment? There are many other variables related to the job and we should focus more on how we can improve ourselves to meet the demands of our job. Or to attain training and perhaps, look for other jobs. (Subject to business downturns etc..) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Raju, For a person who is a `weak earth', a water position such as a fish tank is neutral to your element. Here are some guidelines to the placement of a fish tank: 1. One method is to use the Flying Star to analyse each sector of the house for imbalances. 2. If one does not want to use method 2, then, the most common method is: 2.1 Shapes and Forms The fish tank can be placed in the living room or a private room. Avoid placing it in a study room as it may be distract the person studying in the room. 2.2 One School of Feng Shui feels that the stand of the fish stand should match the location e.g. a black stand at the North; a Green or Brown stand at the East etc... I feel that this is optional. 2.3 Avoid using a triangular fish tank. A triangle fish tank is not compatible. 2.4 `By feel' or trial and error. For example, place the fish tank at SE corner and if there is `no adverse' effect after one month, this is normally acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Wendy, 1. Since you already have confirmed moving into the home, yes, you can check out the house orientation viz a viz the main entrance door after you have moved into the house. 2. In macro Feng Shui, the best method to determine how good the site is; is to look at the overall city or county where your home is located. 3. We have to remember here that macro Feng Shui is important. The general well being of family households lies with the location i.e. city / county that one's home is located. 4. Next, the external environment of your home. As you had mentioned, your house is shielded by a large hill. 5. In general, the prosperity of not only your house but your neighbours in your location is equally important. As for the military base, it has to be looked at in relation to your whole county. 6. I do have the same predicament, each time, I want to move or change house. I would aways try to visualise where I can place many of my favourite display figurines such as the buddha statue etc.... 7. I feel that the easiest to find a suitable place for them is to `treat' these figurines or statues as part of your home decorative items. 8. Since you are proud and happy with them, place them as displays where you find comfortable with. Usually, this can be in the living room area or if you have a special room or family room, you can display them with their back behind a wall etc... Wishing you and your family Health, Wealth and Prosperity! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Yijun, 1. You have not mentioned whether you are a person with `Strong' or `Weak' water. 2. If you are a person with Strong Water element, then earth can help. For example, under the Five elements concept, Earth destroys Water. So if you are a person with Strong Water, earth can be used to exhaust your Strong Water. And this would be beneficial to you. 3. If you are instead, a person with Weak Water, you should not add too much Earth. As Earth can futher weaken your Weak water element. 4. If one is trying to add earth element, one should be more `careful' since it is not advisable to introduce Earth element to sectors in the home especially if one had not done a FS audit to determine where the two bad element elements: #5 Misfortune and #2 Sickness which are both very bad Earth elements. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Anon, The best option (if you can) is to place a partition between the door and the toilet entrance. The partition can either be closer to the toilet area or the main entrance door. If the layout of your home is `L' shaped, it would be good to break the room into two `rectangles' using a divider. If you are using a divider to block the view of the toilet/ main entrance, it need not necessarily be of full height i.e. not necessary to be up to the height of the ceiling. So long as if one stands at the main entrance and cannot see the toilet door it (the toilet door) no longer becomes a `threat' or Sha Qi. The other option is to close the toilet door when not in use. This can be done individually or inconjunction with a partition height. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Faten, 1. Feng Shui and other Chinese divinity methods is about trying to increase our `LUCK'. 2. Overall, we have commented usually only about the interior of the home. 3. Factors such as the Shapes and Form of the site, the external environment need to be taken into consideration. Plus other `LUCK' factors that may not have been taken into consideration. 4. Therefore, as you had mentioned only, we are currently `focused' only about part of the `LUCK' or a percentage of the overall `LUCK'. Thus one may still achieve overall luck in other areas. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Anon, It is good to use a white primer first. Although it has nothing to do with FS. As long as the colour has been changed; what cannot be seen can no longer `influence' or be used. Therefore, by painting the wall rosy beige, it will be `influnenced' by this colour. Therefore, in my opinion, it does not matter that you have to remove the black paint first. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Anon, 1. Please confirm, by standing at the front door area facing out of the house. Does the lampost or tree seem to `slice' thru the front door? 2. You mentioned that "the tree with lampost behind it. Do you mean that the lampost is furthest away and is blocked by the tree which in turn; can be seen `slicing' the front door? If so, you can place two potted plants on both sides of the front door. Or, if you do not like the above option, you can hang a Ba Gua mirror above the front door. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. 1. Further to what I mentioned earlier, it is always good to exercise moderation when applying Feng Shui. 2. It should not be a case where we turn our lives `upside' down trying to `fit' ourselves to meet FS standards. But rather, we should exercise moderation, when applying Feng Shui. 3. Many of us, read widely about the `Do's and Don'ts' of FS. For many people, they simply carry on with their daily lifes after applying some of the best FS practises. 4. If we take FS `too seriously' it results in only the equivalent of trying to do "interior decoration" to our home or control our lives. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Penny, In Feng Shui, many of us try to apply what is generally good for everyone i.e. where it works for most of us. In many other cases, it need not necessary be a `bad' practise to some of us. For example:- 1. It is mentioned that it is not advisable to place a mirror facing the bed. Some of us are more sensitive to this issue and feel uncomfortable with a mirror at such a location. For some others, there is no problem or `issue' with placing a mirror facing the bed. 2. In your case, for example, if you have for many years or months, have been placing a plant in your bedrooom without any ill effects, you may continue to place it rather than to use an artificial plant. If you ask an experienced Feng Shui practitioner or Master; they would be trying their best to apply " BEST " practises that WORKs most of the time for MOST people. And try to discard, practises that do not often work. Looking at the bedroom, there are many variables involved i.e. the location of the bedroom i.e. West facing ? North facing? East facing? For example, a west facing bedroom may tend to become hot especially if part of the wall soaks in sun light and in the evening, the wall could still retain the `heat' etc... Each of us have different degrees of `tolerance' with regards to the balance of Yin over Yang. For some of us, we cannot stand a too yang bedroom while for some others, they prefer a slightly more yang bedroom even if yin is the preferred choice for rest. Thus, one good lesson here is to remember that each of our circumstances may differ. For a situation where, e.g. a plant is suppose to create more yang (growing) than yin but if there is no `negative' effects on us, this can be acceptable. We should therefore, try to see whether FS can suit our circumstances and it does not automatically mean that what is `bad' for some may be `bad' for others. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear A B, Under traditional Feng Shui, many FS practitioners would recommend that the bedroom colours be in harmony with the element of the child. In addition, the bed should be placed in a favourable position. The study table should face the child's good direction. (All these come under the Eight House theory). The understanding of Yin and Yang concept is equally important. For the bedroom especially for an adult, the bedroom should normally be more `Yin' than yang. As this should be the place of rest for an adult. Unless the adult is taking up studies and staying e.g. in a dormitory. Where, there should be a balance between yin and yang. For a child's bedroom (who is growing up), it is best to have the bedroom more `yang' e.g. brighter colours (wall) or furniture), room full of toys .... In my opinion, bunk beds are acceptable in a children's room. As to whether it is Shui? Not too sure, what you meant by this. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Viren, In my opinion, it is best to relook at your Marketing and Sales strategy, first. Here, `packaging' of your product and how it can achieve sales through the distribution channels. As Feng Shui or Chinese divinity methods, emcompass a wide field especially for a company. It is harder to apply Feng Shui or Chinese divinity methods as a full scale of methods i.e. depth and breath may have to be used such as analysis of : owner(s); the company's location; the owner(s) Pillars; the owner's home. In fact, a whole barrage of Feng Shui and Chinese divinity methods may have to be used in a holistic way in order to improve one's `luck' or the company's luck. What I feel therefore, is that it is much easier for you and your company to look at your company's strategies and focus on marketing aspects rather than FS, at the moment. In my opinion, please try to avoid `Fast Food Feng Shui'; although they may be tempting but... may not achieve what you wanted to do. Warmest Regards, Cecil
