  2. Around Queenstown The Queenstown Public Library is Singapore's first full-time branch library. It was officially opened on 30 April 1970 by then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew to provide access to books which most people could not afford to buy and to supplement the National Library's mobile library services. These mobile libraries used to ply along Margaret Drive and the former Queenstown Community Centre at Dawson Road. Designed in the Modern style, the Queenstown Public Library is a two-storey building with an austere front facade relieved by a refined "bow-tie" motif along the parapets and a pre-assembled sun-shading block on its concrete frame. The building also uses glass panels generously which allow the reading rooms to be naturally lit. The ground level of the library originally contained a book exhibition area, central foyer and large room for children, including a reference area and story-telling room. The first floor had an adult and young people's room, including a reference area and a lecture and discussion room. The installation of air-conditioning in 1978 provided additional comfort to library users. The library has been a sanctuary for members of the community over the years. There were several schools along Margaret Drive in the 1970s and students from the neighbourhood would visit the library for research and leisure. At the loan desks, patrons would present their library cards and staff would manually record the titles to be borrowed before filing them according to their due dates. Following major renovation works in 2003, the library has become more user-friendly. An elevator was installed, the lighting was improved and a cafeteria was introduced. The library was gazetted for conservation in 2013. Mdm Norsiah binte Abdul Sukor, a Senior Library Officer at Queenstown Public Library, recalled: "Throughout the years, many ex-residents have returned to the library and bought us kueh kueh even though they have shifted out of the estate. Besides being an identity marker, the library certainly holds fond memories for past and present residents". More photos… Iconic market and food centre! Only the semi circular distinctive frames were recycled… seen here

  7. Sometimes stigmas come from personal experience! True? Case Study 3: This is not directly Feng Shui. But personally, I don't like living in an "afternoon" sun home. 1. In fact stacks 117 and 133 unfortunately is as close to directly facing the afternoon sun. (Even if it faces a park = don't want) 2. While Stacks 119 and 135 gets the afternoon sun at an acute angle + the master bedroom wall may soak in heat and ooze out in the evening. 3. Imagine also if one were to Work from Home WFH and/or having children study in their respective bedrooms or even at the living or dining room. Sucks! 4. Of course if can afford turning on the air-con daily "Clap, clap, clap". However, the utilities company will love it! They can collect more $$$. 5. In directly, living 24/7 in a "hot house" may sometimes make family members so uncomfortable that unfortunately tempers may flare up more frequently! 6. Don't later complaint and say this house got BAD Feng Shui. As we have more quarrels in this house then in our previous home! Related:
  8. These two photos shows the wrong method to take compass readings of a home: There are just too many metallic interference. Even unseen and embedded into the walls
  9. Case Study 4A: High floors preferred for stacks 540 and 542 these two stacks living room directly faces the entrance/exit to the HDB Parc Glen development Case Study 4B: This entrance/exit is not so bad. But if possible avoid low floors e.g. #02-515
  10. Case Study 4: An In-depth understanding of the Frontage of a home. Is it always the main door? Who are the Conservatives & the Modernist. What lead to the Conservatives use of the Main Door only? 1. Who are the Conservatives and the Modernists? 2. An in-depth understanding of why the Conservatives has misunderstood the knowledge passed down by the ancients. https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/16637-an-in-depth-understanding-of-the-frontage-of-a-home-is-it-always-the-main-door-who-are-the-conservatives-the-modernist-what-lead-to-the-conservatives-use-of-the-main-door-only/
  11. Case Study 3: "Point-blocks" or Pencil Blocks were very popular in the mid 1970's. These flats range from HDB 5 bedrooms around 1,400 sq ft. to Housing and Urban Development Board (HUDC) Laguna Park and Braddel with Type A 1,400 sq ft to 1,600 sq ft Type B flats. 1. Point-block flats have favourable Shapes and Forms Feng Shui as qi circulation is very good for such "pencil" thin blocks +they are more like (landed) detached homes in the sky! 2. Worth considering depending on the facing direction of these flats. Reference Resource:
  12. Case Study 2: South (S2) facing? Possible for the inauspicious Fire @ Heaven's Gate 1. For example, closer look is needed to check whether stacks like 100, 110, 101 & 121. 2. Learn more about Fire @ Heaven's Gate:

  19. Case Study 1A: In general which is more lucky? A Period 9 North (N2) facing or South (S2) facing units? 1. HDB River Peaks I and II only have units that either face N2 or S2. 2. In Period 9, N2 units are generally considered more auspicious as due to the double auspicious #9's at it's frontage (N2). Yellow = N2 facing stacks/units 3. Good news is that this plus Shapes and Forms Feng Shui account for a whopping 70% out of 100% score in evaluating the Feng Shui of a home. Case Study 1B: What happens to the remainder 30%? 4. The remainder 30% or 30 marks out of 30 marks is on how suitable the unit is to the main breadwinner. 5. And the three (3) major considerations are (a.) Frontage, (b.) Kitchen and (c.) Main Bedroom: 6. Once a unit is considered unsuitable to the main breadwinner, often there is no way that the unit can achieve either an A+, A or B+ score. 7. Geomancy.net uses this grading still used by many tertiary institutions to grade their students:-
  20. Case Study 1: The bad news? Some stacks/units facing especially the Chinese Temple + Home for the Aged Sick. Okay not so bad as the Multi Storey Car Park (MSCP) acts a a buffer to the Health and Medical Centre. The good news? Okay it is either separated by both the neighbourhood park + road or just a road such as Hougang Street 13.

  23. Case Study 2: Another temptation? How about a unit facing a park + waterbody + another park? (Higher floors to avoid the slight traffic noise along Tengah Road What a find! "Sounds good, right?" "Can consider?"
