  1. Dear Val, Thank you for sharing with us information about yourself:) Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'feng-shui-tips' suppressed 'feng-shui-tips' suppressed> Date: Tuesday, April 20, 1999 3:16 AM Subject: Poison Arrows and crystals Dear Val, In my personal opinion, for a newbee, I recommend that you can apply the Bagua (Eight House Theory or East Four / West Four Group) as this is one of the most popular Compass School technique: 1. The purpose is to look at the suitability of the house to the individual and 2. Sleep, work and study.. facing a good direction. This technique takes into account your personal kua (individualized for a person). The only thing is that some more advanced Feng Shui Practioners would use the Flying Star Theory. The difference is that the Eight House Theory does not take into account the date of birth of the house when `evaluating' a house. But, this is a very practical theory, which has it's own use as shown under Para 1. and 2. (above). If I were you, try not to practice `too much' of the Eight Aspirations or Life Aspirations or Associations as this does not even take into account a person's kua number. Most Feng Shui writers, continue to write on Eight Aspirations but this is too basic a theory to apply and if you notice, it is applied to every one. Here, we have to question: Does it really make sense to apply so generally to everyone? So, you should pay attention to these Feng Shui Schools:- 1. Shapes and Form School (Theories, some commonsense and intuition) 2. Eight House (when you are new but remember, its purpose is to find a `suitable' home) 3. Flying Star: Looks at the birth chart of the house. The above are without question the three most popular `Schools' of Feng Shui and to be effective, you should apply all three schools. It can be quite subjective. But in my personal opinion, if the furniture is large, a `rounded slightly' edge is still considered a `threat'. The `ideal' dining table is considered to be made of wood. This is because, other materials e.g. glass and even plastic can be considered a metal element and not as ideal for a dining table. Here, you have to be `careful' with the word crystals = earth element. This is because, Feng Shui is also about Symbolism. Let me take an example. If your crystal is in the shape of a pyramid, some FS practioners will now consider the crystal has taken a shape and consider it a `Fire' element because of the pointed triangular shape. In the Far East, most Feng Shui practioners quote a fee for consultation and do not add extras. For example, a fee of $588 to do a FS audit (without any hidden costs or extras). I understand, in other countries, some FS practioners will charge a fee e.g. $488 but `hidden behind' this cost is an arsenal of Feng Shui products that they sell. Here you have to be careful. Some may simply ask you to hang a crystal or a metal windchime and then add the costs to your Feng Shui audit fee. Most likely in the above case, you will end up paying more and you may not be sure if the crystal is REALLY needed or not. In my opinion, where best, don't because a book says to place a crystal, we must place it in every room. This is because if you have done a Flying Star Analysis, (by the way, this is the most powerful Feng Shui method) as it is based on numerology, it can be used to locate a mountain star or a water star. If you have a mountain star at a location, you can then activate it. I will not go further on the Flying Star as you can search for this information on this website. Do take note that most of Lillian Too's books are good because she can `impart' knowlege easily with both graphics and are well summarized. But a few Feng Shui practioners/teachers have voiced out that in their opinion, some of the materials in her books may have been `invented' by her. Nevertheless, if you are a newbee, feel free to continue to read good books but always have an open mind and my advise is also to read as widely as possible. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Clancy, I have a link to several sites concerning the subject of the Southern Hemisphere. The url is: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/addsites.htm =========================== Extracted from the above webpage ========================== 1. Can Feng Shui be applied to the Southern Hemisphere without modifications? The general consensus is that there is NO need to modify for the Southern Hemisphere! Do read on.... a. Master Joseph Yu of astro-fengshui.com says "Yes. There is no need to modify the conventional technique". c. Ray Harris shares the same view that there is no need to modify the conventional technique His views (from the above article) are as follows:- The 'Southern' School can be regarded as false for the following reasons. 1. The climate argument does not apply to all climates of a given hemisphere. 2. The seasonal associations of the Ba Gua are only coincidental for temperate zones in the Northern Hemisphere. They must therefore be regarded as incidental and not primary associations. 3. The altered Ba Gua places Li in the position of magnetic and celestial north, which is directly contrary to their traditional meaning. 4. The traditional associations remain valid when considered globally. 5. The 'Southern' School contains logical absurdities. 6. No conclusive proof has been offered to validate the different 'Southern' theories. They therefore remain mere hearsay. 7. The advocates of the 'Southern' School have not provided a consensus system. Each advocate has their own variation, some of which seriously contradict each other. d. Ray Harris article 2 is an excerpt of his correspondence with Lindy Baxter with his point-by-point rebuttal over the `flawed' Southern Hemisphere model. After you have read his second article 2, Ray Harris states that he and Master Yu does not agree with the views given by the two of the major proponents of the Southern Hemisphere School. (Lindy Baxter and Roger Green). ======================================================================== Please check out the above link. Personally, I also do not believe that there is a need to `cater' to the Southern Hemisphere. 3. Dear Kieon First, let me congratulate you on your new home:) From your description, a square room is considered an excellent layout. In Feng Shui, yes, it is unfavourable to have a slanted ceiling as you have mentioned, this creates unfavourable qi in that area. There are few cures and only two are available:- 1. A `poster' bed with four pillars and for the `roof' of the poster bed, one can place a cloth material. This will act as a false ceiling. 2. False ceiling to level the roof. Frankly, the above are the two `best' cures for this situation. Other than the above, for the moment, I can't recall any other more effective `cures'. 3. If there is a beam above the slanted ceiling (don't think so here), you can purchase two bamboo flutes and hang them on the beam. 4. Hi, What you have done is already OK. If the apartment was occupied by someone who died of old age, there is usually really no concern. One fine day, everyone has to die of old age. Unless the death is due to other circumstances. If this is not the case, don't worry too much:) Send my regards to your relative:) Warmest Regards, Cecil -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'discussion-session' suppressed 'discussion-session' suppressed> Date: Saturday, April 17, 1999 8:13 AM Subject: New Apartment needs cleansing
  5. Dear Barbara, Thanks for your kind words. Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'eight-house' suppressed suppressed> Date: Sunday, April 18, 1999 1:51 AM Subject: Directions and Room Use You can place the filing cabinets at the true North. but I do not recommend use of miror at the NW and NE points as the intangible forces cannot be activated this way. The only way is to sit closer to the good intangible force location. Mirrors if used wrongly can `bounce' back double the bad luck so becareful here. As I mentioned, the Eight House only looks at how suitable are you to your home but it does not take into account whether under the birth chart of the house, it is a suitable location. For example, if under the Flying Star Chart of your house, and the NW happens to be your " sickness " location, one would be in serious trouble to use a `cure' such as a mirror. If in doubt, it is best to consult a Feng Shui practioner before putting up anything. Under the Eight House theory, if it is the `disaster' location, it is difficult to avoid it using `cures'. Since you are a weak wood person, the best elements that help you are: 1. Water element 2. Wood element 3. Metal element (helps water to grow and in turn helps wood to grow) - Compound help. If your office is at the North, ideal colours are: Blue, grey or black. This can be the decor, your dressing etc Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Emma, Hope you can further elaborate. Are you referring to the number 2 after doing a Flying Star chart and you have a 2 influence at a specific location. Or are you referring to your address 2110. This is because " house numbering " method to see if a house is auspicious or inauspicious is not a good method of checking a house's birth chart. This is because, today, many Professional Feng Shui Masters use the Flying Star Analysis to find out e.g. the 2 or 5 bad stars are and if they had combined together in a location. Here, the difference, we cannot just look at the house number and come to some `conclusion'. But rather, combine the two schools of Feng Shui e.g. Shapes and Form and Compass School to evaluate a house. Although the house numbering system we have for flats or apartments falls under the Flying Star theory, it is but one small component and less important to the above. Hope the above helps. 7. Dear Siu Wong, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Wednesday, April 14, 1999 6:16 PM Subject: Feng shui in the bedroom Frankly, the application of Feng Shui in the past was focused more on macro level e.g. the situation of an entire city etc... Only nowadays, as Feng Shui became `more lucrative' or we would like to be `comforted' by the thoughts that where we spent our time or at a specific location, could help us in our studies. For the young, especially those who are studying, my feeling is that it really does not matter i.e. to follow advise as where are my good and bad locations but rather, we should continue to find the best and most comfortable way to study and create that environment. In Feng Shui, the only consideration if you really want to follow Feng Shui principles is where possible sit facing one of your good locations. But if you enjoy studying on a bed but not on the table, that is equally fine. What I really mean is that to `go with the flow' or your natural `instincts' or intuition. This will be a better Feng Shui method. bad practice? For one, where possible two mirrors must not face each other. Avoid having too many mirrors in a small room especially if you can see your reflection e.g. from your bed. However, if you feel comfortable with it, then it is perfectly OK. As you stay in a dorm, you cannot really help if the toilet bowl shares a wall with your bed. It would be good to leave a small gap here. Here, you can easily use a `cloth' book cover. For example, a floral design or some nice curtain material. This can easily be washed when it gets dirty. Depending on your `lifestyle' more inclined towards being extrovert or introvert. If you more outgoing, than, depending on your taste, you can paste a poster of whatever you like. If you are introvert, you can place a picture frame of your loved ones etc.... You can play around with the Yin and yang concept. Yin is also known as state of rest. While Yang, more lively e.g. have a portable radio, walkman etc... Good Luck in your studies. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee
  8. Dear Jody, I feel that currently, because of the small size of the tree, it will not pose too much of a `threat' to the house. At this stage of growth (of the tree), you may seriously want to consider, replanting it away from your main entrance area as it will one day bound to grow bigger. Although it is not a `threat' today, but it will be one day. When it grows taller, and if you do not decide to re-plant it, then I suggest, you may have to consider a `cure'. For example, placing a semi-circular carpet at the main entrance door area radiating outwards. 9. Dear Garance, There are three Feng Shui emporiums in "The Feng Shui Awards" Page. If you have the time, check out these emporiums. I have a link at this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/award.htm I am sure, you can find your Luo Pan. I am not mistaken, in the above award page, check out " Roger Green's" site, in the past, I remember him selling an English version but I remembered it was quite expensive at $4xx.00USD (Cannot really remember this). Alternatively, you can buy a Plastic Feng Shui kit by Kwok Man Ho, I have a link in the books section i.e. http://www.geomancy.net/books/fs.htm Another alternative is to get the book Feng Shui by Derek Walters. 10. Dear Jody, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Monday, April 12, 1999 10:45 PM Subject: Tree In front of front door and other problems 1. When you stand at the main entrance door, do you see the tree in your view or is it on the right or left of the house? 2. Can you also let me know how tall is the tree and how thick is the tree trunk. 3. What is the estimated distance between this small tree to your main entrance door. The above would help me further:) On paper, it does clash with the south wall. However, I have very little information about yourself. Are you a Fire element person for example. Without much analysis of a person's information e.g. how strong your pillars of destiny element, where is the main door located... these are very useful information to tell whether it suits you and your home. For example, if you are a strong Fire element person and so happens that the main door is also at this south wall, this water helps to `cool' you down. For the kitchen, more importantly make sure that the stove or any metal utensils particularly, cutlery e.g. knifes, fork etc... are not in `full' view of the main door. The refrigerator is acceptable. Where possible, if you have a low partition or a `divider' e.g. seats between the living room door and the kitchen is ideal. For the bathroom door, the only thing you can do here is to close the bathroom door when not in use. This is particularly so if you can see the toilet bowl when you open the bathroom door. Where possible the toilet bowl should not the first to be seen when you open the toilet door. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Gerald, I am not sure whether are you working or studying. Normally for a bedroom or a studio apartment, it should be more Yin or `state of rest'. Therefore the type of environment would depend on what you are currently doing i.e this depends on whether you are studying (plus your study habits) i.e. in a dormitory or you are working and returning home to rest. Other than the above, check the lighting in the room. The type of light could affect the environment around you. If you are a student and often study in the room, it is good to have a small hifi or portable radio in your room. Music does create a `more yang environment'. Here the essence of a small studio apartment is to create either: 1. a more yang environment 2. a more yin environment but overall, there must be a `balance' of both because you also need rest or sleep. Yang environment would suggest, bold colours, music, activity, bright lights in the house or natural lighting, hanging of colourful posters etc.. Yin would suggest a quieter environment e.g. lower lighting conditions, pale colours, placing a picture of loved ones, soothing sounds etc... etc... 12. Dear Sarah, Hope you can further describe `how level' is the house in relation to the surroundings? For example to the Chinese, an inverted `wok' (those found in the kitchen) is an ideal way to represent a good `site'. Your site should be where possible higher or level the surrounding land. Hope you can describe more in detail for me to fully comprehend and make `better' judgement. Perhaps, you can describe to me what you see on four sides of the site e.g. the back, the front, the right and the left. I hope this is not too much to ask but, I feel the more details the better... erh.. don't want to give wrong advice:) Warmest Regards, Cecil -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'discussion-session' suppressed 'discussion-session' suppressed> Date: Monday, April 12, 1999 7:18 PM Subject: My house was built on a drained lake site. 13. Dear Eve, Further to my earlier message, I forgot to mention the most important point is that is the Year Chart mentioned earlier is only using the Base ( Luo Shu Sqaure ) for this year only. However, the personalised Luo Shu Chart of a house takes into consideration two stars above the number. For example, as we know that this is currently period 7, and from the example below (not a real one but a sample):- 5 3 7 Here, there is a base number and on top of it, No. 5 and No. 3. In the personalised Flying Star Chart, we need to compare the `mountain' and `water' star with each other. When there is a good match, and depending on the interpretation of the two stars, this is an auspicious, very auspicous or a location where we can `activate' say the mountain or water star. Therefore, it is a question of going into indept analysis, the `deeper' the analysis and the shorter the `time' of analysis e.g. a year as opposed to say a month or a day or an hour or minute do make a difference. 14. Dear Toni, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'discussion-session' suppressed 'discussion-session' suppressed> Date: Sunday, April 11, 1999 9:05 PM Subject: Re: Yin & Yang Feng Shui Yes, I agree with you. Recently, there are quite alot of correspondence on this. I understand that it is rather confusing to follow. One minute, it is this and another minute another interpretation. Let me elaborate further:- 1. First forget what we have understood of the differences on this subject. The reason for using this model e.g. a dragon, tiger, tortise or phoenix is that it is easier to explain things using a picture or a `pictorial model'. The saying goes: " A picture tells or paints a thousand words ". To me, I feel that this is why, there are so many different uses for the above Four Symbolic Animals Concept. This is why, some like me prefer to add the word " Symbolic " into this model. In the recent Applied Feng Shui course, I even listed a third use of the 4 Symbolic Animals Concept and during the last forum message on this, one user also brought up another usage by an author .. whose Chinese Surname is Wu. Due to the simplicity of a picture `within' a picture, this will explain why we can be confused with the same model used by e.g. the two schools e.g. Shapes and Form and Compass School Feng Shui. Actually in the Applied Feng Shui course, I gave a further distinction to the students so that in the future, if they were to graduate or go into practise, they can use what I have suggested both in writing books or in their practise:- If we are only refering to it under the Shapes and Form School, Simply call them (without their colours) e.g. Dragon, Tiger, Tortise and Phoenix or Bird. (by the way there is a centre animal called the Snake). But if it is applied under the Compass School, do call them : GREEN Dragon, WHITE tiger, BLACK tortise, RED Phoenix. Why is the distinction? This will answer your earlier question. Under the Five elements concept, each colour represents a direction. For example GREEN = EAST, WHITE = WEST (true cardinal point) etc... Here, you will now see the distinction. When we simply use the words, dragon, tiger, etc.. under the Shapes and Form School, we no longer see that there is a colour `profile' attached to the words and thus I hope, we will no longer be confused that e.g. RED must be the South etc.... Therefore, since there is no longer a direction attached to each animals under this method, some one like an author can then put forth a clear meaning e.g. the Phoenix represents `clear space' and should be at the front and the tortise, symbollic of "solid support " Hope the above helps you to understand better. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Elizabeth, As a guideline:- 1. The aquarium, most not be placed at the centre-point of the house. 2. Preferable that it should not be placed in the dining room. As you mentioned, it is acceptable to place the aquarium in the family room and on the `surface' it looks a sensible location to be placed. Where possible, if your house has an `L' shape configuration, symbolically, or through use of partition to `change' it to a square or rectangle shaped. This configuration is still the best. 16. Dear Jon, Please note that the example provided in under http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm is only an example. Here are some guidelines:- 1. Always take a reading from outside the house. E.g. on a vacant plot and take a compass reading. 2. Remember not to wear jewellery. And even if you take a reading on a vacant plot, remember that there may be some metallic objects buried under it. So best to move around the area outside the house and take several readings. 3. What happens if the readings differ slightly, you should instead use the readings taken outside the house. In my own experience, as I use a rather expensive surveyor's compass, it is quite unaffected by metallic objects inside or outside the house. After you have taken a reading, you should by now know where the North to South orientation of the house. 4. Next superimpose our template on the layout plan with the North to South orientation. Currently I am writing from an e-mail client, if you have correctly uploaded the image, it will be in the Forum. Will check it out soonest. 5. As for a terrapin, here you may have to use `intuitive' Feng Shui based on your personal feelings as there as not much information for me to work on as you have not done a `real' FS assessment at your end to advise me on the `readings' etc... But frankly, such a small `pet' has not much impact unless you are having a large aquarium in the house. 17. Dear Eve, If you are using the Flying Star method, here are some useful guidelines for more accuracy:- 1. A personalized Flying Star chart takes into account:- a. The date of birth of the home/building b. owner's particulars 2. The shorter the time period for doing a Flying Star report, the more accurate it is. For example, a Flying Star Report done for a month e.g. April 1999 would be more accurate than one done for the whole year. But the trade off is that it no longer is valid after that month. We can consider Flying Star Reports like any other business reports, the more details plust timly information, provided and used, the more accurate, the report it becomes. Warmest Regards, Cecil -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'flying-star' suppressed suppressed> Date: Sunday, April 11, 1999 1:04 PM Subject: Flying Star Charts. Which to refer to?
  18. Dear Eve, Placing a partition or a low cabinet within the house (inside the house) does not alter the original door facing direction. The purpose of this is to let qi meander gently into the house and it is for this purpose only. However, if one tilts the main entrance door to a specific direction, one then has changed the direction of the facing of the door. No, the South = inauspicious is considered a `text book' assessment for everyone. Unfortunately, this is too general unless one does a personalised Feng Shui assessment specific to their own house and their personal data. Otherwise, it is in my opinion too general to be used by everyone. In fact it is less `accurate' even if we consider the Eight House as even the Eight House theory takes into consideration of a person's Gua number. In this Yearly Flying Star chart, there is no `ownership' of the model or personalised to anyone. I tend to think that it is the equivalent of the Eight Aspirations or Life Aspirations theory. I cannot blame a book author because, it is difficult to write a book personalised to suit an individual. That is why you often see the authors writing profusely about the South West e.g. romance corner, North e.g. career corner. All these general readings are more and my feeling is one good thing about them is that they are simple to understand and thus be able to get " beginners or novice " users interested in Feng Shui and then more and more when their `thirsty' of more knowledge develops. These ideas are not appropriate to many who have advanced further and now using eg. the Flying Star Theory or its numerlogy. 19. Hi, Based on the four symbolic animals concept, water should not be behind the house. But see the good news below:- There is one major principle of Sha Qi (bad ch'i) that is if it cannot be seen, no longer becomes a `threat'. In your case, your property is "exceptional" because it is huge. As mentioned above, if you cannot see the `threat' under Feng Shui principles, it no longer becomes sha qi in your case, it is further helped by the barn. In your case, I personally feel that there is no need to build a fence. The only point I like to bring to your attention is the short write-up I wrote on dangers of underground water. If you have the time, the url is : http://www.geomancy.net/fs/under.htm As your property has a pond, and it would be best to take note of the above article and if you have a geology study done, check that underground water does not flow through (below) your house. There are several ways you may want to find out more yourself:- 1. Go for a seminar on Feng Shui or take up a course on this subject. You have to find out more from the various Feng Shui Schools teaching the topic. This is because, I understand how you feel because, currently most Feng Shui books unfortuntely are not adequate enough as I feel, most books fail to teach the subject or teach in a very complexed way. 2. Firstly, I like to establish that the NW and South you are referring to is not on the same topic as the Grand Duke. 2. What Lillian Too is referring is based on the Flying Star Theory. 3. The period referred to is this Lunar year and it starts from 16 February 1999 to 4 February 2000 (and not at the end of 31 December 1999). 4. What she has done was to draw a Flying Star Chart for the Year 1999 (Year of the Rabbit). This is what the Flying Star Chart she is referring to:- North = Star 6, Average location North-East = Star 4, Good location for studies and romance East = Star 8, Position of Grand Duke (do not distrub him for the whole year) South-East = Star 9, Good and signifies promotion South = Star 5, Very inauspicious or bad. Star 5 is the Earth Star and as Earth = yellow colour, some practioners or books like to call it Five Yellow (Five = Star 5 and yellow for Earth). South-West = Star 7, Good and signifies wealth. Some people would enjoy this when they hear " wealth ". So, for those who wants to find your elusive wealth, using the Flying Star method is another way of finding your `wealth'. Please note that this chart is a YEAR, Flying Star Chart and overall, just to tell you generally, for the whole year, this may be the locations of such stars. BUT do note that, a Flying Star Chart can go as far as a Monthly, Day, hour... chart. So, for those who are wanting to chase after wealth, go do countless Flying Star Chart i.e. by the hour and then chase after the wealth location. Sorry, the above statement is not directed at you personally Luna, as it is erh.. meant as a *joke* because, for the past year, I do receive countless one line e-mails not from regular users of the Forum but from strangers who would a quick and easy way of finding wealth and sent me typical statement like:- Please tell me my wealth sector. I guess, the above, went into my head and at every opportunity, I hope that users here are not so naive and go into this `trap'. But, if you ask a Professional Feng Shui Master, the most correct way is to do countless Flying Star chart, the more accurate being a hour to hour chart. Can we do this? Frankly, I could do it as I have a computerized system at geomancy-online.com but think about it, it is rather crazy is'nt to do a hour to hour chart. I rather spent more productive time either doing my own things or helping others with their problems in this website. Alternatively, one can do a manual calculation. Truly, sorry for going off-track as I want to emphasie a point to regular users of this Forum not to go chasing after the elusive `wealth corner'. A true `wealth corner' is not so easy for us to chase. If so, everyone would be million or billionaires by now. What we can do is to treat Feng Shui as a total `holistic' method. I think this is a better option. Erh... lets continue:- West = Star 3, signifies legal entanglements North West = Star 2, Very inauspicious or bad. Some like to call this Two Black Centre location = Star 1, Average As I mentioned earlier, what Lillian Too did was to draw a Flying Star Chart for the whole Year for everybody and thus it is a general chart of the entire situation. This is thus a general guide and does not consider individual flying star chart of each house. For example, each house has a specific location of the main door and inaddition, each Cardinal or sub-cardinal point has a compass direction. Therefore, if your main door is facing south it can be South1 = 165 degrees, or South2 = 180 degrees or South3 = 195 degrees. After this, you should then draw your Flying Star chart. What I am trying to elaborate here is that her Flying Star Chart did not take into account the location of your main door i.e. it has not been matched to the location of your main door. Therefore, I hope you could note the about and my advise is that until doing so, this Yearly chart, thou has its merit is too GENERAL as it is has not been personalised to the house or the breadwinner. Other factors include the date of birth of the house which is required in a `true' personalised Flying Star Chart. I do not want to elaborate further, but this is what I feel about the chart. 22. Dear Airvrm, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'discussion-session' suppressed 'discussion-session' suppressed> Date: Friday, April 09, 1999 6:03 PM Subject: Yin & Yang Feng Shui Lets look at the explanation:- 1. Under the Shapes and Form School `concept'; The dragon is always on the Yang Domain. This is because, the dragon is always a yang `animal'. And in fact the most Yang of all animals. Here, by right, it should not be considered as under the Yin domain. This is because, under the Five elements concept, it is Green and Green = East, a location of rising sun which is a Yang location. Contrast this with the White Tiger. If we look through the colour `chart' White is located at the West. Therefore, in theory, we see them fit under this condition. 2. However, what I understand what Wu is trying to do. He is using the Four Symbolic Animals `loosely' as an overall template where it does not matter about the position of the four symbolic animals but listing them in order of their `positions'. Let me illustrate, if he placed the Dragon at the West, the Tiger now is located at the East. The Black Tortise is at the back and the Red Phoenix at the front. I think a few users here will get further confused because I mentioned this model but overall, do take note that the Four Symbolic Animals represent a few concepts and the reason why it is so widely used is that it is a `pictoral' illustration and pictures are much easier to visualise. Under Wu's `method' the objective; I believe what he wants to do is to check the position of the four positions in relation to a site. In this case, it does not matter whether the Dragon is at any of the four true compass point. I do not want to confuse you or many users here further as there is another concept, and this has been explained clearly in the Applied Feng Shui certificate course. To conclude, just remember that since it is so easy to refer to things in a diagram or picture, the Four Symbolic Animals concept is widely used in different concepts to explain relationships and things. I hope you get a picture of what I am saying:) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Christiane, This is a tough one, really as frankly, I do not know of any effective remedy against this other than not to stop work all together. For us Chinese, we would as mentioned above, stop work and pray at the location and `ask for forgiveness' for our ignorance. The problem is that the effects may unfortunately last for more than a year. 24. Dear Carol, So far, Feng Shui has not come to the dogs yet. In the olden days, priority of Feng Shui goes to searching a site for a community e.g. a large city. This would also apply to a site or a building or a home. Therefore, in the past the emphasis of Feng Shui is not like what we are doing, looking for `cures'. As for pet dogs, there is currently no mention of this anywhere on the best place to place them in cages. I guess dogs used to roam around and the Chinese (unfortunately) enjoy eating them. (I hope this statement is not offensive or replusive, as I do not mean any harm. If so, I sincerely apologise as I am stating the fact of life that some Chinese people do eat dogs). 25. Dear Carol, The correct method is the head should be facing the good direction. For example in your case, if North is auspicious. you should have your head facing North.
