  1. Dear John, john lee wrote: What's your advice for residences near the sea. For eg, Jalan Loyang Besar (across Pasir Ris Park)? Fengshui wise and 'common sense' viewpoint in light of a possible big quake/tsunami? Thanks Generally, under feng shui four symoblic animal concept. A house is always good to have water or clear space at the frontage. While the back of the house should be supported by a mountain. So if you do not consider any other factors (such as flying star, or house facing suitability etc). Then any house that you can have water frontage is always deemed a good choice. However, as you mentioned, recently the problem of a sea frontage is possibility of natural disasters. Given that it is hard to predict when natural disaster will happen. So if you want to avoid earthquakes, then choose a non-reclaimed land or land where thesoil is much harder. Or if you want to avoid tsunami, then avoid sea front property that isn't sheltered by islands or anything that can act as a barrier between the open seas and your property. Or simply ensure that there arediasasterprevention to minimise it. If you considered all the factors, then a sea front property isn't all an issue. Hope that helps. 2. Dear C L, c l wrote: If you were born on a day with daylight savings applied (+1 hour), do I need to minus 1 hour when entering my birth date so that it is removed? E.g if I was born at 12.30am on 2 Nov with daylight savings on. Do I enter my birth date to be 1 Nov or 2 Nov? This is a topic that we have covered many times already. 1. The only true way to apply the timezone factor is through applying the long. and lat. of birth into the ba zi analysis. However, realistically, how many people really record the exact long. and lat. of birth? Very few, i am afraid. 2. GMT timezone difference is a very bad way to apply location factor, as it only considers one of the factor. Furthermore, GMT timezone has been simplified. So again, this makes using adjusting GMT time different less accurate. 3. Also, even a degree of error in your place of birth will likely make your chart less accurate than without this information. For examaple, even if one knows the hospital he/she was born in. The exact room in which he/she is born also gives different long. and lat. So how is one going to be sure the place where you are born is correct? 4. Furthermore, if you know how ba zi chart really works, the hour pillar really does not affect much of your luck forecast. As the luck forecast is comes more from the month pillar/year pillar. So essentially, even if your hour pillar is removed, the fundamental analysis still won't differ a great deal. It does help in determining your five element percentage and house of life pillar. So any differences is usually because your element was determined to be weak or strong. Fundamentally, the luck forecast won't change that significantly. That is why even if you do not provide the hour, a fairly accurate forecast can still be deduced. 5. Ba Zi is only meant to deduced the type of heaven luck (given luck) that you are supposed to have. When is up and downs for you. It does not really give you an accurate prediction of what had happened. This is because a person's luck is influenced by 3 types of luck:- a) Heaven Luck - Luck that you are born with. b) Earth Luck - Luck from your home and surrounding c) Human Luck - Luck from your relationship with other people and your own hard work. So even if a chart shows that your luck is very good for a year, but because your earth luck and human luck is bad for you, your luck would not be as good as what was predicted. So really, the ba zi only helps to show you in a very formatted why how your chart is balanced and how you can try to adjust your life to maximise the luck. The rest depends on your earth and human luck influence. 6. Feng Shui is designed in such a way that it has many fail safe and ways to counter check each theories flaws. As long as you apply all the available feng shui tools, each analysis will accurate help to re-enforce the other analysis and reduce any of the flaws of each concept. That is why is is more important to apply as many theories to give you a complete assessment rather than just depend on one concept. That is why because of all the reasons above we normally advise users to just make use of your localtime. No adjustment of timezone is necessary. If really unsure, leaving it hour unknown is sometimes a better choice than trying to adjust the time which is more likely to create additional factor of inaccuracy. So just use your localtime do not make any changes for any of our website tools. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
  3. Dear Aaron, Aaron Ng wrote: I noticed that one of your Earth Luck articles says that a common leak is due to the toilet being near the centre of the flat. This is a rather common now-a-days unfortunately. However, what you should also consider is that this is just one of the flaws available. A house is likely to have some flaws as it is almost difficult to find one without a single flaw (even if you build it yourself). So as long as:- 1. The toilet is not directly at the center point, it should still be ok.If this is the case, try to keep the toilet seat cover and toilet door closed when not in use. Also, another way is try to trap the wealth before it leaks buy hanging a chinese luhu (bottle gourd) to attempt to symoblically trap the wealth before it leaks out. 2. There should not be other critical flaws available to add to your negative aspect when evaluating a house. Usually a bad feng shui house is where there are many major flaws present. Many major flaws together will normally create problems. If only one flaw, and other areas are still good. Then not a major issue. So as long as there isn't too many other major flaws, and you follow the advise in point 1, should still be ok especially if there is no other choices available. Hope that helps. What can i do to minimise the bad impact.. Generally, unless a personis holding a key position in the company, it is most unlikely that you will be able to have the flexibility to choose a sitting position. So there is very little you can do even if you are stting facing your inauspicious direction. However, what we always advise is that there are still many areas in your life that you can improve. As long as, you can improve your ba zi luck, even if you work in an inauspicious direction, your luck will still be improved. So check out what element you belong to under the feng shui from this link:- URL: http://www.geomancy.net/reports/free-report/freerpt-element.htm Then try to have more of your favourable elements you lack in your ba zi. For example, a weak wood, would normally need more wood/water. So that means you can choose to ensure that:- your house is facing North (water for example); or wear clothing that is of these colours schemes blue/black/gray (water) or green/brown (wood), or having career that falls under the water/wood elements; or work with people with favourable elements etc. You can refer to this link for more info about five elements and relationship:- URL: http://talk.geomancy.net The more areas that favours you in your ba zi, the better your overall luck. In that case, going into a bakery business may be considered OK right? It is still best to go with the favourable elements you lack first, rather than unfavourable elements that you lack. As you still need to have your favourable elements before you can benefit from adding more Earth element. So even though your earth element is generally lacking, you can still consider bakery business, but this would also mean that you need to ensure that your house or other areas in your life belongs your favourable element to make adding Earth ok for you. Anonymous wrote: I also understand thata cafe business belongs to the water element. How about a cafe cumbakery business, just like any McCafe or Coffee Bean, etc? Will this suit us better? 7. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Hi, I've always thought fire destroys metal. Why would it bea binding element? Could you explain what the report below means in terms of compatibility? How would I reduce conflicts? And are the clashes significant? Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks so much! Comparing Birth Elements- VS The binding elements to get the two parties to be compatible or reduce conflict is Fire. Analysis of Earthly Branches Clashes for the two charts:- Earthly Branch Clash between day pillar (si) & hour pillar (hai). Yes, you are correct that fire destroy metal. Every element has two state. ie a weak and strong. If a weak Metal, fire will make weak metal weaker. However, as a Strong Metal, it means that you have too much Earth and Metal which is why you are strong. So Fire is one of the element to exhaust the excess metal so that you become more balanced. Water is also another way to exhaust the excess Strong Metal. Given, it is compatibility between two persons, to the element must be common to both person. Water may be good for Strong Metal, but it will weaken weak Fire person. Thus, Fire is the recommended binding element to help smoothen relation in this case. In general, if you based only on the five element compatibility. Weak Fire and Strong Metal is a particularly good for the Strong Metal person. To make the relationship even more harmonious, additional Fire will help. Wood is also another possible element good for both person. There is a clash between the two chart, but it is considered minor clash. So that just means that there may still be some occassional conflicts between the two. However, as long as you adopt a give an take approach, you should be able to minimise any major conflicts. The other compatibility to check is the horoscope sign. If there is no further incompatibility between the horoscope, the comparison is deemed to be pretty compatible with minor conflicts. Hope that helps. Sorry, I don't understand one point here. You mean the kitchen is located apart from your house layout? Is there any other apartment sharing the same passage way? This is quite an odd setup or layout. Generally, we normally will take the main door given you are staying in am apartment with other people occupying other units. But if say the entry of the door and passage way leading to your main door does not contain entrance to other house, then you can consider then entry building as your main door to have the kichen included in your flying star assessment. Otherwise, if there are still other appartment sharing the passage, then you will have to exclude the kitchen from being part your partment as it appears to be separated from the house. Sarosh B wrote: 2) From the Home map attached, can you pleas tell me which is Home Facing direction as per FS...? Given it is am apartment, the norm is to take the main door facing. As mentioned, if the passage contains entrance to other units, then you have to exclude the kitchen from any flying star assessment. Sarosh B wrote: 3) I wanted to keep an aquarium in my living room and after seeing your reply to earlier postsI know that I have to calculate and interpret the Flying star theory, but does this mean I will have to change the location of my aquarium every Chinese Year....?Also my Building was built in period 3 so do I have to use that period...? Generally, the flying star chart is worked using the 20-year chart. So the water position we try to identify is the more long term water position. So there is no need to change the location every year. This is not practical. As for your building period. Generally, for a building that old, the chance of luck flying over to more recent period due to renovation is very high. So probably the best advise is to try to fly the house to new luck period irregardless so that you can better take advantage of the period 8 chart without worries that the chart was oritginally in what period. A symbolic flying star change over is done with symoblically painting the entire house (especially the ceiling all in one go). Then having at least 3 major celebrations in the house. This fly over will change slower than a major renovation, but at least you do not need to worry too much about which older period the house is based on. So you can focus on welcoming the new period 8 Qi and activating the current wealth luck positions. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

For the Eight House / Flying Starchart, orientate the North position of the house to the North of yoru Eight House chart. This means, that if your main door is North then North will fall under your Death sector. Only difference is that for Flying Star chart, the chart will be different depending on what is the actual house facing direction. So if your frontage of the house is North, then you generate the North (depending on N1/N2/N3 direction), then orientate the chart based on the North position. You cannot use another direction of chart etc. Once you have these properly done, then you use the chart to assess if the house is suitable, whether there are necessary corrections etc. It does not mean that you are South-West person, means you use a South-West Flying Star chart to match the house. The house chart is based on the frontage of the house. So if the house is North facing, then you use a North facing flying star chart. But based on your main door facing it lookslike this house won't be suitable for you. In fact, as a West Group person, you would benefit most if your house is NE/SW Facing especially if the house is built after 2004 (Period 8). Hope that helps. You see just like why people have bad impression on number say 4 = die, when most think about tatoo it often relates to something bad or illegal. In feng shui, you want to have more good influence than bad influence, so naturally, tattoo would also be viewed as having bad influence. Even though, recent tattoos are being viewed as a personalisedart form. This means this wall/split will cut right into your house. Typical way to resolve is try to block it. Probably like having at least gate with has half the height covered. How bad, really depends on how much far the 3 plants placed and how it looks from within the house. If it looks similiar to the 3 joss stick, then it is bad. If it does not, then it should be ok. In fact, the only true way is to apply the long. and lat. of birth. However, even this if you add just 1 degree off, your chart can be even less accurate than if you do not consider this at all. Furthermore, who actually records the exact long. and lat. of birth when you are born. Even if you are born within a hospital, a different location within the hospital also will give you a different long. and lat. of birth. Ba zi, was created such that even if you leave out the hour of birth, it will still be able to give you a pretty accurate forecast of what luck you are suppose to be born with. So really, there is no need to make any adjustment. It is best to just use your local time of birth for analysing the ba zi. This would be enough. After all, a person luck is affected by 3 types of luck:- 1. Heaven Luck - luck you are supposed to be born with. 2. Earth Luck - luck from your home and surrounding. 3. Human Luck - luck from your own hard work and relationship with others. Thus, a ba zi does isn't designed to predict accurately what you may have encountered (based on your history), but rather to assess what type of luck you are supposed to have, and when are the ups and downs to look out for. Even if a ba zi luck period shows you have good luck but if your earth luck influence is bad, your given luck will be affected. So if you understand this, ba zi is more just to determine what element you belong to, how to harmonise yourself to the environment, and when best to take advantage of your luck. The rest depends a lot on the earth and human luck. So to summarise, you just need to use your local time when generating any of the reports on our website. Each different tools you use will compensate the inaccuracy or flaws of each tool. 19. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: My brother bought a house built during period 7. When the master fengshui did the consultation at my brother's house he automatically applied period 8 to do his calculations. I find this method very strange. When I asked, he told me he can apply 8 and work it backwards. I don't know what he means and he refused to elaborate. Is this method legitimate? Please help... Generally, when you assess a house, you need to know when the house was first built. This determines what is the base flying star influence of the house. For houses built before 2004 (period 7 houses), such houses will typically retain the Period 7 house Qi, unless a major renovation or at least symbolic fly over or if the house is too old (Qi will also slowly fly over). So it is important for houses built before 2004, to check if any major renovation was done. Only then can we determine if the house may have flown over. In any case, after we check the period 7, then we can see if the house benefit from period 8. Most house direction such as NE/SW facing house, would benefit better if you fly the house over to the period 8. If so then, advise will be given to recommend a fly over. This is typically the correct way to evaluate the house. As a house built in period 7, won't immediately take up period 8 qi. Unless, of course, you indicate that you will perform a major renovation to the house after you buy it. Then, there is no need to check the period 7 house luck as any major renovation will fly the house over to period 8 house luck. Otherwise, the house should be assessed asa period 7 house luck, and another option to consider whether it is good to fly over to period 8 or not. Usually, not the other way around. Hope that clarifies the issues. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Glad you enjoy our website blue chocs wrote: However, for one of the checks DOB: 5 July 1976, 7.30pm, the free report generated showed that he (yes, it is a male) an Earth Dragon but many Chinese horoscopes indicates that the year 1976 is the year of the Fire Dragon. Why is it different? The report does indicate that the person is of Strong YangEarth element. But surely, it does not mean that his horoscope is Earth Dragon, yes? Actually, if you only focus on the year 1976 is a Fire Dragon. So this is generally correct if you consider the year of birth. But what you need to know is that for every year, depending on which day you are born, there can be a water / wood / fire / earth / metal person born in the Fire Dragon year. In the case of the DOB: 5 Jul 1976, this person is born on the Earth day, and after all the elements were calculated, it is determined to be a Strong Earth. Therefore, it is more accurate to say that this person is a Strong Earth born in the Fire Dragon year. So his base element would be a Strong Earth. blue chocs wrote: From the free report generated, it shows that he does not have any Metal in his 4 pillars. As such, in order to bring about balance to the elements, it would be best if he dresses in white most of the time? Also, in the 5 elements, I understand that the Metal element concerns children. If the person is severely lacking in the Metal element, does it mean that he will need to have children or have more children in order to bring about a balance? We normally go by two ways to define which is the elements a person lack. The basic way is:- 1. As a Strong Earth, it means this person is strong Earth because:- a) Eitherthis personhas too much Earth b) Or this person has too much Fire c) Or this person has too much Fire and Earth Therefore, asa Strong Earth, his favourable elements would be Metal/Water/Wood elements in general. If you go into more deeper analysis, then you need to consider the balance of the five element. ie what is the percentage of each of the element. This will more clearly show you what element is most preferred. The ideal would be to have exactly 20% of each of the five element to be in perfect harmony. So whatever elements is less than 20% will mean he lacks too little of it. Whatever element is over 20% is too much so should avoid. For example if the percentage of Metal (10%) / Water (0%) / Wood (30%). This means that for this Strong Earth, Water is his most favourable element, Metal is next, while Wood is more than enough. So this person won't benefit from having more Wood. Therfore, his most favourable element would be Water, followed by Metal. So when you know the exact percentage breakdown, you will be able to fine tune exactly which element is lacking most, and which one should avoid. Once you understand that, you then need to know that five element can be related to career/colours/direction/shapes etc. You can refer to this link:- URL: http://talk.geomancy.net So colours is just one of the way to add more of the element's a person lack. The other is by house facing, suitable career, even people around you etc. The more in your favour, the better your overall luck. Hope that helps. I put two "?" marks to show where we were thinking of putting the door.we want there to be three windows and a door. The room is 12 feet by 16 feet. It has not been built yet. Only the foundation. Any advice you have would be greatly appreicated! Generally, for such questions, it is best you seek professional analysis to assess your current house and suggest the best positions after considering all the factors. I can only advise you here on some of the shapes and forms that I noted. 1) Given you have a french door entrance, the door in the new bedroom should not be opposite as it will consitute a Qi leak. So the door opening from the side would be better. Or not directly opposite another door would be better. 2) As for the bed, normally we select the bed position that will be suitable to the person who will be using the bedroom. If it is a guest, bedroom then it should be position where you can sleep and see the door. Such as in this link:- URL: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-bedroom.htm Hope that helps. 25. Dear Dongbin hu, dongbin hu wrote: My house has a patio door on the back of the guest room but doesn't have a back door. My husband is planning to change his office's window to a back door in case of fire. I've heard that change window to door isa big 'no no' in FengShui so I'd likesome advice from Feng Shui experts on our case. Generally, when you change a door or window, the Qi of the house will likely be affected. Especially, if the door or window happens to be the frontage/backdoor location. It would appear that the window you are attempting to change will fall in the badkdoor area. So yes, it would affect the feng shui of the house. Thus, it is best you carefully analyse the impact of the change first before you do it. As it may alter the qi of the house especially if your hosue is built before period 8 (before 2004). For such changes, it is best you get someone to professionally analyse your house and then provide the appropriate advise and recommendations. Hope that helps.
