Dear Maritza, 1. Yes, in Feng Shui, this may not be not so good. 2. To counter such effects, usually, it is always best to have a brick (red brick) fencing (acceptable with iron/wrought iron grilles) at the frontage of the house. 3. It also depends on the shape of your plot of land. 4. On the other hand, if your plot of land (from a top-down) view looks like a knife with handle, this will be to your advantage as you can take advantage of the Feng Shui to reap `wealth' at the expense of your neighbour. It is best that if you can produce a sketch. I am not too sure if I got what you mentioned correctly. As such, I have drawn a sketch. To illustrate what is known as a `knife' plot. This is similar to the Faber Crest Condominium project developed by City Development Corporation CDL. (some of the photos are shown under the Events - Feng Shui (CDL) talk and for the most recent Exxon-Mobil talk. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Usually, the main concern is if the toilet bowl `looks out' of the toilet door (or can be seen when the toilet door is opened). In commonsense approach to Feng Shui, this does not look `appealing'. If the toilet bowl faces the staircase, then, it is best to close the door. Otherwise, if the toilet door is open, and what one sees is a pathway into the toilet or the sink, then this is not that bad (visually). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wasis, Please see below:- OK. Thanks for the layout. If you still have the flag pole, this is not in a favourable direction. The laundry area is considered not a leak. Is the water reservioir tower covered. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. In general, many Feng Shui practitioners or those who know about Feng Shui, tend to avoid having a sink facing or opposite the stove. This is due to water and fire clashing together. 2. If one has such a situation, one may apply the productive cycle under the Five elements concept by the introduction of wood element. 3. Here, fire -> (adding wood) -> water will form a three element combination flow. 4. In my opinion, it is still acceptable if the kitchen is located the South - fire element(compass direction - area) of the house. 5. One of the worst directions to have a sink opposite the stove is at the North (compass direction of the house). Here, it is said that, North represents the water element and it would be much harder for the stove (fire) to exist. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Joe, Would it be possible for you to attach a simple sketch. As, I am still unclear of your layout plan. Thanks in advance! Cecil

Dear Jennifer, Try to do abit more homework to check for any other leaks in the home. Most common `major' leaks are:- 1. Location of toilet (at centre-point or next to main door area). 2. When entering main door, one can see the back (or qi flows impeded from front door to the back. 3. Stand inside the house i.e. stand at the main door looking out of the house and also from all various windows lookig out of the house. 4. As you had mentioned - external Shapes and Forms of the house. Are there any other inauspicious Shapes and Forms? Please see below:- At behind of the house:- a. Is there any water positions e.g. swimming pools? b. Is there a solid wall at the back of your house. Or can u describe more about the fencing. Such as are there any plants or is it `unprotected' e.g. can see thru to the back. c. How is the gradient of the house? To the left, side, front and back of the house. For example, is the house sloping downwards? Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Sorry for the delay. For Strong Water vs Weak Fire, your binding element is Wood (green or brown). This colour would be good for areas where you spent time together. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Dragana, 1. Under the Eight Aspirations concept, the career sector is `suppose' to be located at the North and not south. 2. Overall, do not be overly concerned with fixed template as it is not considered reliable as it is too general to be of use (effective use or application). 3. Thank you also for the layout plan. From what I can see, there is one problem which is the toilet is next to the main door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Pamela, 1. What you brought up is quite an interesting subject. 2. Most of the time, if you had sought advise from Feng Shui practitioners, it seems that it is always a `No-no' to place swords. 3. Because symbollically it has sharp edges and for two reasons:- Commonsense approach -------------------- It is like having a loaded gun in the house. Especially with children around - may perhaps be considered safer, placing it away from them. E.g. in locked glass shelves. The sharp edges of the swords ----------------------------- Usually, this is not preferred as it symbolises disharmony. 4. Given the two, I would prefer to look at it from a commonsense approach as it may involve safety in the home. For the second, sharp edges of the sword; usually, it is kept inside it's protective shield. So not a real issue. If one has seen Gong Fu films, even heroes and heroines sleeping with their swords nearby. 5. Therefore, in my opinion, do take into consideration - the commonsense approach. But if you do not have children or they are already grown up, there is really no harm in displaying the sword collection. 6. If you have a specific room, dedicated to the placement of your collection - much the better! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Thank you for your clarification. 1. Techically, what I said was correct. However, a mountain star (if it is found) should be activated instead at the back portion of the house. For example, in your situation, where you had mentioned that you have activated a mountain over the `frontage'. Do remove the `mountain' at the frontage even if it is on the second storey. Symbolically, it is not corret to do so. We do not want a mountain blocking our `water' or clear space. A mountain star (if found) should be activated e.g. on the opposite wall from this position or any other walls that are at the back facing. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wasis, 1. Becareful of the placement of dragon figurine or painting. 2. Check the number of claws on it. If there are five, then, it is considered very `yang'. Here, one is not familiar with the dragon (figurine or painting) - one should treat it more like `Ba Gua mirror' and not face inwards of the house. 3. In Hong Kong, it is said that it has nine dragons. Dragon landscape or dragon qi is usually coming from e.g. a hill or landscape and winding down a river or from a hill down to the `sea'. In Hong Kong, a hotel had created an opening from the back thru the glass panels into the sea. Another good example, is `The Sterling' condominium in Singapore. ( Do a search for `The Sterling' in this forum ) Here, this condo is on an elevated triangle piece of land or a triangle hill. Here, the developer, purposely built a `hole' in the middle of this condominium development to allow the dragon qi to pass thru, from the hill (mountain) down into the `sea'. 4. This should be the same concept in hanging a dragon painting or placement of a figurine. 5. Recently, two months ago, I went for a Feng Shui audit. Prior to my visit, a Feng Shui practitioner advised; this client to place two dragon figurines with a crystal in the mouth of the dragon facing into a wall facing the meeting table. Please refer to attachement (only available for those who log-in to the forum. 6. It is best, if one has any of such figurines to let it `sit' facing out of a window or sliding glass towards clear space. If it is not possible, angle it facing such a situation. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wasis, Yes, this is usually a leak. But it would not be good to have an additional door. The additional door would totally eliminate any qi coming into the home. - Making it far worse off (financially). What is needed is a screen or partition (if possible) - miminum up to the height of the door frame. The other option is to close the windows of the back such that it is not directly facing this garage door. And place a bottle gourd on the side where the windows are opened. Please see below:- Please see above. There is not much choice. do not open the front door together with the sliding door opened. Yes, in my opinion, there are too many `mouths' in your home especially, if you open most of the windows/ two sliding panels and even the front door. Plus, the side windows - if they are immediately close the the front of the house. Such a house will not prosper unless, you have a proper balance of the openings or the `mouth' of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Try to do a SEARCH in the forum for ` Gourd ' and you can read up the information and the two illustrations relating to what is the gourd and how to use it. --- Search found this -- Topic: Illustration 1: Use of The Bottle Gourd (2 of 4), Read 86 times, 1 File Attachment Conf: Feng Shui Tips & Guidelines From: Cecil Lee Date: Monday, June 17, 2002 09:57 PM The bottle gourd used in several situations. One situation is illustrated in the attached diagram to prevent wealth being drained out of the house. BOTTLE-GOURD-ROOM.GIF (8KB) Placement of bottle gourd No, a squash bottle is not a cure. Dear Anon, On your part, you can try to continue to have a reasonable communication with your husband. (Not based on yelling or screaming or on bad things). Sorry, I am not a counsellor, but usually, many times, couples with already two children can bring in your two children. Or try to reason the continual of the marriage for both your two children's sake. Please see below on Feng Shui issues:- Yes, there are many times when there is a direct path between the main door to the backyard area. I am not sure if the wood shutter covers can still allow air to flow freely from the main door to the back. If it is not `air-tight', there is still a leak from this area. Perhaps, you can draw a sketch. A lone tree especially if one is standing inside the house facing outwards is not a good situation. Especially if the main door is at South West (devil's back door). This creates too yin a location and not favourable. I believe that this is not a major issue unless, eight house theory is not favourable. More importantly, check on the first point i.e. the leak from the main door right to the back yard. As often, in my opinion, this is one of the major problems relating to marriage problems. In alot of instances, I have seen somes where the owners removed staircases and left the main door with a direct wind path to the back of the house. And many of such situations, I believe resulted in marriage problems resulting in separation/divorce. Wishing you all the best! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wasis, The common bottle gourd is a natural gourd. That was dried from original green to light brown (pine wood) colour. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Susan, In my opinion, this is a rudimentary way of looking at analysing Ba Zi. Overall, what you did does not take into considerations:- harms, punishments, double and triple combinations of elements (which some are good while others are not favourable to one's element. Basic Ba Zi also includes, the Year, Day, Month, Hour of birth. But professional Ba Zi has to include not only the above but also two other pillars : House of Life and House of Conception. Perhaps, you can learn more about what Full Ba Zi analysis looks like under this url:- http://sg.geomancy.net/consultation/consult-others/fullbazianalysis.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Serene, The purpose of the mountain star is symbolic of having a `mountain support' at the `back' of the house. For example, one must not activate a mountain, say at the main door. Here, it is like blocking clear space. Please see below:- It is good that you had added a divider between the main door and the window/balcony area. If not, there is a major leak. For the dining table, perhaps, you may not have drawn to scale. As it looks quite crammed where one of the chairs nearly meet the living room area. If it does, than, you may consider turning the table 90 degrees. I may be mistaken. If the current space is spacious, then, your current layout is ok. Yes, I can understand, why you had to place your son's bed in the position - not much choice considering the shape / windows and bedroom door. This is OK based on such a Shapes and Forms of the bedroom. Looks like the Master bedroom, home office and kitchen has space constraints and these positions are overall acceptable under such a situation. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, If your house is not too big, then, one should not try to divide each room into sectors. But instead, look at the centrepoint of the house. From the centrepoint, you should be able to properly determine where is the North, NE, South etc... of each area. For a start, it is best to understand fundamental Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. As usually, this is one of the key ingredients or one of the key success factors in the Feng Shui of any house. After this, than, you can explore the use of the Eight House etc... There are some resources at: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm And if you are in no hurry, try to understand more, before `jumping the wagon' into Feng Shui. Good Luck! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Daren, You mentioned that your house is facing West. In all instances of West House:- W1 (247.5-262.4) - West Main Door Facing (255) W2 (262.5-277.4) - West Main Door Facing (270) W3 (277.5-292.4) - West Main Door Facing (285) In all the above instances, overall, under the Eight House, the house is considered unsuitable as it is your disaster sector. Check to see which intangible force is affecting you in your bedroom. This is an initial finding. Usually, there are other `leaks' involved and should be corrected. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Peck Wun, In my opinion, the wronght iron gate is in an acceptable colour. I have included an illustration showing that it would not be advisable, thou, to use iron gate with arrow heads at the top. Since you are in Singapore, doors painted white is also acceptable. Warmest Regards Cecil

Dear Anon, In Feng Shui practise, if your office table is in a position to look out to a corridor or an open window into the rest of the office area, one may consider a pair of dragon figurines aimed outwards. Note: that this is not always applicable to everyone. There is a difference between Weak or Strong Earth element as shown below:- Birth Element: Weak Earth Favourable Element/Colour: Fire (red), Earth (yellow) Unfavourable Element/Colour: Wood (green/brown), Metal (white/gold) Wealth Element/Colour: Water (blue/black/gray) NOTE: Wealth element auspicious only if you are a Strong Earth, otherwise it will bring you lots of problem Birth Element: Strong Earth Favourable Element/Colour: Metal (white/gold), Wood (green/brown), Water (blue/black/gray) Unfavourable Element/Colour: Fire (red), Earth (yellow) Wealth Element/Colour: Water (blue/black/gray) Note: Strong Earth person can directly take advantage of water. You have to becareful whether you are weak or strong earth. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mahesh, In my opinion, Sector Feng Shui or paying homage to sectors is not a reliable. A sterling example is this caricature. (Only available thru login in the forum). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Tess, Priority should be given to good Shapes and Forms of the interior of the room. Frankly, there is not much, that one can do based on the Eight House Theory. As it does not offer any cures. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Myra, 1. I am glad you enjoyed the website. 2. Usually, just prior to the 7th month, many Chinese clients want to confirm their layout(s) and try to symbolically start the renovation of their new home. (Before the 7th month which begins on 9 August 2002 and ends on 6 September 2002). 3. During this period, many new home owners would as mentioned earlier, start renovations to coincide with the end of the 7th month. 4. Here are some interesting information for those who are not too sure of what to do during the 7th month:- 4.1 Can I still visit the show rooms to view perspective homes? Why not. You are not intending to move in on the 7th month. And if there are soft launches during the 7th month; the show rooms may not be as crowded. And you can even view or place a deposit. 4.2 I am waiting to collect my keys. Can I do so during the 7th month? If you are in no hurry to start renovations or move-in, then, if you want to, you can defer collecting the keys e.g. to your condo. Usually, the developer will oblige with your request. However for (Singapore) property tax purposes, Property Tax starts the moment, Temporary Occupational Permit (T.O.P.) has been given. And the period between you the TOP and you getting the key; usually, the developer would have to bear the costs of the Property Tax (based not on owner occupied rate - but a higher rental rate). When you get your keys to your condo, soon after, remember to submit the Property Tax form for your new property. So that, when your property tax is due, you will be billed accordingly. Else, you have to pay up front the entire tax. And subsequently, try to get a refund from your developer. 4.3 Can I still contact a Geomancer for an audit during the 7th month? Usually, there is no issue. This also depends on individual's preception or degree of what they consider good or bad during the 7th month. During the 7th month, Feng Shui audits can still be conducted. But, it is best confined between e.g. 8.30am to 3.00pm. After 3.00pm, it is a yin period and not as advisable. It is best not to conduct an audit on the 7th day of the 7th month i.e. 15th August 2002. As this is considered an evil day. Otherwise, if one really need to view homes, feel free to view the perspective house. 5. As mentioned earlier, the 7th month taboo, depends greatly on one's perception of it. Traditionally, it is more important to take note of two major taboos:- 1. AVOID Moving-in 2. AVOID travelling during this time. (Travelling would mean e.g. on a holiday or if one is taking out their children, many would avoid bringing them to e.g. water recreation sites e.g. water slides or sky diving, water - diving. Or more of the `dangerous' sports. This does not mean confining the poor child `locked' up at home.) More importantly, close supervision is best. E.g. still ok to bring children to the nearby play ground. Or allowing children to play badmintion, soccer, squash etc.. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Analia, Please see below:- Most importantly, roofs should be symmetrical. Or both `left and right' sides should be balanced. Equally important is the shape. The best shape is still `an Up' outline e.g.:- ^ / \ / \ | | If the front of the house looks like the above with pointed arrow facing other houses, much the better to this occupant. Many people are more concern with their homes than others. And, although it may not be favourable to the neighour (if their main door happends to be directly facing this `arrow' sha qi. Flat roofs are usually not preferred for homes especially in the equator. As hot air cannot rise up adequately. And if there is no insulation, direct sunlight can heat up the roof. Many of the homes built in the Far East, has a Ba Gua shaped balcony or family room area especially at the South (fire sector). And some of these have their toilets at the North (water) position. An example is `The Meyer Place' condo. Do a search in the forum for more details of this development. Usually, leaf edges are not a real threat. The real threat is usually thru the tree trunk (not covered with leaves). Have to really see it before, I can fully comment on it. But in doubt, no harm to screen it out. It is best to use Pillars of Destiny (Ba Zi) in such a situation. Especially if there are two or more persons e.g. a couple sleeping in the bedroom. Professional level Pillars of Destiny does not only take into consideration the Year of birth but much more than that to determine your actual element and strength. Only after finding it out and looking at the `binding' element of both e.g. husband and wife can then proper elements e.g. colour scheme be taken into consideration. We offer free service on this. And if you have a layout plan, can either, fax to us, e-mail us a scanned image. Or simply attach a scanned image to this forum (message). And I can help to determine the centrepoint for you. Frankly, proper and sensible food intake. And most important - will power and determination -> to gradually loose weight over a period. Many times, most of us, try to do it at `one go' and later put on more weight instead. Many quick `fix' programmes may not be appropriate as some let you lose `water content' rather than sensible weight. Sometimes, too drastic a program may lead to health problems or lack of minerals/vitamins. Warmest Regards, Cecil
