Dear Alan, Yes, based on your attachment, the layout is the most favourable (nw-bedplacement-1.gif) based on Shapes and Form Feng Shui. An alternative file: nw-bedplacement-2.gif shows the next best alternative (less the placement of the dressing table - as it is a poison arrow aimed partially at the bed. The dressing table should be placed further away or tilted away (if it does not have a dressing mirror on it). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Serene, It would be best to tie a red string with the 6 coinst tied together. This is preferred if one is using 6 coins. The rationale is because fire element (red) can help to bind or control metal element (especially if it consists of 6 metal or big metal element). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Hoa Luong, Please use this guideline:- If the compass direction falls on or between 142.5 to 157.4 degrees, please select 150 degrees. If the compass direction falls on or between 157.5 to 172.4 degrees, then select 165 degrees. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Thank you for your sketch. Based on your sketch, it looks like your bed has been placed in a good Shapes and Form layout plan. To confirm, please refer to the attached file and the markings indicated:- Marking `A' preferably your bedroom door should be located here. Marking `C' - windows on this side Marking `D and E' - preferably, the bed should rest against a solid wall. And it is acceptable to have windows on the side of the bedroom at location marked `D' and/or `E'. Frankly, under the Eight House Theory ( East/West Group) of persons, there is not much one can do other than to move room. For those, who want to go further into more advanced Feng Shui can explore using Flying Star Feng Shui. Here, this theory helps to look at any imbalances and if found, one should neutralise the bad sectors. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Further to what I had mentioned earlier, I do not favour floor tiles for the entire house with the checked design (sample shown attached) nor floor tiles entirely black in colour especially for the entire living room area. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Serene, From my past experience, floor tiles even if they are fully wooden (laminate) tiles are no issue in Feng Shui. As should be related more to yin or yang concept. So long as you are using light coloured tiles should be good enough. But tiles especially black with white tiles for the entire house may not be auspicious (even more so if it is all black tiles). This is evident especially if the Shapes and Form Feng Shui e.g. external environment is particularly bad i.e. not good Shapes and Form. This has a pulling power to bring down the Feng Shui of the entire house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Chloe Lin, 1. Yes, it is not a good idea to use a urn. 2. Since the cul de sac is basically of the `metal element' i.e. imagine it as a metal sickle / knife slicing into your home, a better controlling item is red as mentioned earlier to you. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Carlos, In the future, it is best not to use all CAPs. Although you may not be aware, CAPs imply shouting. Please see below:- If the cabinet goes along the facade of the wall, there should no longer be any poison arrow to worry about. THE SECOND. HAVE I DONE Most probably, after next lunar year (after Year of the Horse) you do not need an extra six coins). For the mirrors, do check whetehr the sector is auspicious or inauspicious. If it is inauspicious, it is est not to place a mirror on either sides as it may bounce back twice the bad luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Trang, Can I confirm that there is a stair's landing and that this is included in the count of the number of steps? How wide is the staircase landing. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. For those who have not read this link on the number of recommended steps, please refer to: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-stairs.htm

Dear Bato, 1. In my opinion, it is easier to reply to your question if the placement is more of a hobby. 2. But if it is meant more for Feng Shui, then there are usually more considerations:- 2.1 In General:- It is still acceptable to place a fish tank along the wall area especially the living room area. 2.2 More specific:- - it is to avoid the placement of a water position close to the centrepoint of the house - be careful of placing water positions especially if the breadwinner and spouse are either `weak fire' or `strong water' persons. For example, water can further extinguish a weak fire element person. And water is not favourable to a strong water person. 3. Looking at the position of water in relation to `Nien Yen' as you had mentioned is too general. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Anon, In my opinion, go for the alternative that makes you more comfortable. For mirrors on doors or wall, frankly, one can still do something e.g. temporary pasting of a poster or buying off the self opaque film that can be placed on the mirrors. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Thank you for bring up such an interesting question. 2. To help everyone understand better, one of this options can be related to a particular Chinese `custom'. 3. Before we go into this question, it is interesting to understand this... 3.1 When the communist took over China, Feng Shui practises were suppressed in that country. Many Chinese fled to two major countries i.e. Taiwan and Hong Kong. (Many more fled to the Far East). 3.2 But it is interesting to note here is that the majority that fled to Taiwan are the Hokkiens from Fukien province. 3.3 While those that fled to Hong Kong are from Canton, the Cantonese. 4. Since, Hong Kong became a British colony, where English is an important language, many of today's `Western' Feng Shui are dominated by Cantonese or Hong Kong Masters. Who most probably are cantonese. 5. Even in Singapore, many Cantonese like to place a mirror at their dinning table. Here, they hope that the food in the dinning area can be of abundance or that the mirror bounce back twice the amount of food. 6. If one can draw a parallel, many FS practitioners who either studied under such Cantonese practitioners would also conclude that placing a mirror at the kitchen would also symbolise abundance of both food and fire. 7. Therefore, in my opinion, it is more of a belief than anything else. 8. On a commonsense approach to Feng Shui, it is NOT PRACTICAL to place a mirror in the kitchen. Since the kitchen can be quite oily the mirror can easily be coated with the oil. Under Para 8, I personally believe, that it is really not worth placing a mirror in the kitchen. And a mirror so close to the stove may also crack especially given the Chinese way of cooking with high heat and wok. What can be worse...a cracked mirror (which many of us feels that it is bad luck). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Songwut, 1. In my opinion, the confusion you faced is because of how the Dragon and Tiger are interpreted. 2. There are two ways at looking at the Dragon and Tiger concepts:- 2.1 A pictorial representation. 2.2 Based on compass directions. 3. A PICTORIAL REPRESENTATION 3.1 In the past it is common to use pictures to tell a story. This is the easiest way to illustrate the subject on Shapes and Form Feng Shui. 3.2 Thus, one hears of the good qualities of the dragon embracing the tiger. 3.3 Here, under a pictorial representation, if one is looking out of the house, the dragon is always associated to be on the right side while the tiger is on the left side. 3.4 Logically, since the left side is usually associated with the rising sun (east), here, the dragon is called the green dragon. Where green represents the wood element or EAST. 3.5 Do note that: This is smiliar to your question as in your question, you are facing towards the house (while the above interpretation is from inside the house facing outwards) and in your case, the situation is that the dragon is on the right and the tiger is on the left. (It is one and the same as above). 3.6 Thus, if the tiger is at the right side, usually, this is associated with the west or metal element = white colour. 3.7 In this situation, thus, we sometimes mix the words Green with Dragon and White with Tiger i.e. Green Dragon and White Tiger. 3.8 Under this pictorial representation, the dragon is always on the left side (when we stand at the front of the house) facing outwards. While the white tiger is at the right side. 3.9 In this preception, centre is Yellow (earth element) and can be considered as the Yellow Snake. 4. BASED ON COMPASS DIRECTIONS 4.1 We should now totally `forget' what is said under Paragraph 3. 4.2 In this interpretation of the the Green Dragon and White Tiger, it is actually based on compass directions. 4.3 Thus Green Dragon, under this interpretation is at EAST or 90 degrees. While the white tiger is at WEST or 270 degrees. 4.4 Under this interpretation, you will notice that the Green Dragon and White Tiger are actually based on true compass directions. 5. Overall, if one uses the first concept i.e. as a pictorial understanding of the Dragon and Tiger, it is best not to mention the association with `Green' (east) or `White' (west). 6. When you read a book or book(s) on this subject, determine to see if the author is describing it based on `Shapes and Form Feng Shui' or Compass School methods? Usually, or more often, it is referred to under the Shapes and Form Feng Shui i.e. the use of pictorial illustration is a better way of understanding the dragon and tiger. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, I have friends who have a similar chair as yours. It is ok to place it at your entrance area or in the living room area. - If it is placed at the entrance area, it is best to place it facing the main entrance. - If it is in the living room area, best to place if facing `out' e.g. facing a window or door. This is still acceptable. Although my preference is that it is placed at the entrance area. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Janice, The 6 coin cure is related to the assessment done under the Flying Star Feng Shui. Here, 6 coins represent `Big metal' or strong metal element. It is used to `destroy' or `neutralise' bad numbers under the Flying Star numerology. As this cure involves the Five elements concept, you may have to first read up or understand the Five elements concept first. Before, progressing to understand how the Flying Star Feng Shui can help you. My advise is to take your time to understand the various concepts in particular:- 1. What is the purpose of each concept. 2. What are it's strengths and weakness. 3. How to apply them effectively. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Isabelle, Please see below:- There is not much one can do other than to neutralise the #4's in this situation. Metal element would help to neutralise the bad wood #4's. There are several ways to look at water positions. If one is using Flying Star method, the best location is one where there is metal at that sector. For example, if the frontage of the house has say a #7 mountain, Base 1 #7 water, in this area, there are metal elements. Provided, this sector is as mentioned earlier, the frontage of the house, or e.g. the balcony area, one can take advantage of water elements with #7 metal elements. The fundamental element in Feng Shui and even Flying Star Feng Shui is to apply the Five elements concept. For example, this link http://www.geomancy.net/resources/slideshow/ss-general1.htm shows the world's largest fountain at Suntec City, Singapore. The above slide(s) will show, a metal ring with water flowing into the centre of the fountain. Where circle also represents metal. This two combination of water + metal is the key ingredient to any water position. The metal here is on a huge scale and thus should provide vibrant Qi. Contrast this with a fish tank:- In the past (and present), it is popular for a Feng Shui consultant, to advise on this "solution" to this problem:- One sees a lamp-post slicing thru one's bedroom window. One cure is to close the curtain or use a day curtain. If it cannot be seen it no longer becomes a threat. But what happens if one needs to open the window all the time? Here, the five element concept are looked at:- A lamp-post (even if it is made of metal or wood) is considered as the `wood' element because it is tall and thin. Similar to a tree. There is water in the fish tank. And most of the recommended fish(es) are of the metal element e.g. goldfish (metal element), dragonfish etc.... Here, under the productive sequence of the Five elements concept:- Metal -> Water -> Wood It is good to use a two combination flow e.g. metal with water onto wood. Reference:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm For sectors particularly with #5 (20 year) and #5 (this year), constant metal such as a pendulum or wind chime (provided it is placed just outside this sector) is considered more effective than the static 6 coins. Here, the constant `banging' or `cling' of metal would be of use here. For locations with #2, six coins are ok. As to whether water is good or bad, since you are using the Flying Star Feng Shui, use it more authentically as mentioned in my earlier note about it's effectiveness if there is metal element in that location. If there is really no metal element(s) found at a specific sector, it is not effective. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Sandy Palm Condominium Attached please find two sample layout plans from this newly launched condominium project. In fact, the layout plans from this condominium can be summarised under the above two sample layout plans. Since, all units are identical. BAD TOILET AND KITCHEN / STOVE POSITION This condominium is really not worth considering as you can find out from the layout plan that not only is the toilet is at the centrepoint but it is doubly inauspicious since the kitchen / stove location is sharing the same wall as the toilet. Here, anyone staying in such a home would be plagued with financial problems. From the layout, it is hard to cure such a home since, one cannot simply change the toilet location although it is still quite possible to change the stove. A VERY UNFRIENDLY FENG SHUI INTERIOR In my opinion, the developers are literally shooting themselves in their foot! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Name of Project/Condo: Sandy Palm Location: close to NTUC Pasir Ris Resort & Pasir Ris Park No. of apartments: 48, 4 storey apartments Tenure of land: 99 years lease Developer: LCD Property Pte Ltd Overall, In my opinion, I personally give this condo thumbs down as all 48 apartments have toilet positions close to or exactly at the centrepoint. I feel that money could be better spent finding another property. In the next installment, I will include the layout plan of this development and go thru, what I feel is bad layout. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee
-
Dear Anon, In my opinion, the main issue is related to where the fish tank is placed. If it is close to the centre-point of the house, this is highly inauspicious. Frankly, so far, I have not commonly seen a fish tank facing the bedroom. If you can, try to see if there is a better place e.g. in the living room area if possible. Warmest Regards, Cecil

The Thian Hock Keng Temple in Amoy Street, Singapore. This temple was built in 1839 to 1842 at the site where Chinese immigrants offered thanks for a safe voyage. The statue of Ma-Cho, the Goddess of Seafarers was brought from Fukien (Hokkien) Province, China and enshired in April 1840. This Part one shows some pictures of the temple. The wrought iron (green gates in one of the picture came from Scotland, UK).

Dear Alan, 1. Thank you for attaching your layout plan. 2. Overall, from the external shape of the house, it looks acceptable since, from the profile, view, it looks like there are several rectangular shapes within the home i.e. the jaggered edges on each side of the house. 3. Perhaps, you can describe more about the roof top i.e is it flat top or have normal roofs. Warmest Regards, Cecil
