That is why we prefer to use ba zi. Ba Zi breaks down each animal sign further into weak/strong wood Horse for example. Thus, providing a more accurate analysis. Ba Zican clash between ba zi day/month/year pillar with the date. This gives you a more accurate analysis. As even the year isn't auspicious, you will noticed that there will be less auspicious date available within that year. Thus, we do not just use the horoscope to analyse whether a date is good or not. At most, this is applied for hour analysis, as there isn't much hour to choose from if you go to detail in the hourly analyiss. House not suitable, or house luck is bad, or ba zi luck period inauspicious. If a series of such issues are noted, then you will have inauspicious luck. As for the other question on fireplace. Some homes or area have high metal structure will often affect the reading taken by normal compass. That is why if you get a ordinary or very small compass, the reading will not be as accurate when taken in an area which has additional magnetic influence affecting the reading.
