  1. Dear Utpal, Flying Star Feng Shui uses the common lowest denominator: The Five elements concept. (Yin and Yang is higher up under this pyramid). Pillars of destiny also uses the Five elements concept. Often, it is crucial to find out what is one's element and strength e.g. weak wood person. If this has been determined: for a weak wood person:- Favourable elements are: Water (blue, black or grey) and Wood (green or brown). Unfavourable elements are: Fire (red, pink or purple) and Metal (white or gold). The wealth element of a weak wood person is: Earth Earth (yellow, cream or beige). But take note that this wealth element is not favourable to a weak wood person. It is good for a strong wood person. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Anon, You can review my comments on the various options on how to take a compass reading. In particular the difference between a building block, landed property and an apartment:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Wasis, It is best to scan the entire home to check on: 1. White If the walls are white in colour (white represents metal) no additional cure is needed. 2. Water element If there are water positions at a specific sector. Or if there are relatively large amounts of blue, black or grey at a sector that has particulary lots of #3 or #4 (bad wood) Or where the year has bad #3 or #4; since water helps wood, it is best to see if we can avoid adding water element here. If there is too much `water' element here, then, additional cure should be used to control the bad wood #3 or #4 or multiples of it. 3. Wood element At a location that has bad #3 and #4. In addition to water, we should not have too much `wood' at the location. If it is a simple plant, tnen remove it. Although adding wood to wood is not as bad as water, too much combination of these at a sector with #3 and #4 will not be good. If it cannot be removed, then a set of six coins should be used at the location to balance it. 4. Fire element. At locations with bad #5 and #2 bad earth, it is detrimental to add fire. Since fire will help fuel further especially the #5. In addition, if the sector has the Earth element, check to see if there is no additional combinations of Fire element and Earth elements at a location that has a #5 or #2 or multiples of it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Anon, 1. Hopefully, the red string does not stain or release red colour. Else simply rinse it with soap and water and leave it to dry. 2. In my opinion, although 3 represents wood and under the destructive process of Five elements concept: Metal destroy wood, often, this have very little success. It has more to do with `ren chai' or human luck. We want to believe in feeling lucky, that's all. Equivalent to the notion put to us by many Geomancers' that all of us have a wealth corner in a home. It is only to give us a sense of satifaction. For those who have watched Chinese period dramas or shows - and see the furniture arrangement, have anyone yet to see a show with an owner telling us that they have a wealth corner? Real Feng Shui or earth luck has to do more with the external environment, site, land and building rather than all these material goods. I have often mentioned that instead of buying figurines, it is even better to use that money to invest on one's children or hug one's children more. Human relationships is much better than all the material goods that we buy, and go dusty. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Anon, There are two dimensions when looking at the placement of a fish tank: 1. Shapes and Forms Often, the advise is to place it on the same wall along (but not close to) the main door. (Around the main door location) Avoid placing it at the centrepoint of the house. 2. Flying Star Feng Shui Under Flying Star Feng Shui, locations that has #7 and or #6 (PLUS) also that this is a water location e.g. the living room area - can be considered acceptable for a water postion. But under Flying Star, becareful not to place a water position at locations which #3 or #4 or multiples of these bad wood element. The rationale is that such a water position can `inflame' bad wood further and cause more problems. 3. A fountain...hmmm.. Nowadays, fountain is highly commercialised object. And at such a high mark-up. The real rationale for a fountain (a large one) is because, of two senarios: 3.1 for a landed property, water or water fountain would mean that nothing can built up above it ... i.e. giving clear space. 3.2 a real fountain or waterfall is different from a tiny fountain: What makes a real waterfall significant is the friction of water with air. It is said that such friction would produce a positive result or good ion charge. And these ion charge e.g. negative ions can attract bad positive ions. 3.3 Imagine a small tiny house fountain? Can it generate such an activity? Worse still, this may cause high humidity levels if the house is all closed up. If there is lots of sunligh there can also be algae growth. 3.4 For those who are living at a high floor already should be enjoying virtual water or clear space. 4. Where ever possible, a fountain should be placed outside of the house e.g. at the balcony area. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Yang Ming, Under the Eight House theory:- 1. How suitable is the house? Often, if `death or disaster' sector is at the main entrance for the breadwinner, this is already considered like the breadwinner having a `fractured' arm. 2. If the house also has a toilet at the centre of the house; then these are more leaks. More leaks translate to something like: a fractured arm to an `amputated leg'. 3. It is thus more important to understand all these. 4. In addition, under the Eight House, it is better to sleep in a good sector and nice to have sleeping with the head facing a good direction. 5. Other than the above, there is nothing magic about the Eight House. It has it's limitations. 6. Very often, it does not necessarily mean or automatically mean that when we sleep facing a good direction or sit facing our good direction, this is the `end of the success story'. 7. Far from it. As mentioned above, things like: location, location and location is very important. Even if the house is beautifully decorated but all else crumbles outside, this is really bad. No amount of sleeping at a good direction or even a house fitting us can help. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Anon, Can call me directly at: 6100 9600 or email to sales@geomancy.net Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Anon, More importantly, one try not to move the bed or furniture in the bedroom. In your case, this is unfortunately a business decision. And seems that you have to move table. In such a situation, you can still move your table but - avoid seeing the entire move. What you can do is; pack up all your personal belongings into a box, place it at a corner and (do not see the move/removal of the table) but once ready, then occupy your new table. (Do not see the entire process). Better still is if your new table is ready. Bring your things there. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Anon, Stand at the window(s) to see if the tree trunk slices into the home? If no, this is not a threat to your home. This can be seen as a "commonsense" approach. Often a dead tree is prone to rot / termites (if any). And because of this issue, it can be considered unhealthy. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Hi everyone, In addition, these are additional dates for the various years ahead:- 1. Year 2006 - 7th month (Hungry Ghost month) Unfortunately, under Year 2006, there is an intercalary month or a double 7th month for this year. Given this situation: the 7th months for this year are: from 25 July 2006 to 23 August 2006 and the start of the 2nd 7th month is from 24 August 2006 to 21 September 2006. When we read the above information, it simply means that the 7th month for Year 2006 is from 25 July 2006 to 21 September 2006. the 8th month for this year only starts from 22 September 2006. 2. Year 2007 For the Year 2007, 7th month starts on 13 August 2007 to 10 September 2007. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Mr Low, Overall, the earth element has only one main colour i.e. yellow or shades of it such as: cream or beige. (No other colour represents it). A safe element is often:- 1. White (metal) element. Or a combination of water element and gold such as the colour of the wrought iron gate / grille where often: the background is black and gold is splashed onto it. Ideally, one has to take extra care of using fire (red, pink or purple) at such sectors. As fire may inadvertently fuel bad earth #5 or #2 if they are present at that sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Anon, 1. For 2004, the 7th month or Hungry Ghost month falls on/between 16 August 2004 to 13 September 2004. (In addition) 2. For 2005, the 7th month falls on/between 5 August 2005 to 3 September 2005. 3. Another inauspicious date for marriage or moving-house is the Qing Ming month or often April. For this year, Qing Ming falls on 5 April 2003. And it is best not to move house in April 2003. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Anon, Since, the tree slices into the house (thru the main entrance): this is considered inauspicous. Or a threat to the house. The cul-de-sac is an added `burden' to the house. Thus, this is two bad / bad situations. No, it does not mean here that the cul-de-sac metal slices into the wood tree. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Sandra, Often, house number is not a major issue under Feng Shui. It has more to do with one's culture. And numbers mean different things to different races and even dialect groups. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, Frankly, there is no harm in placing a cross on your door. Often, when we read about Feng Shui, often it is not good to have two doors directly facing each other. This is because, there may be a possibility or a high probability of logger-heads between the two parties. For example, small things such as shoes strewn along the main enterance or noise coming from the neighbour. Even uneasyness of lack of privacy if both parties open their doors is considered unfavourable. Given all these, there is therefore a high chance of neighours being irritated with each other. A Lose-Lose situation? A lose-lose situation is when each party view the other with concern. For example, if the neighbour or we (ourself) first hang say a ba gua mirror, the other neighbour may not have a choice but also (instead) have to hang a mirror to neutralise it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Flemming, 1. It depends. Most and foremost, one has to look at the layout plan of the interior of the house. 2. Often, since the living room and dining room are close or next to each other, the placement of the sofa has to be looked into under the context of the living room vs dining room. 3. Often, it is good to create two symbolic rectangles between the living room and dining room area. 4. Factors like the shape of the living/dinning room should be looked into closely. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Yenni, If it is asked at www.geomancy.net's website, we require only your actual birth date and not lunar calendar date. We will convert this information. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear David, 1. Water position includes: any fountain or fish tank. 2. In addition, colours such as blue, black or gray also represents water element. This is particularly so, for the interior of the home. 3. A water position outside of the house often is excluded under the above definition. Water position outside the house can be based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Anon, To give an example of a `minor' leak:- A house can be very unsuitable to the breadwinner: i.e. death / disaster i.e. the front door. Often, this is considered as a major leak. If the main door is the `irritation' and `spook' sector, this can be considered as a `minor' leak. Some other simple minor leaks include e.g. a wall clock facing out of a living room window. Often, it is difficult for some of us to understand what are major and minor leaks. But, take it this way, any leak: major or minor may contribute to an accumulation of problems. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. If your home is facing such a home... with a semi-circular set of floor tiles radiating outwards of the main door with a slight protusion as shown here; you should try to do the same with similar set of floor tile configuration..
  21. The Chinese especially, from the dialect group Cantonese dread the number 4. To them, in their dialect means : `say' or DIE. Worse if it is repeated e.g. Die, Die, Die... Especially numbers like 4, 44 or even 444....
  22. Dear White, 1. Frankly, this does not come under the perview of Feng Shui. 2. Often, it is based on location, location, location and the selling price. 3. But, currently with the glut in the property market i.e. where buyers are spoilt for choice, it really - unfortunately makes it much harder to sell even if it is near to the valuation price. 4. Overall, based on many Real Estate agent's advice: 4.1 Try not to clutter the house with too many furniture. 4.2 Try to touch up areas or walls that are dirty. Otherwise, Feng Shui is not the way to go, here. Unless, you can find good `Feng Shui' points. Here again, one man's meat is another man's poison. Wishing you all the best! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Sam's Pet Gallery ================= Robert and myself will be at United Square on Sunday, 23 March 2003, to give several sessions of Feng Shui public talk between 2 to 6 pm. Please see attached brochure for more details. The event is organised by Singapore's most comprehensive and largest pet and aquarium store. Their website is: http://www.samyick.com If you are a pet lover or fish lover, do drop by:) Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee
  24. Dear Anon, Yes, unfortunately any construction work nearby can affect our lives especially if we are living close-by. And, since work is done during the day, if one is working from home or is a house maker; or children needs to study then it will affect those who live in the house. Therefore, there are two not favourable influences: 1. Noise pollution - hopefully, this is kept to the minimum or does not filter to your block/unit. 2. Dust - Hopefully, it is not as dusty. Since dust often has a way of finding itself into any home. 3. Again, hopefully, all these can be kept to a minimum. Real-life interesting story:- 4. In Singapore, we have re-claim land along the Marina / Marine Parade location. 5. In fact, one hotel, tried to elevate itself on `stilts' to avoid a sinking feeling - i.e. as it was felt that a building built on it gives such an inauspicious connotation. 6. Although many of us know that construction or underground work is often at it's highest quality, some geomancers, would view it (unfortunately) negatively. 7. Look at it positively: In the long run, when it is completed, your apartment will continue to enjoy the peace and quiet. Compare this with quite alot of homes next to highways in Singapore. The sound can be very disturbing to say the least. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Anon, 1. Besides the layout plan; another most important element is the flow of qi - into the house. 2. if there is a relatively clean / unpolluted lake, often, this is a plus point for various reasons. 3. A lake, close-by will often have another `secret' weapon in Feng Shui: trees and plants. And often, with such ecology; it will sustain life (animals or insects). And in many countries, some of these lakes are water catchment areas. 4. Thus, it may not be unnecessarily bad for a lake. 5. Sometimes, if our house has a patio or deck facing the lake; it may mean that this could instead be the frontage of the house. 6. Please note that not two situations are similar and each location / house has to be looked at in it's own merits. Warmest Regards, Cecil
