Dear Joe, Although colours are of `secondary' importance in Feng Shui, from my own opinion, in the past, I `brushed' aside the notion of wearing colours that suits us. But looking back, I really find no harm in chosing clothes that suit a person. Like the saying goes " no harm playing it safe ". When I next shop for clothings, I will continue to buy shirts and trousers that suit me. In fact so far, my favourite colours since young turned out to be the colour that suits me. I personally believe that as white stands for the Metal element, it can also be considered a neutral colour. Therefore, for a person of Strong Metal element, in my opinion may continue to wear white or their choice colours. Dear Bill, If you choose to do a Flying Star Chart, a chart for your individual unit will do. It is not necessary to do one for the whole building. Dear Rose, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'feng-shui-business' suppressed 'feng-shui-business' suppressed> Date: Monday, May 17, 1999 12:11 PM Subject: Feng Shui Courses on Geomancy Online No, if you read properly, we are working with the University to offer FS courses as a subject in their degree. For example in a Masters of International Business as an `elective' subject. If we are offering a Degree in Feng Shui, at the current moment, it would be offered from Geomancy University. Maybe, later on but no promises here as a few Universites are keen to participate in our programme. Therefore no promises here yet. Eventually we will offer a Degree in Feng Shui. I agree with you. Field work is essential here. Presently, this is still feasible as students can do field work and this would be considered in their assessment for their paper qualifications. There are many Distance Learning programmes that allows the student to obtain a degree and we will make use of all available `teaching' and `field work' techniques when we devise our course structure. Our main aim is to `produce' a well-rounded thinking graduate who is highly sought after and respected. Currently we have many students taking our courses all over the world e.g. from US, Europe, South America, Africa, India and the Far East. Career opportunities would depend on how Feng Shui is seen from the `consumers' of each country. For those residing in the US and South America, the prospects are good because FS is well received in many areas. Frankly, even in the Far East, Feng Shui practioners do not call their companies : ABC Feng Shui etc.. but rather ABC Geomancy Services, XYZ Geomancy Services. The reason for this is simple, in the Far East, a Feng Shui practioner cannot rely solely on Feng Shui assessments for their bread and butter. In order for them to survive, they need to cater to as large segment of the population as possible. For example " from birth to death ". For example, these Geomancers will do consultations to find a good name for a new born; do their Pillars of destiny; other areas include Feng Shui home / office audits, divinty readings e.g. Face and palm reading and older Feng Shui Masters also do assessment of burial sites. Therefore, if you see the above reason or logic, even in the East, Feng Shui practioners cannot survive on Feng Shui alone. They would have to survive on " Geomancy " i.e. Feng Shui, Pillars of Destiny, Chinese Astrology, Face and palm reading etc.. This is why some Feng Shui practioners in the West, I believe not only charge their clients for the Feng Shui assessment but also add hidden costs e.g. bring along windchimes, portable fountains etc... in the hope of selling more. This is why you notice Geomancy.net does not use the term " Feng Shui " as we will also be covering all aspects of Geomancy in the near future. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear Rose, I have added to the website a page on Two additional methods of finding the direction of the main entrance door. Dear Rose, 1. I am currently drawing an animated image map on how to determine the main entrance door using two other methods to confirm the readings of the main entrance door. I will be posting this information as a webpage on my website in a few days time. Once I completed this, I will post the link for all users to view the two methods. 2. I will also post the brand of compass and a recommended compass for those who are serious about getting the readings correct. (Plus the estimated costs). No, I am not selling the compass. I simply find the compass useful as unlike normal ones, you view it through a lens as if you are looking at the wall and it will show the correct direction. However, as it is "costly" e.g. approximately US$100, I am not sure many will get it unless they are practising Feng Shui full time. 3. In your case, perhaps, you may want to buy a `better' compass as you mentioned to me that your current compass is `small'. Perhaps, if you have the patience, let me complete the `two methods' and see if you can use of one of the methods. Dear Bill, In my opinion, based on what you have mentioned, 1. You should use the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui to look at the surroundings of the building to see if it is `in harmony' with the rest of the buildings in the area. Pay attention to the Four Symbolic Animals Concept i.e. where there is a clear, open space at the front of the apartment. What is at the back of the apartment. Is your apartment building dwarfed by any buildings on its right or left? 2. For your 3 floor apartment, you can use the Eight House Chart and superimpose it on the layout plan of each of the three levels. If you only want to do a simple Feng Shui assessment to check on your compatibility to your apartment, the above would do. If you want to go deeper into analysis of the birth chart of the house, you could if you want do a Flying Star Chart or even the Pillars of Destiny to find your true element strength. I would recommend that you use the Eight House Chart. After doing it and you feel comfortable just knowing that the house suits you, this is fine. You need not do other charts. Dear Chris, Yes, what you have done is correct:- 1. Finding your main door direction. The purpose of finding the main door direction of your house is. This information is needed to find out which of the Eight House, it belongs to. 2. You have used the Eight House Theory to find the type of house that is suitable for you i.e. a North house is the most excellent choice. As there are lots of documented cases on this webstie on how you can use the above information, I would not want to go into detail. I suggest you read the Step-by-step guide on what to do after you had obtained the above information:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm - An easy step-by-step guide http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house2.htm - Finer points in how to access your home. After `digesting' the above, and if you still have any questions, please let me know. Dear Rose, Yes, I am particularly impressed with your keen observation which if we look at it, belongs more to Yang. As a more `Yin' person I feel is less likely to `notice' such errors. Robert will credit you and privately e-mail you for a second credit to allow you to generate the two directions. As for a person who is more Yin or more Yang, this belongs to a very exciting field of other Chinese Yin and Yang theories which include food. For example, cooking techniques e.g. smoking fish etc.., baking stewing and deepfrying are more towards Yang and uncooked food, steaming are more Yin. Chinese culture is vast and later on, we will also go into such areas and even I-Ching. One other thing is that from my understanding of the L and R Theory, the more Yin you are, the more one can develop higher `intuitive' skills. For example, one Feng Shui practising Master asked me whether I find Grand Master Yap Cheng Hai uses `orthodox' Feng Shui. My reply is that most likely he is more Yin person and through the years, may have cultivated his `intuitive' skills to the highest level. Personally, for me, quite often, nowadays, I feel that I can sense more and more and usually what I had `forecasted' does take place. The good thing is that those who are more Yin should not only use their intuitive skills but cross reference it to the compass school techniques and surprisingly, most of the time, my feelings are similiar to those of the Flying Star most of the time. Unless the two units are so close by ... here, I need the Flying Star Chart to confirm which units are better. I encourage all users here to be well-read and do not ever become so fixed to learning only one technique and calling this the BEST. Not only will you become a laughing stock but miss out the benefits of other techniques. Worse still, Feng Shui is akin to playing with Fire or GOD. People trust you to do a proper evaluation. But many a times, the outcome may turn out worse. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0062_01BE9ED3.98E057C0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Dear Glyn, As the Yin and Yang concept is currently available i.e. "Left Brain person" should be more YANG "Right Brain person" should be more YIN all I have done is to go further indepth by linking the above to the `preferred' style or inclination to the style of Feng Shui which I call it " L and R Theory of Feng Shui. " Based on the above theory, there are two parts to it. Here, the more important point relates to whether you are better able to express yourself diagramatically or more inclinded to use only words. For example, if you attend a small course and if there are presentations, you will notice that some course participants prefer to use a mixture of words and graphics to express themselves. While another person may only use words. Here, based on my personal analysis, the person who uses a mixture of words and graphics tend to be using their `Right Brain' or spatial side more than then a `left brain person'. This is the more important of the two parts of the L and R Theory. For the second part of the theory, if you are like me very YIN e.g. 6 YIN out of 8 elements of the pillars, I prefer more graphics with a mix of words. While Robert is like yourself well balanced and equally comfortable with both. But he still has a preference for words. For the second part of the theory, it needs to be looked into further. But under Feng Shui, you can suppose `estimate' a person who is either more Yin or more Yang. Like Robert, he does equally well with both Shapes and Form and the mathematics side of Feng Shui. For yourself, I am very pleased that with the amount of correspondence you had with me and Robert, you are equally good at both Shapes and Form and the mathematics side. In addition to this, you are well -read and this makes a vast difference in the way you see things:) I strongly recommend that if you need good reliable Feng Shui Audit done particulary in Australia or in Perth, please contact Glyn:) Warmest Regards, Cecil In your case, you are similar with Robert who can do both equally well:) -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'flying-star' suppressed suppressed> Date: Saturday, May 15, 1999 11:21 AM Subject: Yin/Yang

Hi Everyone, Let me share with you two simple observations. It is based on my own personal experience and in my opinion, you can try it out to see if it `fits' you:- A. If I want to practise Feng Shui can you tell whether I am more inclined to practise the Shapes and Form School or the mathematics side such as the Flying Star Theory. I need to ask you a question: Do you enjoy figures e.g. logic, mathematics or the sciences or more inclined to the spatial e.g. art, imagination and prefer to express yourself using graphics and pictures? If you are more inclined to enjoy the spatial e.g. seeing both words and enjoy pictures you most likely are one who will feel more comfortable using the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. On the other hand, if you enjoy figures e.g. maths, then most likely if you are considering practising Feng Shui is more inclined towards using the mathematics side of Feng Shui e.g. the Flying Star Theory. In Feng Shui, If you are a "Left Brain person" - you are considered more YIN person and more inclined towards the languages, science, mathematics, logic. If you are a "Right Brain person" - you are considered more YANG person and more inclined towards imagination, the art, spatial, dance and enjoy to express yourself in graphics. Here, if you are inclined as a " Left Brain person ", most likely if you are `taking' up Feng Shui, prefer the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. Here, if you are inclined as a " Right Brain person ", most likely if you are `taking' up Feng Shui, prefer using the Flying Star Compass School of Feng Shui. Well this entirely based on my personal observation. For example (I may be right or wrong but this is what I know based on the Feng Shui Author's style of writing a book):- I feel that Raymond Lo, Master Joseph Yu are more inclinded towards the mathematics side of Feng Shui. For example, Raymond Lo specializes in the Pillars of Destiny while Master Joseph Yu, into the Flying Star. While, I feel that Lillian Too, is more inclined towards expressing herself partially in graphics and words and thus more into the Shapes and Form School. Personally, I am more inclined to the Shapes and Form School while Robert is more inclined towards the mathematics side. B. From my research, I believe that there is another factor involved. You can check this out using the Pillars of Destiny. Do count the number of YIN and the number of YANG in your Eight Pillars. If you have more YIN, most likely, you are again more inclined towards the Shape and Form School of Feng Shui. If you have more YANG elements, more inclined to the mathematics side of Feng Shui. Please note that like other theories, I prefer to use the word " more inclined " because unlike a continuum e.g. there are no extremes of hot or cold i.e. totally using only one or the other. What you can learn from the above is to choose your style and not get frustrated into learning or forcing yourself to learn both methods. Believe me if you are a person with lots of YIN e.g. at least 5 or more YIN elements, you can develop your intuition skills well. Let me share with you. I am a very YIN person and through the years, I believe have increased my intuitive skills. Many a times, I can sense a home or office and only use the Compass methods e.g. Flying Star to confirm. Most of the time, I do get it correct. The only time I had a problem was when I evaluated an office. Thsi company has a two units of three storey office side by side. Here, I had to depend on the Flying Star chart to confirm my findings. This is similar to the West where if you had noticed some US Universities are more inclined to the Right Brain `students' e.g. Havard University. While MIT, USA is more inclined towards the mathematics side. Overall, this is why I feel that those who are more YIN and the Right Brain person has an added advantage as they could where possible `develop' their intuitive skills and only rely on the mathematics side of Feng Shui for confirmation. This is why I had discussed this with Robert and he felt that those who are of the Left Brain plus more YANG, would have to rely on mathematics side of Feng Shui as they are `less' able to rely on the intuitive Form of Feng Shui. Well, do take note that the above is based on my personal opinion and observations. What I hope to do is later to create a voting booth and ask users the above questions and see a general voting trend. It would be quite interesting:) If you have anything to add or want to share your views, do let me know:) Warmest Regards, Cecil The above is (C) Cecil Lee, 1999 - The L and R Theory of Feng Shui

Dear Rose, Feel free to ask questions here. Glyn, Robert and many users here are happy to learn from each other and what better way is through real-life situations. This will also help us fine tune our courses, books and replies to bring it to a `higher' level. Personally, I have benefitted from the very frank questions put in by users. By asking questions, will also act as a catalyst for us to do further research into the subject and come up with more and more alternatives that we feel that are workable. As a pioneer of this Forum, I hope that it can continue with its mission of providing very frank answers and if it is not possible, provide as many `workable' alternatives to everyone. In short, Centre for Feng Shui Research wants to do better and be called a Centre of Excellence for Feng Shui Research. It is a tall order, but, I believe, this forum will remain relevant because it is virtually 100 flame free and thanks to users e.g. Eve and many others who help to answer questions. If any users have a different opinion or find that something had worked for you, we are all ears:) Learning is a two way process and no one can claim that he/she is `smarter' than others not even so called Feng Shui Masters. The approach in this Forum is, do not take our words but find out for yourself the rationale why someone said it this way or that way. You will be surprised to learn that the Great Feng Shui Masters of the past did not learn Feng Shui passed down from Masters but BOOKs.. Yes! Books! The common thing amongst them is that because they are well read, they are in a better position to understand all Feng Shui Schools and pick wisely ie. what is good and discard the rest. Compare this to a Feng Shui Master who only knows a particular school. He / She will certainly say that what he / she studied is the BEST! This is why some Traditional Feng Shui Masters today are in a `fix'. They have been telling their students to discard the Eight House Theory. Some even modify the Eight House Theory and found that it did not work for them. Therefore, they and their followers thus conceed that the Eight House Theory is not workable. This is not TRUE! In the past, such Feng Shui Masters can get away with it. But with today's well read people who had `picked' up Feng Shui, these FS Masters have to find another story or admit that the Eight House is still one of the most popular methods used. Recently, I have seen a few forum where a few people `dare' to pose such a challenge to FS Masters that say `bad things' about the Eight House. Such Masters who only practise one school cannot simply compete with others who know not only their school but many other schools. I feel the days of such FS Masters are "numbered." Many people can see for themselves and judge what is workable and not. Sorry for the `side track.' The only request I ask is that you do not post a `Thank You' note although it is polite to do so but because many users here subscribe to a mailing list and you can understand that we want to keep to the minimum `unnecessary' mails. Hope you understand. As your message is very long, I will try to answer some and get back to you on those that I had `missed out'. -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'flying-star' suppressed suppressed> Date: Friday, May 14, 1999 2:44 PM Subject: Activating the Mountain Stars Where is the mountain star? The mountain star can only be activated e.g. if there is a wall on that sector. This wall is thus considered the mountain. If it is an open window, I am afraid, you should not call this wall a `mountain'. Therefore, a mountain in a house is equal to = the wall. This is the reason why you can place a cupboard against the wall and place a soild object there. There are two types of stars. A mountain star and a water star. When there is a water star, this means that you should keep the place clear e.g. the front of the house. What about the mountain star? If there is no mountain star, even if you place a solid object it will not work for the person. Often many people are in serious trouble if they place lots of objects at a particular location without knowning e.g. their main element and its strength. This may result in an imbalance! For example, if you are already a person of Strong Earth and yet, you place a brick (representing the mountain star) in the Fire or Earth location, this may inadvertenly increase your Fire or Earth element creating even larger imbalance to the individual. This may result in health or competitive problems. The best advise is not to keep the location or home simple. Do not apply excessive self cures. If not sure, consult a proper FS practioner. As mentioned earlier, you should look at the wall on that sector or imagine it as a `mountain'. Here it is not difficult to visualise the wall `acting' as a mountain. Ideally, you should have a display shelf or at that location and place the solid mass at the location. Alternatively, you can buy those screw on book shelves at any D.I.Y. stores and fix this shelf on the wall. Some FS practioners will bring along their Feng Shui ruler and help you determine the height of the shelf. Others simply ask you to judge for yourself and use a `reasonable' height you feel comfortable with. Both are acceptable. In case you go out and buy a FS ruler, let me `warn' you that there are as many as four or more versions of the Imperial Carpenter ruler sold in Taiwan or Hong Kong! So, if after reading this and you find it not practical to use the FS ruler, I agree with you. Use your intuition or six sense here:) But the caution is that the pointed stars may become sha or poison arrow. Please give some thought to this. Maybe a cresent shaped moon or half-moon or quarter moon and the cow flying over it is a better alternative? Here you can count cows or better still hang sheep? Well, this is acceptable as you have `symbollically' created for yourself a small hill. Frankly, in the past, Feng Shui did not go into such details or most likely not encountered in the past. So, this is one person's opinion against another. ----------------------------------------- ------------------------- --------------------------- Overhead Beam / \ / \ / \

Dear Bill, If your local book store does not have the books, you can order it from Amazon.com. (Alternatively you should be able to purchase it from other major cyberbook stores e.g. Barnesandnobles.com. Books by Raymond Lo:- 1. Feng-shui and Destiny by Raymond Lo. I think this is one of his first books. I call it a "classic book" because it is clearly written and in general gives you a basic understanding of all well known Compass School methods of Feng Shui. Such as the Eight House Theory, a short write-up of Pilalrs of Destiny and a " dab " of the use of Flying Star Theory and the use of the three coin method in I-Ching divinity. Other of his books 2. Dear Margarita, There are four main considerations in your case:- 1. Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui:- - Place your table against a solid wall. If this is not possible, place it against a partition. - Even if it is the centre of the house, there must be proper backing `behind you' i.e. there should be a solid wall at the back of your seat. It should not be `exposed' area were people can walk around or even a glass window. - Yes, it is inauspicious to have the working desk face the kitchen. Here, if you notice, the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui need to be followed closesly. 2. Eight House Theory Sit facing one of your good directions for work. 3. Flying Star Theory (Optional) As the Flying Star divides a home/office into 9 sectors, it is good to see whether the centre location is auspicious or not. Currently, most houses built under Period 7 (1984 to the year 2003) the centre of the house is usually the " Current Prosperity " location. 4. If your desk is right in the middle of the centre of the house, where possible, leave the space around the centre clear e.g. do not place a Personal Computer etc... Frankly, this fourth point is based on my personal opinion after having analysed many cases related to Feng Shui problems. Therefore, for anyone reading this, I leave it to you to decide for yourself whether you want to follow the fourth advice or not. However, the centre of the house is considered the Earth element. Dear Rose, If the toilet door and the main entrance lie on the straight line, please close the toilet door when not in use. The best alternative is still to use a screen anywhere between the main entrance door and the toilet door. It can be either closer to the toilet door area or closer to the main entrance door. But if the main entrance door area is auspicious, you might want to (if possible) place a screen closer to the toilet door. This is one option. As I mentioned in a few messages, if one cannot see the Sha, it no longer becomes a threat. Frankly, I don't see much use in lighting up the toilet. You most likely end up paying more `electricity' bills. In the toilet, keep it airy and `bright' using natural lighting if possible. If one side of the toilet wall occupies an external wall the better. You can even place a mirror above the wash basin to enhance the toilet. But do not use too many mirrors or let two mirrors in the toilet face each other. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. If you still have problem determining the compass direction do let us know. Perhaps we can guide you along. -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Wednesday, May 12, 1999 2:42 PM Subject: Re: Advice on Studio Unit -Reply

Dear Bill, Any additions e.g. installing French windows would not change the birth date. Yes, Feng Shui is very symbolic and painting the entire ceiling would suggest that the birthdate will change. This technique is used by an expert Feng Shui practioner. A "novice" FS practioner may likely ask you to literally remove the entire roof and put it back. Another example of Feng Shui is Sha. One principle is that if you cannot see it, it no longer can harm the household. For example if one can see a pointed corner of another house aimed at your window, if you install a blind or use a thick curtain and cannot see it, the Sha no longer becomes a threat. Dear Rose, What you have described is based on the Eight Aspirations or Life Aspirations or Associations. It is based on interpretation of each of the Eight Trigrams. As each of the Trigrams has a direction, therefore many Feng Shui authors like to write about it in their books. Like you have cleverly deduced, that it is too general and does not take into account NOT even a person's Gua number, and thus more easy for book authors to write about. Even the Eight House Theory takes into account our personal Gua number and thus, it can be considered to be personalised to each of us. But the Eight Aspirations or associations e.g. South-West = Romance or Relationship is too general a theory to use. I have mentioned in previous postings that only after one has done e.g. Eight House, Flying Star or even Pillars of Destiny and after which is `too free' or have the luxury of nothing else better to do, can at their own free time, " enhance " these locations. But bear in mind not to `upset' any cures or fixes done under the Eight House or Flying Star theory. Dear Rose, Thanks again for your observation skills! -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'five-element-cures' suppressed 'five-element-cures' suppressed> Date: Saturday, May 08, 1999 4:24 PM Subject: 5-Element Associated Behaviours / Symptoms I have actually covered this in the Applied Feng Shui course. Briefly, this `observation' is based on the Yin and Yang theory. For example if you take salty food.. (which is Yang) you tend to need liquid (Yin). If a person sufffers a heart attack (Yang) one needs Rest (Yin). The above is based on the philosophy of Tai Ji. Yes, this makes sense. You have correctly explained it using the Five Element Concept which is the basis of Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology. In many of my Feng Shui audits, I am always `thrilled' by the aspect of looking at this issue. Not so much under Feng Shui but more to see if this is `true' in real life cases. Most of the time I found this to be true. For example, the couples who have element strength and element in `harmony' of each other, I found that they get along very well. (Most of the time). There are other cases where it may not be `true'. I believe the reason is because some couples after many years know each other's characteristics well and " give and take " in their relationship. Those who are younger may do just the opposite .. i.e. do not understand each other's characteristics well and end up e.g. divorce... etc... One good thing about mapping our `Heaven' luck e.g. using the Pillars of Destiny is that we can then better understand ourselves or our partners and work on our relationship. Know each other's strength and weaknessess. Another method of looking at compatbility is using Chinese Astrology or the Chinese Zodiac Signs. For those who have not visited my other website: it is called " http://www.lovesigns.net " There is one section " Compatiblity with others". It is the Chinese Astrology " equivalent " of looking at compatibility. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Rose, Thanks for your keen powers of observation. Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'discussion-session' suppressed 'discussion-session' suppressed> Date: Saturday, May 08, 1999 4:03 PM Subject: I-Ching Hexagram 1. The hexagram is the Metal Element and the surrounding is Water. I leave you to guess what our Element is:) 2. The hexagram is known as Tai or Peace. Tai symbolizes peace and harmony. The upper Trigram is Qian represents Heaven and the lower one is Kun represents Earth. The Yin force of Kun pushes downards while the Yang force of Qian pushes upwards. This means that the forcesof Heaven and Earth and yin and yang are equally matched and combined together. All things as a result are growing and flourishing. This trigram is considered very auspicious, indicating peace and fortune i.e. everything will go as expected or hoped. The future looks good. This symbol is thus the equvalent of the the " Yin and Yang " logo you commonly see and it is found on the Geomancy.net centre logo. Please visit this I-Ching site which has one of the best links to many I-Ching (Book of Changes) sites:- This is the url: http://www.zhouyi.com/ Confucious once mentioned that if he had lived another 50 years, he would dedicate his life to learning the I-Ching. Geomany-U.com will at a later date, cover this topic also. Warmest Regards, Cecil I

Dear Wilson, I agree with Glyn's findings. -- Quoting Glyn -- A wooden shelf on top of a bed is akin to a column or beam above a person. This will only weigh down a person and in Feng Shui, is considered inauspicious. Glyn has all the hallmarks of an excellent Feng Shui Practioner and time to come will eventually become an Excellent Feng Shui Master:) Keep up the Good Work Glyn:) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jo, Frankly, currently I do not see any `harm' in installing a wall uplight next to the painting based on `intuitive' Feng Shui. However, normally again this should not be a problem other than if you have done a Flying Star chart and found that the sector is unfavourable or where `fire element' can do damage to that sector. Other than this consideration, it is acceptable to have the uplight. Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Thursday, May 06, 1999 8:42 PM Subject: Is it OK to have a carp painting and a wall uplight beside eac h In my opinion, it would not be necessary to turn on the light during the day as in my opinion, there is already light and if I am not mistaken, natural light is still the best. As for turning on the light at night, you can try it if you want... but do monitor your actions. I personally feel that such an action e.g. turning on the lights has more to do with Chinese supersituous belief. For example, during eve Chinese New Year, I would turn on the lights in my home to "usher" in the New Year and this is suppose to bring good luck. Other than what I mentioned above, turning on the light is suppose to enhance the " Fire Element ". Some Feng Shui practioners go to the extend of identifying the type of light and its usefulness or effectiveness. For example, some feel that halogen lamp has more intensity than say a flourescent light. Yes, I am glad that you are able to understand and apply the Five Elements and at the same time understand the consequences of doing so. As your main door faces West and you are a strong Metal person, there is really no harm for you to use the uplight for two reasons:- 1. West is overall a Yin location. 2. Fire destroys metal as you are a strong Metal person. (Water in the painting has no effect on your personal element Metal). Overall, you can do with Fire but not necessary turning on lighting `24' hours a day. Other Fire elements even a simple pyramid crystal etc... are just as effective. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wilson, Frankly, Feng Shui is not a `cure all' but the main objective is to create harmony e.g. a home and its surroundings. However, some Feng Shui authors have added an extra dimension in `interpreting' each trigram and place a meaning to each of the trigrams. As each of the trigrams have a direction, this is how the Eight Aspirations or Life Aspirations and associations came about. Frankly, in my opinion, this is a very general theory. I am not sure if you have generated a Free Eight House report under this url: http://www.geomancy-online.com as it will include a section of the Eight Aspirations. Here, you can try to see if activating the " Romance " sector does any help to you. For example, place a vase of flowers at the sector.
